ROCK INN - TOCKHOLES in Blackburn with Darwen

Just had lunch here today first visit the food was lovely and the staff as well made us feel very welcome we don't live over that way but have family 15mins away so looked it up on Google maps and would definitely recommend it! If there was one complaint it would of been about the weather because it spoil the views from the pub and beer garden. 😂

Calm and cozy atmosphere, we came on a Sunday and was very busy, nice and warm, everyone was having food we had two chicken dinners and a beef, they did not disappoint never been out for a Sunday dinner and had flavours like this pub will 100% be back again not tight with portion size either would definitely recommend 10/10 from us! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We hadn’t visited The Rock since it changed hands and didn’t know what to expect. The food was excellent (chips were fantastic), dessert was divine and service was great too, attentive staff. We should have visited sooner!

We were greeted by a lovely,polite young man,quite a simple menu but not over facing,the food we had was very good the prices are reasonable and the quaint old pub has kept it's character,we sat next to the log fire and could have stayed all day.The owner chatted to us as this is quite a new venture for him,nice guy,nothing to much trouble,we will return.

Me and my mate are here today, the food was impeccable, I had the slow cooked beef joint and honestly I’d trade my mate for it again 🤣 presentation was fantastic too, well impressed, definitely goin back there soon

Booked a table for 4, we were taken to our table in the restaurant and struggled to get into our chairs, the table was cramped in the corner. We were sat very close to the couple next to us. It wasn’t very comfortable. I ordered grilled chicken kebab which was really nice, our friends had fish and chips which was ok but my husband got steak pie, which was not homemade and very thick pastry and fatty meat, so was not eaten. When asked if the food was ok, we explained about the steak pie and was laughed at, took the plates and cutlery and left. The staff were attentive but needed training in a lot of areas. The Rock is a nice place and good atmosphere, it’s a shame about our experience with the meal, we won’t be returning.

Re visited The Rock Inn on Sunday. Wow 👌 the food is delicious 😋 everyone really enjoyed their meals. My father in law can find fault in anything and he gave it 10/10. I had the rag pudding oh my god it was amazing. My husband had the ham hock which just fell off the bone. Everything was exceptionally good. Highly recommend lovely cosy country pub. Next time I'll save room for dessert as they looked unreal.

I go here regularly when I have a free 30 mins before picking up my children from the local school in Tockholes. Recently taken over and the service is outstanding, nothing is too much for them. Clean, good beers and open most of the time.

First time we have been. Very impressed with the food. Staff were very good and very attentive. Your staff put a lot of very expensive restaurant staff to shame. We will be back again

Amazing country pub - get out for a walk with your family and doggies, then finish off at the Rock - been there since 1794 so they must be doing something right!!

What a pub, prifes are good, food is top

Lovely experience. The homemade soup was gorgeous - homemade mushroom & crusty bread on the side. The sandwich was lovely too - side salad & chips to die for BUT the bread was far too much. Really good quality filling (I had the ham) - please consider going for much thinner bread (it was bread overload). Perhaps consider doing a soup & sandwich deal with a smaller portion of soup & perhaps half of a sandwich. Will definitely return - warm welcome & food on the whole spot on & at a reasonable price

Amazing little village pub. The food was fantastic and Jo and Matt were so accommodating. It was very busy which speaks volumes and the service was spot on!

First visit here. Got there early and ordered two club sandwiches about 12.05pm. Arrived within ten minutes to our outside table from which you can see spectacular views. The chips are to die as was the sandwich and salad was first class from taste to presentation. Will definitely be going back and highly recommended a visit. 👻

I had the pleasure of visiting the Rock Inn last Friday while travelling through Tockholes for work. After parking and walking through the doors to the bar, I was greeted with a welcoming smile from the landlord, Matt, who I later found out had just taken over the premises that week. The sunshine was out, so I enjoyed a few pints and some food (recommend the Chicken Burgers) on the terrace at the back, which boasts absolutely beautiful views and neighbouring wildlife. The service and atmosphere were fantastic, and I will definitely be returning, bringing along family and friends in the near future. I look forward to trying more items on the new menu. Seems a good pub. The Thwaites best bitter was very nice. There's seating outside at the front and back and a large car park. Some great views from here too.

This is my local, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The food is delicious, the staff are amazing, the owners are great, and all of this in one of the friendliest villages in the country. Plus I only have to walk a couple of hundred yards from my cottage. Win Win 🤣

We visited around a week ago, the food here was very nice and the views from the back windows are amazing. I did find the real ale choice a little disappointing with just 2 Thwaites ales on draught (The Royal has much more choice) and I will say if you choose to try the apple pie its a little on the small size!

Lovely pub but unfortunately we chose the Sunday Roast which at £15 ahead you would expect the description to reflect the food delivered. The food came swimming in bisto gravy, there was 2 roasts, four extremely small, broken slices of dauphinois potatoes, 1 tiny piece of cauliflower, a handful of green beans and slices of carrots, a frozen Yorkshire pudding and some slices of beef . My partner had lumps of chicken not slices. I couldn’t taste the food when eating it and given it was Mother’s Day I was so disappointed for my partner who wanted the day to be perfect. I just can’t understand how the latter represented £15 , my only regret is not taking a picture of the food and not expressing my displeasure. I was annoyed, upset and shocked that the restaurant would serve this food. There are restaurants/pubs delivering a higher quality of food in the surrounding areas that represent the price tag. Fresh produce, homemade Yorkshire puddings and come to the table cooked, hot and the gravy in a gravy boat not poured all over your food! Other food being offered appeared to be better as the kids food was enjoyed and looked lovely. Just avoid the Sunday Roast !

