£80 birthday dinner to be sick to my stomach for two days after. Have been eating sushi my whole life and has never happened to me before.

This is an intimate experience where you can sit at the counter and watch as your sushi is prepared for you. Sushi Atelier offers a creative and fresh menu. It’s a great place to celebrate or grab some comfort food. The service was brilliant and the sushi did not disappoint. Ratings * Taste: 8/10 * Service: 8/10 * Price: spenny * Presentation: 8/10

Really good for what it is. For an informal sushi place I'm impressed to see real wasabi root being used. The atmosphere is right—I love sushi places where the counter is the prominent feature. There are also tables available. The menu highlight are their "omakase" selections with options for 6, 9, 12, or 15 pieces. Might technically be more of a moriawase assortment; you get everything on one platter as opposed to a piece-by-piece serving. In any event it's a good assortment of fish and you'll get a variety of flavors. Good place overall, totally worth a shout. I'd say this is particularly worth looking at if you're looking to dip your toes in the water of a broader assortment of nigiri and don't know where to start. The price point is very accessible especially if you start with a small portion.

Overall, a great place. Food was great and the staff were friendly and attentive. Dessert was extremely delicious 😍

I was amazed by how good this place is! I'm Japanese and I’ve been to several sushi places in London, from cheap to expensive. Honestly, this was one of the best in a way that I feel satisfied with the quality of fish yet not overpriced like some of the high-end restaurants. We ordered edamame, cocktails and yellowtail sushi set and mixed sushi set for two. It was enough and everything was very fresh, I could tell by how fishes were glowing 😉 The waiters were very friendly and helpful which reminded me of Izakaya in Japan. I'm absolutely happy with everything, you get more prices you pay for! 🫶🏻🍣

Visited for lunch on a weekday. The place is nice and the sushi is absolutely delicious. I have to say that the price point it’s definitely not cheap, but absolutely worth it! Service is polite and attentive. Recommended!

Service was friendly, if a bit slow at times and, while I loved the atmosphere of the building (where sitting downstairs actually felt quite cozy and nice), I was expecting a lot from the sushi for the price. The omakase was sushi sets were a really good price for what you get, but the individual nigiri was not worth it (except the mackerel, which was actually amazing).

Speechless. Everything was exquisite. They cook in front of you and everything tastes very fresh. It's a 10/10 located 1 block from one of the most popular streets in central London. To be honest, this is something you think you won't find. The restaurants around the center are just as simple or even bad. So if you are in the center and want to get something really nice, they have a lot of options and everything tastes just amazing.

One of my favorite London sushi spots, never disappoints! Omakase sushi is a must - different, surprising, fantastic! Service is always a highlight of the night. Ask for Josh if you're into sake and want to have some fun:)

Small Japanese restaurant. With great attention to detail, although not always too Japanese. A good mix for this hemisphere. We had different suchi and sashimi's. Sometimes the cuisine interpreted the taste a little differently than usual, but it was always interesting and very tasty. Has my recommendation!

I dined at this restaurant in early May. The food was fantastic, especially the sushi options. Everything we ordered was delicious. The service was excellent as well. Overall, it was a great experience.

It's not worth the price . Took quite long to get the main course between appetisers (+30 mins) Fish quality medium. More for casual lunch than for a date night. The ceviche with mango and yellowtail is below average.

We ordered the 12 piece omakase set and it was worth every penny! Very fresh sushi!

Excellent cuisine! Impeccable service and attentive servers. Only one doubt about one of our dishes which did not seem to include all the ingredients announced (mango avocado roll, we couldn't find the mango which is a shame). The rest was delicious (omakasi sushi 🍣, tuna and truffle roll and frozen mochi 🤤)

We live in Asia and were seriously craving good Japanese food so we decided to try this after seeing the reviews. It was easily the best Japanese meal we’ve had in London, they had a good variety of fish in the chirashi and they were all fresh. The restaurant has a nice Japanese vibe and decorations as such. Service was also lovely! We come each time we are here and this time we returned for lunch and tried 9 and 6 types of sashimi, 3 types of seaweed and a spicy tuna roll - all of which were great

This place looks casual, the quality of the food is anything but. Had the tuna carpaccio which was spectacular. The bento box offered a delicious variety of different dishes. It is on the pricey side, but it is worth it.

