We came here after it was recommended to us for a authentic and good filipino place. The food was great and tasty and tasted different to the far eastern dishes that i'm used to. The service was great and the drinks were made well. Would recommend to anyone who is looking to try out the filipino cusine!

We ordered their free flow tasting plates (£39 per person) which includes different kinds of Filipino main course like Karekare, pares, gambas, sisig etc. + rice /noodles + desserts. It did not disappoint. Value for money. My personal favorite is kare kare - beef is really tender and the peanut butter based sauce compliments the meat well it’s creamy and right kind of taste; you dont need bagoong to complete the dish. Service of the crew is also top notch. Will definitely come back.

A creative and interesting twist to Filipino foods. If you’re used to Filipino cuisine, you would really need to think outside the box to fully appreciate their menu. Otherwise, you can enjoy their food for all their glory! Their Filipino staff are on the colder, more formal side than the typical warm Filipino culture. I would recommend their Kare Kare!

OMG the food is good here...we made happy noises with every bite! We'd never had Filipino food before so didn't really know what to expect, although the menu description of the dishes all sounded good. I think it's now our favourite cuisine, and deserves all the 5 star reviews. I had the Beef, Oxtail Kare Kare in a peanut sauce, so good my husband was spooning up the sauce like soup. His Crispy Pata pork hock was likewise historic, "now this is how crackling should taste", he said. The adobo rice was also a standout, with crispy pulled pork on top. One reviewer said that the portions were not very big - we only managed half our meals, and the staff graciously packed the rest to take home. The prices across the board were more than fair. We're already planning our next visit, and soon. Ignore any negative reviews about this fine establishment...it really is great, and they send the loveliest replies to reviewers.

Nestled in Kensington is a welcome addition to the global cuisines available in the area. It is a small establishment and hence booking is recommended in advance! Chicken Inasal Sisig is a winner. A beautiful savoury concoction if you like your meat with a kick of multiple flavours. The Adobo chicken was fine (slightly dry) but a butcher knife should be mandatory to cut rather then standard cutlery. A cheesecake to takeaway was average. It's one of the rare restaurants that allows pets with customers so make of that what you will.

Had a really lovely experience here yesterday evening. My boyfriend and I were welcomed with smiles and overall the waiters gave excellent service and made sure we were having a good meal/time. Ordered the gambas and chicken sisig which was very flavourful, as well as the Kare Kare and Crispy Pata - the meat was so tender and the peanut sauce was smooth and rich. For drinks, we ordered the Batangas Bad Boy and the melon juice which tasted like the ones from the vendors back home! As someone who isn’t too big a fan of cheesecakes, the Ube Cheesecake was so rich and creamy and I would go back just for it. Additionally, we ordered the Mango Peach Pie which came with Leche Flan ice cream and it was as equally as great. Will definitely be going back :)

The service is good. The main course is good but not enough per serve. All the main courses are delicious we even made 2 more serve of the Kare kare n Cripy pata. But the Halo halo is very disappointing. The price don't match the taste. Jelly is a cheap substitution for the kaong and nata de coco. The weird candy like muscovado left a terrible after taste.

We had a wonderful family dinner at Romulo’s the food was amazing reminded me of food from the Philippines with a slight twist. The filipina waitress was very nice and accommodating to our many requests she had such a nice smile towards us. However to be hones t there was one particular waitress who is not as nice and accommodating as the filpina, we tried to help the staff as much as we can especially with my family of 6 but her body language and facial expressions wasn’t pleasing to see, as a worker in the hospitality industry I completely understand the high demanding work environment. My family noticed most of the staff is quite passive aggressive and their response can come across as blunt. Hopefully it was only today and she had a bad day. Other than that I would definitely come back again!

Food was great as expected of a Romulo's. We had a day of eating around London so just had some kare-kare and ceviche when we came for dinner here. Receiving female staff were sour-faced, almost condescending. They were not Filipinos, which is a waste as what Filipino restaurant wouldn't put actual Filipinos for receiving guests when Filipinos are known for their hospitality and warmth? Our waiter (a male) was very pleasant though.

