Hubby bought small haddock, large cod and large fries with mushy peas. Lovely! The fish was wonderful, portions generous and it was still hot when he got it home. Really enjoyed it, fabulous! Will definitely go again.

he foods ok, nothing special. It’s kind of the last chance chippy when other chippies aren’t open. I think the main issue is the wait time, usually 30mins or so for a chicken and even if there is a chicken already cooked for someone else but the rest of their order is going take 30mins, they will still leave you wait around……. So I’m short foods ok, but not worth the wait.

Never go in the evening about 9pm cold stale chips every time and I'm local, not worth the money you pay for it you will end up not enjoying your meal and throwing it in the bin go somewhere else at that time but okay other times but not at end of evening, they leave them sitting in there and still sell them on and ask the full paying price just for them to go in the bin

Cooked fresh to order this experience is well worth the wait! The owner takes considerable pride in his offering and wants to sell it at its very best so this is the reason why food is only cooked to order

The cod was acceptable but the chips were diabolical. I went on Friday night at 5 to 6. The chips were almost white and luke warm. It seemed that they had not seen hot fat for hours. A VERY disappointing visit which I will not be repeating!

We had to stop... we had to get some food as we had been on the road since 5am! We came across this little fish shop in Swindon. I ordered a small chips, battered sausage and a bread roll. The chips were good, the sausage in batter and bread roll not so good.

This is a really good Chippy - always freshly cooked, never greasy. There are quite a few Fish & Chip shops in the area, and having tried many this is always our first port of call - highly recommended!

I was the first customer was given chips that were black a battered sausage that looked like it was yesterday's and my pie had pea sayce on top of the pastry and looked like it had been through the microwaved a few times. Please check my photos of shrunken soggy sausage and pea pie that looks like it's seen better days. Also that pie in the photo they charge £2.75. Also they tried to over charge me so check amounts and change I have good mind to make a report.

We use the Roughmoor Fish & Chip shop reasonably often, overall the food is pretty good. However I do think that since they hugely increased their menu the quality has suffered a little especially with the fish being very greasy as they don’t seem to allow the excess fat to drain after cooking. The taste , chips & service are good.

Terrible food, awful staff & overpriced rubbish. Kid on the tills had headphones in didn’t wanna listen to what I wanted, refused to cook food despite it being an hour before closing time. AVOID AVOID AVOID Just go down the road to any kebab place & you will get a better experience. My ‘chips in pitta’ had more salad than chips & the battered sausage had more batter than sausage. If you want to eat good food DO NOT GO HERE. Terrible, they do not care about anything BUT making money. Charging 35p for mayonnaise?!? After disputing the charge for mayonnaise, as I leaving this terrible chippy I could see the staff member mouthing about me in the reflection of the window, then when confronted he denied it all saying he was singing. Spineless, they couldn’t care seen less about thei food or customers. Will never ever be returning & I highly advise you to avoid like the plague.

I couldnt decide what to have so scanned the menu boards. I settled on a burger and some onion rings. The picture showed a pile of onions rings of various sizes coated in a crispy looking batter. What i got was a portion of breaded onion mush reformed into uniform ring shapes. I asked for lettuce and onion on the burger. There was no lettuce and a massive mound of onion on top of a mediocre burger. It was not cheap food but was certainly not accurately represented by the menu photographs. I would not have paid over £2 for processed onion rings when preparing and cooking proper ones would have been so easy and is what they promote. Very disappointing.

This place has been going slowly down hill over the past 18 months. It used to be the best around, great fish well cooked, and lovely chips in decent portion sizes. My recent experience was the worse yet, the fish seems to have shrunk again and it was very greasy and not well cooked. The chips were a disgrace, they looked as if they had been cooked in used engine oil! Besides looking revolting they were virtually cold, not crispy and tasted nasty. My recommendation would be to go somewhere else!

We planned a family night in after working in the garden and decided to get some fish and chips for every one My niece was going to treat us Well what can I say the chips arrived looking like they had been cooked in dirty oil The other fried food all looked over cooked and the pies were dry and pancake rolls not very nice Add to that the person in front in the queue returned her chips so what did they do rewrapped them and gave them to us - disgusting My niece didn’t like to complain and make a fuss but was really upset when she got home to us with the food All in all an extremely disappointing experience Will not be going there again

Great fish and chips, cod or haddock and the protions are more than generous. Love the giant haddock fish cakes too. Really friendly service as well.

I love my fish and chips and this place serves really good portions. Fish is always freshly cooked so there’s a bit of a wait if it’s busy, however it is worth waiting for , would highly recommend

We ordered 2 fish and 1 large chips to share. We had to wait a few minutes while our fiash was freshly cooked. It didnt take long but was crisp and delicious. Well worth the wait. We came here cos our usual chippy caught fire but will definately be back.

This place gets very busy on a Friday evening and I expected the food to be really hot and fresh because they were busy, I was wrong. The fish was greasy and the chips must have been out of the oil for a while. I have also noticed the portion sizes decreasing recently.