Don't come here at lunch hour. Waited almost an hour before we had to leave and cancel our order lest we be late to rejoin work

We had the Yuzu Salted Edamame and two omakase sushi set. A plate of 15 pieces of sushi was served all at once. The quality of the sushi was overall good, and the cocktails were nice, especially the Sweet Tokyo (whisky-based cocktails). It’s hard to find similar sushi quality in London at this price range, but I suggest better control of hygiene. I saw a fly over the sushi (not on our plate) right in front of us, and it seemed the chefs noticed it too, as I believed they did not serve that plate to the client. It would be a good idea to keep the door closed to prevent flies from entering the restaurant.

Good japanese foods however the place is little small and you need to make reservation earlier. The foods can be better in an better price, but the tastes are moderate..

The tuna tataki and sushi omakase were delicius!

Very nice ! If you are around in fizrovia , visit there and try omakase sushi and some sake. So good!

Excellent evening at sushi atelier. Incredible food and drink with points of interest I haven’t seen elsewhere. Friendly service, topped off with the perfect environment to experience this.

Portions could be a bit bigger for the price, but it could be just me being hungry

I stopped here for a dinner date and thankfully (given we hadn't booked) we were lucky to get a table. Even luckier (for me!) my date had spent many years in Japan so knew exactly what to order - much of which I had never previously tried. Everything was perfect and Alex (our server that night) was fantastic - polite, prompt and friendly. It certainly wasn't a cheap meal but to be fair, I never expected it to be.

BEST SUSHI CHEF in London, Rodrigo! Service was fast and welcoming! Sushi quality served was the freshest it can be and they really care about giving fresh fish to customers! Price was so worth it compared to other sushi places I went to! Presentation and artwork was on another level! Definitely recommend!

I’ve had different selections of sushi which was all good! But especially tuna, never had it this good, was melting in my mouth , fatty and flavourful. But what really surprised me was the midori sour , beautiful and most importantly tasty! Just wished there was more!

Best sushis I've ever eaten (and I've lived in Japan)

One of the very best Japanese restaurants in London, food was exceptional, very attentive and informed staff, and a novel way to present the bill. I strongly recommend it .

We had an amazing sushi birthday lunch. The omakase is to die for and the uni nigiri just melted in your mouth. The highlight was the waygu tsukune - such wonderful flavours from the waygu and the uni. Thank you to the wonderful sushi chef Rodrigo and his team for making the lunch so special. The food and service was all wonderful. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend.

Fantastic mid-range sushi place in the heart of Fitzrovia. It’s not the cheapest, but the quality is definitely a step up from cheaper Japanese restaurants. The lunchtime 10 piece omakase set was £36 with great quality fish and inventive toppings. A salad and miso soup were also included in the lunch set. Overall a great place and would return again.

I went with frds during weekday evening with reservations!!! Trying their 12 pcs Omakase, it tastes good with relatively budget friendly price segments, a bunch of fish variety, scallops, salmon … it’s worth to try if you like shushi !!!

I'm Japanese that my most favorite food is sushi. Here's sushi was very nice taste. I think so these sushi was used aged fish and various seasoning. It's like fusion on expensive French and expensive Japanese food. Its were new good taste and to taste can't in Japan I'd like to go again. I ordered the lunch menu of 10 pieces of nigiri. It had a very strong fish flavor, and the seasonings on each topping (soy sauce jelly, caviar, orange zuri, etc.) went well together, so all of them were delicious. I enjoyed it as a new and delicious sushi, different from traditional Japanese sushi and the often disappointing overseas sushi. Although the price is not cheap, I would like to go there again.

We have been at Sushi Atelier for dinner on 1st of May 24 to celebrate a birthday on the family... Food was great and delicious, ambient was friendly, positive, inspiring... Staff extremely friendly, very knowledgeable and very good recommendations in terms of dishes and drinks... Great variety of sake... It is a must... Will be back for more super tasty food... Highly recommend

Sushi Atelier has remained consistently excellent over the past 3 years that I have visited. The service is warm, friendly and helpful. The freshness of the fish and the skill of the sushi chefs is exemplary. Whenever I’m asked where to go for sushi in London, this is the place I recommend for the quality, price point and service.

