Roberts Fishbar in Stockton-on-Tees

In my opinion this chippy is overpriced, used to love it here but I wonder if it’s changed ownership… Chips are tasteless and undercooked and the mushy peas went straight in the bin. Portion size was small for a “large” chips, but on this occasion I was glad when they were gone. Sadly won’t be returning.

Lovely Gluten Free Fish & Chips for Coeliacs. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Fish was thick and tasty with a very nice GF batter which was just right in texture and taste. Chips were plentiful and cooked just right to be a nice golden colour. All food was ready at the time it was ordered for and was piping hot. A great first visit and we will definitely be returning.

The quality of the food is not as good as it used to be, yet the cost of the food has doubled. £11 for two portions of chips and gravy is frankly disgusting. You have sadly out-priced yourselves from loyal customers.

Really enjoyed our food. Gluten free options available too which means we could all get something, the fish was great and staff were super friendly.

Haven’t been here for a while and it used to be a great place for good quality fish and chips. Purchased cod and chips (£9.20) this evening and they were the worst I have ever had. So greasy and the batter was undercooked, thick and sloppy. Fish was tasteless. Won’t be going back, I have heard they changed hands recently and you can certainly tell, it’s gone right down the pan.

Not been here in a while but unfortuantely i dont know if i will be back, could barely eat the food, the amont of grease in it is unbelievable, very pale bitty chips, undercooked batter on things absolutely awful. When they first opened under original owners the quality and presentation were amazing now its expensive sub standard food and the prices are high. Sorry for the review but it is honest

Getting worse. Small portion sizes, with only a handful of chips, surely they’re not that expensive. Also, the lady serving in Ingleby seems to be getting more and more irritable every time I go in. The last time (Friday night) she was just downright rude. I’m all for supporting local businesses but if you don’t look after your customers then they’ll go elsewhere.

2nd time now have been given cold chips 1st time phoned and told them this time won't use anymore what has happened this used to be the best chippy

The quality of the fish cannot be questioned and the chips, when hot, are excellent. Saturday treat.

Always good fish and chips, notice they do gluten fee now, always cooked fresh, friendly staff. I always have to ask for half portion of chips as usually too many for me.

What’s happening to our favourite fish shop, very small fish and small portion of lukewarm chips, come on guys we were so disappointed tonight, they are a treat for us, but don’t think I will be returning.

Excellent chip shop, by far the best in area. food is always clean and freshly cooked. and to top it off they service glutton free fish and chips cooked in a separate fryer on a Friday and Saturday. Personally think they should advertise this fact,

We have travelled to use this fish shop as not the closest to us. .last time few months ago we noticed the portions were smaller,but thought it was a one if. Called in about 330 ordered med fish £4.20 and bag standard chips £2.20 and a Patty. Fish was small for the price n never seen a fish that shape. Chips were warmed up with lots if scrappy bits. Patty was smaller than normal and lacked fish amounts. The fish was lovely cannot fault the taste but the rest and taking into consideration the size of the fish with warmed up chips we felt ripped off. Think the cost and size was not worth the travel so we are not be using this one again

Everything we have bought from here has been cooked to perfection. Would recomend anyone to go here.

I cannot understand some of these reviews saying the chips are hard🤷🏻‍♀️ we go every Thursday tea time and have never had hard or cold chips! Also my 18 year old has fish bits and loves them! I think people just like to have a dig at a very good business 🤔

Didnt get to try the fish n chips.. they refused to cook a small fish for my 6 year old who loves traditional fish n chips instead tried to tell me she would have to have fish bites ..more batter than fish or order a standard fish n chips which is excessive. Walked out went to the 'other' fish n chips shop and was met with great customer service and left with a very happy 6 year old.

Just had the crispest most none greasy fish n chips ever! We have 3 fish n chip shops within a 2 mile radius which are not bad but would rather travel the extra 8 miles for the quality, the curry sauce is lovely,beautiful white fish and great chips. Worth every penny.

staff whats left of them are polite how ever the portions small chips hard...... ( hope you have good teeth) expensive.. cheaper and better quality if you search Google ..

Very good quality, reasonable price, lots of choice. Fish bites very good choice for the kids. Service could be a little more welcoming however fish chips make up for it.

its a local chippy.. clean. staff always polite. but firstly its expensive.. secondly. the chips are always hard. if not crunchy sorry but there are better eating establishments in the local area..

Only been once but it was the best fish I've had outside of Whitby by a mile. Will be going back in April when I'm next in the area.

Tried fish and chips, which were very well presented in a fancy box and a slice of lemon, but when being served girl handled the cash for payment, but then picked up lemon and parsley garnish with same hands and did not use any tongs, which has put us off returning again

The Staff are friendly and the chip shop is clean. The spam and chips was part of the special at £2.90 which is good value for money. This is the best chip shop in Ingleby Barwick.

Este el mejor pescado y patatas fritas que he utilizado. Me encanta el hecho de que el pescado es capturado localmente, incluso dirá que fue capturado en barco!

by far the best in this area, very clean nice staff, all food cooked fresh, so u will have to wait a few mins for your order but worth it, fish always fresh

This fish shop is actually in Ingleby Barwick and not Stockton-on-Tees. The fish is cooked to order and whilst the chips are good it is the fish which makes this shop excellent. I usually have a large cod which is always of the highest quality and is certainly never short on quantity also. The service and welcome from the staff is very good. Highly recommended.

We got back from holiday and had nothing in so we decided, as we do a handful of times every year, to have fish and chips (what have you got to lose after a fortnight of eating out?!). We always go to Roberts. They use good quality ingredients, the food is well cooked and the staff are polite. Highly recommended.

Always great fish and chips, consistent, not greasy, nicely presented in cardboard boxes, saves on the washing up as well.

Started using Roberts after our local chippy moved and haven't had a bad meal yet. Good choice on menu. All food cooked to order so it means there's a bit of a wait but your food is fresh so worth it in my opinion. Plus I can't see why you couldn't phone in an order if you didn't want to wait. Staff really friendly and happy to oblige my request to batter the breaded cheese savoury. Portion sizes are really generous too.
