Called in for lunch on the recommendation of a friend, and we were very impressed! Friendly, helpful staff (shout out to Sorcha who was excellent) and delicious toasties and especially good cake. We'll be back!

I absolutely love this place. I have been twice and cannot wait to go again. The coffee is amazing and the wine just blows your mind. The staff are so friendly and are passionate about the wine they serve, talking us through the origins of the wines and what they are best paired with, plus keeping you hydrated with water in between drinks. Cannot fault this place at all.

Really looved this place, caters for workers, lunch, coffee, wine, great atmosphere, good prices for lunch. Loved the style of the place.

This is a cosy and relaxed cafe with comfy seating and a very chilled vibe. I really love the sourdough toast and also used to have a hot chocolate regularly although the last one I had was not the best quality. But the range of tea and coffee is very good - they offer Yorkshire tea which is always very nice. The menu is on the pricy side but worth it for an occasional treat in a nice venue with regularly changing art displays.

We came to visit Liverpool for a few days and stumbled upon this gem to fuel our sightseeing on the first day. The coffee was great and we noticed they had a fantastic selection of wines. When the weather took a turn for the worst we went back during our trip for a bottle of wine. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and we were ecstatic with the recommendations- the wine was delicious! Couldn’t recommend this place enough

Lovely pit stop for coffee and the best banana bread ever on a recent trip to Liverpool

Visited this place as part of the new Liverpool restaurant tour ( you eat in 6 places with a drink on a Sunday afternoon ) fantastic wine selection and very enjoyable meat and cheese plate. will be back very soon ! it does make me laugh how some negative comments about this place are by people who buy a coffee and then think it acceptable to take up a table for the next 2 hours while they work on their laptops

Stumbled upon this place whilst taking a mooch around the shops on bold street and so pleased that we decided to give it a try. . This cafe doubles as a specialist wine bar / retailer with many vintages from around the globe available by the glass, bottle, or take home. Whilst we weren't intending to purchase wine, I would return to sample a glass in the future as the orange wine has me intrigued. . The cafe offered table service and we ordered some coffees and hot chocolate for the kids I also sampled the banana bread, which was incredibly tasty and something I would happily order again. The pastries also looked amazing and plenty of dinners were enjoying them. . The cafe is very airy and spacious and you don't feel packed in or uncomfortable. It's definitely somewhere I'd return to with a good book. . Great mix of people and somewhere that just leaves you feeling good. I know I'm coming back soon....

We popped into Ropes and Twines on impulse, and it was one of the highlights of our Liverpool trip. Sorcha was incredible, very knowledgable and recommended the perfect wines for us. It was great to chat to someone with such a passion for great wines. We will be back!

Croque monsieur was great, first time seeing filter coffee during my short trip in the uk so I was happy about that

Great coffee, friendly knowledgeable service, and good no alcohol wine!

I was extremely disappointed in having visited this establishment as a solo visitor looking to have a coffee and read my book for awhile. On arrival the staff member approached straight away and, when I asked for a table for one, she asked me to sit at the bar. I clarified whether I could sit at any of the (3 or 4) empty 2 seater tables and she said only the bar. I was not there with a laptop, nor intending to 'overstay my welcome', however I was made to feel like an afterthought as a single person and not a valued customer. Additionally the bar stools were quite uncomfortable. Like other reviewers the focus of this establishment appears to be on profit, packing as many people in as possible and less on valuing customers. I will take my custom to places that do not discriminate against people attending alone as opposed to in couples. Liked that free tap water was provided. Coffee was fine.

Pleasant wine bar with a good selection of wines, some of which are quite unusual. Quiet and nice surroundings. Personally, I think wine should be drunk with food, so I felt that they should provide simple snacks (even peanuts) if a bottle of wine has been ordered, especially at these prices. Nice, but paying attention to a couple of simple 'added value' things would help.

Coffee was good, oolong tea also nice. Wine, red wine was ok too.

When it's almost April, almost 2c & raining & almost all museums are closed due to strikes & you're wondering what am I going to do for next 2 days, this cafe was a very nice place to rest & revive. Coffee was very nice, as was the bread & butter pudding

Lovely bar snacks and brilliant wine

Dreadful experience and charged for an undrinkable bottle of wine, wine was very vinegary and no offer to swap was made. Staff made us feel very uncomfortable and the whole experience spoilt what had been a lovely day