Absolutely amazing sushi! Probably the best sushi spot in London! The nigiris are out of this world, and their omakase experience tops anything I've tried before. Incredible value for the high-grade quality of fish they serve. The chef even surprised us with a special tuna nigiri, highlighting their exceptional service.

Great sushi! As sushi lovers I fully recommend this place! If you come here and get basic rolls you won’t be wowed and you are missing the point. The al le carte side with individual Sushi and sashimi prices /omakazi is great. Yes it’s gonna run you about $100/person if you do it right..but this sushi is fantastic!

We had lunch there today with our six year old, who now 4,5h later is suffering from food poisoning. When I called to advise them about this I was informed that food poisoning takes 6 hours to develop (that's the advice for adults on the NHS site) and it was suggested that it is was the breakfast we gave him at home that's making him sick. He has vomited twice so far and and has other symptoms as well. He ate edamame beans and eel nigiri. I'll leave it to the reader to make their minds up on this, in case they are thinking of taking their kids there. Not going to add a picture of the vomit, but it doesn't look like his breakfast.

It is a nice sushi restaurant, but to be paying higher than average price, I would have expected a much better taste. Favourite dishes were pan-fried prawns and the matcha cheesecake, but the sushi rolls were overall a bit bland and not that special. Service was very good and attentive, but the place is basic.

This is one of the best sushi places in London. Their menu is unique and goes beyond the usual sushi you find everywhere. The ingredients are fresh. Must have - SPICY TUNA ROLL!! (It was so good I forgot to take a pic). The seared tuna sushi (pic) was also amazing!!

This past October, for my 40th, I requested my favourite cuisine. My partner and our two friends certainly delivered with this excellent place. The lychee martinis, oyako-don bowls, nigiri selections and the sashimi starters were nothing less than exceptional. Service is prompt, not intrusive, and knowledgable about the nuances of the menu. My partner and I have returned several times to recapture the delicate, gentle atmosphere and the delicious fare. We plan on returning many times more. Arigatodemasu.

The server was so nice and the food was really fresh. You can tell how much thought went into the food. Will definitely be coming back!

I refuse to go for sushi anywhere else! Love sitting by the counter and seeing the chefs working hard, the service is so fast and the staff is helpful and kind! The food is absolutely delicious and the fish is fresh! If I could spend my whole salary there I would! But you don't have to, the lunch menus are filling and so affordable! My favourite place to eat in London!

The food and atmosphere was absolutely wonderful. We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary there and it was one of the most memorable meals I've had in years. The Omakase and Wagyu sushi were amazing - some of the best sushi I've ever had. We had seats at the counter which I would highly recommend; the chefs were fascinating to watch and really friendly - they even made us this special dish for our anniversary. Thank you to everyone there!

This has become my favorite go-to sushi restaurant in London. Especially as I'm often nearby at lunchtime. The 10-piece omakase lunch special is extremely well-priced and always delicious. Our serveur was outstanding and the overall meal was excellent -- including our cocktail indulgence!

Food was great, but I didn’t like how they force the service charge. They state it like it is optional on the bill, but won’t ask if you’re willing to pay for the service and just charge it on your card, unless you object.

10/10 i was sitting on the Bar on the very right side (which is also such a good place to go by yourself). The chef, whos name I unfortunately don’t knwo explained everything to me when I was asking, he was so amazingly nice! Even gave me tryals! Very very good service in general, thanks a lot!

The degree of craftsmanship, creativity and love that goes into every piece of sushi is amazing. With a perfect Sake pairing (try the autumn sake) I’ve enjoyed the Omakase menu and was simply thrilled by the taste and presentation! The service is so very friendly and attentive, I’ll definitely be back for more!

Order appetisers, sushi set, sashimi for dinner. Fatty tuna ( toro) was in good quality. We tried tuna in appetiser, sushi and sashimi. It is difficult to find another restaurant with comparable freshness and quality. A must try!

