Rose Garden in Dumfries & Galloway

We moved to the area in May of 2023 and were looking for a great Chinese takeaway to take the place of the one we'd left behind in another part of the country! Tried two (one was absolutely dire and the other was passable). Then we tried this one and we've been returning regularly ever since. The staff are so obliging (even though I probably drive them a bit mad with specific requirements for my noodles) and the food is really good, with plenty of choice. Only ever had one instance where one of our favourites was really salty but it was back to normal the next time we ordered.

Brilliant wee place, we stayed at the Gorsebank camping site and the staff told us how good this place was, went for dinner and not disappointed. Staff we so lovely. From the outside it just looks like a pub, what else can you ask for really, quick pint then into the next room to dine in or take away, excellent wee find and will definitely go back

I’d heard mixed reviews of this place. Standard Chinese style restaurant in appearance. Big menu. My main course of fried noodles was the oiliest I’ve ever seen. It was pooling on my plate. I actually felt very queasy having eaten it. Doubt I’d go back.

We go here quite regularly, it is absolutely fabulous, we sometimes we go for lunch, they have a special lunchtime menu which is not only great food but a great price too. The main menu has a good variety of dishes, something to suit everyone. Fantastic value for money. The staff are so friendly and smiley, really helpful, I love going to the rose garden and would highly recommend it. You can also pick up takeouts too from there, it’s really worth a visit.

5 star, ordered a collection, staying at southerness caravan park, a 15 drive away, outstanding service and food, and was still hot when I got back to park!

We thought we would try this chinese for a change and we were glad we did. We phoned in for a collection and everything was ready when we got there. The food was delicious, the portions were a great size and service was great, its one of the nicest Chinese meals we have had in a long time, so we will definitely be back!

Went to the Rose Garden after a recommendation from a friend, absolutely fantastic, the staff were friendly and attentive, the food was amazing, good sized portions and perfectly cooked and presented, and the bill was a surprise too, it was well cheaper than I was expecting, I even questioned the staff to make sure it was right, a really lovely evening. I run a B and B and have taken some menus away for my rooms I am that confident my customers would like it, they even do a lunch menu which looks great and I’ll be off to try that next week! Well done you’re doing just great and I wish the owners every success for the future.

Staying in the area on holiday, I was told this restaurant had lovely food. On entering, I was not impressed by the rather sparse and slightly shabby appearance. However, things soon looked up....... The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The service was very good and when the food arrived it was really excellent; cooked perfectly and very tasty. The chef really knows what he's doing. Delicious! AND great value for money. We'll definitely be back when in this area .Highly recommended.

Having spotted the cheap lunch menus outside and what looked like an old garage forecourt we weren’t expecting much.With very little choice of places to eat in this area, we decided take the plunge and eat at the Ship Inn in Dalbeattie.Pub and pool table area to the right and on the left a basic cafe layout and surprisingly extensive Chinese, Mongolian and Thai menu for eat in and takeaway. We ordered a selection of starters including a mixed starter for two and and salt pepper chicken goujons which were lovely and the prawn crackers were also nice and regularly topped up. Our mains included Thai green curry, Japanese beef udon noodles and beef with spring onions (without ginger) and fried rice, they were all good sized portions and very tasty, although the dishes could be a little bit spicier. Service was excellent and the restaurant was clean and Covid secure.A secret gem that you could easily miss, however don’t let the outside of the building deter you. Takeaways were also a popular choice,with a steady stream of people.

We had a lovely Chinese takeaway from here on Saturday night, food was so tasty, fresh and hot , was good value for money and generous portions, would definitely recommend The Rose Garden .

Just had an outstading takeaway on wednesday, sorry i didnt get the assistants name, service, speed and quality was fabulous, value for money, an absolute gem of a takeaway sooo looking forwars to being able to sit in and have a nice glass of wine with lovely food 😁

FAB Chinese take out! Great value for money and wonderful fresh tasty food. Love the online order service that is currently provided. We will definitely be visiting again when we are back in Dumfries! Thank you.

Im very disappointed that someone has informed all the town that they had got a Chinese takeaway on a Tuesday. Where the restaurant is always closed on a Tuesday.😂😂 Also to comprehend with government guidance id like to know why user great_white_cal! Thought it was a necessary trip to come to our wee town, especially after there are lockdowns in place in Glasgow. You mate are an absolute cockwamble . We would like to ask you to keep the covid19 virus contained in glasgow. Also you must have super powers to be able to get into a restaurant that is closed on a Tuesday Hahaha. 😂😂🤣🤣 Also i take it you are an expert at cooking Chinese food. So would like to see you making things on the menu. This little business has been here for years. All restaurants cook differently so obviously there better in Glasgow so i suggest you stay there. First time using this Chinese tonight can honestly say best Chinese food I have tasted in a long time. Don't be fooled by the outside. The fried rice and special fried rice is one of the best I have tasted. Had a Chinese Tuesday night from See Horse Chinese take away worst I have ever tasted no joke avoid at all cost.

Excellent Chinese takeaway, sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style, lemon chicken, chow mein. Food was ready on time and delicious and good value. When in Dumfries area will definately use again. It was further to drive than closer takeaways in Castle Douglas, but we looked at reviews, went for this one as consistently appeared better and we were not dissapointed.

Ordered a meal, crispy beef in a Peking sauce with noodles, quick service and very tasty. Price very reasonable
