Rock Salt in North Somerset

We enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch with beautifully cooked pan fried chicken and wonderful fresh vegetables. A generous helping too with tasty gravy to accompany it all. A great selection of desserts are on offer. Value for money too. Compliments to the chef (Chris?) you won’t be disappointed but May need to book as it’s obviously popular - and we can see why!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch when I visited this evening . I had the pork lion it was beautiful it was a huge portion with a lovely selection of veg :) service was quick and all staff were friendly. My partner had a kids meal as he wasn’t too hungry and this was a really good sized portion would recommend food here :)

Lovely friendly staff, food was exceptional. We had evening meal, starter was beef short rib and whitebait mains we had ribeye steak and beef brisket. We also had breakfast which was lovely.

We visited Rock Salt for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant was not busy despite being a bank holiday. The interior is decorated in a rustic seaside theme with condiments and utensils sat on the table in wooden boxes. We went to order the Pig sharer plate for starters only to be told it was now off the menu. This is always frustrating because we had been at the table for 20 minutes choosing our dishes and this wasn't highlighted when we were given the menu. It also puts you on the spot to choose an alternative. Our staters were served very quickly so we asked if we could have a 10 - 15 minute pause before we had our mains. I had chosen steak with the Caesar Salad. The steak was stone cold when it arrived. I pointed this out to the waiter who was very polite and returned it to the kitchen. I was the served with another steak which cooked perfectly however the time I received the this my wife had finished her meal. The waiter said I wouldn't be charged for the steak. My wife had the battered hake for her main which was excellent. We also noticed that there was a small 'specials' chalk board sat on an adjacent table which was not offered to us? The young waiter was very friendly but probably lacked a bit of training from the manager. When we booked the table the performa asked if it was a special occasion? I put down that it was our wedding anniversary. There was no mention of this when we arrived at the restaurant? Why put this on your reservation details if you are going to ignore this? We were not looking for anything special but just a 'happy anniversary' welcome would have been nice.

Had two meals whilst we stayed at the hotel, all meals were very well prepared with fresh ingredients and were very tasty and good value for money. Staff were lovely, and made sure we had everything we wanted

Came here by accident as the fish and chip place nearby was shut and we were blown away! The food was delicious, well presented, great menu and great staff. The place is decorated nicely, and felt quite upmarket. We ordered far too much but because the menu was so good. Very good value for money we will be back

The food as always very good, the staff as always were friendly. However I was overcharged by £22.50 unfortunately I didn’t notice until after I paid, but I noticed before I went left, expecting an apology the initial response was do I want refund? I was asked to put card back in machine for the refund, however when I looked at my bank account a few days later, I noticed they hadn’t issued a refund instead they had charged me an extra £22.50. I phoned them and they were apologetic and refunded £45, considering what they had done I thought they should have made a goodwill gesture. I was told the management would phone me, unfortunately they never did.

We were rather disappointed with our latest experience at this restaurant. Good service, but pretty average food, and I was disappointed with the crab cakes which were lacking in taste and rather rubbery. My Pan Fried Hake with roast potatoes was served in a breakfast type bowl which left the roast potatoes soggy. One of my guests Cider Battered Hake, had too much batter and very little fish. I don't mind paying top price for restaurant food but at £130 for 4 I thought this was poor value.

This was my first time back at this location since it was taken over under the new name. It was excellent. Completely refurbished inside and is now modern and welcoming. Staff were all pleasant and professional. The food from the nibbles, starters through to main course and desert was outstanding and best I have sampled in the North Somerset area. Superb and good value for money. I will be back and am already looking forward to dinner in a few days time. Well done everyone. Annette Hennessy

We popped in for lunch today, and chose a Seafood Sharing Platter. I wish we'd chosen something else from what looked like a pretty comprehensive menu. The cured trout and crab meat were sadly missing from our platter, whilst the replacement whitebait was overcooked and the replacement salmon fatty and greasy. The side portion of triple cooked beef dripping chips were simply inedible, cooked to within an inch of their lives, and looked like they had been left over from the previous evening. So we won't have that again.

Excellent fresh fish snd chips with a posh twist, and gluten free for thos with an intolerance or allergy. Stunning good, my go to local and 10/10 every time. Food and service always friendly and welcoming. Dogs allowed and always offering complimentary treats, so accommodating in every way. You won't be disappointed.

The staff were excellent, could not do enough for you 5 stars , food and drink very nice , we were staying in the hotel so had breakfast also, and it was very very good,choice and service top class, at night sit outside for stunning sunsets

Great spot lovely atmosphere, really good food, portions and taste were 10/10 and great service. We were really pleasantly suprised and will definitely be back again, nothing to fault loved it all.

