The most INCREDIBLE dining experience. Every dish is just a show stopper and unforgettable and the service is impeccable. The flavours are so well done and delicately balanced and unique. I also loved how they used so many local ingredients. Every single part of the meal was crafted with such care. the husband and wife duo who run the restaurant are so talented and kind. We went for our one year wedding anniversary and were even given a wonderful surprise card written in Japanese.

Roji is a place I would easily come back to! Their small intimate space is warm and welcoming and the food delivers. I was impressed with their ability to stick with true Japanese style letting the ingredients shine on their own however still being able to put their spin on things. Only thing I would change would be to post or print which nigiri pieces were going to be/had been served that night. It was sometimes hard to hear what each piece was and some only got the English name but this is very minor and doesn't really distract from the fact that it was amazing regardless! Would recommend!

So much care and so much effort goes into each course here that the labors being exerted before you somehow eclipse the joy to be found in fine dining. This seems like an odd quibble, I know, but it is not quite possible to relax into the experience you are hoping to have. The space is very intimate - so much so, that I witnessed a few moments of tension between Tomas and Tomoko that made me a bit uncomfortable. One might argue that this is the nature of omakase sushi restaurants, but, in fact, I have enjoyed many such meals that felt less awkward and honestly, more fun. A few courses really stood out as original and utterly delicious, notably the tofu course and several of the nigiri. The chef’s use of dehydrated mushroom, uni, and mentaiko salts was innovative but not always successful in enhancing other dishes, namely the sashimi, the soup, and the venison. Fish was faultlessly fresh, and most importantly, the sushi rice was exceptional, however the focus on local-ish fish left me a bit wanting. I love how sustainable Roji’s approach is and applaud their effort to use the best seasonal fish available from Dorset, Cornwall and Spain, but the flavors were not those of the best Japanese fish, so the experience was not that of an authentic Japanese omakase. Sake pairings were lovely, as was the experience overall….it just wasn’t quite what I was hoping for.

If you want an amazing unique intimate culinary experience and love Japanese food, then this is the best you'll get... by far. Both Tamas & Tomoko (owners & chefs) have not only conjured a wonderfully balanced menu, but the quality of produce was the best I've ever eaten in a restaurant. They are very welcoming and you can feel the true passion that goes into their food and service. The Hotate Isobe-age (scallop dish), was the best scallop I have ever tasted anywhere. Chisou have a pretty good track record picking winners from the new generation of sushi chefs, often opening the floor to non-Japanese talent. In Roji, they’ve done it again. Tamas and Tomoko’s sushi is very, very good - rice, preparation and seasoning all beyond reproach - but it is their cooking that sets Roji apart. Expert and diligent preparation combine in beautifully balanced flavours that elevate the whole experience beyond the London omakase norm. The atmosphere is relaxed, intimate and friendly, and the thoughtfulness of the unusual sake pairing a pleasant surprise, though with the sheer number of glasses, it can feel a little rushed. Relative to its peers, the set price for the meal is very reasonable. Overall, Roji is a welcome addition to the London scene, and one that finds itself firmly near the top.

Roji - A Culinary Symphony My recent dining experience at Roji near Bond St station was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I walked in, it was evident that this place was special. The husband and wife team behind Roji orchestrated a gastronomical symphony that left me in awe. What truly sets Roji apart is their unwavering commitment to quality, particularly when it comes to sourcing local produce. Each dish on the omakase menu was a testament to this dedication. It felt like a journey through the bountiful flavors of London's finest ingredients. The synchronization between the husband and wife team was remarkable. They worked together with such precision, meticulously timing each course and paying incredible attention to the smallest details. It was evident that they put their hearts and souls into every serving, creating a seamless and unforgettable dining experience. Every course that graced my seat was a work of art, both visually and in terms of taste. The freshness of the ingredients was unparalleled, and the flavors were a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation. I felt like I was on a culinary adventure, with each dish building upon the last, creating a crescendo of flavors. Without a doubt, Roji offers London's best omakase experience. If you're a fan of exquisite, locally sourced ingredients prepared with precision and passion, look no further. Roji is where gastronomic dreams come true. I can't wait to return for another symphony of flavors.

An unforgettable experience - I have a feeling I'll be thinking about this in the weeks/months to come! Tamas and Tomoko are truly masters of their craft and have designed a wonderful and intricate menu with an emphasis on sustainably-sourced local ingredients. I really appreciated the detailed explanations they provided with every dish, such as the choice of pickle for the sushi (won't give away too many spoilers!) Serving starters on the pottery pieces they'd handmade was a nice touch too. The space itself was warmly lit and made us feel so at ease. For me, simply the best Omakase experience in London, likely the UK, and possibly Europe. The whole thing is hugely enhanced by the chef-patrons commitment to sourcing ingredients from local, sustainable sources. Tamas and Tomoko manage to beautifully mix the very best of Japanese technique and flavours with their own fresh creativity and ideas. This was my second visit to Roji, after a birthday treat earlier this year. The menus adhere to traditional structure, but both meals were unique and inspired by seasonal changes and ingredients. It is obviously an indulgence, and something for a special occasion, but no one can begrudge the cost when you see the amount of work, care, experience and skill that goes into each dish as it is assembled in front of you. There is clearly so much love invested in the restaurant by the couple, and it is reflected in the attention to detail paid to every part of the meal: not just the food, but the plateware, cutlery, design and service. Everything has been considered to support and complement the beautiful food that is presented without fanfare, but real pride. Highly, highly recommend.

