It's a small, family run restaurant. The food and service are excellent. The a la carte price is also very reasonable. The lunch time set menu even more reasonable! Need to book another visit soon.

Brilliant food and service. Stayed in Penarth with wife for an overnight getaway. We booked table for 6pm and ordered starters mussels and meatballs both very nice and side dish olives. For mains I had a penne pasta with beef and wife ordered tagliatelle with prawns and araspagus. Both excellent, the restaurant is a throwback to yesteryear with decor loved the old feel and played nice Italian music. The staff were very polite and courteous and tbh I genuinely can't wait to return next time I am In Penarth.

It’s our 25th wedding anniversary and we wanted a romantic meal with good food. We were a little bit early but they weren’t busy. Usual menu chat and we went for the Prosecco as it’s our 25th anniversary. Lovely window table. Not too busy. Had some sides as a starter and the olives were lovely. Garlic bread okay but not that special. A bit too much cheese. Risotto and spaghetti was lovely. But then we became invisible. No one checked if our food was okay. Watched other diners get served and table cleaned but not us. We finished our plates 20 minutes ago and were stretching out our overpriced Prosecco. Servers were seeing to other diners in our area but we were invisible still. Our plates were drying out now and half glass left each , this is spoiling our night! 40 minutes after our food was finished and sauces dried on our plate, our server realised no one had been to our table. Sorry sorry it’s my fault, yes it is. No offer of free anything or discount! Manager came over with a feeble excuse of ‘I saw you picking at the bread and olives( we weren’t!) so I thought you hadn’t finished’. Would you like to see the dessert menu? No thank you our taxi is here, can I have the bill? Came back with another sorry and a sharp lemon shot. ‘Hope this makes up for the delay’. No not really. Paid bill. Not offered anything. Left no tip. Someone shouted thank you as we left out the front! Really disappointed, will never go back! Sid’s just next door is much better service as we went there the day before! Romeo’s fell flat and lost us as customers!

I booked a surprise 50th wedding anniversary dinner for 12 people last weekend. Joanne decorated the table for me and played along with the surprise for our friends. It all went to plan! Food, drinks and service were 1st class. Cannot recommend it enough. Can't thank the team enough for a memorable night.

Ideal place for a good family restaurant dinner. Straightforward unfussy menu and the food very well and quickly prepared. Excellent reception with energetic, friendly and attentive staff.

Great situated restaurant on Penarth sea front. We hadn't made a booking and the restaurant was fully booked when we arrived. The server kindly accommodated us by putting 2 small tables together. The service was friendly, swift and efficient. The food was all excellent. The hostess was lovely. All in all a great restaurant.

Was visiting my mother from Bath for a couple of days and we booked on a mid week Lunchtime with my mother and my wife - the staff are lovely and the food was very good. I had a Caprese salad starter which for once the mozzarella wasn’t just out the fridge cold and was very tasty .The others had mushroom starters which they really enjoyed. We had two very good pizzas - one vegetarian and one with a very spicy nduja topping. My mother had a a very nice tagliatelle dish and we shared a good bottle of Primitivo red wine. Prices are very reasonable for good home cooked Italian fare. The only sad thing was how quiet they were as they deserve better support from the local community and I wish we had as good an Italian on our doorstep back home.

The food is more pub style. We had starter of mushrooms with marsala sauce. This was a good starter. The main came meat and veg(carrots, green beans and roasted potatoes). The chicken was tough and sauce was mediocre. The vegetables were a little over cooked for me. Disappointing after a great starter.

Went with family to celebrate a birthday. The food is reasonably priced, great friendly service and delicious food. All plates were heartily cleared. I highly recommend Romeos and will be returning soon.

We eat here regularly and have done so since it opened many years ago. I meet up with friends and family and enjoy eating off their lunch time menu, this is changed regularly and is fairly priced. A two course meal is around 15/16 pounds and there is a large selection to choose from. The staff are so friendly and helpful and always go out of their way to make our meal a pleasant experience. A great family run restaurant that never fails to impress and deliver delicious food at a reasonable price.

We had lunch at Romeo's recently. Really good food, great service at very reasonable prices. I had the linguine pescatore, which was delicious - loads of clams, mussels and juicy king prawns. Lovely!

Don’t think I’ve been here for years!! Recently visited here with my boyfriend and family members. We had a lovely table by the window, looking out on to the sea. The food was amazing!! Two pizzas and two chicken dishes, everybody thoroughly enjoyed their meals.

Ate early evening yesterday (Monday). Food was excellent. I had spaghetti with seafood followed by a Lemon desert. All six of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals , service was excellent and the setting looking out on Penarth seafront was superb.

First visit to Romeos and we will certainly go back when visiting the area again. The staff were friendly and helpful as well as professional. Good drinks menu. The food menu was very varied but we were told by friends that the pizzas were very nice. All 4 of us ordered a pizza and they were the best pizza I had had. I followed my Tropicana with tiramisu and a coffee. A very enjoyable meal by the sea.

