Absolutely shocking don't bother twice food came up burnt. I had a small amount of scrambled egg and half a slice of avocado and 2 toast No drink, it cost nearly £10. Just recently I went again to see if it was any better but NO. They never have many breakfast items so I got eggs any which way. Ordered a coffee two fried eggs, got one slice of sourdough, tiny pot of avocado and the eggs came up greasy and hard boiled I was livid as this mess cost nearly £16 would have ordered scrambled eggs but without a minor amount of cheese they are tasteless. The food is way overpriced and they seem to charge what they like. Beats me how they have gotten all these good reviews unless its gone down the pan in the last few months according to trip advisor it is SHOCKINGLY POOR !!!.

I just ordered from The Whole Slice on Uber Eats. This is by far the best Neapolitan pizza for miles around. I also had the bruschetta which was seasoned perfectly. 10/10.

Luke warm, rubbery and dried out. A great disappointment. As I had guests I had to reheat and bring the three pizza to life without causing a scene. Will not be using again.

Wow what a treat this place is. Visited with friends for a (hungover) brunch, it was busy but we were seated outside in the heated area to wait, and still had our drinks orders taken outside by a lovely member of staff. We ordered food & it arrived much quicker than I was expecting given how busy it was (11:30 on a Sunday). I had the 'fry up' my friend had the vegan version and the other poached eggs on toast. I can honestly say the sausages were the nicest ones I've ever had in my life! I would love to know their provider because they were incredible. Whole plate was lovely, beans seemed Homemade too. Friends meals looked just as good but I would say 1 slice of toast for a £9.50 egg dish seemed a bit stingy... and we were told toast was optional for our fry ups, I didn't realise it meant extra charge, so it meant it cost £15 total! (I think). That would be my own downside to this place, it is a 1 off treat, I know Upminster is expensive but £20 for breakfast is a lot. Staff were lovely, drinks were lovely, decor was lovely, would recommend for a weekend treat, and would love to return to try the evening pizza offerings!

First time ordering pizza from here and was pleasantly surprised! Most authentic takeaway pizza I’ve had in this area by a mile! Will be heading there for brunch today Aswell!

Best pizza, absolutely delicious

Lovely place to chill and have a catch up and great food options. If you on the low fodmap diet though we can only eat the pancakes which is a shame because the rest of the food looks amazing. Just wish we could have more options part from pancakes

Lovely little place, we attended for a girly brunch and food was lovely! A few more vegan options would be nice however what we did have was tasty! Staff were lovely and nice atmosphere. We will be definitely return.

Amazing food and delicious food

The food here is awesome but the service? Not so hot. It's all over the place—sometimes you can order ahead, other times they can’t. And don't get me started on the cocktail glasses. They'll serve it in a smaller one, and if you ask for the usual bigger glass, they'll act like it's mission impossible. Communication? Yeah, that's a bit of a mess too. They could definitely step up their game and make this spot even better. Also they have a lot of young girls that work there that stare a lot, which can make me feel uncomfortable & I’m not sure what the reason is; it actually comes across as rude.

Great place for a vegan breakfast! The acai smoothie bowl and the vegan fry up are delicious. I had a great oat macha latte too!

Amazing visit. 1st time here but I can tell you defo not our last. The atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming as was the host. The pizza were truly amazing, a d on par with anything on Italy. Had the great experience of watching the Chef create new dough starter, for the 16hr fermentation which give the dough and crust an amazing flavour. Do your selva a cheap favour and get here on a Wednesday, 2-4-1 on eat in pizza that will blow your taste buds! Well done John and Chef, great evening. Thanks.

Food is above what you would expect. But service is below standard. Service extremely slow. Table hadn’t been cleaned from people before and butters and other condiments left from previous customers. This was our second visit as we’d thought we’d give it another go as the service was pretty poor the first time (food still good). But sadly the same. There’s a sign out the front that says please wait here (or something along those lines). So we did and the staff just stood there looking at us. If that sign is from covid or no longer in use why not just remove it.

Delicious food and fast delivery!

We went for a meal Saturday evening when the venue serves pizza. The pizzas were delicious - sourdough and much better than a major high street competitor! The atmosphere was what made the evening - there was live jazz style music from a 4 piece - not too loud - set a perfect atmosphere and really made the evening. Would highly recommend and we will return.

Excellent brunch. Can't fault the food or service. Really enjoyed the breakfast burger and the peach melba pancakes went down very well with my partner too. If having to find anything, I'd say you may need a magnifying glass for the menu as some of the printing was tiny bit that's really stretching criticism.

Very unfair, did not state that service charge is added on the menu then added on service charge. Charging central london prices for Upminister which is frankly ridiculous. The french toast had sourdough bread which is odd, the food was very average at best. Staff sitting around chatting and having lunch like its a social club. Never again

Ordered pizza's tonight in the restaurant, 15th June 2023, my pizza didn't have the mushrooms I'd ordered, so sent it back,the pizza looked nice just needed the cooked mushrooms added, but I then ended up with a new pizza just swimming in tomato sauce, it was awful, in the meantime my husbands pizza had got cold waiting for mine, we paid for our wine and left,very disappointed

We’re not local but I popped in with my son this morning for brunch/lunch on our way to McDon’s Farm. Lovely outside area we sat at with such friendly staff. Menu was refreshingly different. My son loved his pancakes, as did I my brunch - delicious. Shame we don’t live closer, this would definitely be a regular visit. Thankyou.