Sushi is amazing. we went for the omakase sushi (you won't regret it) other highlights, wagyu carpaccio 🔥🔥 dragon roll and martinis were good. I was not a fan of the panna cotta but they swiftly replaced it with mochi 👍

Ate here a few times, low standard for London sushi, better going to west london

We were sitting at the counter and it's really fun watching everything get prepared right in front of you. We ordered a sushi platter and a couple 6-piece omakases that were incredible. The staple sushi pieces are well prepared and great quality, but the interesting flavours in the omakase menu were delightful. The cocktails are delicious - the only disappointment was the matcha cheesecake for dessert which I would skip next time to just get more sushi! For <£100 a head, a great spot for quality sushi with a bit of a twist that also doesn't break the bank.

For non-expert like me, the food was amazing. I’d say it’s expensive compared to a normal meal, but perhaps experts would see price being (very?) reasonable for the quality. The sushi omakase set impressed me with variety. Seated at the counter, the chef was so friendly, explained each different fish, even shared with us the best order to eat. I love the attention to detail, each bite was a different delight & great service by the whole team. The bill came in a manga, nice touch! The atmosphere is modern, closer to a clean brightly-lit izakaya (pub) than formal dining. Usually I like such high energy place but somehow I recall feeling a bit overwhelmed. All the chefs were very focused. Visited during lunch hour, best to have reservations as this place seems popular. Price was 90+ GBP for 2 lunch sets, 1 dessert & 1 drink.

One of the best sushis I’ve had in London for a reasonable priced (around 45£ for a set of sushis and tea). Service was efficient, sushis are good and with original taste. Would recommend and definitely come back

Everything was delicious if not inspired. The £10 a serving uni wasn’t fresh, had a very strange, almost sour/numbing flavor I didn’t understand. Enjoy a nice meal here, but I wouldn’t trust the uni again.

Ordinary Japanese food without many choices. Taste ok. A family dinner and tried some sushi and sashimi. There are no noodles or beef dishes. May be there are not many choice of fishes, dishes are very alike. 3 persons cost GBP 123. Normal taste.

Quality is decent, but the price, phew! £48 barely bought enough for 2 people for a takeaway. Very disappointed. Sushi Deluxe (tiny!) and Fried Prawn (again tiny!) Wow. We are so shocked. Value for money = Low.

Overall was quite underwhelmed by the food here, some dishes like the carpaccio were really good but some of the other sushi rolls felt a bit dry and lacked flavour. The staff weren’t too attentive and the matcha cheesecake had an awful texture- it wasn’t an awful experience but I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone

Authentic Japanese place with freshly made sushi

Not bad. I read very good reviews before going so I had pretty high expectations. It was good but not as good as I thought given some of the 5 star reviews I read. Had the Butterfish Carpaccio, it was good. Fatty Tuna rolls, not bad but wouldn’t order again. 12 Piece sushi Omasake, some were good, some were average. The best was seared Salmon belly sushi so I then ordered a 5 piece sushi of Seared salmon belly to finish off. Next time, I would rather order just 3 types of sushi’s with 3-5 piece each and those are the truffle scallop sushi, the fattiest tuna sushi and the seared salmon belly sushi.

An excellent casual sushi bar where the unusual nigiri garnishes are so expertly paired that they do not undermine the great sushi itself. Generally good price:quality ratio, but their £33 lunch ‘omakase’ is one of London’s best value sushi deals. Note though that with their “omakases” you won’t get it piece by piece, nor will you order from the itamae, even if sat at the bar.

The very very fresh ingredients and warm atmosphere were impressive. You can always eat great quality sushi or sashimi whenever you go. Lunch sets are reasonably priced and have a lot. Chirashi is so beautiful that my eyes are happy. Various small dishes are authentic. When someone in London asks me to recommend a Japanese restaurant where can eat raw fish(sushi or sashimi), I always talk about Sushi Atelier first.