Excellent, went with family to celebrate a birthday. We were a party of nine we each had three courses and cleared plates all round. Lovely food and excellent service.

We had a two course set lunch followed by deserts. The food was exceptional, classic Italian dining. The staff were first class and sincerely friendly. A perfect place to eat with a sea view. I will return here again for sure.

Outstanding food and service me and my friends and family always recommend Romeo's by the sea, I have been here multiple times now and it does not disappoint Fabio and his staff are always very welcoming and helpful to accommodate any of our fussy dietary needs. Of you visit this venue for lunch you will not be disappointed a true 5 star venue in a beautiful location that comes with huge value for money. I would have happily paid more for the flavours and experience. Just wow! thanks to all the team and we look forward to coming again soon. Go and you won't regret.

We had the most lovely lunch today at this neat sea facing Italian. A really lovely atmosphere with a classic menu. Food was fresh, tasty and with good sized portions. The team looking after us today were delightful! Recommend the sea food which was super tasty!

Having chosen Risotto Chorizo from the Lunch Menu I was quite surprised at how little Chorizo was in the dish, until I realised that they had given me Risotto Vegano and therefore there was no Chorizo in it at all. The risotto was very nice but not what I ordered. Other than for this we enjoyed our meal and would not hesitate to go back.

This restaurant could be great as if sits in the waterfront in a lovely old villa. Sadly the menu is nothing special and neither was the cooking. I complained about the quality of the wine I was served, by the glass, as it was undrinkable....

Cosy warm welcoming and friendly. Staff are polite and helpful. Menu choices are good, and flexibility within the menu choices too. Wine choices are good with house wine very pleasant. Love coming here, will definitely return.

Another excellent lunch today in our favourite Penarth restaurant. As always very busy which speaks for itself and as always the staff were excellent.It is very difficult to add or improve my previous comments on Romeos but when you get served really nice well cooked food sat in a restaurant you feel very relaxed in you can go home happy and contented. We did.

Great little restaurant on the Penarth seafront. Tasty food, excellent service and reasonably priced. Loved the decor and ambiance too. We had mussels and white bait to start. Both dishes were fresh and well presented (although a little bread with the mussels to soak up the delicious sauce would’ve been perfect!). That was followed up with delicious pasta and fillet of sole. Very happy to recommend this place to others!

Well I have to say it was good not great but good nonetheless.Ordered the rack of lamb and was so dissapointed that I was served four individual lamb chops and not a rack. I am a little fussy and for me if it says rack then serve one.Rant over the food was good.I will go back soon.

Lovely meal. Helpful staff and we were impressed that even though there were few customers (Tuesday evening in January) we were seated on the slight dias by the window so there was a feeling of atmosphere. We weren’t hurried and I was particularly impressed by the wide choice of vegan and vegetarian dishes. I’d read on here that the brownie was wonderful so chose that but found it underwhelming. Edible but not amazing!

Down for the day from Coventry to see our daughter and granddaughter Elsi - a regular trip for us- we have tried most of the restaurants locally but had never visited Romeos in spite of it having many mentions. A table for six adults and two small children last Sunday turned out to be perfect. Welcomed by a friendly young lady from Venezuela we were cared for delightfully from the start and this continued with Fabio and Auntie Babs - we felt really spoiled by their attention to detail. Food was lovely and we will be back. Well positioned on the seafront they provide a great atmosphere super service and good food - the ideal combination.

Came here tonight for a first date and it was absolutely amazing. The soup was lovely and the garlic king prawns were delicious. The salmon penne was creamy and very filling and the tagliatelle chef was an amazing vegetarian option. We both finished off with the chocolate brownie which was warm and gooey and served with a delightful scoop of ice cream. The service was also great and we will definitely be returning very soon!

Ate here last week. Ordered very basic pizza dish & pasta dish. The pizza was burnt. The pasta was very dry & cold. Also had garlic bread as starter - we are still looking for the garlic.

Thanks to Romeos by the Sea for catering for a large party of us (10 people) for a birthday celebration when it was booked last minute. The food at this family-run business is delicious and authentic Italian food and the staff were all lovely and helpful, even putting a candle in a dessert to sing happy birthday. The prices are reasonable for the food served and although small, there is a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant, with an amazing view of penarth seafront just outside.

Came here for a lunchtime meal and viewed set menu online beforehand which included pizza in the mains which was great as my son had his heart set on it. Unfortunately when we got to restaurant it was a different set menu that now didn't include pizza and was also more expensive than advertised on website. Not a problem though I thought and told my son I would order him a pizza off the main menu. On ordering got told they had run out of pizza??!I can't understand how this can be as surely any decent Italian restaurant would make their pizzas from scratch and would have the basic ingredients to do this?!What we did order was very nice but the young girl and boy serving weren't overly friendly and attentive and didn't come to ask if our meals were OK during our meal, only at the end?! I did observe them asking other customers though.My only other dislike of this restaurant was the Aldi salt and pepper grinders on the table! So cheap and nasty looking..

Visited the restaurant after seeing our granddaughter in a dancing show in Penarth. Lovely food, great family atmosphere, really enjoyed the evening. Definitely a place to visit again!