Lovely healthy breakfast however hard to find a parking space

We went for brunch this morning, two adults and two children. We ordered the pancakes for the children. The pancakes were soft, not at all sweet and had the right amount of berries and sauces on the side for the kids. The sauce and berries were contained in small little "jugs" which were easy enough for the children to use themselves without making a mess! For the adults we ordered the sourdough toast with scrambled eggs and the beets and avocado toast. Both dishes were cooked well, looked appealing, tasted fresh and were seasoned just right. We ordered fresh juices for the children, a cappuccino and a smoothie which was delicious. The restaurant was clean and despite being busy the staff were so attentive and friendly. We have made plans to go next weekend for brunch again. Thank you Roots.

Food was great, service is good but pricey. Atmosphere is great bright and clean. I was lucky to get a table without waiting. Fifthteen minutes later many customers was queing outside 😕 This cafe is very popular in town.

Amazing customer service, very quick and delicious food

First time vist to this place last night as it was my sons birthday and he absolutely loves pizza so thought we would give it a try as they do homemade pizza at night. The service is really good and fast, drink selection was awesome and garlic bread starter was probably the best garlic bread we have ever had. Pizzas was lovely all fresh ingredients cooked in a giant pizza oven.. we will definitely visit again

Love Roots and it’s evening version, The Whole Slice. Quality food, brunch has such variety and pizza authentic Neapolitan style that rivals the London outlets. Great coffee and they have high chairs!

Great service and excellent brunch menu, was clearly very popular with queues for tables. Luckily we had an outdoor heater and some coffees as we waited.

Nice breakfast, lovely staff, very helpful, very quiet, only us in there for a while, tad expensive for Somewhere without a view or in London but nice.

We have had pizzas delivered from the Whole Slice about 10 times now. Always very good and always on time.

Fantastic Neapolitan pizza. I would have rated it 5* but, the Milano arrive in a bit of a mess so would chose a different topping in future. The other pizzas were excellent.

We had a lovely brunch at Roots, the venue is bright & airy, they had seats available when we arrived and service was very good. The food arrived quickly and was freshly cooked and tasty. There is ample seating outside which is under huge canopies so you'll stay dry in all weather's.

Good quality breakfast, London pricing. Latte glass a bit small and menu card given to us dirty hence loss of one star. Friendly staff and quiet busy all the time so get there early or expect to queue outside.

food was beautifully presented and instagram worthy. lovely quant restaurant that is amazing on a quiet day, however i’ve had been on a busier day and service was much slower. but hey, that’s everywhere now so can’t blame them for that

Disapponting experience!!! Waited a long time for the food to arrive, when it came out it was well presented but the bacon was burnt the flavours were odd and the juice extremely small. There were wasps everywhere, causing customers to run up and down away from them. The waitress thought it would be a good idea to throw a whole glass of water in the direction of a wasp where I was sitting which resulted in the water going all over me . She was not apologetic and ignored the fact I was sitting there soaking wet.

Absolutely incredible - I feel incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful venue in my local area, and it’s exactly what Havering needs more of. The evening menu from Wholeslice is absolutely outstanding; a small but perfectly-formed list of cocktails, and the pizza is phenomenal. Will be back for brunch!

I love how the menu constantly changes here so it keeps it interesting. I have gone lactose free and there are plenty of options to choose from, including a selection of milks to have with coffee instead of normal milk. I highly recommend the coconut pancakes with passion fruit, lime and maple syrup. It made a nice change. Only thing that let's it down is you are waiting so long to be seated, this has happened each time I have been here. Once seated the service is spot on but no one wants to be waiting so long just for a seat when there are quite a few tables available.

Food very tasty and had a relaxed home cooked presentation. Staff helpful and friendly. Good cafe atmosphere. Chairs rather stained, which let them down.

I have looked at this restaurant for ages, now having eaten here, the food is excellent, staff lovely, will be coming back soon 🙂

I eat here most weekends of late. And can't rate the food highly enough in terms of healthy options, tasty options, hearty breakfast/brunch options, there is something for all! For a small venue they make good use of space inside and out, and even though it's on the busy highsteet with the planters surrounding it you don't really notice the traffic going by. My 4 stars would be 5 but for my nit-picking the drink selection. Coffee here is delicious, however if you want anything else, I feel the smoothies are a little too complicated often a breakfast in themselves, and with so many ingredients almost everyone will contain something youre not keen on. There should be some simpler just fruit options available. Soft drinks at least when I have been, are non branded, with the diet options tasting to much like pure sweetener. This all means if you don't want coffee or orange juice(which I can't stress enough are lovely), the other options aren't great. Simply making lemonade, coke, zero, diet would rectify this easily. All that said this is a lovely place that will instantly become a regular visit for anyone that eats here! Best, Danny

very disappointed after seeing all the amazing looking dishes only to have a choice of a few pizza's. I didn't see anywhere that they had two different menu's. We will have to come back during the day and hopefully leave a five star review.

Came here for brunch a few times. Food is to a good standard and so is the decor (similar to a trendy spot in Shoreditch). Chilli eggs and coffee especially good. Service can be slow when busy and prices do reflect London prices.

Absolutely brilliant pizza, possibly the best I’ve ever eaten - we visited Saturday afternoon when they were doing their Whole Slice offering. I had the Hot Hot Hot pizza with Courgette Cream on top… the Hot’n’Courge. Great music and chilled out vibes. Really cool neighbourhood restaurant. What more could you ask for!
