I don't go here as much as I used to so it's always makes me smile when I do. Great place, food always is good, I like the vibe! It's a traditional family run business and they are always do welcoming. Not sure what drink you want? Don't worry they will make anything you fancy or experiment and make some with the ingredients you do want. Can't wait for my next visit 🤗

I've been meaning to go here since Covid times, but the negative reviews for poor service put me off. Went yesterday (Saturday, 7pm) with close family and was so pleased with the place. Great food, very reasonable prices and a fantastic atmosphere. The only negative was trying to get the bill. Asked 3 servers and it took another request to a senior person to finally get it. All in all a great evening, definitely returning.

Came here for an evening meal. The service was poor and the menu on the expensive side. Had garlic pizza to start, which you would assume would be straight forward for an Italian restaurant to make. Still looking for the Garlic. My wife had a pizza for the main course, the pastry you could hardly cut. I had a goats cheese salad, still looking for the cheese.

Went for a lunchtime get together with friends. Had pizza and a beer nice pizza made on site. Service and staff are nice , good atmosphere.

The Villa Napoli has consistently been one of our favourite places to eat at for the past 20 years. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. It's lovely for a drink in the bar too. Highly recommended.

The venue, the service, and the food were all outstanding. Really beautiful decor and the most delicious ragu. I would highly recommend and I'll be back.

We had such a lovely meal at Villa Napoli (Glendale hotel) The welcome and service was friendly, the staff were very attentive. The inside of the restaurant was nicely presented, the open plan kitchen and impressive pizza oven gave it a great atmosphere! Most importantly the food was fresh, delicious and great value for money. We will definitely return!

A waiter was very mean to me and my friend. It actually ruined our mood. The food in here is also not worth its price.

When we entered, we just asked a polite question. The waiter replied in a sarcastic way and humiliated us in front of the other customers. All the staff is really mean. The food is too expensive and it’s definitely not worth the price. I definitely don’t recommend you visiting this restaurant.

Had a fabulous meal here. All 4 family members were very happy with their food. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. A special mention for Rocco who showed endless patience with the parents of a fractious toddler. We’ll definitely return next time we’re in the area.

Food was delicious and staff welcoming. Food was reasonable priced but had a real shock with the price of the drinks, so over priced which put a damper on the evening. Cost of wines were available but not the spirits. Will go again but probably stick with a soft drink/water.

Absolutely awful experience. We've wanted to eat at this restaurant since we moved to Penarth a year ago. So disappointing and left us feeling very angry. Our outside table was booked for 6.30pm and by 7.45pm we still hadn't eaten. Our side dish of garlic bread came 40 minutes before our main course, and our main course only arrived after I went into the restaurant to say we'd been waiting nearly an hour since ordering. We'd obviously been forgotten but no apology was offered and the manager was very arrogant and dismissive. The pasta portions were small and no way worth £18 for a vegetarian dish. My daughter had a Calzone, which was also £18 and a total rip off for some cheese and vegetables wrapped in pizza dough. No complimentary drinks or a reduction in the bill was offered after waiting 1 hour and 30 minutes to eat. If the manager had been apologetic and courteous I would have accepted mistakes happen, although I would still give a poor rating for quality and quantity of the food. You go out to eat for a pleasant experience but this was the complete opposite. It was a family occasion as our daughter was visiting us and it completely ruined our evening.

The most fantastic muscles from the Gower, the best we’ve ever tasted. Wonderful pizza (GF) and seafood risotto was superb. Staff were polite and appreciative of our feedback. Pleasure to dine here. We were recommended by a local and were hugely impressed. Lovely end to a good day in Penarth.

Went as a couple, early evening.The only downside- which is pretty major-!- is that my husband is wheelchair bound & we could only eat out front under the awning, which was fine as it was a nice summer’s evening. However to go inside there are 3 fairly steep steps. No ramp to go in. Perhaps the bar area could be modified to accommodate a table or two? We thoroughly enjoyed our main courses, rigatoni with Tuscan sausage& linguine with crab. We shared a starter, which I’m glad about as it was quite large for one, sourdough toast( very good) , burrata and Parma ham.Dessert was ok- tiramisu a bit too creamy& sweet for me, pistachio cheesecake a but bland, I like my coffee quite strong- it was a little weak. Service was very good, helpful and attentive staff. The place was quite busy. Overall we had a good experience but there should be access for a wheelchair to get inside.

