Good food and service. Close to the hotel. Must have been good as taken by colleagues who'd visited the previous night. For the UK good value for money & decent portions. Certainly a welcome change from the average and all prepared just for you. I'd certainly go back.

Enjoyed a great selection of food brought to the table on two separate platters for each couple. It was a mixture of meat and vegetables cooked just right and not oily. In addition separate salad and bread. It was very tasty and lightly spiced with two spicier dips in separate bowls. We also had wine Lebanese red and white amongst choices plus draught beer. We ended with baclava sweets and I had coffee. The restaurant is spotlessly clean in a really calming environment on busy Morrisons Street. It is tastefully decorated complimented with the music making a very enjoyable place to eat.

I live deep in the country where eating Middle Eastern food isn't an option without driving for almost 2hrs, so while in Edinburgh, made the most of it. Lovely little place, quite central, and the food was of high quality. Generally I judge a Middle Eastern restaurant on the quality of its hummus, and this was really tasty. The options for mains are good, and was glad in what I chose (dawood basha). Will certainly be returning when I come back to the city. Belly is very happy right now!

We've been here twice this year and both times had such beautiful food. Best mid-eastern restaurant in Edinburgh for sure. Service is also fantastic - so welcoming and very accommodating for any allergies (mine is mushrooms...which can appear in the most unlikely of dishes when you eat out, but here the staff were great at ensuring there were none). Started with a hearty and lovely mixed starter served perfectly with nan bread freshly cooked in their clay oven. We all had various main courses but mainly kebabs. I had the mixed bbq which was a combination of perfectly cooked chicken and lamb served with rice, salad, bread and a side of aubergine sauce. All of us enjoyed our meal very much and we even had some space left for tea and fresh baclava. Will definately recommend and will be back.

First time visit for all of us and it was very good. It is one of those menus where you can't decide what to have as they all sound great. All of our choices were great and delivered what we had guessed they would. A really interesting mix of spices in the dishes. We had a hot sharing platter to start with that set the tone for the food, really interesting with some unexpected twists. All the mains we had disappeared very fast as we enjoyed them. The lamb was cooked to perfection soft and juicy.

We ate at this restuarant on Saturday evening and it was a terrible experience. The building is nice and the waiter was pleasant although the order was written down incorrectly meaning one of our group had to ate later than the other 5. The group all ate different dishes all of which were absolutely without flavour ! Our friend who was served late got a piece of lamb dropped on some boiled rice, like the other meals it was totally without flavour. If they were rushed off their feet this might have been a mitigation but the place was empty. At these prices for such poor quality I can understand how it was empty.

After reading many good reviews we decided to eat here yesterday and were not impressed. The moment I saw the microwave being used my concerns began. I had ordered homemade Kurdish flatbread which turned out to be multipack wraps which were heated in a George Foreman grill. The hummus was tasteless The rice and bulgar wheat on the main course was freezing cold, The mixed grill was cold and over cooked therefore tough. When the waiter appeared after 10mins to check we told him it was cold. He offered to reheat it. Because it was already overcooked we declined his offer and left having decided we would not return. The waiter was pleasant enough and we did leave a tip because the food quality was not his fault. We enjoy good food and in particular middle eastern food. In our opinion the best so far is The Beirut Lounge in Byker,Newcastle which is 10 out of 10. This one is a 1 and that's for décor and the nice waiter. Do not eat here if you like quality food.

We went to Rojava at the request of our son to celebrate his 21st birthday. I am not well acquainted with Kurdish/Lebanese food so was looking forward to something a little different. On arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to our table and given menu's, which needed a little guidance for a couple of items which were explained to us by our server. Once our food was ordered it arrived fairly quickly and seemed to have been freshly prepared for all courses. The food was splendid but I would have preferred it to be a bit hotter in temperature - very tasty all the same tho. Prices for food and wine are not expensive and therefore great value for money. A nice surprise was that our server must have realised it was our son's Birthday and arrived at the end with cake and a candle for us to sing Birthday wishes to him - an nice and welcome touch.

There is no kids menu but the chef had no trouble in making up an off-menu selection for their main meals (we had chicken shish, humus, chips, rice, nan) and they loved it. The portion sizes were large and you could taste all the different flavours. It was a relaxed atmosphere and we weren’t rushed at any time. The price of food and drink was very reasonable. I went to rojava the week when they first opened and it was clear then that they still needed to settle in. However what was evident then was a generosity of spirit and a desire to make their guests feel welcome (despite all the teething problems at front of house and in the kitchen). I decided to give them time to bed in before returning. This time I went with my family. That welcoming feeling was sadly gone - we were being rushed by the presumably manager to make sure that the table was available at 20:30 from a 19:00 booking. Understandable if the place was busy but aside from us there was only one table there and when we left at 20:40 - the place was empty. Odd! Now to the food - humus and babaganoush both had a tinned taste and shop bought stale pita bread - seriously! After a long wait we got huge portions of bulgur wheat dwarfing our grilled chicken kebabs which were over cooked, cold and lacked flavour. Lamb chops were dry. And remember the place was virtually empty. We decided against dessert. Poor value for money too. They are obviously cutting corners and I anticipate they won’t be around for much longer if they continue like this.

