Round Oak Crown Carvery in Dudley

We visited tonight after struggling to get in anywhere at Merry Hill. We had 5 hungry kids with us by this point and the pub was 99% full. They squeezed us in and were very kind and helpful. We had a mix of pizzas, carvery, vegetarian and of course ice cream! Food was all good. Service was excellent. Thank you so much.

Really not good, more interested in serving the too good to go customers queing at the door than full paying ones not yet served so very little left. Waited ages for gravy so meal was cold... won't return.

Even though website said it was open for breakfast from 9am, it wasn't! Phoned the number to be told they don't open till 11:30!. Not impressed!!

NEGATIVES Came with myself and my six year old son. Ordered my breakfast at the bar and asked about my son as he would only have a hash brown but was told I had to pay a child breakfast. £4.49 for a hash brown is ridiculous. Having looked at the menu I could of been charged for a baby bowl at 99p!!! Mushrooms are an extra charge which is ridiculous as they are a staple part of a full English. Food wasn't the hottest either. Furniture worn and tired also. POSITIVES Bacon, sausage and eggs cooked well which is the only reason the review isn't a 1 star

We’ve been coming here for quite a while now, & enjoying the delicious carvery. Although we’ve tried the pizza, burgers, & sandwiches, served with chips & salad. Carvery’s our favourite though, & probably the tastiest one that we’ve ever had. What I like about this place is the fact they you can have a small carvery, which is just enough for me. MrDW enjoys the traditional, or on hungry days the large (well, it’s massive actually) carvery. They serve breakfasts too, which we’ve not tried yet but shall look forward to doing so. It’s a nice place to be, lots of seating area, inside & out. Good drinks, great prices, & lovely staff.

Good selection on breakfast but shame you have to pay for mushrooms and kids when they only have 1 sausage Pub needs a clean but breakfast was okay

We had the carvery. The meat was nice enough, but the roast potatoes were burnt black and didn't taste nice at all. Cauliflower cheese was soggy. Yorkshire were the small oven frozen ones, not good at all. There was zero taste to the whole meal. Staff were nice enough, but I'll never eat there again due to the poor quality of food.

Opted for a cheeky mid-week Carvery. Had to go for the Full works and it was phenomenal, well worth the detour. Also one of the best Espresso Martini's I've had in a very long time. Already recommended to a few friends and will be going back with the rest of the family at some point in the future

Came here with my husband, the staff are incredibly welcoming especially for out-of-towners. We dealt with Brett who kindly seated us quickly and was super helpful with recommendations, however we opted for the classic pizza as it looked like the speciality. I had the pepperoni which was perfectly crisp and not over-done, but nice and juicy. My husband loves spice and opted for the Hot Honey Porker. I washed it down with possibly the best mojitoes I have ever had and at a bargain price of £12 for two! You can't get those prices down south! Finally we finished off with Bretts recommendation of the salted caramel profiteroles, which I would walk 500 miles for and more! You need to try these if you ever pop in! Plenty of parking on site, great atmosphere and something for everyone. We would certainly return, especially for the vibes! Thanks Brett and team!

We ordered takeaway from the website on 11th Feb 2024. The order was for 2 adult carvery costing £27.32 to be delivered by uber eats. Food was late, cold, and not even enough meat to feed 1 person let alone 2! The roast potatoes were all smashed up. We complained to the company who apologised & told us to get a refund from uber eats. However, our order isn't showing on there website and no help is available either. We then phoned back the restaurant who said there was nothing they could do. Be very careful about who & how you order your food from. We will certainly not be ordering again

Lovely food, amazing friendly staff, always have the best time and the food is hot with lots of choice from carvery to burgers and pizzas there's something for everyone.

Searching to book a good venue for a family catch up,and sunday lunch, based on their online menus, I made a 4pm reservation. An email advised us to be at the restaurant 15 mins early,we arrived 30 minutes to order a pre meal drink. We were told being early, to wait at the bar, to be called. Eventually our table was ready, and as requested a quiet location in the corner was reserved. Not being advised if waiter service was available, we ordered drinks and food on the app. Not being advised if we would be called to the buffer, we waited 20 minutes. Asking a member of staff, she showed us 4 small food vouchers on the end of our receipt. The restaurant was rammed full, a long Q , and the hot buffet table was a mess. No crackling with the pork, lumpy mash, hard roasts, and condiment dishes were empty. The service left a lot to be desired. Not to spoil our lunch, we chatted, finished the main course, which I have had much better quality and cheaper. 4 desserts were ordered on the app, after 30 minutes, a member of staff never checked our order on the till, but asked us. It arrived 10 minutes later. During payment their is a tip option,for service? With both orders, if we had no paid on ordering,we would have walked out.

At one point there were five members of staff having a chin wag at the host while 2 people have a que at the bar. When we asked for condiments, the waiter listened to one person went "alright" and walked off while others were asking, which just came across plain rude and people didn't get what they wanted. The restaurant wasnt even that busy, and it still took nearly 50 minutes to get our food. The food was mediocre at best. Menu states fries, but you get massive stodgy cold chips you'd find in a 90's primary school cafateria. No one checks the food is okay despite having at least 5 staff members on the shop floor, which it really wasn't. There's enough greese on the pizzas to run the entire kitchen for the day. The "chorizo" on the burgers, funnily enough, tastes exactly like peperoni. We had to clear our own glasses multiple times, so we had space on the table. Is there any point in having any waiting staff? The team clearly dont want to be there and barely any of them can crack a smile or have really any customer service skills. It all reflects in the service you receive, which was poor !
