Quite a disappointing meal. At least 3 types of sashimi we want were out of stock. Staff forgot our starter so it came only after sushi. Even with all the toppings, my frd didn’t get on-the-side wasabi?? It’s not quite legit for a Japanese restaurant so hope just a miss. The red shrimp has to be blanched as the resto’s regulation? I don’t get this as this is a sushi restaurant…. If you don’t serve sashimi grade fish/seafood, it’s not legit. Also way too many toppings for each sushi (my friend’s with topping, mine doesn’t). A legit sushi shouldn’t have fancy topping… it’s basically westernised sushi… and the size of the rice….. staff are also not so much into details and not really helpful..

We ordered two omakase 12 piece sets and there was hair in one of them. The restaurant offered to remake it for us. The sushi was also below average for the price range; sushi rice was not sour enough and fish was average. I couldn’t really taste the fish because there was too much seasoning. Won’t be back.

Probablemente uno de los mejores restaurantes japoneses / sushi en los que he estado. La comida era increíble, especialmente los restaurantes platos especiales de nigiri. Los entrantes fueron igualmente buenos... ve por el carpaccio de pez mantequilla. .

We had a wonderful experience celebrating a Valentine’s Day lunch at Sushi Atelier. Kudos to the team — especially Bruno and Lim who extended such warm hospitality towards us during our visit here. We ordered the Omakase Sushi set which came with 10 pieces of nigiri freshly made in front of you. Our favourites were the butterfish and the prawn! We also had their speciality rolls — the Aburi Butterfish Roll and Avocado and Eel Truffle Roll, which was so delicious! I also love the soy and black sesame dessert, it was so smooth like panna cotta! Special mention to chef Rodrigo who created a lovely scallop and prawn plate for us! I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for authentic Japanese sushi and cuisine in central London!

This is the best sushi that I ever had. Not that I am a connoisseur at all but I have only experience sushi from chain restaurants and the experience is way much better. Lunch Omakase set comes with miso soup and salad. Only thing differs from regular Omakase set is that they serve the entire course in one go (i.e. 10 pieces nigiri in one platter) Definitely worthwhile to try if you don’t mind it. I particularly love the butterfish and scallop with caviar🫦🫦 Used to be cheaper but it’s 36 quids right now.

Came for the 15 pc omakase and wasn't disappointed. The fish was fresh and the restaurant uses interesting toppings to make more ordinary sushi stand out. The tuna and butterfish and the main standouts. Price was reasonable and staff was always attentive to our needs Only small issue is that we were seated at the end of the bar and so we were not able to see our omakase made and plated which usually adds to the experience.

It is truly excellent. The omakase sushi set and sashimi were absolutely amazing—fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with authentic flavors. The staff were very attentive and friendly, which made the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. One standout moment was when we spoke to a Japanese gentleman in a suit, who was incredibly knowledgeable about the fish. When we asked about the seasonal varieties, he effortlessly shared detailed information, which added a nice touch of authenticity and expertise to the experience. The only slight disappointment was that the sea urchins weren’t available this time, but we’re hopeful to try them on our next visit. Despite this, the overall quality of the food and service was outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant—it’s easily one of the best Japanese dining spots in London, offering premium-quality food and a top-tier experience.

Yesterday I had serious stomach trouble due to your stale food. Sushi Atelier is a Japanese restaurant I stumbled upon by chance before. It has a great value-for-money, and the flavors are nice. Both my best friend and I love it; we’re regulars, and we’ve always been satisfied with their omakase, which is affordable too. Feeling a craving today, I decided to book a solo lunch there. I saw they had sea urchin listed on the blackboard, so I splurged on a £10 sea urchin sushi. As soon as it was served, I felt a bit dissatisfied—why wasn’t the nori wrapped perfectly around it? But I didn’t fuss about it. I thought I’d finish my 10 pieces of sushi first, then savor the sea urchin. When I had about four pieces of sushi left, my sea urchin sushi tipped over, so I hurried to pop it into my mouth. As soon as it entered my mouth, I was hit with this indescribable off-flavor combined with a faint fishy taste. I thought maybe it was just a different variety of sea urchin and assumed it was just a bit of that ocean flavor (which I can handle in small amounts). Feeling unsure but not saying anything, I finished my meal and then took the bus to Fortnum & Mason to buy some biscuits. That’s when the nightmare started. As I was browsing after buying some cookies, a sudden wave of abdominal pain hit. I knew this was serious, so I quickly looked for a restroom. After a round of relief, I thought it was over, but soon after, an even stronger pain hit. It was so intense I couldn’t even stand up properly. I was on the lower ground floor near the butcher section and ended up crouching down on the floor. Struggling up the stairs to the first floor, I barely made it to the G floor before I started feeling dizzy and even a bit nauseous. By the time I got to the restroom, I was so desperate that I didn’t even bother lining the seat with tissue before I sat down. Thinking that round would finally fix things, I went back downstairs to buy some meat, but the pain came back again. In desperation, I rushed back to the first floor for another bathroom trip. Feeling weak and utterly exhausted, I finally gave in and splurged on a cab home—from the west to the east, costing me £30! I ended up making three toilet trips!!! Sushi Atelier, how dare you betray me like this! I used to love you so much, and this is how you repay me with this mess? You’re dead to me. UMU too, that Michelin two-star place. Friends, I suggest we all give these Japanese restaurants a capital NO. Can they not serve fresh ingredients to their customers? Do they even have a conscience? Clearly not!