Amazing place. Not from london and do not live in London but everytime I’m here, this is a must stop for Japanese. Beyond expectations, was shocked the first time I came, I would say this competes or is maybe even better than multinational brands such as zuma n nobu. Amazing service, food, sake choices. Must go. Recommended dishes: otoro capraccio, sashimi omakase

오마카세 12피스 먹음! 모듬초밥처럼 한 번에 12피스 다 나옴. 런던에서 먹은 초밥 중에 가장 맛있지만 가성비는 떨어짐 ㅜ 한국 맛있는 초밥집에 2-3만원?4만원?짜리 모듬초밥이랑 퀄리티 비슷함!

Better than we have expected. The food was fresh and fast, had an unique taste. Would definitely go again. The staff were very kind and informative. They bring your check inside a manga book, which was very unique! Haha

Certainly not a chef driven omakase. We just ended up with a platter of 12 nigiri. Not piece by piece with the chef explaining what we were eating. No chef interaction despite being at the counter. Didn’t even realise what we were eating with 12 pieces all plonked in front us. While sushi was good, not really omakase we’re expecting and wouldn’t recommend it.

For me the best japanese restaurant. Everything is perfect from the starter to the desert. Chefs are really talented and loves to explain. Thak you Rodrigo to advice us so well each time. I have been so many times and never regreted it.

Tastes good!! Nice casual restaurant. Small sushi (unevenly cut/shaped 🤣) I would say wasabi/itsu skills are better in terms of the consistency of sushi roll cuts. Seats uncomfortable in the wooden booth downstairs

We had lunch and were unsure of which dishes to choose as we’re fairly new to sushi and wanted to try various dishes. Carl advised us on what to order and we certainly weren’t disappointed, thank you Carl! It’s nice to be able to see the food being prepared if you’re sat upstairs. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. We will definitely return to your lovely restaurant.

Nice little restaurant in Marylebone. Very good sushi. Service is good and fast. We also tried a cocktail and it was a good surprise. A little more expensive than expected, around 80p/ person.

The best sushi and customer service I've had in London. I have enjoyed the night dinner with my friend, highlight of my week. We ordered the 9 piece omakase sushi, which was so delicious - full of flavour, fresh and appreciated the variety of fish, 2 uni sushis which were so smooth, delicate and flavourful - tasted like the ocean, o-toro roll - which just melts in your mouth, the same with the o-toro ceviche with caviar - a rainbow of flavours in one! I will definitely come back many times! The waiter was also very entertaining and made our night unforgettable, it's great to see people taking pride in their job and exceeding expectations.

The food experience here was phenomenon (sushi) and we cannot recommend enough. The set up is very simple and no gimmicks but that’s probably what makes this place memorable. Start with the crab salad wrapped in courgette, delicate balance of the crab and fish roe and vegetables really stand out. You must try the fatty tuna rolls with truffle - for someone who does not like tuna as much it was a sensation. Interesting things about the sushi here is they are all served with a condiment that enhances the flavours and I definitely recommend letting them serve you as they wish! Items that I would probably not go for - wagyu shumai- it was very garlicky and I could taste it for the next two days :) overall this is a place I’d be recommending to all sushi lovers!

I had heard so many good things about Sushi Atelier but sadly was disappointed with their sushi omakase lunch (£33). Fish didn't taste fresh or have a good texture and the sauces overpowered the sushi. It's expensive for what you get. We were sat downstairs which got extremely hot and was very loud as the seats are pretty close together. There are limited vegetarian options. Service charge was automatically added 15% and we struggled to get water refills.

Had some amazing sushi at this place and the whole experience was a delight from start to finish. The whole staff were friendly, engaging and couldn’t have been more hospitable and watching the chefs prepare the food fresh in front of you was a great extra touch. Will definitely be coming here again

The food was tasty, but quite small rolls for the price they have. We only had some bite, did not eat a full dinner and didn’t have drinks, only 1 bear. paid over £70 for 2z Service charge was over 15%.

The pros : great sushi selection (omakase wjth 12 different dishes), some other good dishes. The cons : room downstairs can be quite noisy when restaurant is busy. Service was a bit random, were suggested to take some carpaccio because the mains would take long, but the starter came last. Prices are on the high side
