Deze pizzeria zag er leuk uit en heeft goede reviews. Bij binnenkomst werden we vriendelijk ontvangen in deze gezellige zaak. Bij het opnemen van onze bestelling werd gezegd dat vanwege drukte het wel een minuut of 15 kon duren. Dat vonden wij prima. Helaas ging het steeds langer duren en werd er weer een nieuwe tijdsduur afgegeven. Op een gegeven moment zaten we al op zeker 45 minuten. De serveerster vond het zelf ook heel vervelend en gaf ons 2 pints als compensatie. Uiteindelijk kwam het eten en de pizza was heerlijk! Bij het afrekenen hoorden we dat de chef op vakantie was en de eigenaar nu zelf in de keuken stond (en niet zo snel was). We hebben er smakelijk om gelachen. Zonder de wachttijd was het gewoon een maximale beoordeling geweest.

This pizzeria looked nice and has good reviews. Upon entering we were kindly received in this cozy shop. When we took our order, it was said that due to crowds it could take about 15 minutes. We thought that was fine. Unfortunately, it took longer and longer and a new time period was issued. At one point we were already at least 45 minutes away. The waitress found it very annoying and gave us 2 pints as compensation. Finally the food came and the pizza was delicious! When paying we heard that the chef was on holiday and the owner was now in the kitchen (and was not so fast). We had a good laugh about it. Without the waiting time it would have simply been a maximum rating.

Absolutely jam packed on a Wednesday night! We were lucky enough to arrive at just the right time - just as someone was leaving. Staff were all delightful. Service was brilliant. Food was absolutely delicious!

Probably the best Pizza in town

The service is excellent, run by a young girl. The cuisine of first courses and pizza does not reflect Italy. Promi dishes without flavor, overcooked pasta, inadequate ingredients and which reflect real Italian dishes. The pizza looked like chewing gum, indicating that the dough had to rise for a few hours and it wasn't even well cooked. They put cheddar together with mozzarella, which is low quality, and spicy salami instead of sausage, where the pizza is called "sausage and friarelli" Before selling any product that is not part of your culture, inform yourself and learn, or at least hire Italian people who know how to do this job. I've eaten in other places where it didn't reflect originality, and you are among the worst of my experiences.

Great authentic Italian, typical cuisine of the Amalfi coast area. I recommend the Aubergine alla Mario.

The BEST Italian we’ve found in Oxford. The pizza was incredible and so was the penne primavera. We got the margherita (cheese) pizza and it was so delicious there was no need for further embellishments. The food came out hot and fast. What’s not to love about this place? The restaurant itself is traditional. They aren’t trying to wow you with Instagramable gimmicks. They’re all about the food and service; both of which are first class. I cannot overstate how much I love this place and can’t wait to explore the menu further. It’s a must go for any pizza and pasta lover.

15 years later and we still come to Mario‘s when back in town. And the lovely thing about: every time we come, everything is the same! The owner and the Pizza Master, the tables and chairs, the decor and most importantly the high quality of pizza and pastas stayed the same and we are all so grateful for that. Mario is an institution and a place everyone should treasure! One note: Now that I’m gluten free, I noticed they even have gluten free pasta and the pasta dish I chose tasted delicious!

This was the best Italian food I have in Oxford. A great traditionally Italian place. The tortellini was mouth wateringly divine. The pizza also looked amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant. A must try in Oxford

Everything was really good, the price was fair and all the staff was cordial and funny. I truly advise to eat there!

The food was excellent and it's a really cozy place. The staff are perfectly great too. The only issue I had on my visit was the waiting time. But this was the only time I've been to the place, so may have been a one-off.

We love everything about Super Mario's.

I only picked up a takeout with my kids but it was absolutely amazing. So simple but so delicious. The boys had a pizza each with absolutely no grease left in the box. I had the spaghetti con Garberoni, which again was a simple dish but done properly was so delicious! Ordering and collection was so easy and the staff were friendly and authentic. Highly recommend, will definitely use again!!

Great service here and food is excellent - you won’t find better pizza in Oxford. It really is an authentic Italian Trattoria, so décor and layout is pretty basic, atmosphere is unfussy. The menu (both food and wine) is humbly outstanding, and very reasonably priced.

Don't expect a fancy place, this is your neighborhood pizza restaurant. We didn't have the pizza but the other dishes were wonderful. We were recommended this by a hotel concierge who said great food at cheap prices. He was right. The server, Fabiena, was wonderful. We had their garlic focaccia, spag. Bolognese, and penne aglio. All were great. I had their salmon pasta which had marvelous taste but way too much salt - skip the extra cheese.