Came for the Friday tapas feast. I prefer the regular al a carte menu, but I would recommend this to people who are unfamiliar with filipino cuisine. There's a huge selection of tapas, which includes traditional fili dishes and some new modern takes by Romulo. I highly recommend their chicken sisig - I'd say its their unofficial signature dish. The calamari and kare kare are also great. You must finish off with their halo-halo, which is so refreshing and sweet. The lechon had the beautiful crispy skin, but the flesh was slightly dry. Also, the pancit was slightly underseasoned and could've been served at a hotter temperature. The servers were nice and knowledgeable about the menu - good for those who are new to fili food. The food came out very fast, faster than if it were their al a carte service. As a result, I think some of their dishes weren't of an ideal quality (the lechon and pancit). I will say that the tapas menu is very reasonably priced considering the amount of food you get. If you're new to fili food, I'd recommend the Friday tapas menu. However, if you're familiar with the cuisine and want to try the classics with a twist, I'd go with their al a carte menu during the week.

I have gotten food poising from eating at this establishment from reheated/not properly cooked dishes. The service was immaculate here however the food was a huge disappointment, the starters had given me & my friends hope that the main would also be just as good. However, all of our mains lacked a lot of flavour, some parts of the dishes seemed reheated. We had expressed this to our waitress who had apologised on the chef’s behalf and seemed very apologetic, we had reassured her we understood it wasn’t her fault but we wish that she would let the kitchen staff know in which she did. However, they had only replaced 1 out of 3 dishes back and gave a dessert replacement to the dish they had replaced. The dessert was very good, I don’t remember the name but it was delicious. My friends and I all had food poising and I had unfortunately threw up once I had gotten home from the terrible food. I would not recommend this for authentic Filipino cuisine.

The food was really good but one or two annoying aspects dragged the score of 4 down a notch. The sisig starter was wonderful. The pansit guisado nice but similar to what we could have cooked at home. The crispy pata excellent. The beef ribs tadyang a lot of meat but insufficiently special. Desserts good - but the halo halo was exceptional. Small gripes: - service not too friendly, had to ask for serving spoons, dirty plates not removed - charged £6.50 for what seemed like two carafes of tap water - no warning water would be charged - service charge of 12.5% was cheeky; I’d prefer to add service myself. Although the above are small, for the cost of the meal, they really shouldn’t be there at all.

We ate there yesterday and ordered paella (in squid ink with bagoong and mango, not the paella i imagined),fresh lumpia (i dont know why its sour,no sauce also),crispy pata( 3 small pieces on top of mongo without any dipping sauce),chicken adobo(weird tasting sauce with overly cooked carrots) and adobo rice (to wet and almost soaked with soy sauce). A lovely quaint little Filipino restaurant situated less than 10 minutes away from Olympia Station. The interior was beautiful and filled with plenty of Filipino-inspired paintings and the table decor was gorgeous. Staff were very attentive and always came around to ask if there was anything we needed. You are first served a roll of pandesal (Filipino bread) with butter as an appetiser before your mains, a tiny detail that I loved! Highly recommend the crispy pata, chicken inasal sisig and kare kare paired with the garlic fried rice - everything was super delicious and so moreish, and loved how it tasted just like how we’d have it in the Philippines 🥰 We finished the evening off with halo-halo and my favourite part of the dessert was the smooth, creamy leche flan and ube ice cream that it came with - definitely the highlight of the dessert for me! Beautiful restaurant and lovely staff, the food was 5 Star 🌟 The first thing we had was the calamansi juice and the warm soft pandasal, we then ordered all of the starters to share, what a great way to introduce the flavours of the Philippines. Then we practically ordered the rest of the main menu and desserts. We ordered a fair amount of dishes and the servings were good for 2-3 people. My son and I visited the restaurant on May 17 for dinner. We had high expectations based on the reviews but found the food and overall experience rather underwhelming. The Pork Hock was just ok, nothing memorable about it. The Adobe Chicken had zero flavor, whatever. My Pilipino colleague told me the chicken was supposed to be marinated overnight and ought to be very flavorful. The Adobe Chicken we had was incredibly bland. Very disappointing. Lastly, I was not sure if this place usually provides tap water (other places we visited in London did provide tap water), but we were given the options of still or sparkling water and we ended up paying over 6 pounds for two bottles of evian.