Loved this family run restaurant. Had dinner here mid week. Although busy the service was excellent, the ambiance was cozy and the food was extremely good. My husband ate veal and I had tuna. The brownie and ice cream was very filling but I couldn’t bear to leave any. Definitely recommend.

On a beautiful sunny afternoon on Penarth promenade we once again dined in the best restaurant in Penarth.

We didn’t make a reservation but got a table for two on a Saturday night. The staff were welcoming and friendly and understood the food. Lovely room and ambience. If you’re lucky there are tables overlooking the sea. There was a large group in but there was no disturbance. The food was amazing, arrived piping hot and with good portion size. Delicious and good value. Bread and olives at the table too which is always welcome. Highly recommended.

Meal at Romeo's for 6 of us including a 4 year old. Attentive, quick service. Food was excellent, plenty of it. 4 year old enjoyed his chips, and ice-cream. Will go there again, the next time we are in the area.

Lovely food and if you get a window seat then it’s a fantastic view of the sea Penarth. Only thing was we were upstairs and it was very noisy (not helped by there being a birthday party table)

Tried to book on a Wednesday evening and was asked if we could come at 8pm as they were busy. On arriving, after a short break we were shown to a table on its own in front of the food counter. It was immediately clear that we were sitting in a draft from the open entrance and so we asked if they could close the door. This request was ignored. Over the next 30 minutes we kept closing the door which the staff kept opening until we were approached by a waitress and told not to close it as they were busy serving customers in the seating area outside.

Fantastic food as always , service is always superb , food absolutely delicious definitely a favourite place to visit 😀

Only one other table occupied on outside area! Waiter came to clear dishes, didn't nod say hello or acknowledge me in any way. Waited and waited, there were no customers inside as I watched the lone waiter endlessly polishing cutlery. After another 10 minutes, gave up and sauntered off!

We went to Romeos for lunch with my elderly parents (age 86) as the restaurant is within walking distance of my house. The staff were very caring and helpful, the starters good size portions (you almost do not need a main course) - bruschetta, fish soup, prawn cocktail nothing left at all. The mains were pasta of various sorts, pizza, fish, steak, chicken and veal, I had a mixed fish dish which was superb, I have had it before and I am sure I will have it again. Desserts included a homemade tiramisu. Washed down with a perfect coffee.

This place fit the bill perfectly for a pasta supper by the sea whilst watching the activities of the Penarth Rowing Club & close by RNLI station.

To start you have one option for a glass of wine, when it arrives in a very thick rimmed glass it is unappealing.

I love this restaurant and last time I came here the food was so good I knew I'd be back. I had the garluc mushrooms and the spaghetti with olives and capers and finished on the vegan ice cream with mixed berries :)

Visited Romeos for the second time last weekend. Our first visit was really good but our second was excellent. Has a lot of charm as a restaurant and the staff are lovely. The food was amazing. Had deep fried mozzarella for starters and a lovely pasta dish with sun-dried tomatoes asparagus onions and peas. They are great on allergies and could advise on gluten free dishes and on nut allergies too. Can't wait to return as the food was so good.

Tried to book online, but didn’t get a confirmation reply. Got a table for two downstairs. Disinterested staff, not at all friendly. Whitebait and aubergine stuffed with ricotta to start. Aubergine very bland. Veal and spaghetti with asparagus and prawns as mains. 3 small prawns in again a very bland dish. Restaurant walls dirty and stained. And why are the house wines Spanish?! We won’t return or recommend.

Visited for our anniversary meal, as we love the food and can not fault the great customer service. But, with this time particular visit wasn’t too great, my main course was lovely just as I expected it to be. My starter was not great, I had the bruschetta pomodoro and it was tasteless, the tomatoes were hardly sliced, I didn’t taste any garlic, and it was very oily. It’s usually packed with flavour. It looked pretty much thrown together without a second thought. I don’t want to come across as though I am fishing for faults as I’ve never done that when attending any restaurant especially here as we visit often.

Lovely seaside setting unfortunately it was a bit of a miserable day when we visited - wet and windy. We had two courses at lunchtime and all enjoyed our choices. Caprese salad, bruschetta and calamari followed by carbonara and two risottos. My seafood risotto was lovely - lots of fish in it. Service was good. Would definitely visit again.

We reserved a table quite late in the day and we're cheerfully accommodated. From the minute we walked in the staff were welcoming and efficient. There is a good choice on the menu including vegan and vegetarian. We both chose a veal dish which came with potatoes and vegetables and both were utterly delicious! Sides of garlic bread were gorgeous. We both decided to have the lemon desert which we could not fault. All the portions were generous and drinks were reasonably priced. The service was excellent, the staff were efficient and friendly, great food and we'd certainly come back here again.

A pleasant and bright restaurant right on sea front with great view across the Bristol Channel. When the weather is warm enough there is also an outside dining area.

The food and service here are always brilliant. Plenty of choice and lamb rack is special. Staff are amazing. Visit regularly