It's got the feel of a real Italian pizzeria, and I noticed Italians going there for dinner. The place filled up immediately on opening the doors. The staff was friendly, the pizzas came quickly. It's not a comfortable, calm place, it's more like a food factory. I did not enjoy the Bruschetta, as it was too salty. I also did not like the mozzarella and tomato salad, as they used some sort of horrible glazing instead of balsamico. The tomatoes were tasteless. The pizzas were average, and the crust too thick. I'd like my pizza with more tomato sauce, cheese, and toppings, and taste. I won't go back, unless I'm going with the flow of a group that wants to go there. I much preferred Mammamia in Jericho.

I definitely recommend this place if you want a casual date or place to hang out with friends for nice cheap dinner. I definitely recommend a lasagna.

Fantastic food, fantastic staff what more could you ask for? Literally had the BEST pizza I've ever had. I had asked them a question about the dough (if it was fast acting yeast etc) and they were so lovely the chef even came out to talk to me. The waitress that served us was so friendly and welcoming. 100% would recommend this restaurant to anyone 🙂

Marios is the best Italian place in oxford. They have THE MOST authentic Italian food in all of Oxford and it's a must try. It makes you fall in love in Italian cuisine all over again! The range of vegetarian options on the menu is just so appetizing! They have something called Lasagne Siciliana and it's just out of the world! The tiramisu will be softest, most tastiest dish you’d have ever experienced and the pizzas! It's unbelievably perfect! The service is great and it's my most favourite Italian place in whole of Oxford. 💙

Perfect traditional pizzas as Italian as they come

Mario's keeps on delivering quality food at a reasonable price with great staff. There is nothing I can complain about at Mario's. I have eaten there several times and it never disappoints. Dinner for 14 people and the food came out quickly, was cooked to perfection and the staff were so helpfully and friendly. The pizzas are probably the best I've had in the UK and the pasta is just perfect

Weird vibes from the server, not sure if it was because I was there with my girlfriend and we were being openly affectionate as a queer couple.

Good pizzas. But very inexperienced service. I don't really like touching the guests' glasses with my fingers on the edge of the glass. If you don't mind that and want a good pizza, this is the place for you.

The best pizza I ever had in UK

No frills place: competent and professional staff, tasty food. Not fancy but clean and good food. Would come again. Is bigger on inside than it looks on outside.

The restaurant is definitely run by Italian people and the pizzas and pasta are amazing. Authentic Italian food with a cozy dining section down a few stairs. Great selection of pizzas with all sorts of different toppings. I recommend the tiramisu for dessert. In terms of the layout, lovely decor and very homely dining section. The top section of the restaurant is disabled accessible but not the toilets or the bottom part.

Good 'basic' Italian fare done right. Great pizzas prepared and cooked by a chef in the window. Is usually busy, but service is quick. Great value. Great waiting staff.

A special thank you to Pizzeria Trattoria Mario for their care in making me gluten free pasta. It was incredibly delicious and totally gluten free. As someone with celiac, it can be nerve-racking eating out. I want to enjoy good food but I don't want to get sick! These guys know their stuff, take pride in their food and have a good sense of humour too. X

Myself and my daughter enjoyed our meal very much. We had the spaghetti carbonara and the chicken tagliatelle. Large portions and very tasty and served nice and hot. Reasonably priced family Italian restaurant. Good service. Basic decor but that’s not a problem

I had booked a table for 6 on 20/5 as we were in the area to celebrate my daughters graduation. We were running late due to travel delays and had to push our booking back by half an hour. This was not a problem for Mario and we arrived to a warm welcome. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and conscientious. The restaurant was very busy and had a lovely atmosphere. One of our party is Coeliac and this was managed with knowledge and care. We ate from the regular menu and the specials and all the food was freshly cooked and delicious. If we ever have a reason to be in Oxford again then we will return to Mario's. Highly recommended on all levels.

The pizza is spectacular and the fried calamari is very good, everything is freshly made, the waiters are very friendly.

Been here twice now. Amazing food and the calzone is great. Restaurant feels more like a take away than a restaurant with the ambiance. Not a particular place for the romantic evening. However well worth a visit and I’d happily go back again. With all the challenges with covid I was really happy to see them open and thriving

Been to Italian restaurants all over the UK and Europe but this is honestly one of the best! Went this evening for my sisters 21st, the food was amazing, the server was lovely and we had a great time. Already planning to come back for a date night with my bf!

I love this restaurant so much ! We go there very often with my partner and it's always a very good time. Authentic italian food, home made and so good, prices are great, staff is lovely. I'm a big fan of their gnocchis and their pizza (I recommand the crudo), I always ask to have the penne meatballs but replace the penne by gnocchis and they always say yes even when the restaurant is very busy. One of the best restaurant in Oxford to my opinion.

Amazing pizza and excellent service

Excellent gluten free pasta! The chef was very knowledgeable. It takes some time because they change out the pasta water, but totally worth it. There is no gf pizza, but if you’re hankering for some pasta, this is the place! (Pictured = gf fettuccine, comes with mushrooms, ham, and peas. Absolutely delicious!)
