The Rose & Crown looks a little out of place, sitting right next to a factory complex, on a sharp bend on a busy main road. A big beer tent hides the main facade of the building and makes it look a little uninviting, however DO NOT miss this pub. We went on a Tuesday lunchtime when passing through Tenbury after a trip to Leominster. I'll be honest and say that we have passed many times before and have not given a thought to stopping there. MISTAKE! It's a 'proper' pub rather than a bistro type place, with a cosy bar, plenty of tables for eating, I'd guess that it's very much a local's drinking place in the evening. The barmaid was very welcoming, we were looked after from the moment we walked in to when we left. Food was excellent! The lunch menu is what I'd call traditional pub grub. I started with the soup of the day - tomato, my favourite and really tasty. Sue didn't have a starter and went for the Chilli con Carne with 50/50 rice & chips, and declared it to be excellent, if a little tame for her tastes. She did say that she would have it again when we come back. I went for the Cod, chips and mushy peas. A very large piece of fish with chips that were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We both commented on the fact that ALL of the elements of our dishes were hot rather than some bits being just warm. All in all, a great experience which we will repeat again sometime soon!

Still great under the chef licencee Barry, and his wife. Haven't met Barry, met his wife who is lovely, but cannot remember her name. Bar staff welcoming. Philippa is a star. Sunday lunch extremely good value. Plenty of vegetables. Well cooked. I ask for seperate gravy s it can be too generous. Weekly bar snacks very good too. I was surprised by how many scampi I had in a basket

The welcome was warm, waitress was friendly & service good. We both ordered fish & chips, it arrived very quickly & the chips were good. Sadly fish was sloppy inside very wet and unappetising. The batter tasted like it was fried in stale oil. We give feedback to say it was not the best meal. Hubby was not well that night or the next day. Maybe their other food is good, but we would not be persuaded to return.

Amazing Sunday Roast Dinner! What can I say? WOW! The food was absolutely stunning & the portion sizes are very generous and such good value for money! 4 of us had the beef dinner - OMG it literally melted in your mouth! The gravy was very tasty (I'm a big gravy person, so this was perfect for me!) and the variety of fresh vegetables was great too; green beans, cauliflower cheese, cabbage, roast potatoes, new potatoes, carrots! It was an absolutely delicious meal & I would - actually we ALL would - highly recommend! The other member of our party had the lamb dinner and said it was just as good too! Beautifully cooked & such a generous portion again too. The customer service received was warm, welcoming & friendly! We have never actually eaten in the Rose & Crown before - and we were pleasantly surprised at how far it goes back and across! It is such a beautiful, proper country style pub in Burford - once inside you don't feel as though you are close to the road at all! Perfect for a Sunday afternoon lunch. We will definitely be returning & spreading the word! Also, just a little mention to the female owner (sorry I didn't catch your name) she was just so lovely and friendly! I booked through FB during the week with no problems at all, she was more than happy to help & very welcoming on our arrival & throughout our visit. Thank you.

We went for an evening meal and B & B on 16/12/2022 with friends. The fillet steaks were cooked to perfection and very tasty with chips, onion rings, mushrooms and either a salad or lovely vegetables. Plenty of delicious food. For starters there was a good and excellent choice, all very good too. We couldn’t mange a desert as we had eaten very well. Compliments to the chef Barrie. Beers and wines good. Good choice of breakfast and freshly cooked. Very tasty and satisfying. The bedrooms were comfortable, great nights sleep . Bathroom recently refurbed with large shower cubicle, lovely towels and all very clean. The staff were all very efficient, lovely, chatty and made you feel welcome. Nice pub, despite location may not be appealing at first, due to be just out from town and factory next door. But worth to visit, car park qs well. Cosy decor. On third time we discovered nice sitting area behind bar, with cozy sofas and tv. Nice service from lady's behind a bar. Did eat once and it was soooo much better than expected. Shame not doing food all day long or at least sandwich, snack menu.Lunch service and then dinner,i think from 6pm, what is quite late for us. The landlord gave us a warm welcome as we arrived, especially the dog who was given his own bowl of water and biscuits. The local beer was excellent. Wine choice very limited. We started with a shared platter, which was so so - the home-made curried nuts were the best bit. However, the main courses were all very good. Steaks were tasty and cooked to perfection. Fish - light batter and fresh fish. Falafel burger was tasty, as was the lasagne. No issues with social distancing measures. All very unpretentious and honest. An impromptu evening out with my partner and my mum. The chap who served us this evening was very attentive, chatty and knowledgeable - a main credit to our lovely evening. My mum and partner both opted for a pizza with the menu offering a great selection of toppings. I had the beef lasagne, salad, coleslaw and garlic bread - as I had my mother with me, I couldn't quite be too outspoken as to how lovely it was as she would have taken offence towards her own lasagne! Not something I would ever usually order in a restaurant but it was absolutely incredible and a perfect portion size. Drinks and meals both very reasonably priced especially given how fresh and homemade the food was. My only very tiny gripe was that the feta with our olives to start was covered with a coating of congealed olive oil from the coldness of the fridge. Our waiter explained that upon delivering the starter, which was perfectly acceptable but it was an odd texture and I could understand some people being put off by it. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable experience and will definitely be back.

