Best brewery tour with the best tour guide. Gary is incredibly knowledgeable while being very entertaining and engaging. Very sad that the old brewery is closing but this company has a great heritage of investing in the future while being mindful of their history. I’m also delighted to hear that the shire horses will continue their work after moving to the new brewery site.

Decided to go since the brewery is moving shortly. Lovely tour of the brewery, Gary our guide was very knowledgeable. We’ve done a few brewery tours previously and this was as good as the others. Our only disappointment was the Arden Arms after Gary informed us they had 4 Robinson brews on all the time, we were told when we went to spend our bottle top tokens that Unicorn & Dizzy Blonde had both run out….. very odd since the brewery is a 5 minute walk away. Ended up with Trooper, which was nice but would have liked to have had a choice.

The best brewery tour I have ever done. I have done a few over the last 40 years and this couldn’t be beaten. Easily found in centre of Stockport. Started promptly at 1.30 pm. Gary the tour guide was instantly likeable and friendly. Gave out his vast knowledge in a way that kept you interested, amused and wanting more. The tour was an hour and a bit then on to the Arden Arms pub for the free beer. Cost of £10 for tour and a pint or 2 halves of different ales. Beer was excellent . We even went to see the two Shire horses kept for publicity and breeding purposes. Robinsons really look after you.

I recommend this trip to anyone with an interest in real ale, the brewing industry and/or local history.

The Visitor Centre is a great place for learning all abut the history of Robinson's Brewery with many photographs, artefacts, and informative captions and plaques. We also did the Brewery tour with our guide Gary, who was amazingly knowledgeable and explained thoroughly all the processes in brewing beer and showed us round the whole sequence of events in a brew. Fantastic value at £10 each, the tour lasts about 90 minutes depending on how many questions you ask him - we asked a lot! There are a lot of stairs to climb but it is all worth it if your fitness is reasonable. You also get a couple of tokens which can be exchanged for a bottle of beer from the shop or a couple of halves from the local Robison's pub The Arden Arms, a short walk away. Excellent visit!!!!

Had a great guided tour around the brewery in Apsley St Stockport. Gary our host explained the long history of Robinsons brewery and went through the tour, explained the whole brewing process and all of the different names for the products and machined used. It was warm inside the brewery but you can leave your coats and bags in the visitor centre. The tour was followed by a visit to a local hostelry selling the delightful beers. There are a large number of stairs involved in the tour. A very quick visit to see the Shire horses that the brewery uses for special events/shows was nice as well Many thanks to Gary the host for making the tour fun and informative

Excellent tour round Robinsons Brewery a Stockport icon. I can remember as a small child the wonderful smells that covered the market area when beer was being brewed, Our tour guide Gary, was entertaining and knowledgeable , explaining the long and extremely complicated brewing process ,the ingredients needed to make the "perfect" brew and the history of the Robinson family. The tour is taken in the old building which retains the original equipment alongside the brand new all shiny steel vats, the original copper vats are immense , the process of cleaning them must have been a difficult job, no Health and Safety then !Unfortunately the cafe is now closed, but plenty of eating places nearby.

We visited Robinsons Visitors Centre today. A great tour covering the history and development of a Family run historic brewery using natural water from their own 600 foot well, rescuing failing breweries and rocking beer around the world. They even took the roof off to make the process more efficient. You may even get to meet their award-winning Shire Horses, now considered a rare and endangered breed, so Robinsons are now a successful Shire Horse breeder helping to rescue the breed. You will need to take the tour to find out all the details but do this soon as the centre will be closing soon. So, get along and see for yourself. Gary provided a great tour, certainly knows the recipe for success and a bargain at just £10, included in that you get two tokens which you can either trade in for 2 half pints (or a Pint) in the pub down the road or exchange for a bottle of one of their famous brews to enjoy at home. Due to the impact of Covid the restaurant is closed but plenty of options close by for a snack.

As a birthday present we went on the Robinson’s brewery tour this morning. Our guide Gary was so knowledgeable and friendly. The hour or so flew past. The shame is that in 5 years time it will be gone. We met one of the working shire horses who wasn’t very impressed with us. I would recommend this to anyone as a present or just spending time with friends or family and learning about the past, present and future.

For the price of £10 you get a guided tour of the brewery and the opportunity to sample the beers in a local pub included (2 half pints or 1 pint **). Gary our guide was extremely knowledgeable and went at a easy pace and answered questions as we went along. What was explained as we went along was the history of the company and the way it was modernised in 2012. ** If you are driving the voucher can be exchanged for a bottle for later consumption. The visit to see the shire horses at the end was a fitting end to a informative tour Visit this Brewery soon as its not going to be open for ever. After that we went to the Arden Arms for the included beer as the onsite Unicorn Bar hasn't reopened and very friendly staff. One minor word of warning the brewery is quite hot inside, which we were warned about, so make sure any coats etc are left in reception as otherwise you will be pealing off during the tour.