Earlier this evening I dined at Romulo Café & Restaurant with my family, and I have mixed feelings about our experience. We were looking forward to enjoying Filipino cuisine and were particularly excited about classic dishes like pancit, chicken adobo, and kare-kare. Thankfully, the food itself did not disappoint; the flavors were rich, authentic, and truly delicious. However, our overall dining experience was marred by the disappointing service we received. From the moment we arrived, it became apparent that the service was not up to par. We were not attended to promptly - the staff seemed disorganized and inattentive. Our orders were taken haphazardly, and when the food finally arrived, it was not served together. We had to wait for quite some time for all the dishes to be brought to our table. Adding to the frustration, we had to specifically request for proper plates to be brought to us. It was astonishing that such a basic necessity was overlooked. The staff clearly lacked attention to detail and seemed dismissive when we asked about basics that had not been brought to the table. Throughout the meal, I found myself constantly having to struggle to get the attention of the wait staff, which was highly frustrating and disruptive to the overall dining experience. Considering the relatively high price points at Romulo Café & Restaurant, we had expected a higher level of service. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met, and this ultimately overshadowed the enjoyment we derived from the delicious Filipino dishes. Regrettably, based on our visit, my family and I have decided that we will not be returning to Romulo Café & Restaurant.

Took them 20 minute to prepare 2 cocktails, another 15 for starters. After finishing the starters we waited another 45 minutes for our mains - even had to chase it up with the waiters. During this time they were more tham happy to try and push more drinks onto us, without even once apologising for the wait. Mains were fine and all, but after that we ordered a couple deserts for takeaway, which took another 35 minutes for them to prepare, which we also had to chase up... Service should really be better when the spend is 60/pp total... This place might be considered fine dining, but make sure if you go here to have nothing else planned because they will essentially hold you for an extra hour to try and sell more drinks...

The service was awful and you could see just how much they didn’t want to be there. I don't know whether the staff are being paid sufficiently or whether there were some racial undertones taking place as no one in my group was Filipino which caused strange looks when we walked in but I will never pay to go to a place like that again. I recently dined at this restaurant and I have to say that my experience was mixed. While the food was delicious, the service was quite disappointing. As this is a Filipino restaurant, I expected to experience the renowned hospitality of Filipinos, but unfortunately, that was not the case. On the bright side, the unlimited tasting menu was a great way to try different dishes, and I found the portions to be just the right size. The garlic rice was really lovely, and I absolutely loved the aubergine salad as well. The flavors were authentic and delicious, and it was definitely a great culinary experience. However, the poor service left a bad taste in my mouth, and I am not sure if I would come back again. While I enjoyed the food, the overall dining experience was not up to par with the standard that I expected from a Filipino restaurant. If you are solely looking for great food, then this restaurant is definitely worth a try, but if you are looking for exceptional service and hospitality, you may want to look elsewhere. Also it is worth noting that in addition to the poor service, the restaurant had a mandatory tip policy, which was quite disappointing. I do hope that they remove this policy and allow customers to tip based on the quality of service provided.

The quality of the food was excellent, everything was delicious (the portions are quite big so I wouldn’t recommend a starter + a main if you’re not too hungry). Unfortunately our experience there was ruined by a few things: - There was a huge party at the time we went, the guests being very loud, standing around, I got pushed a couple times. When we asked the staff if they could do anything, they didn’t seem willing to do much. - Majority of the staff didn’t even seem like they wanted to be there, one of them even sighing when we told her we weren’t ready to order. Another one nearly burnt my face twice when bringing the sizzling dishes to our table. Although the food was great, I wouldn’t go again because of the poor service.

We had an amazing time and they were so polite and attentive (especially when you have nut allergies)! I love how the owner oversees everything and when he sees that the waitresses are busy, he will jump in to help. For drinks we had the Filipino shandy--beer mixed with sweet, citrus juice--and fresh ginger tea (unsweetened). For the first course, we had Chicken Inasal Sisig (yummy, but I would add chopped raw onions and just a squeeze of calamansi) and "bulalo" soup in rich, flavorful broth. For the main course, we had braised beef rib and The General's Spring Chicken Adobo. The chicken adobo was tender, juicy, and flavorful. But the braised beef takes the prize. I liked the honey chili demi-glaze that came with it more than the adobo demi-glaze. And the salad with pinoy dressing was the perfect accompaniment. We finished off with halo-halo loaded with jackfruit, ube, sweet bananas, young coconut, jellies, flan, and rice crisps on top of finely shaven ice. This is by far the best halo-halo I've ever had!

