Robertshaw's Bakery Cafe in Bradford

Poor start as our reservation wasn’t in the book but thankfully there were table available. Very noisy, hard to hold a conversation. Had to squeeze through seating back to counter to order food and drinks. Quick service was good! But barely warm jacket potatoes were served with very cold fillings. Pricey for what it was and poor customer service.

Came here with my son for breakfast. We were pretty much ignored when we walked in, eventually we were seated. The man behind the counter was unhelpful and rude when I placed my order. The customer service here is the worst and really unwelcoming. Spend your money elsewhere.

Reviewed this cafe back in March '23 after a bad visit and vowed never to come back. We were invited by some friends so we has to bite the bullet and hoped it would have improved. Sorry to say it hasn't, still the same. As others have said, staff aren't trained to deal with the public and look disinterested when asked a question. The pastry on the steak pies were like concrete, should have been given a kango to crack them open. The steak pie used to be made, like the corned slab, on a tray so you didn't get much pastry...but like a lot of things here things have changed for the worst since Robertshaw's took over. Think this is about poor management than a staff issue. Happy staff work better and show it.

Food was amazing and the Custer service is brilliant served by Emma who is amazing and really makes you feel really welcome and she is an asset to this place.

What a shocking welcome to the cafe. Lady behind the counter literally shouted we’re busy at the moment, with nothing to follow up …. No courtesy given. No smile. No please wait and we’ll seat you as soon as we can Another lady advised it was seat yourself, which we went to do to be shouted at again, the tables need to be cleared. Walked out at this point. Place looked dull. Staff looked far from friendly. Disappointing …. Won’t be going again. Tried here as Keelham closed and had such pleasant experiences there

Don’t know how people think food should be done I ordered beans and sausage the last two Sunday mornings and after the first time I should have known it was slop, my pal arrived as I got home his exact words when he saw my sandwich was it all goes down the same , not this one I gave it to my dog It’s not hard to do a sandwich correct but clearly is and paying good money as well plus if I’m been honest some of the young girls in here seem to have the world on there shoulders moping around, please do a secret shop to see the performance

I visited this cafe a few times in November on a Saturday afternoon when on my way to visit family. Very busy each time and had to wait white a while for my food to arrive. The lady on the till was rushed off her feet but always had a smile. I had a tuna sandwich and it was really nice. So much so that I had the same the following week. Lovely cup of coffee too. Downside - no tables clear when I arrived. Coffee came 20 minutes before my sandwich. I thought the cakes were a bit pricey compared to where I live. Moved on up the road to the farm shop afterwards for a look around. Spent £30 on 10 items. I found this pricey also but the fruit was a far better quality that I get in my local supermarket. Would like to have purchased a few more things but a lot of the products didn't have prices on them . Bought some lovely marmalade made by Bracken Hill. Had it this morning for breakfast. Again a little more than I usually pay but it was very nice. I'd definitely visit both places next time I'm in the area.

Lovely lunch, great service, especially Mark who was super accommodating to our needs. Would definitely recommend.

Called for lunch with my daughter and it was very busy, so we took that to be a good sign. We were unsure what the procedure was, so asked one of the staff as they were passing and they just told us to grab a table and somebody would be over to take our order and clear our table, 2 other staff members also passed once we were seated and said somebody would come and clear our table. 10 minutes later nobody had cleared our table so I asked a member of staff if they could clear it, the reply was "I'm getting around to them in turn" a few minutes later the same staff member plonked a tray at the end of our table and said I'll be back in a minute! I loaded the tray with the previous customers leftovers, the same staff staff member came and took the tray and left some spray and blue roll to clean the table and again said I'll be back in a minute, yes, you guessed I cleaned the table as well. Whilst sat there it became apparent nobody was coming to our table and people were going to the till to order, so both my daughter and I were confused the lady had said somebody would take our order at the table, plus it clearly says on the menu that orders would be taken at the table. We got fed up of waiting so ordered at the till, which apparently is how its done (we overheard this in another conversation) I ordered a ham sandwich, my daughter a cheese sandwich a portion of chips to share and 2 hot drinks. The hot drinks came out in a timely fashion. 35 minutes later our 2 cold sandwiches and chips arrived!!! This is after people that had come in after us and ordered full breakfasts had been served. 35 minutes for 2 cold sandwiches and a portion of chips. I have to say the sandwiches when they arrived were delicious as were the chips, however by then we had finished our drinks so a complintary one would have been nice after waiting 35 minutes for 2 cold sandwiches....I can't get over that!! Having said all that we both agreed it wouldn't stop us going again because the food once we received it was good. I do feel though that some of the staff let this place down and definitely need some more customer training, they were obviously overwhelmed with how busy it was, they weren't very friendly or smiley (again just some) which is really strange because 2 minutes up the road at the farm shop the staff are all really friendly and helpful, I'm assuming they all receive the same customer service training. I do think just a few tweaks and this place could be really good.

We had visited previously and not overly impressed, this time it’s gone completely down hill, we paid £23 in total included 2 farmers breakfasts a soft drink and £2.40 for 1/2 a mug of tea, no smile with the service, soft drink was fine, cutlery similar in standard to a plane, HP sauce bottles need a clean, breakfasts, frozen mushrooms, tinned tomatoes 1 each, 2 sausages cutlery unable to penetrate the skins, beans cold, hash browns undercooked by about 15 mins, poached eggs water had flooded the plate and made it all soggy toast comes on your plate buttered, options for toast is white, brown or burnt, see below, yolks broken, bacon very salty, you can’t complain as the staff are busy chatting to tables loudly explaining how busy they are trying to avoid the queue at the till that builds up and then they can’t clear the tables

Disappointed with the food. We ordered two Yorkshire breakfast and they were poor . Tinned tomatoes not fresh , reheated sausage bacon undercooked poached egg overcooked , presented on the cheapest plates ,with the cheapest knife’s and forks.The breakfast poorly represented Yorkshire !! The decor was cheap and tired we should have left as soon as we walked in !! The staff were friendly and polite .

We had afternoon tea and it was delicious. Everything was fresh and tasty. Plenty of choice, and what we couldn’t finish we took home with us. I recommend you give this afternoon tea a try.

Came with family. I ordered a full english. I couldn't cut the Sausages they were so hard. I think they had been pre cooked then dropped into a deep fat fryer. Eggs OK. Bacon underdone and tastless and toast loaded onto the side of my plate was black in parts.

I paid for an afternoon tea for my Dads birthday. My parents were very impressed with the presentation and the amount that they were given. They had to take some home as they could not finish it. Staff very friendly. They would return.

We called in on Sat 19th August for a couple of takeaway sandwiches as we were passing. It’s our first time but will be our last. We ordered tuna mayo and ham and cheese with salad. When they were brought, they had mixed it up, salad on the tuna, none on the ham. A simple mistake, easy enough to do and to rectify. But no, the young lady insisted that we had ordered them wrong (we hadn’t). She said it was our fault (it wasn’t). She was extremely rude and a little aggressive. She begrudgingly changed it, while still insisting it was all our fault. A very unpleasant experience instead of a simple apology and rectification. It was our first visit. It will definitely be our last.

The breakfasts are freshly made with quality ingredients and they are good value for money. The staff are friendly and they are willing to go the extra mile to make your visit an enjoyable one. This is our first choice for breakfast.

Revisited the cafe after recently stumbling upon it when on a visit. Delicious food both takeaway and sit down. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Went for Lunch after a walk from Thornton Village, had Corned Beef Slab, Chips and Peas. Decent portion size, the only downside was the Gravy wasn’t thick enough ( for me). Will definitely call again. The staff were very friendly.
