Hearing of and reading reviews of this place I was truly excited. I went to dine with my friend, his dad who was visiting from NYC and my dad who was visiting from Hong Kong. We were hoping to impress with this meal, having heard of its authenticity. The experience of service and the restaurant itself is fine. The servers are kind, the hotel is grand, the entrance ways are elegant and the view is one of the finest London has to offer. The food was, at points, remarkably good. The famed duck deserves the credibility it receives, almost unanimously, from all who try it and from those sat across from you who eagerly watch, mouths watering, as a chef comes to deftly compartmentalise the fatty poultry. This was, without doubt, the highlight of the night, the spectacle that will remain in the visiting father’s mind on their long flights back home. The other dishes neither impressed nor disappointed. Coming from Hong Kong, these other Chinese staples were occasionally flat in flavour (Choi sum), margins off authentic (gong bo chicken), or slightly smaller and less punchy than expected (sea bass). There’s is nothing to really complain about here. To a local these dishes are quite good, to someone who has not been exposed to them so much they are likely fantastic. The desserts need not be commented upon, they also did not impress, but we did not expect fine sweet treats from a Chinese restaurant. Why have I given 4 instead of 5 stars? One glaring issue pervaded our fine dinner that had consisted in astronomically tasty duck and reasonably well flavoured sides (if you don’t count £5 for rice - a tragedy). This was the service. Whilst the staff were just as friendly and attentive as one might expect from a place such as this, their tableside manners were, in my opinion, not nearly up to the standard one might expect from a restaurant costing £90/head. Staff members regularly moved glasses and bottles by their rim, chopsticks by their end, and any items on the table left in the way of the dishes (such as phones or wallets). This is, in my opinion, a marked point that reduces the service quality. The staff were lovely, truly, but their manners were not. This act of touching a guest’s glass by its rim, without asking if they might move it first, appalls at the highest level of dining. In sum: the duck blew my little smooth brained mind, the dishes filled my expectant belly, the desserts halfway satisfied my sweet little tooth, the manners by table left a lasting bitter taste as a left.

Very good restaurant. The duck is really one of the best in London, worth the visit. Also reasonably priced all things considered. Our waiter though suggested that we should have a side with the rice (pack choi) that was 18£ , crazy expensive for really anonymous vegetables.

Having lived in Singapore for a long time we know/knew the Min Jiang restaurants very well - both the original on Scotts Road as well as the newer branch in Dempsey. Min Jiang has always been an expensive restaurant in Singapore but always excellent. In fact I'd go so far as to say that their Yang Chow fried rice in the Dempsey branch is probably the best I've had. Period. And I could live on this dish. So we thought it would be interesting to try the London branch of this esteemed restaurant. Needless to say, we didn't expect it to be as good as the Singapore restaurants. And we expected it to be more expensive too. On both these fronts our expectations were fulfilled. In terms of cost, the average dim sum dish in Min Jiang London was about 50% more expensive than in Singapore. Anecdotally, I think the percentage difference between non-dim sum dishes is probably more than 50% but then it's not an apples-to-apples comparison. So what about the quality of the dishes? I would say mixed. Min Jiang is known for its Peking Duck - and to be fair pretty much every table had ordered that. But we did not. The crispy duck roll gave us a taste of their duck - and it was quite nice - though not something I've ever seen in a Chinese restaurant in Singapore or Hong Kong. Perhaps the most disappointing dish was the siu mai - surprising as this is such a stalwart of a dim sum meal. It was on the small side and rather dry - lacking the necessary juices and even a little short on flavour. Certainly not was good as, say, that in Yauatcha London. The Yang Chow fried rice was alright but not a patch on what we've had in Min Jiang Singapore. Perhaps the greatest and most pleasant surprise was the stir-fried trio of mushroom with lotus root, crispy bean-curd & macademia nuts. That was so enjoyable and a generous size portion. My one criticism was that the bean-curd was not crispy - and perhaps a crispy taro would have been better and as is more common in Asia. Service was first class and the views are stupendous even if you don't have a window seat. If you really want the views, perhaps book a sofa seat adjacent to the bar.

We had an amazing time at Min Jiang! Five of us went and had a proper feast, ordering crispy duck, sweet and sour chicken, pork ribs, black bean chicken, squid, special fried rice, broccoli, and so much more. Every dish was full of flavour, and beautifully presented. We specifically visited to have the Peking duck, we ordered the whole duck, the first serving was carved near the table for the pancakes, and the second serving of the duck was served with rice, but for the latter there was barely any duck. Nevertheless, the atmosphere was warm and elegant, with great service from start to finish. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was welcoming. And the view - from the top of Kensington Gardens Hotel, you get to see a lovely skyline view of London, which makes the experience even more special. Roughly £90 per head, it was definitely a treat and we really enjoyed our time. Thank you.

This is such a good restaurant. Beautiful atmosphere, lovely setting and excellent staff. And, of course, the food… Peking Duck is simply delicious and not excessively priced. The other dishes were also really good (especially the Kung Pao prawns, though £15 for a small bowl of simple egg-fried rice, no matter how good, was pushing it. The wine-list is interesting, but also expensive. However, dining here really is a treat, and the Peking Duck is stellar.