My wife and I decided to have an early dinner at a Filipino restaurant before going to see a show at the Royal Albert Hall and found this little gem! They sell themselves as ‘Fine Dining’ and it stuck to its name. We were offered a tapas style meal where you eat all you want for a decent price. The individual meals were so well made and delicious, we wanted to eat them all but our bellies didn’t let us :) The atmosphere was friendly and very Filipino with decor to suit. As my wife is Filipino herself, she felt at home hearing her dialects being spoken as we ate. Would definitely go back again if we are in the area and would strongly recommend this to others we know and anyone out there! :)

My first Filipino food journey with romulo cafe london definitely exceeded my expectations! We went on Friday for All You Can Eat Friday Feast. The buffet only cost £38.5 per person. I love most of the dishes on the menu. Will definitely come back again!

Their cocktail is awful. The place smells rank.

Romulo Cafe and Restaurant brings the comforts of home to London, with such a wide variety of delicious Filipino dishes to choose from! We had the All You Can Eat Friday Feast recently and I loved every dish we had, and it’s such good value-for-money at £38.5. It’s an excellent way to introduce Filipino food to people who aren’t as familiar. I really liked the following dishes from the evening, which is almost the entire menu. - Aubergine Salad - Beef Tapa - Vegetable Molo Soup - Squid Adobo - Grilled Chicken Inasal - Sinanglay Stuffed Seabream - Lechon Beef - Shitake Mushroom Bicol Express - Stir Fried Vegetable Rice Noodles - Sweet Rice Cake Flavored Ice Cream - Ice Cream with Banana Puree and Filo Pastry Turon I wasn’t a fan of Romulo Cafe the first time I tried it, but this experience changed my mind and I can now happily recommend this restaurant to my friends looking into their first foray into Filipino food!

Romulo Café is a quaint, cozy and true-to-its-heritage restaurant in a casual London setting. The service is excellent, a testimony to the hard work and dedication of the general manager, who tends to make her rounds in the venue, duly checking on every table. The food is fantastic, presenting the guest with a unique experience, platter to platter. My personal favourite, the tinapa spring rolls with a spicy vinegar sauce - I've had it twice now - is an amazing combination of sweet and sour that never fails to impress. A first place contender is the young jackfruit dish, served in a coconut based sauce. Romulo Café is not a Michelin-star restaurant experience - and it isn't trying to be. What it is, on the other hand, is a fantastic Filipino restaurant with great service.

We had a big group and had the set dinner. We had gambas, fresh lumpia and chicken sisig for our starters. There was kare-kare, lechon and adobo for main course. I wanted to eat it all! Use ice cream for dessert was the best.

The best Filipino fine-dining in London so far. Compact yet very chic restaurant in one of the nicest Burroughs in London, Romulo’s boasts a modern take on Filipino food but with the same delightful flavours. The wait staff are very attentive and fast and the overall ambiance is cozy and homely. Start with their calamansi Margarita followed by the hearty sisig and crispy pata. Lovely! And of course, don’t forget to try their Ube cakes. Yummy. Two thumbs up!

Great food and drink with great service, what more could you want? To see a queue of people waiting for a table, that's what you want to see when you are at a great restaurant.

The food here is terrific. There are flavors in the food you don't get anywhere else. It's truly authentic. I got a mock cocktail that was the most amazing drink ever and looked so beautiful. The servers were patient and helpful. Can't wait to come back.

Amazing food and lovely venue. The only drawback was the obnoxious party that dined next to us. I genuinely got a headache because of how loud they were, and felt so bad for the staff. But they handled themselves well and delivered great service still. I’ll definitely come back, hopefully it’ll be a little quieter next time.

Second visit for me there. This time it was the Feb 23 special all-you-can-eat offer for 38 something pounds with a 14.50£ all-you-can-drink alcoholic drinks including red and white wine and beer. You get a special menu with tapas style dishes, not the full menu, but a rich and dicerse selection of dishes and you order two at a time per per person. Everything exceptionally delicious and served quickly. Also, service was very behind keeping the glasses filled, between my partner and I we ended up having 13 glasses of wine. Nothing negative to say, one star off service because i had to ask twice for spoons for the soup (which was breathtakingly delicious) twice when I shouldnt have to ask at all and one star off for ambience because the whole decor is praising this military celebrity Romulo without really addrrssing the many other aspects of filipino culture which is not really my taste but that is a personal opinion. Usually I try to avoid personal influences but to get 5/5 stars everything needs to be perfect for me specifically too.

Been here twice so far and the food was great both times! The dishes were so authentic and flavorful. Definitely recommend! If you’re looking for suggestions, try the Sea Bass, Kare kare, Bicol Laing, Ube Cheesecake and Ube cocktail. The tables in the front section are really close to each other, just something to keep in mind if you are planning to have a private dinner.
