Ate at the Rose & Crown whilst staying at a local B&B, whose owner had recommended the pub. Very friendly landlord, large plates of excellent quality food, to go alongside the extremely good service. Would be nice to be more local to it, to use it again, but would certainly look to eat there again if in the area. Highly recommend.

19 of us for a birthday celebration. We all had a perfectly cooked and presented meal . The service was second to none. I have only ever heard complimentary comments about the Rose and Crown and they are well deserved. If you want a reasonably priced excellent meal with a very friendly service you will find it at the Rose and Crown

We went to the Rose and Crown on a Friday night with friends when staying in Sandford. None of us had been previously. It was a really good experience. Everyone working there was very friendly and welcoming, the choices and quality of food were really good - I think all six of us had something different from the menu and enjoyed it, plus excellent beer and cider. Service was great and prices reasonable. Looking forward to coming back to visit again when we're in Sandford. The only disappointment is that I don't live nearer allowing me to visit more regularly.

I was excellently served by a young waiter. He was kind and patient and remembered our order perfectly. He was attentive to our requests and was very understanding and kind to the younger children we had with us. He really was shining. I couldn’t help but tip him and I had to ask for his name which was josh foxford. A true star!

This was our second night out in SANDFORD, (The Rose & Crown is actually in Sandford, NOT Crediton proper). We previously ate at the other pub here, & were slightly disappointed. Without a booking, they initially said they were full with Christmas parties. However, they fitted us in, & we enjoyed a great very friendly atmosphere. We were made very welcome by both the hosts, their waitresses, & the other guests. One of whom greeted us the following day in the estate agent's. (Thanks Kim, made my day!). We both enjoyed our meal, & I enjoyed their good value wine. We plan on returning.

We recently stayed a couple of days in Sandford with relatives. The pub is only open on certain days so on Thursday night the relatives ordered takeaway fish and chips. They were ready on time to bring home, individually wrapped for the six of us they were piping hot and delicious. A very enjoyable meal. Well done to all at the Rose and Crown.

Visited yesterday for roast lunch with my brother and our four children. We had a mix of beef and pork and the kids all had kids roasts. It was exceptional. Hands down one of best roasts I’ve ever had. Crispiest roast potatoes, generous yummy gravy, loads of veg and colli cheese. Lots of crackling and a huge Yorkshire pud. The kids cleared their plates too. They shared a few puddings, the Belgian waffles with caramel sauce and biscoff crumb was heavenly. It’s a shame we live the other side of exeter. Shall just have to visit my brother more often so w e can visit again. Lovely friendly land lady and staff too. Highly recommend this friendly village pub.

Not having been inside a pub for well over a year this was a lovely way to break that dry spell! Since our lost visit the pub has had a makeover, but the great atmosphore and brilliant food are just the same. The sunday roast is a thing of beauty - I had roast beef, the two other people in our party had rump of lamb - all done to perfection, very generous portions with a choice of vegetables and a beautiful cauliflower cheese. Other pub classics are also on offer, and son was very happy with his scampi and chips. Wahed down with a very well kept pint of Proper Job, and finished off with a round of puddings (cheese and biscuits for me). Very friendly service from the young staff, deftly overseen by the friendly lady. Couldn't have been happier....proper food in a proper pub. We'll definitely be back.

We had a Sunday lunch takeaway here this week. It was great. Very hot and well packaged. The portions were very generous and the meal itself was delicious - tender beef, five vegetables (including cauliflower cheese), huge roast potatoes, big yorkshire puddings, gravy. It was such a heartening treat after months and months of being shut in. Thank you Rose and Crown. We'll be back (and in a good way).

So I’ve heard lots of good rumours about the Rose and Crown in Sandford near Crediton. Having spent the day looking round shops and exploring the beautiful mid-Devon countryside we agreed it was time for some dinner. We visited this pub last week, as a family, on a recommendation and were very pleased with our visit. The staff were welcoming and the eating area was comfortable and gave enough room to accommodate a table of 7. The menu content had sufficient range for most appetites without over-stretching the expectations from a kitchen and restaurant/pub of this size. In addition to the menu though was a comprehensive 'specials' board giving seasonal dishes and highlighting the pub specialities. I chose one of the dishes from the specials board being the 'duck and wild mushroom pudding'. I was assured that the 'pudding' was a 'light pudding' and the staff weren't wrong. It was absolutely delicious!!!! It was accompanied with a side dish of vegetables (the red cabbage being particularly tasty) and new potatoes. The portions were exactly right for me, so I didn't feel daunted by a huge plateful of food but equally felt full once I'd eaten it all.