Absolutely appalled at the service that I have received today at this establishment. I ordered a coffee and a cake with my friend and shortly after receiving the food we were asked [with no apology, or appreciation] to move to another table, as a family have arrived and need to be seated here. We obliged, under the impression that the family would be around 5 or 6 members to justify the displacement of current, paying customers - who in all laws of business and customer service, should be prioritised over new customers. I look back after being seated on a shared table for 8, and only 3 family members had sat on our previous table, begging the question as to why we were moved in the first place. After around an hour, I was ordered [not asked - exact words were "I'm going to move you to the bar in a bit", whilst walking away from me] to move to the bar, which is when I expressed my dissatisfaction with the way that I have been treated. The owner's response to this was that he feels sad rejecting paying customers at the door [insinuating that I myself am a squatter and am not paying], and that this is a small business so it is completely appropriate for him to ask me to move, when no one else has been moved, all said in the most dismissive tone possible, barely able to acquire an apology from him. I then decided to leave and further expressed my disappointment at the service to the lady who was taking payment, and I expressed that due to not being treated as a paying customer, I did not feel comfortable paying. To which she replied that I had ate and drank, so I had to pay. Overall, I am disappointed to say that I observed a stark difference in the way I [a presenting muslim woman] was treated, as compared to other [white majority] customers were treated. If you are a POC, or a muslim woman especially, I would strongly urge you to stay away from this establishment due to the covert prioritisation of revenue over customer satisfaction through adequate service. It's a shame, as it is a lovely place with good food, but not worth paying towards a staff culture of clear resentment, dismissal and disrespect. Response to owner's reply: Thank you for your prompt and thoughtful reply, I only wish this was reflected in your service. To clarify a few things, I was the only customer who was moved yesterday in the middle of eating their food, and I was the only customer told to move twice. Please pay close attention to my choice of words - I was *told* not asked to move. Perhaps the customers that were understanding of being told to move were: A) asked, not told B) not in the middle of eating and drinking what they had ordered C) attended to in a manner that was befitting of a small business that prides itself on respect and customer satisfaction It is worth noting, that if you have a read through your reviews, there are multiple customers with very similar experiences to mine, this blatant disregard for customer comfort and satisfaction doesn’t seem to be an isolated event. It is a shame that staff ruin what would otherwise be a perfect experience. I received my drink at 12:50, and left the cafe at 14:50 exactly, so I had not been sat there for 3 hours with one drink, and to be frank I have spent more time writing this review than I did in your establishment. I am not criticising your decision to prioritise larger groups on the bigger tables, I am criticising the apparent inability to express this upon being seated, as opposed to moving your customers around, with no apology or regard, like chess pieces. And to finish, it is NOT for you to decide whether your cafe is a welcoming place for all, it is for your customers to decide. The day I visited the vast majority of the cafe was of one certain background, and I unfortunately saw a stark difference in the way I was treated and spoken to, to the way the other customers were attended to. You do not get to disregard my experience with generalist statements about diversity, when I was made to feel incredibly uncomfortable. Best wishes

I have only been in here for coffee. The place looks up market with a real wine bar feel. Automatically I feel relaxed in here. The coffee is brought to my table as well as a bottle of water and a glass. I pay when I leave. The staff are pleasant and professional making this feel like a great experience overall. The coffee is really good quality too. So far I have just used this place for a quick coffee. I can see me using this more and more often

Just the most idyllic place. Could spend hours there.

I'd first like to say that this coffee shop is perfect. If I was to design a coffee shop, this is exactly how I'd run it. How've the staff aren't. I went in for a coffee and a bag of the speciality coffee beans used by the shop. As I go to buy it , the cashier st the desk looks me up and down and asks , do you really know how much this is? Now , if this was super high end, 90+ coffee for 80 quid a bag,then maybe I'd be less hesitant to write this, but it's cheaper than most other speciality coffee that i buy online. I felt so judged for that question and it was wholly inappropriate.

Great tasting tuna melt and latte

Visited around 11.30 on Wednesday 3rd January with my Daughter for coffee as we were impressed with it on a previous visit. The cafe was fairly quiet & we were aware of 2 staff. We made ourselves known & were told to sit down as it was table service. 10 minutes passed & neither members of staff moved from their positions, this was until someone they knew came in & then all 3 were very animated & chatty & the conversation continued for at least another 5 minutes. After the person left, neither staff moved from their positions. We gave it another 5 mins & then we put our coats back on & left. Absolutely appalling service !!! & VERY disappointing. We won’t be back.

Great coffee shop especially for creatives and photographers to meet eat and drink and discuss ideas and projects. Loverly atmosphere and helpful team that work hard to make such a great caffe wine bar.

Fantastic coffee shop in Liverpool. The grilled cheese sandwich I got was easily the nicest I've ever had. The v60 brewed coffee also very smooth. Great service, atmosphere and food! Definitely recommend

me and my boyfriend came on sunday and there is always such a nice buzz and atmosphere in here and the staff are incredible. coffee always tasty and tried the banana bread which was next level ! best on bold street 10/10 recommend x

Did a bit of solo shopping on Bold street today. Popped in for a coffee...ended up getting banana loaf and a red wine too. Just lovely, staff are super friendly and what I ordered was really nice! I was given a glass and bottle of water as soon as I sat down at the bar. Warm banana loaf was *chefs kiss* and the coffee was gorgeous (it was Nicaraguan, I asked!!) Red wine was lovely too. I could have sat there all afternoon but aside from looking like a lush 🤣, they were busy so I trotted off for a bit more shopping. The food coming out looked really nice and it was reasonably priced. Will definitely return but bring the husband next time so I can drink more wine!! 😂💙💙

This place is a jewel. Comfy for dogs & humans. Everything I've tried there has been scrumptious & the house-made hot choc is my fave. Quality!