I've been here a few times and normally eschew the lunch menu and go straight to the wider choice. This time, however I thought I'd try the more humble lunch menu. I started with a soup - nice, warming, subtly flavoured and supplied with a lot of unleavened bread. Very nice on a cold January day. Followed this with a lamb shish meal. Nicely flavoured lamb pieces, bulgur and rice, some side salad. The two dips - hot one and a cucumber with yoghurt one were nice too. Whole meal was filling. Flavoursome and a good lunch. I didn't bother with coffee or dessert therefore paid for their 2-course lunch option. As before, I was the only customer. When I entered, just me and the chef. Later, a couple of customers appeared. The food is good and not expensive. I would expect it to be much more popular during lunchtime. However chef gave service cheerily so perhaps they make their money at other times of the day. I'll visit again. Probably go back to the larger menu simply for more choice.

Came here for lunch at the end of December. Restaurant was very quiet but the food was excellent. The hummus with flat bread & accompanying dips were very good to start. We then shared the barbecue for two. A pleasant combination of rice & bulgar wheat with the mixed kebab & salad. The Kurdish tea to accompany the baclava was the only disappointment, as I wasn’t expecting Earl Grey. Perhaps mint or peppermint would have been more appropriate accompaniment. Last time I visited with my friends that was fabulous. Again I visited on weekend in busy time still nothing to complain than say excellent. Recommended to all to get warm welcoming from staff & great Kurdish food ever.

Hard to believe this place is still surviving in my city. I've always lived in Edinburgh and never seen a worst place than this. Horrible service, extremely rude staff...long waiting, no manners to speak to a woman...hardly speak proper English. Racist people

We were brought here by others who have first hand, in country experience with Middle Eastern food. It was excellent. The meats were tender and everything was flavorful. One of those meals where everyone was oohing and aahing over the different plates on the table.

Inspite of the uninspiring decor we had an excellent evening. Try the Kurdish yoghurt drink. The Rojava casserole is to be recommended. Delicious spinach starter.

Usually when I come here, I'm the only customer. I've therefore previously had personal service from the chef. This time, there were two other customers, however there was also more staff too. So all good. Its a Kurdish and Lebanese restaurant but the dishes work across the middle east. I was given the lunch menu which looked OK but I fancied the larger menu. I ordered Baba Ghannoush (which was also on the lunch menu) then Lamb Shish with okra as the optional side. Starter was good, warm with lovely just made bread and some additional dips. I've had better baba ghannoush but this was good too. Main course was superb. Amazingly soft and flavourful lamb. Rice and bulghur wheat with peppers and onions on the side. All superb. I didn't get extra bread - which was OK - but I presumed they refill the basket. Food was hot from the oven, delicious, looked and tasted great. For example: half a tomato grilled. How good could that be? This one was great. Don't know how they did that to a simple half tomato? I was full to the brim so didn't have dessert or coffee although I'm sure they'd have been good too. I'll be here again and you should come too.

The staff are very nice and service good but the food was a little bland. The menu sounded interesting but the flavours and spices did not come through when presented with the dishes The best thing were the mezze sharing starter platters

Very hard to see how this place has had good reviews in the past. We had a voucher via Itison, but had seen good reviews on this site. I don’t like leaving poor reviews, but this was one of the worst restaurants I have experienced in Edinburgh. From the outside the signage looks cheap and unappealing which continued its theme inside. We ordered one of the 3 white wines on offer. It was dreadful and we couldn’t finish it. Food was uninspiring and the starters were on the table so quickly that they couldn’t have been made freshly. Mains were served with rice and more rice, no vegetables. And with an indoor barbecue we left stinking of smoke, although there was a time where we thought breathing apparatus may be needed! Time to wash all our clothes including coats! Just a really disappointing experience from start to finish.

We enjoyed dinner twice during our stay in Edinburgh. The roasted chicken was delicious and the feta salad was tasty enough that we ordered it again the next time we were there. We enjoyed the slow roasted lamb shank that time at Sofia’s. We also their sticky toffee pudding for dessert which we were told was made with dates… it was scrumptious!! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Sadly very disappointing experience this time, we order form the place quite often. It used to be our favourite Indian takeaway in Edinburgh. In our last order some items were missing and some were wrong, way smaller portions compared to the previous ones and just not the food delivery quality we were used to, especially given the price.