Both dishes and sake were outstanding and served in beautiful ceramics too. It is very impressive that all ingredients are sourced locally (apart from the rice I think). Loved the whole menu, but some dishes deserve a separate mention, in my opinion the scallops and char were divine. Great nigiri selection too, of which I will never forget the lobster, red mullet and otoro (tuna). The intimate setting with only ten seats around the counter adds to the charm and authenticity of the experience. An absolutely incredible meal, one of the very best in meals that we've had in London (and definitely the best japanese meal we've had here). The chefs at Roji seem to understand Japanese food deeply - that less is more, and that the beauty of it lies in restraint. This is not the kind of place where every piece of nigiri is topped with yuzu or gold leaf or caviar (there are far too many places London like that ). It's also not the kind of place where every piece of fish served is flown in from Japan. Instead, the focus is in sourcing extremely high quality fish relatively locally, and on making sure the fish was killed the right way and aged appropriately. The nigiri served to us was uniformly excellent. But the one dish of the night that absolutely took my breath away was the aged arctic char. A simple dish of fish, pickles, and a couple of pieces of mushroom. But in that simplicity was perfection. The depth of flavor on the arctic char was mindblowing. Some bites of food haunt you, make a lasting impression that lingers for far longer than seems sane or reasonable. The arctic char at Roji was one such dish for me. The chefs at Roji are doing high end japanese the way its supposed to be done. No tricks, no gimmicks, just top notch ingredients prepared beautifully and with the perfectly amount of restraint. TLDR: A truly exceptional meal and experience. We can't wait to go back.

With only 10 pre-booked seats available, the whole experience feels well invested. The fact that they have carefully selected the ceramics to go with locally sourced ingredients is transporting. It feels like a spa for food enthusiasts tucked away from the busy streets of London; like you step in a Narnian closet but with Japanese elements. Another hideaway unfolded into the open - the things I am hesitant of announcing but the world just needs to know. The couple chefs were just amazing with their service and looking forward for more. A 2-hour dinner was just not enough. I didnt even have the opportunity to experiment on their drinks menu as there wasn't a pairing set for the omakase, but to be fair, I was already swept away with the food (despite having one steal the show by not being happy with the sushi rice). I wasn't so sure though about the little giveaway at the end as it started leaking arriving at the hotel. I think it was something pickled. Although it is basic courtesy, but maybe a dress code reminder could be reiterated as someone can just turn up in their board shorts and that spoils the experience. As for the early birds, just before you reach that little alley to the restaurant, there's a nice art exhibit you might want to drop by.

Having lived for many years in Asia I can report there exist very few places that whisk you away, that truly dupe your senses into believing your coordinates have changed. In the face of Nippon not being back to fully open, Roji can help fill those left bereft of the artistry, provenance, tranquility and dedication it takes to making sushi par excellence. I was instantly transported. Every detail feels authentic; the decor, the sake list, the crockery and especially the service. And when it comes to the food, it is simply a slice of mastery. To witness every dish prepared in front of you, to hear the dynamic Roji duo talk with unwavering passion about their creations. To hear stories of how the ingredients made voyage to plate. To be allowed, just for a few fleeting moments, to imagine you are back in Japan. That, to me, was enough to compel me to write. This is somewhere special. I was spirited away.

This was an amazing restaurant. I lived for 3 years in Tokyo and found both the level of cuisine and inventiveness at Kake were impressive. The service was spotless but the vibe nonetheless not stuffy. Kake successfully innovates beyond the Japanese traditions. I would definitely come back.

A wonderful dining experience. Coming out of months of lock-down into a peaceful and relaxing sushi meal was the best way to spend an evening. Jon and his chef team were so friendly and helpful explaining the food and showing real passion for Japanese food and drink. We ate the larger tasting menu and whole thing was amazing. You have to come here if you are looking for exceptional sushi, super service and a really original dining experience. Thanks Jon and team.

If you’re looking for a post-lockdown treat, this is it! Chefs Jon and Shaulan pulled out all the stops with each and every course. A highlight of the meal was the Saba mackerel nigiri with fresh ginger, quite possibly the best single morsel I’ve ever eaten, as well as a delicate mini turnip course that was exquisite. A lovely added touch were the home-made pickles between each course, far tastier than the usual flaccid sliced ginger you get at sushi restaurants. Kaké is for sushi lovers and foodies alike. Highly recommend this place.

It was really an enjoyable dinner. We went there on the first day of Kake‘s opening for omakase dining experience, it was also my son’s birthday. We tried the full menu. The qualities of the food were high with some seasonal products from Japanese family run’s farm and fresh caught sea foods. The chef and his colleagues presented creative dishes but still a kind of Japanese style. Especially the lobster sushi and tuna toro sushi were very tasty. The service was also very attentive. We had a great evening there.

Delicious food and lovely service. We were with another couple and we all four had an amazing night. The sushi is wonderful, the aubergine is the best!