A fantastic little sushi restaurant. For lunch or dinner. Each of chefs selection (Omakasa) sashimi pieces had an actual melt in your mouth quality, that should be taken slowly and savoured for maximum taste. The reception staff, and waiting staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, with attentive service. The chefs were professional, and were visibly pleased to see us not only enjoy the food so much but also take their advice on the order the eat them. The head chef Rodriguez was a star, explaining where the fish and products were sourced from (many different places globally), while preparing the fishes in front of us, so we learnt the cuts and differences in texture and taste. We had great fun chatting to them all, with nice ambient music in the background. The prices were fair for the quality, and we probably over ordered during our stay because it was so good. We finished with the recommended homemade matcha cheesecake which was with only subtle matcha flavour (which suits me as I generally do not like matcha) and it was delicious. Lovely food and people. We will certainly be back.

I recently visited this restaurant, and I was extremely disappointed. They were serving sushi rice straight from a steaming rice cooker—way too hot, as was the sashimi on top. This is far from authentic. The miso soup had no real miso flavor, and the seating was packed, making it noisy and uncomfortable. The environment was uncomfortably warm, too. For £40, it’s definitely not worth it. I’m baffled by the good reviews; it seems like people don’t know what authentic sushi should be. Even Wasabi is better. I won’t be coming back to this british style japanese restaurant. Response: Thank you for your detailed response, but I have to say it feels like we’re over-complicating some very simple observations here. Let’s start with the steam from the rice: steam only occurs at higher temperatures, so unless we’ve entered an alternate universe where physics doesn’t apply, it’s safe to say that the rice was hotter than 37 degrees. If I can see steam, we’re well beyond body temperature—no need for a science experiment here. As for the terminology around “sashimi” and “neta,” I must admit, I didn’t realize we were having a vocabulary quiz. I came to enjoy good food, not to dissect semantics. To the average diner, sashimi is just thinly sliced raw fish, and I think we can all agree that “neta” just refers to whatever is on top of sushi rice. Whether we’re calling it sashimi or neta seems a little irrelevant, especially if the taste and experience are supposed to speak for themselves. Lastly, while £40 per head might seem reasonable in theory, what one expects in terms of quality and attention to detail is what really makes or breaks the value. So perhaps, instead of turning every detail into a lecture, focusing on the overall dining experience might be the way to go.

The sushi & sashimi omakase selections were very fresh and presented beautifully with exceptional service, explaining each piece. The menus do not offer pictures nor use accurate cuts of the fish, so if you have knowledge of the fishes, it’s been labelled quite vaguely. Really good for what it is. For an informal sushi place I'm impressed to see real wasabi root being used. The atmosphere is right—I love sushi places where the counter is the prominent feature. There are also tables available. The menu highlight are their "omakase" selections with options for 6, 9, 12, or 15 pieces. Might technically be more of a moriawase assortment; you get everything on one platter as opposed to a piece-by-piece serving. In any event it's a good assortment of fish and you'll get a variety of flavors. Good place overall, totally worth a shout. I'd say this is particularly worth looking at if you're looking to dip your toes in the water of a broader assortment of nigiri and don't know where to start. The price point is very accessible especially if you start with a small portion.

The quality of the sushi was overall good, and the cocktails were nice, especially the Sweet Tokyo (whisky-based cocktails). It’s hard to find similar sushi quality in London at this price range, but I suggest better control of hygiene. I saw a fly over the sushi (not on our plate) right in front of us, and it seemed the chefs noticed it too, as I believed they did not serve that plate to the client. It would be a good idea to keep the door closed to prevent flies from entering the restaurant.