Visited the restaurant on a busy Thursday night with a friend. Staff were obviously rushed but still really helpful and friendly, we didn’t have a booking but they found a spot for us. Food was fantastic. We had olives and breads to start and the pizza for main. (We even ended up grabbing some pizza to go) Had the BEST panna cotta I’ve ever tasted. 👌🏼 Looking forward to taking the family back. Stunning setting and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Very nice food and great service

We returned to this restaurant after many years absence to celebrate a friends birthday. with much anticipation of a good evening .. There were 6 of us in all and it was a very busy evening. at Vila Napoli. Sadly our experience was a disappointing and upsetting one. Firstly we were 6 persons placed on a table for 4, leaving little room for the food and drinks when they arrived. All the food portions were small and when the vegetables arrived to accompany the meals we thought there was more following...as it was clearly not enough for our group. We enqired if this was for all persons to be told yes. so we politely asked for more ... it arrived quickly but it was dumped unhappily on our table.. Also the standard of food was of a poor quality in our opinion. The service was slow and unattentive..We were never once asked if we were happy with our food. Our table was left uncleared of glasses for most of the meal..and was still full as we left.. When we asked for our bill it came to our table hand written and completley un itemized and several slips of paper attached which we couldn't decipher as to what was on them?? making it difficult to be able to check it.. Each couple was to put in their amount..(some people don't drink, also others had only had one course so it was unfair to split bill fairly) There was no way we could make out what anything cost and how many drinks /coffees were charged for. It did also seem a large bill for what we had consumed..After several attemps to decipher the bill unsuccessfully between us, we unhappily decided to just put the amount together and pay..By this time we were all very fed up /unhappy & dissatisfied.. Sadly S. What was to have been a lovely birthday celebration had been spoiled by our experience here.. we all agreed that this was one of the worst meals and experiences we have had in a long time.. Would we return ?? Definately not.. and i would not recommend this restaurant to anyone i know

Not great. Risotto was very salty and oily. Double espresso tasted like filter coffee. Told the head waiter about the risotto and no response. Friends had pasta that was ok but overcooked. Music too loud. Focaccia and olives fine. Go to Casanova in Quay Street

A little disappointed - I had the hake which was pricey for a small portion with very little sauce. Used to love coming here but miss Tony’s input and charm. Would stick to the pasta or pizza in the future.

Tasty fresh food that was packed with flavour. The atmosphere is relaxed and perfect for catching up with friends, family or a date night. We have moved to Penarth recently and delighted to find this gem within walking distance from our house. So good we booked in again to return.

We have recently moved to Penarth and have been very lucky to be living so close to this restaurant! We have had several take aways and even as a take away the steak is perfect! I booked my mother in for a couple of meals whilst she was house sitting and she loved her evenings there! The owner and staff looked after her and her friend like they were family! Always fantastic food and lovely family vibe.

I stayed in the rooms above. I cannot recommend the place enough. My work had messed up my booking, meaning I booked here at the very last minute and my allowance of £25 was carried over as I arrived super late. They spoiled me. Gave me a bottle of wine as I missed a night of food to take home for the Mrs. The food was some of the best food I have ever had, especially the lamb.... Honestly. I will come back just to eat and I'm over 3hrs away. Many thanks.

I stayed at the Glendale Hotel which is part of the same business whilst working in the Penarth area. The restaurant was great. Nice decor, good vibe (they had the Wales v England World Cup game on) and the food was fantastic. Squid in chickpea chilli and onion sauce to start and seafood pizza to follow. Both awesome Owner really friendly (apologies I didn’t get your name). Highly recommended

Been eating here for many many years and once again it didn’t disappoint. Warm welcome, good service, delicious food & generous portion. Tempura prawns were large with delicious dipping sauce. Veal was beautifully cooked, tender & plentiful. Irish coffee was perfect to finish the meal …. Piping hot & you could sure taste the whiskey. Excellent all round. Would highly recommend.

