I hate when a restaurant claims it's authentically Italian and it's not. I don't expect much from a restaurant, just great food and value for the price I'm paying. This experience was below standard. It was around 5.30 pm when we arrived, the staff was around the entrance/bar area and the restaurant was empty (it was Saturday). One lady was lovely, warm and welcoming throughout. She had an Italian accent and she's the reason we've given 2 stars for the service. Too many red flags I'm afraid overall, we won't be coming back. 1. We've sat in the very corner of the restaurant and almost throughout our stay there was a strong tobacco odour coming through, we had no idea where it was coming from (the front door was open, so that could have been the reason). 2. We've ordered 2 water bottles and were given glasses with ice, lime and lemon, which would've been lovely, but there was an awful aftertaste while drinking, so we had to ask for new glasses. 3. I ordered minestrone soup and it's one of the easiest soups to make, but it was a tiny portion with al dente vegetables, tasted bland and loads of brocolli chunks swimming on the top. It was truly the worst minestrone soup I have ever eaten. 4. We also ordered pizzas that took forever to arrive. Once they arrived, they tasted ok, but the pizza base was like a dry dehydrated pan fried pancake with toppings on. I've never seen anything like it! If you know anything about gastronomy, Italy and if you're a food lover-it will be clear to you that the food in this restaurant isn't to a standard. In fact, Italians would be very ashamed with the lack of quality and taste. 5. Lastly, we weren't warned or told about we could potentially get a parking ticket if we don't fill out our registration plate number in. We had to find out ourselves once we went to the toilet, as a sign was put up on the toilet wall. 6. The staff seemed uninterested, chatting and standing around the restaurant. The price was too high for the quality and portion sizes and we left feeling frustrated and hungry. What a waste of money this experience was!

First time, it didn't disappoint. The food was very tasty, but a little bit expensive of taking the size of the portions into consideration. The service was good, but a bit slow, considering the restaurant wasn't full and we had to gradb the attention of the waiters to clean our table and order out deserts.

I had never heard nor been to Romano's until this weekend and wow! It didn't disappoint! The service was 10/10, the food was delicious! Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Must have got the staff on an off night judging by other reviews. Food was nice but Manchester prices. Staff were blunt and rather cold apart from the cheery guy on reception. Was a Thursday night so not packed. Maybe why the atmosphere was non existent

Highly recommend 😍 We found this little gem a couple of months ago. We have been 5 times since. It’s been lovely everytime. Nice staff, great atmosphere and delicious food. This place is family run and really deserves recognition. If your considering trying out a new Italian give this place ago and support your local independents. You won’t be disappointed

Very friendly ,greeting, as we walk in,was given plenty of time to look at the menu, food was good quality, 3 of us and the house red wine, which was very good, all our food was served hot,as we were a party of 5,,very reasonable price, would recommend it,as my 1st time, and can't wait to go back and try something different, would like to thank all the staff for a excellent service, it was 12/1223 booked a table for 5 people as before excellent service and excellent quality food definitely recommend this place,

We go to Romano’s regularly and always have a great meal. The Porchetta is outstanding. The service and wines are also excellent. Bravo Romano 👏👏👏

Lovely food and lovely atmosphere

Best food by far, what else can you say!!!

Went in early Sunday evening with my wife a grandson, we were treated pleasantly and were all pleased with our various pasta dishes. Another point of interest for me, was a woman came up to me asking questions about myself for a couple of minutes assuming I was a member of Romani’s staff. It turned out she meant the owner. I told him as we left; we both laughed reflectively. Great place.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. You can tell it’s Italian, the heart and soul goes into making the food (the taste proves this) all the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere and environment is brilliant, you can even see into the kitchen where the food is prepped. All I can say is 10/10 and I will definitely be coming back! Thank you for the incredible food

Another good night at the best restaurant in Longton

First time we've been, was very nice place, people and food. Reasonable prices. Would go back. 2years later. We have kept going and always enjoy it. Lovely food and staff always pleasant. Never had a bad experience and desserts are lovely. Took a wheelchair last night and it was still great and good disabled toilets. Staff listened to what we needed to be comfortable. 11/04/2023 Last time we went was last year as we are now finding the price’s expensive and have to keep it to special occasions. If there was a Tue-Thur set menu as an offer I would go more but with there not we have gone for a different restaurant to keep the cost down. I really enjoy when we go and the food is lovely.

Food and service were excellent, all the staff were really friendly. Great selection of food. The lobster ravioli was especially good. I wouldn't hesitate to visit again. They were easily able to accommodate for one of our party who needed both a dairy and gluten free meal.

Staff where very attentive, food was deliciouse. Will definately be going again.A great 70 th birthday meal.

Garlic bread was like a poppadom , the main and sweet was nice however we were rushed by staff to both eat up and drink up, glass taken away whilst still had some in. We were going to finish with coffee but gave it up as a bad job. We were even told people were waiting for the table. We left before our food had settled feeling rushed and safe to say none of us will be returning. Food itself ok but customer service bordered on rude. We want to eat and enjoy our food not be rushed like it was school canteen. Not for us.

