generous portion of fish and chips for a fair price considering the location and friendly and fast service. and a good spot to sit and watch life go by on the main street. Found parking on the street in front but not always guaranteed.

Lovely chippy. Took my 3 little 1s in there today and the young waitress was brilliant. Offered my little 1s a lolly after.. food was lovely aswell. Thank u guy's.

I've not tried all the chippies in the Matlock area, but this one will be hard to beat. I ate in and had cod, chips and mushy peas. The fish was perfectly cooked with a really crispy batter, the chips were delicious and the mushy peas creamy and tasty. Absolutely first class grub - I'll be coming back often.

It's pretty good for Matlock Bath. With the abundance of chip shops in Matlock, it is always difficult to choose which one to use. Route 66 won't disappoint. Freshly cooked to order and a free motorcycle show as you eat, can't be bad, eh 😉👍

Food was terrific, all tasted fresh. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and we'd likely go back here specifically, rather than try and new chippy in the area given how well looked after we were first time around.

Food was ok. Chips were a bit hard. Lady who served us acted like she hated her job. Not rude just miserable. We sat outside and large stones where falling from the roof almost hit our friend on the head. It’s quite expensive as well

I came here during my trip to the UK the fish and chips were amazing. Portion sizes were INSANE! MASSIVE compared to portions in the USA. I really enjoyed my time and had a nice chat with the workers. Awesome atmosphere and really good food. And best of all an amazing price for such a big portion of food.

Stayed overnight at Matlock bath and this chippy is unbelievable great value for money. The chips were freshly cooked and the mini fish filled the plate and served with a nice warm pot of mushy peas all for £7, excellent food and service

Amazing food, we've been coming to Matlock regularly for years and only tried this one for the first time today and would easily say it is one of the best I've had until now. We'll wait until the next visit to see if is consistently the same.

Ate the food too fast to take a picture! Us and our small children, battered fish among the best batter I've had, nuggets, pie and chips. Great service, very spacious and clean inside.

Went during Matlock illuminations. The kids loved it, and I would say the food they had was some of the best they can remember from a chippy. Loads of staff, very attentive, great service, very clean. Recommended.

Michelin starred fish and chips and mushy peas, curry sauce and a childs sausage and chips with curry sauce(or other) and you also get a drink of choice. The fish was fresh, the batter lovely and crispy, chips very tasty and mushy peas, curry sauce perfect. Excellent service from the staff they couldn't do enough for you very Welcoming Very clean and tidy. We very much enjoyed it. A very big Thank you 👏 Deserves more than 5stars

This chip shop is a must! Wonder fresh cooked chips and fish, if we lived in matlock area this would be one of our best chip shops we would eat at. Even my daughter who doesn't like fish unless it tastes really fresh and she loved it. Staff very helpful and understanding and polite. They couldn't do enough to help us, Very clean too. I had a small (mini fish) and it was big enough to feed two of me, my mum had the same and she couldn't eat all her fish. We will definitely eat here again and I have told my sisters to eat here when and if they ever visit matlock bath or matlock. Thank you for the lovely food and help.

Found this quite mediocre. I had take away pie and chips. The pie wasn't ready and needed to be microwaved so fair enough, the chips were soft and portion size miserly. Not sure why it is so hard to get decent chips in Matlock Bath. Will stick to the Market Place chippy in Ashbourne in future.

On visiting Matlock bath, this restaurant route 66 is our very first stop on reaching Matlock bath as we know theres not another fish shop to compare with this one. The food is always hot, serves with a smile. The staff are always so polite and welcoming. I would like to say a big thank you to Lela, jade and Gazi. On our many visits we feel we have made wonderful friends. Now that spring has sprung this will be out twice weekly restaurant we will be visiting. Wishing you all the best from Bruce and Stewart travelled all the way from Nottingham.

Absolutely fabulous fish and chips, one of the best chip shops in matlock bath. We always enjoy coming here fabulous staff jade , Lela and Gazi. Food always hot and tasty. Definitely recommend.

Writing this whilst eating in the restaurant and can assure you it is the best fish and chips in Matlock Bath(yes, I’ve tried it all) plus, they also serve freshly cooked fish and hot chips on proper porcelain plates and cutlery instead of toothpicks!!

The food was just what we wanted - freshly cooked cod with great chips & sides.

Parking for cars and bikes lots of chippys lots of little nick nack shops. icecreams, rock,candyfloss,amusements,cable cars.lots of walks. canoe slalem in the river and boats in the river. So much to do for one little place.motorbike clothing shop Aswell.i would like to complain to the council though they have shut the public toilets it's rediculous you should be ashamed. Some cafes and shops toilets so you won't be caught short.

Great place to sit and have a beer, coffee or just a nice cup of Englisch brew ! Enjoy the sight of all the bikers and relax.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE! They kept us waiting 1hour and 30mins for a simple order without apology. When the food arrive sit was cold, had the wrong toppings, was over cooked and poor tasting. When we discussed the order with the restaurant and just eat they refused us a refund or any apology for this poor effort. I wouldn't order from here Ever again!

I came down for a ride out with friends, we decided to give Route 66 a try and we was very pleased with the service and the food. I had a burger, the presentation was lovely & the burger was delicious. my friends tried the breakfasts which was also very good. Will definitely be back again & I look forward to trying the fancy cakes they have!

The Town, the Road and the restaurant are fantastic. never been to a place quite like matlock. It's a seaside town no where near a seaside... with bikes everywhere. I'm not a rider but we stopped in for a Burger and the atmosphere was fantastic. if anyone in the Uk is looking for a nice destination for a cruise the Route 66 Coffee Lounge is the place to go!! Directed in as an "overspill" from Kostas next door. (same owner). Great service - well presented and good menu. I look forward to trying their Full English Breakfast soon. Staff were very positive and friendly.

A hot mid-summer’s day … and, after walking over High Tor from Matlock, much in need of a drink. Didn’t want to sit outside in the sun, and some of the likely places didn’t have air-conditioning. And then we came across Route 66, midway along the parade of shops and eateries that comprise the long crescent of Matlock Bath. Newly opened – so new, in fact, that not all of its signage is yet in place – we decided to call in. It was clean and welcoming. “Take a seat near the door, there …” suggested the proprietor, as he saw how hot we were, “… there’s a nice breeze”. And so there was. The coffee soon came, and we relaxed, cooled down and rested. “Fresh coffee beans,” we were reassured and – yes – the coffee was good. Although it’s nominally a coffee lounge, it’s perhaps fair to say that it’s more like an American diner inside, and the menu reflects that too. The all-day breakfast looked good, and I guess we’ll give that a go on a future visit. Perhaps bring our grandchildren along too. The toilets were modern and clean. And the server gladly refilled our water bottle before we set off for the return hike. We’ll definitely be back …