Spent New Year’s Eve at The Rose & Crown and had a lovely evening of entertainment, food and company. Good menu catering for all tastes and requirements including vegan options. This is a traditional English pub at its best with the current landlords apparently recently celebrating ten years at the helm. We stayed over and witnessed the local hunt gathering outside the pub which I understand is an annual tradition. The spectacle of the hounds, horses and riders of all ages and gender outside a traditional English pub was a sight that spans over hundreds of years within this local and national rural community. After an amusing speech from the head of the hunt and also committing to the gathered crowd that the hunt was operating within the confines of the hunting legislation, the colourful gathering set off through the town of Tenbury Wells and off into the countryside.

Other dishes included Chicken Liver Pate, Chicken Goujon Wrap, A Fish Lasagne and Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas (this was also supplied by request as Fish and salad), and a well presented rare Sirloin Steak. We also had Bread & Butter Pudding, Sorbets and Espresso Coffee with ice cream. We loved the olde worlde feel of the pub and after we had eaten, sat on the sofas by the fire. Could have stayed there all afternoon, sooooo comfy. The young lady waitress/barmaid was friendly as was the owner who deserved a rest after a busy lunchtime! Eventually we went to the bar to pay and were surprised to only be charged 50% of the menu prices as they have a February offer on. Have to say this is one of the best pubs we’ve been into recently. We were in a party of 6 trying out pre Theatre Supper. Good selection of ales but service not so good. In fact had we have ordered Starters we would not have made the curtains opening. We arrived in plenty of time and ordered our drinks and meals and whilst the drinks arrived fairly quickly we had to wait quite a while to be shown to our table. I ordered gammon which could be described as a large thickish slice of bacon other than the fish and chips dishes all other meals were a trifle sparse. We risked 3 sweets and these only just about in time to scoff them up quickly before having to go. Perhaps they may have been slightly understaffed and as such will probably try again when we next visit the theatre and book say an extra 1/2 hour earlier. The restaurant itself is pleasant but the table for 6 could have been larger as we all felt a little cramped on what would have been I assume a table for 4. Nice touch the rolled towels in the toilets. The actual quality of the food was very good so we'll give it another go in November .

Excellent food and service. Generous portions. The price was about average for the area. I would certainly come back here if I had the opportunity in future and I can't say more than that.

Booked a twin room, not spacious and you could only see the TV from one of the beds, no room to sit elsewhere. Ground floor room with fork lift truck regularly zooming past window literally 2 metres from window in adjoining car park. Nice if you like fork lifts.

We stopped here for lunch during a recent visit. I had the lasagne, chips and salad ( which was nice) and my husband and daughter(child's portion) had chips, fried egg and ham. Unfortunately the ham was cold and didn't reflect the description on the menu. We had nice desserts. Washed down with 3 minerals. Total cost 43 pounds. Pricey for what we got

We arrived at the Rose & Crown to meet some friends, decided that we would like to eat - without booking - but there was no problem at all, the lovely staff soon had us sorted with menus & drinks. The food was fresh, hot and gorgeous - staff were excellent, friendly and very welcoming. Would recommend it to anyone, lovely atmostphere and a lovely pub to boot!

We were visiting the area and came here for a meal on our host's recommendation. The food was lovely, the landlord and staff very pleasant, and we came back again for the beer festival on Saturday.

I spent 3 nights in the rose and crown and I cannot fault it lovely rooms, nice staff and great food. What more could you ask for. The air conditioning was a god send with the weather during my stay.

We stayed just one night but wish it was longer. The evening meal and breakfast were both of a very high standard, the staff were really welcoming and friendly and the room was spotless, comfortable and had everything you could need.

My son booked the rose & crown for our birthdays as a surprise, as we stopped here before and always went on about how lovely it was . It was exactly the same so lovely & cosy, the staff and owners are just the loveliest people so professional but so down to earth. Nothing is to much trouble for them , they will go out their way to please & help you. The regulars are so welcoming too. We had a lovely evening meal which I can definitely recommend and sent us a lovely surprise pudding out which was a lovely touch . Oh and the breakfast is amazing. We will definitely be going back hopefully on 1 of their themed nights .

Stopped off for lunch and it really was outstanding. I had the prawn wrap and my husband the prawn sandwich. Nicely served on aboard with salad and chips. Very friendly staff who even bought out a bowl of water for the dogs. Could not wish for better. Many thanks

We have been a few times, I dont think we will again. The meal was simple, too too long, the Burger was burnt, the chips for both meals appear to have been re-fried, they were very oily. I can only do that if I have tried to re-fry or have cooked them too slowly, whichever way they were awful. The steak my wife had was apparently very good.

Went for the first secret diner club evening that is run by Jess who owns the fab 'not today seitan' in liar liar..what can i say?.the food was on another level. Litrally the best vegan food in Oswestry and way surpasses anything else available in a vegan cafe in Oswestry. The food was beautifully presented, the flavours were amazing and the cocktails were beautiful too. Really hope the owner decides to run these evenings on a regular basis although once word gets around i imagine getting a table will be really difficult. Its great to see a vibrant young business do so well and honestly the co trading with Liar liar is such a brilliant idea. Two amazing businesses running side by side. I cannot recommend this highly enough, the best vegan resturant/cafe in town by far

Honestly the best pub meal I've had in years! The steak and Guinness pie was delicious and chips better than many chippies. How they do that with bargain prices baffles me. Highly recommend