So we came here for my birthday. Expressly for the Peking Duck. With the backdrop of Kensington Gardens (which was stunning and must be wonderful on a sunny day) and elegant surroundings. It’s v relaxed though for some reason our food took longer than expected for which the server apologised. I would rate food 4 stars. It’s expensive but it was all delicious and well flavoured accompanied by tasty and plentiful sauces. It’s fabulous having the succulent juicy duck carved in front of us and it was all very enjoyable. Could the skin been a tad crisper and flavourful - perhaps! But it was still delicious. I would say that the second serving (we chose fried rice) didn’t contain much duck at all and we didn’t get the leg. So that was a bit disappointing. But again the fried rice was perfectly cooked. It got quite busy for the lunchtime and that added to the atmosphere. I liked the little gift bag for Chinese NY which was a nice touch at the end.

We’ve been to Minjiang a few times. It’s a bit difficult to park nearby (the hotel’s park is a pretty tough driving test), but we still wanted to go back. Unfortunately today is probably the last time. What is good? The view is stunning. You get an unblocked view of Hyde park. A few dishes I highly recommend: turnip cake, Ying Yang fried rice. The dim sum was alright, but good value for money. What went wrong today? The overall feeling was not welcoming and we felt like being ignored most of the time. Perhaps due to the holiday season, the restaurant feels understaffed even though a third of the tables are empty. The receptionist decided it was more important to give back the coat to the guest behind us (even though the guest suggested she should serve us first; she was determined nonetheless) than leading us to our table. Then we were kindly seated in the corner, when there were other tables empty. The first dish came about 20 minutes after order, while the main took nearly an hour, and it was the wrong dish. Most of the dishes were lukewarm. This wasn’t the case for our previous visits. We asked for takeaway for two of the dishes, and the waiter, without asking, decided it was more important to save a takeaway box and combined the two dishes into one (it might be good though not appreciated). When we asked for the bill, we had to wait for the staff to bring the card machine for another 10 min while (perhaps) the manager diligently fold napkins for the table next to us. I’m not entirely sure what changed. Maybe we didn’t order enough? Maybe we had only two people instead of 10? Maybe they had a really tough day? It’s a pretty unimpressive experience. The food was alright but I don’t believe anyone should be treated, or more precisely, neglected like us.

My husband asked if we booked a lunch how do they serve us when the kitchen shut at 2:45. It should remain open throughout till 3 or 4 when lunch crowd are done not shut at 2:45pm. What annoyed us is the attitude of the reception who seem to be having no empathy about the arriving guest’s concerns about the closing kitchen for lunch serving. On the way out this reception person was on the phone loudly all the time like it was some urgent business he had to deal with. He’s rude and unprofessional. The waitress at the main hall were slightly better. Now food, we know chinese are not great with dessert. However the mango cream I ordered was bizarre and taste funny. It was like a bowl of soup served on a massive soup plate which I never seen before. I’ve never seen mango cream so watery and liquid before. Overall savory food was quite alright. Another excellent dinner at this splendid establishment. Their signature duck is the best peking duck we've had in London. We were a table of 4 and easily demolished a whole duck between us. Very grateful to the staff who allowed us to exceed our alloted 2 hrs dinner time as one of our guests was late.

We loved the Peking Duck. The string beans and Tofu with Morels were great. The Sea Bass with numbing spice was delicious and had great texture. The servers were fast and the view to the city was beautiful. The only downside was that the restaurant was very loud and it was hard to hear.

Lovely food and especially great service. The FOH team were all amazing and made such an effort to celebrate our anniversary. They really looked after us and I’d highly recommend everyone to go and eat here. Very reasonably priced too for the quality and portion sizes. Thank you!

Very nice duck and dimsum. Other main dish is alright just average. Better go for lunch time order a whole duck comes with two dishes plus dimsum. Also lunch time better to see the nice view over hype park

For my 40th birthday my DH took us to Minjiang again. Food was amazing as I remembered several years ago. Loved the Peking duck and this time we also discovered another super delicious dish - roasted rack of spiced lamb with cumin (highly recommend!)

I had dinner at Min Jiang tonight and found a bug in my drink. When I informed the server, they told me that because I had already drunk part of it, they couldn’t issue a refund and could only remake the drink. Although drinking something with a bug in it was certainly not what I wanted,I reluctantly accepted their solution. However, when the replacement drink arrived, it was only half a glass. For a restaurant where two people spent £200, this is absolutely unacceptable. Serving a drink with a bug is bad enough, but offering half a glass as a solution is beyond disgraceful. I would not recommend this place. It was disgusting enough to drink bugs, but the compensation was to make me a half cup again. I don't want to say that I kept urging people to leave before they finished eating. What kind of service attitude is this? The pattern of half a cup of drinks is not per capita. It can be done by 100+ restaurants. Anyway, the duck is not delicious and I will definitely not eat it again.

Delicious as always. Only reason for dropping one star is that our second serving was very late coming to table. I had to chase for it but at least staff were honest in telling us that the delay was due to there being a large party at one of the tables. However, as a general rule, I do feel that this should not be allowed to negatively impact on the dining experience of, for example, a couple - especially since we are all being charged the same price and all looking for a similarly positive experience.

I always try to look for good restaurants and this place was really great. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Unfortunately it was dark to enjoy the view but I’ll try to go there for lunch next time I highly recommend it.

Our waitress was excellent, However, we sent a beef dish back because the beef pieces were so tough and grisly, they were inedible. Yes, they took it off the bill, but we felt the Manager in charge should have had the courtesy to come and apologise personally as most quality restaurants do. It was not busy. We live in Kensington and have been regulars in the past. We will not be returning.

I have been going to Min Jiang for about 20 years and have never been disappointed. The food is delicious, the service very professional. A meal at Min Jiang is always festive and special.