Hatte einen Americano mit Milch bestellt. Geschmeckt hat dieser "Kaffee" wie der Rest vom Rest von irgendetwas. Noch Nie einen dermaßen schlechten wirklich schlechten Americano bekommen. Konnte dieses Brackwasser nach einem Schluck nicht weiter Trinken

You get served once at your table, after that, the staff will not come back. No disabled toilet, I asked where the bathroom was and a surly female server pointed and said "down the stairs" and walked away. I had to hobble down some winding wooden stairs to use the bathroom, I was in agony, especially trying to get back up them, but I had no choice. Very disappointing.

Fantastic coffee (one of the best I've had) and great cakes.

We only stopped to grab a coffee whilst out for the day. Without a shadow of doubt, the espresso was the worst I've had in a very long time. In this area there are plenty of options, if its coffee you need, then I'd definitely check out somewhere else.

A really lovely, relaxed place to enjoy drinks and snacks. My third time visiting, I love that the 'by the glass' menu changes frequently so I feel encouraged to try something a little outside my usual order comfort zone. All wines are chilled to their individual perfect temperature, so every glass is served to perfection. The coffee smells delicious though I've only been in with wine in mind. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, always willing to help with the wine order. I really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the fact you aren't rushed.

A fantastic, cosy wine bar. Very knowledgeable staff who spent a lot of time explaining lots of different wines to us. The wine we eventually chose was delicious. It was from the Loire valley, France The atmosphere here was also very relaxed and inviting. We'll definitely be back to spend more time here and to try the cheese board!

Coffee was delicious and made to perfection . All the staff members so polite and welcoming. Was lovely for a non drinker to sit in with a coffee, later on in the evening on a Saturday night, to catch up with a friend in a relaxed upmarket place. Will definitely come back again.

It’s a very professional specialty coffee shop as well as a wine bar and a charcuterie. We’ve only been here for a coffee break. Flat white and latte were good! And the pain au chocolat tasted great.

Visited the shop today. We’ve ordered a coffee and sit by the couch. Everything was fine and we were pretty enjoy about the shop. Out of sudden there’s a senior staff came over and asked us to leave impolitely. Just because we was sitting there for an hour. He said: normally the dining time was an hour, if you would like to stay here would be be able to move to the bar area. while we discussed whether should we go or not and the senior went to the counter and send us the bill. Perhaps, I guessing he just being kind to us. We paid for the coffee and move to the bar area, totally understand because we might just don’t meet his spending target to qualify to seat at the couch.. he must be really struggle with handling his mental and supervisor. Feel pity for him. Sat at the bar, and he told one of the junior start to ask us to leave, and said we paid the bill and u cannot use the laptop for such a long time. For the reference it happened about 4pm on 23rd December 2023. Strongly recommend to give it a try. Just order a coffee and enjoy the warmest hospitality from the beloved manager.

What a great oasis on a very busy street. Super knowledgeable and friendly staff...popped in for a glass of wine on Saturday night and returned a few days later for a coffee. Super wine selection that isn't the normal "run of the mill". Worth a visit...you won't be disappointed!

Seriously good coffee. The cheese toasties are also to die for. Plus this space has atmosphere and friendly people running it if you need a change of scenery to home.

The margaritas are excellent and the atmosphere is lovely but the beer and wine offer is poor. We sampled 5 different wines and every option tasted like vinegar even though expensive. We spoke to other people to see what they were drinking and unless you're willing to spend £60 a bottle its best to avoid. Possibly the worst wine in the city centre.

My friend and I attended the Beaujolais Nouveau release this evening, where a glass of complimentary wine was offered. I asked the lady behind the bar if I could purchase some bottles to take home (as they also have a selection of wines for retail), and she responded literally word for word “ask somebody else to help you”… I understand it was busy - and I myself work in hospitality so can relate to how stressful it can get - but this response and attitude were unacceptable, and needless to say I left without purchasing any wine. I’ve been here on various occasions and have been met with a similar level of indifference from the staff. I would like to add that the quality of the food and wine is very good, and the person whom I believe to be the owner has always been very polite and knowledgeable.

We've been there a while ago but I remember nothing buy good things about this place. The prices were not the lowest but exactly what you expect from the restaurant located in the centre of Liverpool. We got wine, some olives and houmous, got exactly what we expected. Very nice place for getting some rest and drink, most likely I will come back in the future.

One of my favourite coffee shops and wine bars in Liverpool. The most important is quality that you can taste in each product. Coffee is incredible (highly recommend to try the espresso shots), excellent number of natural wines (we got white Spanish one), even the snacks such as bread and olives was so tasty. The crew is very helpful and design makes that place so welcoming.