Restaurant has some of the tastiest food I've eaten. Had the mushroom/pulled beef starter and 'Tony's Pizza' main. Super impressed. 👌 Great atmosphere too. I was solo on a work trip but would love to of had my wife with me

This is a proper Italian restaurant. Fresh food cooked to order. I've been eating here for 18 years and have the mid riff to show for it. It's a beautiful restaurant in pleasant surroundings, Tony and family look after their customers. Many thanks.

Food was luke warm for some of the party of 8 people. Sorry Villa Napoli but this is the 2nd time also that there was a substantial overcharge on the bill. Fabulous little waitress who worked very hard traipsing back and forth trying to sort it out

Friendly welcome to start. Had a drink at the bar while waiting for our table. Ordered our food, starters were perfect, olives and cheesy garlic bread. When the starters arrived we ordered some more drinks. The drinks never arrived! Mains came, ordered 2 pizzas and 2 calazone. The calazone arrived as pizzas, but they had no more pizza doe to replace them. Re-ordered the drinks.....they never arrived. All in all a disappointing visit. The food was excellent but half of it was not what we ordered. And the drinks never arrived. We did get some money off the bill but don't think we will return.

Very basic in need of a update toilet separate from room but private to you, restaurant was packed so book in advance, unfortunately we didn't.

First time I've been here for years..... So glad we came back !! Beautiful food, lovely inside and superb service. We've already booked to go back.

My daughters and I were warmly received and our food arrived in a timely manner. Staff were attentive without being intrusive. Food was beautifully presented and expertly crafted. We thoroughly enjoyed.

It has been a while since we have visited this restaurant . As usual we were treated well by the owner and his staff. First starters we had pate and avocado, with crayfish and Marie Rose sauce . For our main course we had lamb and hake with a lovely crumb and Jerusalem Artichokes sauce. Both meals came with vegetables. For desert we both had tiramisu . We finish with coffee. The overall meal was very delicious and the best feature was the crumb on the hake. I will definitely visit soon.

Food stunning service great Young Lad called Jack a real sweetheart only downside was toilets had go through private party felt awkward but def be back as food was simply lush.

As locals we decided to try the Restaurant again after a couple of disappointing visits a year or two ago. We won’t be rushing back. The food was quite nice, no grumbles there, however the staff were extremely diffident and did not make us feel valued customers. I needed to leave our table in order to find a member of staff to take our order for both main course and dessert, the second time to find three members of staff chatting together round the corner by the bar. The restaurant was not busy. All in all a disappointing experience, we won’t be going back.

We went to the Villa Napoli for lunch after a recommendation from a colleague. The welcome was friendly and professional and the service during the meal continued in this manner. We had a starter and main course. The food was presented beautifully. We started with squid and stuffed mushrooms with pulled beef. Both were so good that we couldn’t decide which we preferred. The main course was linguine with crab meet and linguine with mushrooms. Again, both were beautifully cooked and presented. The overall experience, both for the standard of food and the service surpassed all expectations. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend the restaurant.

Met with some family here on coming to penarth for a visit, great food and service, such a good atmosphere on a busy Saturday night, wonderful decor, relaxed dining and great value, will definitely return.

This evenings meal was sublime. Such a difficult time for all in the hospitality industry but Villa Napoli have nailed it with their takeaways. Beef was melt in your mouth and the puddings were to die for. Thank you so much

Been vising the Restaurant now for some 35 years, firstly as a young couple, then a married couple and now with our family. We still experience a first class welcome, atmosphere and dining experience that we received those 35 years ago. The restaurant has just been fully refurbished which enhances the existing bar area and outdoor spaces. We have booked a table again this weekend to which we are really looking forward to , great food, atmosphere and friendly service. Thank you to Toni, Franco and staff for always making us feel special. Hear is to the next 35 years.

I first came to villa napoli a year ago whilst staying in the glendale Hotel above it, a year later I have come back after being so impressed the first time, fantastic authentic Italian food, so delicious, the portion size of the food is fantastic, not too small and it is not too big either, just right, the atmosphere is fantastic, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area. I will make sure that I come again the next time I come to visit the area again.