Good japanese foods however the place is little small and you need to make reservation earlier. The foods can be better in an better price, but the tastes are moderate..

BEST SUSHI CHEF in London, Rodrigo! Service was fast and welcoming! Sushi quality served was the freshest it can be and they really care about giving fresh fish to customers! Price was so worth it compared to other sushi places I went to! Presentation and artwork was on another level! Definitely recommend!

I’ve had different selections of sushi which was all good! But especially tuna, never had it this good, was melting in my mouth , fatty and flavourful. But what really surprised me was the midori sour , beautiful and most importantly tasty! Just wished there was more!

We had an amazing sushi birthday lunch. The omakase is to die for and the uni nigiri just melted in your mouth. The highlight was the waygu tsukune - such wonderful flavours from the waygu and the uni. Thank you to the wonderful sushi chef Rodrigo and his team for making the lunch so special. The food and service was all wonderful. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend.

Fantastic mid-range sushi place in the heart of Fitzrovia. It’s not the cheapest, but the quality is definitely a step up from cheaper Japanese restaurants. The lunchtime 10 piece omakase set was £36 with great quality fish and inventive toppings. A salad and miso soup were also included in the lunch set. Overall a great place and would return again.

I went with frds during weekday evening with reservations!!! Trying their 12 pcs Omakase, it tastes good with relatively budget friendly price segments, a bunch of fish variety, scallops, salmon … it’s worth to try if you like shushi !!!

I'm Japanese that my most favorite food is sushi. Here's sushi was very nice taste. I think so these sushi was used aged fish and various seasoning. It's like fusion on expensive French and expensive Japanese food. Its were new good taste and to taste can't in Japan I'd like to go again. I ordered the lunch menu of 10 pieces of nigiri. It had a very strong fish flavor, and the seasonings on each topping (soy sauce jelly, caviar, orange zuri, etc.) went well together, so all of them were delicious. I enjoyed it as a new and delicious sushi, different from traditional Japanese sushi and the often disappointing overseas sushi. Although the price is not cheap, I would like to go there again.

Sushi Atelier has remained consistently excellent over the past 3 years that I have visited. The service is warm, friendly and helpful. The freshness of the fish and the skill of the sushi chefs is exemplary. Whenever I’m asked where to go for sushi in London, this is the place I recommend for the quality, price point and service.

Absolutely amazing sushi! Probably the best sushi spot in London! The nigiris are out of this world, and their omakase experience tops anything I've tried before. Incredible value for the high-grade quality of fish they serve. The chef even surprised us with a special tuna nigiri, highlighting their exceptional service.

Great sushi! As sushi lovers I fully recommend this place! If you come here and get basic rolls you won’t be wowed and you are missing the point. The al le carte side with individual Sushi and sashimi prices /omakazi is great. Yes it’s gonna run you about $100/person if you do it right..but this sushi is fantastic!

We had lunch there today with our six year old, who now 4,5h later is suffering from food poisoning. When I called to advise them about this I was informed that food poisoning takes 6 hours to develop (that's the advice for adults on the NHS site) and it was suggested that it is was the breakfast we gave him at home that's making him sick. He has vomited twice so far and and has other symptoms as well. He ate edamame beans and eel nigiri. I'll leave it to the reader to make their minds up on this, in case they are thinking of taking their kids there. Not going to add a picture of the vomit, but it doesn't look like his breakfast.

It is a nice sushi restaurant, but to be paying higher than average price, I would have expected a much better taste. Favourite dishes were pan-fried prawns and the matcha cheesecake, but the sushi rolls were overall a bit bland and not that special. Service was very good and attentive, but the place is basic.

This is one of the best sushi places in London. Their menu is unique and goes beyond the usual sushi you find everywhere. The ingredients are fresh. Must have - SPICY TUNA ROLL!! (It was so good I forgot to take a pic). The seared tuna sushi (pic) was also amazing!!

Went here in May 2024 with my boyfriend for our anniversary and wow. It was absolutely amazing. The interior was so cool, staff were extremely friendly and helped with recommending things for us, and the food and drinks were UNREAL. My favorite was the dragon roll, it was the best I’ve ever had in my life and I can’t stop thinking about it. Every single food and drink we ordered just blew me away and I can’t wait to come back here. Staff, food, vibes 100/10