We had booked online at The Bay restaurant, and even got a confirmation. But on arrival they had no knowledge of it, and said their Bay restaurant had been closed for months, but we could eat a Sunday lunch in the bar restaurant Rocksalt. So we all had roast dinners there. They were all only lukewarm, and tasted like all the elements had been cooked beforehand and just warmed up. Very poor, especially for £18 a plate. We commented to the waiting staff about the lukewarm food, but no response from those in charge. We won't be back.

Although I've eaten at Rock Salt in the last year or so and knew it to be very good, even I was suprised at the surprisingly novel, yet extremely tasty menu. It seems that their chef is but a young lad, but he's clearly got a future ahead of him. I had the special, strips of chicken with a spiced sauce and tangy mayo. The combination of flavours was a delight - I can't remember when I last ate something so left field yet so good. Clear, bright and with service that was timely - yet let us get on with the real business of tucking in. Shame it's a long way for us to travel but when I'm back in the area I'll certainly be eating here again.

We called into the restaurant/bar planning on a light-bite lunch. It was late lunch time on a day when the weather was far from nice outside so the bar was quiet, but the welcome was warmth itself. The two young gentlemen who were serving were everything that top class serving staff should be - friendly, polite, knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. Then the food arrived! Oh my, what a feast, generous portions of well cooked, tasty food - this was a quality that I would have expected at a top flight hotel. Add it a lovely pint of bitter that was right right temperature wise and - as the title said, the meal became a feast!

I’ve eaten fish and chips for 70 plus years in America, Spain and the UK all over. I concede I’ve not dined in Michelin starred restaurants but last evening I tasted fish batter to a standard I’ve never encountered. I’m not a gourmet but it would have been sacrilege to have pit salt or vinegar on that hake encased in a batter which had no taste of fat. Crisp beer batter cooked in heaven. The chips were of a very high standard but I can’t rave enough about that batter. I’m staying at the hotel for three more nights. It’s going to be a struggle not to order the same main every night.

Visited with my husband last week for an early dinner. We were the only customers there on arrival so a little surprised but as we leaving there was a couple more tables occupied. The food is a little pricy but you are paying for quality. My husband had a steak and I had a lobster roll, both were delicious and cooked to perfection. Also had an incredible dessert of lemon posset and even the wine was delicious. The staff were polite and attentive. We will definitely be back but due to the pricing it will be more for special occasions.

We ate here whilst staying at the attached South Sands Hotel. Nice atmosphere and excellent food at a fair price. We had the Seafood platter to share which was varied, fresh and wholesome. The restaurant was busy and the staff were stretched but the food came quickly however we had to seek out the staff to place our orders

I can’t remember how much we paid but I’m sure it was £11! Absolutely awful The place itself and the surrounding areas was lovely but won’t be returning The first picture was from rock salt and the second picture was a breakfast from another place in Weston the following Saturday that was only £6.40

I ordered the vegetarian option, a sweet potato, Stilton, mushroom and spinach Wellington and was given a Mediterranean pie with tomatoes and olives which I couldn’t eat as i don’t like the tomato and olive taste. Twice I asked if I’d been given something different and twice i was told no. When we had the menu back for desserts I could see quite clearly I hadn’t had what I asked for. I asked the server a 3rd time and after going to the kitchen to check again, I was told that I had been given something different and that the manager was dealing with it. Then I didn’t hear back. From the server or the manager. We were given and paid a full bill with no explanation as to why I had a meal I didn’t order and couldn’t eat. Very disappointing customer service. I was at a family reunion and didn’t want to cause a fuss…. But I have had to review to say how disappointed I am with this customer service. I accept mistakes happen, but to lie twice about what I was given and for the manager not to address is quite frankly not on.

This lovely dog friendly restaurant is well worth a visit. The cauliflower crumbled starter was amazing. The fish and chips so fresh. Overlooking the beach. Lovely friendly staff. Only complaint, I couldn't finish my delicious meal as the portions were so big . Lovely restaurant.

My wife and I came here to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary and absolutely loved it. The food was so good, the steak I had was gorgeous! My wife's fishcakes were lovely too apparently, deeply filled with fishy goodness very tasty. We will most definitely...

Went because it was dog friendly ,decor is nice staff nice however the price and quality of food poor ,had ribeye steak asked if I want sauce opted for Stilton ,it’s classed as a side £3 extra! Steak arrived over seasoned chips a joke barely...