Best chippy for miles around. We usually collect cod and chips from here at least twice a month. Huge amount of chips if you order a "small portion". The fish is beautifully cooked for you as you wait.

Treated the whole family to supper, fish was ok but chips were so hard they were inedible- standards have dropped since shop expanded their menu

My second visit and everything was brilliant. My piece of haddock overflowed my dinner plate. How fabulous.. Large flakes of delicately cooked fish. I'll definitely be going again. Recommended

Me encantaba su pescado y patatas fritas como mi familia pero últimamente todo lo que te dan es muy grasiento y patatas fritas de pescado seco. Me dio otra oportunidad esta noche y una vez más el pescado muy grasiento y correosos. Literalmente de la aceite y paquete - ni siquiera permiten que el exceso de aceite para drenar. Es una pena porque solían ser bastante increíble.

Qué puedo decir de este lugar? La familia me encanta el pescado y patatas fritas, somos clientes asiduos durante muchos años. Comida excelente (aunque un poco caro), pero que ofrece una buena relación calidad-precio y merece la pena! Recientemente visité una tienda de pescado y Chip en Gales que ganó creo que el premio "Mejor en tipo de Gales, y puedo decir que comparando las dos, Pueblo en Swindon supera Roughmoor expectativas y es el mejor! Una vez nos dieron guisantes blandos por error en vez de salsa de curry, pero fue una bienvenida sorpresa, ahora la gente como guisantes blandos!

A superb local chip shop. All fish is cooked to order and its fresh. Chips are also piping hot and fresh. Lovely chips. Great fast and friendly service. Highly recommend.

Sorry but the prices are way OTT I don't mind paying for quality but it's just not there for the price being charged. I would expect more quality and portion size needs to be looked at .

Wir haben hier mehrfach jetzt Essen geholt. Der Fisch ist ganz gut, aber sicher keine Light Version. Die Pommes waren nichts für uns. Dick und sehr fettig, zuhause dann schon matschig. Grosser Fisch und Pommes und man kann sich kaum noch bewegen. Wir machen jetzt immer einen Salat zuhause und holen dann nur den Fisch dazu.

Used to be a local to us but we have moved now 10 miles further. However we still go back!!!Food is all cooked fresh chips are lovely. Very friendly service. Easy to park. Well priced. What else needs to be said. Well worth a visit on a sunny evening and sit next to the peatmoor lake and watch life pass you buy. Maybe then a pint in the pub opposite :).

I went today, as this place was highly recommended. First impressions are good. Excellent service and food cooked to order. The end result though was not so good. I ordered jumbo haddock - and told them I'm not keen on batter. I was offered unbattered fish, but I think a little batter stops the fish burning. So, I heard the order "lightly battered". Happy days ~ which didn't last. The fish was skiiny, with tons of batter, which was completely soggy. What a mess. No nice flakes of fish, mainly mush. The chips were fine, as was the curry sauce; but the main event was a huge disappointment. I'm not sure I'll go again... as there's a fabulous place at the bottom of Vic Hill.... It's just having to trudge into town which puts me off. Still, at least they are worth the effort! So, sorry, but I cannot recommend the chippy at Peatmoor.

Me and my family had been craving a fish and chips for months.... However I would not class this as a 'proper' fish and chip shop! The fish wasn't drained properly and the chips... Well they disappointed us the most, as they were oven chips?!!!! We could have cooked this at home and it probably would have tasted nicer and it definitely would have saved us some money! We won't be returning here again after such a let down like that!

We planned on getting a Chinese from the take-away next door one evening but it was closed so we decided on fish and chips instead and were so glad we did. We've been back four or five times this year and each time the fish has been perfectly cooked. So often fish is over-cooked and chewy in fish and chip shops but this one cooks everything to order and it's spot on. The portions are gigantic. We have two small cod and one small chips between us and there is always enough fish for the cat's late night snack. We've tried five different fish and chip shops in Swindon in recent years and this is by far the best both in quality and value.

This is, by far the best fish and chips we've had in a very long time!As the fish was prepared fresh to order, it was crisp, tasty, and obviously - fresh. Chips were also tasty. If you're after high quality, tasty fish & chips, head here - you'll be glad you did!

We had our first fish supper. The portions were huge. The batter on the Cod was crispy, tasty. Lots of lovely chips. The curry sauce was lovely. Would definitely go back.

I use this Fish & Chip shop once a week it's the best fish I've had it's cooked to order so always fresh.i have tried a few other fish and chips shops in swindon but have found none are up to this standard.The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

This chippy is always busy, but never a long wait. They will always cook the fish to order too. Large portions too. I travel from the other side of town to get my Fish and Chips here. Well worth passing several other closer chippys.

Reasonably prices, with extremely large portions. I would recommend this shop to anyone. I never have to wait long, and the staff are always friendly, even during busy times. Definitely a regular at this place!