Tour was easy to organise and reasonably priced (£10 including two free half pints). The tour guide Gary was excellent, super knowledgeable (wasn't phased by ANY questions!), well paced and engaging. Visitor centre at the start/end of the trip was a bright and warm space, full of interesting information on the history of Robinsons Brewery. Brewery bar wasn't open, so visitors were given the option of a sponsored visit ti a local bar or a take-away bottle. The visit to see the Shire horses stabled at the brewery was a wonderful bonus. I booked a brewery tour (gold package) at Robinsons Brewery in Stockport for my husband as part of his Christmas present. The price was very reasonable and the brewery itself is within easy walking distance of Stockport town centre. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and did not wait long for our tour guide to collect us. The tour itself was very informative not only about the brewing process, how it has/hasn't changed over the years but also about the family who have owned the company from its beginnings to today. Our tour guide, Gary, was courteous, entertaining and was able to answer our questions. At the end of the tour we got to sample any of the beers (very tasty!) As we had the Gold package, we got a beer goody bag too. There is a gift shop in the reception area (to buy alcohol plus a selection of souvenirs) but there is absolutely no pressure to buy anything. Visited again - [came last January too] to get the New Year off to a good start and this visit was even better than last years :). Our guide Gary was both equally passionate and well informed about both beer [always a good thing] and the Robinson's family and its great history. His style was very relaxed and amply punctuated with good humour and anecdotes - well done Gary , added to a great day, thank you. As stated this it was a great start to the New Year - both my mate and I thoroughly enjoyed the beer - especially the Old Tom [my favourite ale, bar none] and lunch in the relaxed restaurant was very reasonably priced , well presented and scrumptious. The young lady and gentleman who were serving behind the bar were both very charming and helpful - over all a fabulous day and will be back again.....definitely.

Delighted to finally see a Lager in the Trooper Range (Sun and Steel) and it was on Tap and in Bottles at the Bar. Never been one for the dark heavy ales and always prefer the crisp and refreshing lagers so hopefully more to come. I went on the last tour of the day 1530, Gary was our guide. Gary is enthusiastic and knowledgeable and gave a detailed introduction in reception before taking us round, its probably warm during all stages of the tour regardless of time of year but more so in some summer so dress light. You go to the top of brewery and work your way down, some tasting of ingredients along the way and a look/smell of some hops too. It all looks so simple when going through, they still have a lot of old kit for you to see alongside the new shiny stuff. I paid for the Gold Option which allows you more beers to sample at the end of the tour and you also get a free robinsons hessian gift bag with 6 Beers - i chose the trooper selection which had 2 x Trooper, 2 x Red and Black and 2 x Light Brigade in it. Recommend for all beer enthusiasts and of course Maiden Fans!

What a gem this place is, a real family business with a great history of brewing. Gary our tour guide was immensely knowledgeable on the brewery history and brewing process. It’s well worth a visit and why not treat yourselves to a lovely afternoon tea while you’re there

The tour was really informative and interesting. Good price too, £10 and you get 3 x 3rd pints or one full pint. Can't argue with that! Would definately recommend!

My wife booked a tour for my 50th birthday because of the connection with Iron maiden. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone for a good day out. The staff are so polite and bent over backwards for us as we had some problems with our first booking ( nothing to do with the brewary). They sorted it out and welcomed us.loved every minute of it.

The tour was conducted with enthusiasm and expertly by our guide Gary. We started off on the tour by being introduced to one of the giant shire horses and then went across to the Visitor Centre where Gary gave us very interesting history of the Robinson family and how the Brewery progressed to present day. We were led through each process of how the necessary ingredients were added at the different stages until we finished with a choice of ales to taste. The tour took over an hour and was very interesting and informative. Would very highly recommend both the tour and the many varied choices of Robinson’s ales!

Nice, attractive place to have a good quality meal and a pint of their great beer. I like the decor of this brewery experience restaurant, it’s modern but in keeping with the brewery experience theme. There is table service and the waiting on staff were polite and helpful. Toilets very clean and had extra touches like boxes of tissues and hand cream.

My wife bought me a voucher for this tour as an extra Christmas present. I live locally and am quite partial to a pint of Robinson's Unicorn bitter. The tour lasts for about an hour, starting at the top of the building and working its way down to the bottom as each stage of the process is performed on a different floor. The brewing process and the history of the brewery was explained in detail by our extremely knowledgeable and entertaining tour guide, Gary. The tour finishes with a chance to taste the brews, with three third-of-a-pint glasses of your choice. Highly recommended.

We went for the tour on a Saturday morning. Arriving early we first went across the road to see the shire horses in the stables. The tour itself was over an hour long (which was probably a bit too long) and the guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the brewery and the brewing process. The tour ended in the bar where you got to try some beer with three 1/3 pints included. I probably wouldn't go on the tour again but if I'm ever back in Stockport I would go back to the bar for a pint.

Wow! Fancied something different- and we weren't disappointed. Lovely take out menu- halloumi taco bowl and sweet potato fries. Out of this world- fresh, tasty and generous portions. May have found a new favourite.

Went to the spread eagle end of October for my dads 80th. The service was slow, food service slow, not everyone got their drinks at the same time. Was my first time here after driving from west yorkshire. The food was ok, nothing special at all, expensive for what it was, £15.50 for lasagna and a bit of salad and and bread. The lasagna pasta was a little tough as i would say not cooked or prepped properly. The set of tables they pulled together were all different heights. Main thing is, my parents enjoyed it. Would we go back, no. Far more better places to go.