Amazing little gem, I came here with family and had a great time, friendly quick service and stunning food. I had the fishcake starter - came out perfectly cooked and a lovely little side salad, followed by a salmon fillet (which I picked off a specials board) the salmon was flaky and very well seasoned, served with a side salad of pepper, mushrooms and courgettes and little new potatoes. I was so impressed that I felt like a dessert after due to the portion sizes being so big only had a mint choc-chip sundae, 10/10 would return

Ok, enough of driving around Devon's wonderfully narrow country lanes, on the hunt for a village pub that's 1, open and 2, serves food on a Saturday lunch time !So imagine our delight to find all of the above, the Rose and Crown. Not quite a typical quaint village pub , at first impressions more of a local's pub , and judging by the number of people in the bar , a popular watering hole. Still needs must so in we go.First thing to say was a very warm and friendly welcome ⭐️A good choice of both national and local beers ⭐️⭐️And a fairly large choice of food , with a menu and lunchtime snack and special's board ⭐️⭐️⭐️Ordered the rack of ribs with onion rings and skinny fries, to be honest not the best ribs, but not bad either and good value for money. All in a good little pub , really good service , and Good honest pub grub !Oh and a large car park at the rear !Thank you R'n'C for saving the beer quest day ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We hadn't been to the Rose and Crown for many years. Back in those days the pub itself was more stranger-comfortable. Now the local middle-aged blokes in their old rock band sweatshirts cluster round the bar on - what I suspect - are their own dedicated stools. And why not? Locals and regulars make a pub. Just beyond the crisps and the pints was the sunlit dining area. Here we were seated and very well served throughout the meal. Lunch was roast beef or pork with all the trimmings, and with fresh vegetables - peas, carrots, cabbage and mashed swede - presented in a large dish. Gravy was in a jug. On the side cauliflower cheese, great roast potatoes and crispy yorkshires completed a wonderful hearty, warming feast. Puddings included spotted Richard. Extra spoons were happily provided to those who intended to not order but thieve from others' dishes. Everyone was happy. O - and the beer was fab. Service was both efficient and friendly - not as common a combination as we'd all like. I'm never going to the Lamb again. (Not really true actually, but you get my spirit.)

I visited with friends for a Christmas meal during the first week of December and had a wonderful time. We were greeted by two cheery (!) chappies behind the bar who were quick to engage in conversation. The food was lovely and served piping hot (which isn't always the case with your veggies)! The table service was very efficient with the waitresses making sure all was ok for us and asking if we needed more of anything and we took quite a shine to the handsome waiter! There was another group of ladies having a lovely time singing along to the Christmas music very enthusiastically which was our main source of entertainment that evening, but it was fab! Lovely atmosphere and can't wait to go again!

We had a booking for 6pm as we had 3 young children but did not realise that the pub did not open until 6 pm and turned up 10 minutes early. When the staff saw us outside in the rain they immediately opened up which we thought was really nice. The staff were extremely pleasant and friendly and the service was excellent. The food choice was quite limited and fairly basic but was well cooked and very tasty so we had no complaints especially from the kids who enjoyed their kids meals and ice creams. If you are looking for a child friendly place with simple and reasonably priced food then I would recommend you visit this pub. To get here from Launceston was difficult, down narrow lanes and road closures. Really enjoyed the ambiance of the cafe, the coffee was good, the food was OK, just a bread based sandwich with no dressing like salad, perfectly reasonable for a bikers themed cafe. What I did find unexpected was the variety of customers not all of which came on bikes. It felt like a locals cafe as well. Nice

Old broken sofa & junk all over the place. Scruffy & dirty has never been trendy. Shame the food wasn’t better. Very basic. Interesting response from owner.