Have been eating here for years so was impressed by their refurb. Menu, in my opinion, is smaller as they no longer do certain dishes but food is still incredible. Others we dined with said the mussels were the nicest they’d ever eaten. I had the Calamari to start which was fresh and tasty then I had the Carbonara (wow!) it was intensely flavoured, rich & thick with quality ingredients. For me it was by far the best Carbonara ever! Ambience and staff all amazing. A fantastic evening & we shall return

Visited on a very busy Saturday evening, just a few days after they had re-opened following Covid-19. The restaurant and bar has been refurbished since my last visit, it look amazing. The food was outstanding, a few of us had Steak, it was delicious and the mussels were so tasty.Tony and his staff made us feel very welcome, with the usual banter. Cant wait to return.

Managed to book a table in this very busy restaurant. Great atmosphere. Really friendly helpful staff. We all had filet steak which was to die for! My husband had his rare and it was cooked to perfection.Part of the eat out to help our scheme but we'll definitely return whether part of the scheme or not.

Great local & authentic Italian restaurant, based in ground floor of the Glendale Hotel, that has been a mainstay of Penarth for over 20 years. Recently the main restaurant and kitchen have been significantly renovated in a tasteful way, which thankfully has still retained its great character. Great to go to as either full restaurant or just drinks & food in bar side. Food is all beautifully and authenticity Italian.

Wonderful restaurant, just refurbished, we booked for a birthday meal and it was fabulous, the specials were so good especially the stewed veal risotto and chicken breast and the pasta marcello and spaghetti pesto, the atmosphere is so nice, the open kitchen stunning, fantastic night out with great wines

We arrived at 7pm and got the starter very quickly. It then took almost 2 hours before the main arrived. The food itself was excellent and would warrant 5 stars but disappointed about the wait.

Visited for my sister's 30th birthday and ordered rabbit special which was very tasty I was impressed. Nice to see they have blue moon on tap too which I love. Not too expensive and lovely food. Nice atmosphere and friendly waitors. Would recommend

Great restaurant that’s been established for many years and still serves,good,fresh Italian food. The menu choice is varied, and the service is great, the food arrived in good time and was hot. There was a wide selection of drinks, wines and deserts available also. The only thing I would say is the prices are a touch on the high side if you are dining with a family and on a budget, but you do get what you pay for and that’s good honest Italian food.

If you are a connoisseur of real Italian homemade pizza the Villa Napoli is for you! As you will know with Pizza it's all about the base and talking to the chef afterwards I learned how the base mix, prep and good ingredients is what gives it the distinct flavour and sets it apart from the bought-in bases that are widely used but don't have the same flavour or texture. Tried the Pizza Marinara which is just amazing and a big pizza. I've recently been to Italy and that's where you'll have to go to get a better Pizza!

Although we live locally , we hadn’t been to the restaurant for a long time . We went with friends and the meal was excellent , I had the calamari, which I assumed would be battered , but were served unbattered , and were excellent . The other three in the group had the special sole starter, served with a crayfish sauce , beautifully cooked fish with a really excellent sauce . The three pasta dishes were again excellent, the seafood sauce was just right , good amounts of seafood and white fish , the pasta was cooked as it should be , slightly aldante , the main course of fish in a sea urchin sauce was also superbly cooked . The service was good and the drinks were reasonable . I will be going again , I would award it 4.5 stars but TripAdvisor doesn’t let you

Nice cosy place, pleasant hosts, fairly quick service and decent food. Tried their pizza and surf and turf steak and some seafood starters all of which were fairly good and worth a shot.

Visited Villa Napoli with family on Thursday night for dinner. We had a wonderful evening, definitely one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve eaten at, very authentic. The food was stunning, the calamari starter exquisite. The service was amazing, we were served by a very lovely man who really topped off our experience. We will definitely be returning, I couldn’t have asked for a nicer evening. Thanks again.

4 of us went for a meal on Tuesday night. The place was reasonably busy and the atmosphere was great (great music in the background too).Food was great and the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful.Food is reasonably priced and there is a decent range of wines. Well worth a visit.

Lovely, charming restaurant with lovely staff and excellent food

Asked for the black pudding as an amuse bouche and the owner was more than happy to provide. The chef went on to cook some stunning food from the specials followed by well thought out home made desserts. We had a wonderful time and were looked after superbly.

Definitely recommend the steak. Best steak I've had in years. Great quality perfectly cooked served with properly cooked fresh vegetables.