10/10 highly recommend. Excellent food, relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff. Would recommend to everyone, you won't leave disappointed. 5 stars all round. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We went on 23rd April and although i wanted a later time, they could only fit us in earlier at 6:30pm..Very friendly staff and polite, although they probably came over too much to ask about more drinks and desserts, if i want anything else I'll ask..The garlic bread with tomato was very tasty..Neither if us had alcohol but the lime and soda was nice.. GF had a salmon pasta dish that she loved, but for me it should have been a bigger portion.(too small) My main was a spicy sausage dish, very disappointed but i did eat it and at nearly £16 i think overpriced. Lets just say it had an unusual taste. May go again but not my 1st on list.

A really nice place to be and the food was amazing. Romano was a great host and his wine cellar will suit anyone's taste. Great to have a local Italian restaurant on my doorstep and I am returning nearer Christmas for one of Romanos fillet steaks

A friendly and welcoming restaurant with a bustling happy atmosphere. Lots to choose from on the menu with a good choice of wines too! We will be back- again!

Sorry to say but I had a really poor experience here. The noise in the restaurant was overwhelming to start with. Maybe the wrong time to go as it was very busy. As a result service was slow, we had to ask to make our order three times before someone actually came to take it. So just shy of an hour to get our food order placed. Then I can't say the food made up for it. It is a shame as I had heard good things about the place.

Cheap and cheerful but expensive prices. Asked if someone can take our order after waiting 15 minutes and was told they weren't ready yet! Special starter £9 consisted of 5 prawns in a watery tasteless sauce on a bed of wet lettuce leaves and very poorly presented. £18 main of pork, again not well presented and still had string on it. £30 bottle of wine spilt down both glasses when poured by waiter. Very sloppy. Comparable prices to an expensive a la carte restaurant, yet food sub standard. Unfortunately will not be visiting again.

Our first visit but certainly not the last! Lovely welcome and fabulous service and the most comprehensive menu I’ve seen in ages. The food was top quality and utterly delicious. Very highly recommended 5* all the way!

Celebrated our Golden Wedding at Romano's yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed our first visit after lockdown. Covid proof precautions in place but still a lovely atmosphere. The food as delicious as always and served by the most polite and lovely staff. We love Romano's and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Such good food here, so many different and tasty creative dishes than other Italian restaurants and always plentiful. The staff are attentive and all necessary covid protocols attended too. I really love eating here, high recommended and family run.

We went to this restaurant for my step sons 30th birthday .was the worst experience that I’ve ever had in a restaurant . The manager was the rudest man I’ve ever met in my like and has now customer service skills at all . Started with he would not add chicken to a dish This we accepted ,next up was can we have the garlic bread with our starters most people do not that he said and pulled his face . He then came with the starters and one was wrong we questioned him on this and started to shout he then removed the starter a came with the correct one the manager came to remove the finished dishes but was un happy when some was left he again started to shout . We all got up and left Beware

Absolutely appalled at the service we received tonight. A party of 12 for my husband's 30th birthday and we left before our mains even arrived. It started when we made a simple request to add chicken to a pasta dish to which we were told NO quite abruptly and told I cannot change his menu! I was baffled but accepted that he wasn't willing to add the chicken. Following this I had ordered a mushroom starter from the specials menu by showing the waiter the specials menu and pointing out the dish I wanted whilst requesting "please can I have the mushrooms from the specials menu". When the starter arrived it was the mushrooms from the main menu. I politely pointed out that I had asked for the mushrooms from the specials menu to which he argued that I had just said I wanted the mushrooms. I reminded him that I had pointed at the menu whilst ordering and he snatched my plate away and said he'd change them, which he did. The mushrooms arrived and weren't to my taste. He came to collect the plates and questioned why I hadn't eaten them so I explained that I just didn't like them as they weren't to my taste. He proceeded to shout at me questioning what was wrong with them and putting a menu in my face and pointing at me. By this point I just told him to take them away as I could feel myself shaking. I went outside to calm down and could hear him shouting, when I looked through the window he was shouting at my husband and then my mum who was sat next to my 91 year old grandad and my daughter who left in tears. He accused me of going to his venue to complain! On my husband's 30th birthday! I hadn't complained at any point throughout the evening. There was another waiter who apologised as did the chef which was appreciated. I have never been treated so badly whilst paying for a service and i am quite honestly still in shock. Needless to say, I would not recommend and will not be returning.

The food and service were below par. The special I had was borderline unpleasant. The calamari was bland and poorly presented. The coke was horrible draught stuff. The dessert was nice but clearly bought in. We were virtually ignored by the waiting staff who were joyless and abrupt. It's also expensive... I can get better food, drink, service and value for money at Prezzo. I won't be going back here.

Just had a great night at Romano's restaurant in Longton for my wifes birthday. Very friendly atmosphere and great staff, always someone to see to your needs. Food is always spot on and reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit.