A welcoming atmosphere. Comfortable seating area by the windows at the back….i can imagine the views on a clear day however we turned up after sunset. Pleasant vibe and well informed of the specials menu by Zoe. Zoe and her daughter were amazing. Yes this is a family run establishment so you won’t be disappointed. Great food, great service and lots of smiles.

Proper countryside pub, set in the Lancashire Hill Country with superb views! A very warm welcome from staff and 4 well kept pints of real ale soon served. Order for food taken and served with a smile and in good time, lamb kebabs with flat bread and salad, along with Salt n pepper fries, very tasty and filling after our dampish walk around Ryal Fold and Sunnyhurst Woods! Highly recommended and most certainly will return!

Called in after a short walk to be welcomed by a warm friendly greeting from Zoe reflecting the cosy ambience of the pub . There were seven of us including my three grandchildren and we all enjoyed the delicious food on offer . Today was my first experience visiting Rock Inn Tockholes. Enjoyable from first leaving a message with quick response booking a table. To our warm welcome on arrival quickly making us comfortable at our chosen table. The menu and helpful information gave ample choice off the most enjoyable meal. Compliments to everyone who made this not only enjoyable but special and most memorable. When next returning to England shall definitely look forward to more time visiting Rock Inn Tockholes. Was lovely to meet Vass, Zoe and the staff. Can’t believe we’ve visited the area of Cyprus so close to Vass’s hometown near Pernera. Anyway, the food was delicious & the staff fantastic. I think they appreciated us stacking up the finished plates after each course (it’s rude not to!). We definitely will be revisiting in the not too distant future 🍴

What a lovely lunch. The welcome was warm and both the restaurant and bar areas were bustling. Service was friendly and efficient. Three of us had different dishes and every one was delicious. The homemade lasagne was very tasty and dad thoroughly enjoyed his fish and chips. Homemade apple crumble and custard was perfect for a cold autumn afternoon. This was our first visit since the change of ownership but certainly won't be our last. Highly recommended.

I couldn't recommend this place enough and for me I think this is going to be a new regular place for me and my family. Also great for a little snack on a walk with the dog as the pub is dog friendly.

Sorry to say but we both were a bit disappointed with our Veggie Delight on Sunday. Both were served with a single small roast potatoe, the dauphinois potatoes were missing and we were told people didn’t want them because the meal was served with gravy but thankfully we were given some and we thought the pie was microwaved as the pastry was soft and not crispy? Everything else was good though.

Very lovely home cooked food with dinner dishes of Cypriot influence and others more typical pub food. Cooked well and there's always a warm welcome. Recommended

Went to the rock tonight for the first time this evening and I have to say it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and good value for money. They did run out of roastie but we were given complimentary bowls of chips. The staff were super friendly. It was very busy and the atmosphere was was brilliant. We will definitely be going back

Fantastic pizzas - the gluten free base is a brilliant taste, just like a traditional base, and at no extra cost. Fresh (tasty) ingredients, lovely service and a great price for a family meal

We enjoyed our meal and bottle of wine. Prices were very fair. We were celebrating our 49th Wedding Anniversary. The owner came to speak to us, and we enjoyed the chat and banter. Would definitely go back again. Service was great and waitress was very polite and helpful.

A real treat just popping into The Rock tonight. Great atmosphere, superb food and such friendly and efficient staff. Will certainly be back. Also just £35 for 2 excellent meals and 1 pints.

Lovely pub, great ambience, had higher expectations over the food due to recommendations. Not much of a selection for me, but I understand a menu cannot be too extensive otherwise you are a master of none, however I have to point out the cost for your sirloin steak which comes with potatoes and veg £20.90, 3 opted for chips instead of boiled potatoes, but then when I questioned where the veg was, it was pointed out you either get potaotes and veg or chips with no veg. Then Maddie advised that as they wanted chips, which were frozen, not homemade, we would have to pay an additional 1.50 for the veg. I advised that the board could be misconstrued and said maybe clarity on the steak could be made, after all potatoes could be mashed, boiled, roasted or chipped, but that didn't matter we still were not getting any veg. The steak was cooked well, a little thin for the money, the peppercorn sauce was too watery and to serve an expensive dish with frozen chips, my 3 guests were a little disappointed. I on the otherhand did like your soup. We all had a dessert to finish off the meal as it was a birthday celebration. Please don't get me wrong the food was cooked well, but at £90 for four people, we all felt it wasn't good value for money.

Just a quick post saying how great the staff were last night. Blackburn Road Runners used the pub as a base for a run and 35 plus diners came back and all of us had a great meal, great service and a fab welcome. We would recommend the pub to eat and the views are good, and there are good walks nearby. Thank you, we will be returning.

My sister’s fella held a fell race event from this pub last week and it was excellent! The staff working there were super friendly and helpful, the food was all excellent and the venue is lovely with a beautiful view. Highly recommend the place for a drink, food and if you need somewhere to hold an event.

Cannot find a single fault. Lovely staff, beautiful setting, incredible food. Felt at ease even with a 5 and a 4 year old. We will certainly be back.

Called in Fri teatime. It was quite empty at the time. Quite disappointed with the food. The onion rings weren't nice, frozen ones not crispy ones like the menu said they were. The souvlaki was OK apart from the pitta bread having been drowned in oil, which they did change but left the oil on the plate. Partners chips weren't cooked through, still hard, again they were changed when it was mentioned. The 2nd lot were slightly better. Very surprised an independent pub which cooks fresh has frozen chips and onion rings. Be much nicer if they were home made. Seems to be a nice pub for a drink and a get together. Not sure I'd return for food.

Food a little disappointing frozen chips that were under cooked sent them back got some others which were better but not by much frozen processed onion rings Could easily have a higher rating if these were home made instead of frozen! Staff and service was excellent
