Oh this is a very lovely coffee experience- but away from the beaten track but is well worth the effort to find it. Have only found it as the better half of our coupling has followed her excellent hairdresser out from his former Manchester base so it is a bit of a trek - but for the driver armed with book this is an oasis of tranquility that is well worth the trip. The coffee is frankly as good as you will get anywhere - plenty of choice to meet every taste. And as if that isn’t enough there’s a range of very lovely cakes to tickle your tastebuds. Add in a good helping of friendly efficient service and you’re almost there as you can finally sink into lively comfy couches or tables and chairs and you’re there for the most perfect experience. Having indulged in the cafe you can then treat yourself to a lovely range of coffees to buy from around the world to take home. Absolutely love this place from only my second visit - it is so worth going out of your way to get to.

This is a proper working coffee roasters producing an amazing variety of coffee blends. The 'coffee shop' area shares its space with the equipment; the weighing machine and sacks of coffee beans from around the world, waiting to be processed. With an electric mix of tables, chairs and settees and walls decorated with coffee sacks, this is an unique way to enjoy the most delicious coffee and some very indulgent cakes and muffins. The quality of beans that I bought from here are very good, much darker than I normally buy but not charcoal like many old school roasters. I'm really enjoying them with my equipment at home. Unfortunately, the flat white I was served in the shop wasn't great. The milk was almost boiled and had lost all it's sweetness making the resulting drink no better than the sort served at Starbucks, bitter and needing a ton of sugar to make it palatable.I do sort of feel sorry for these sort of artisan places though. People are so used to having poorly prepared commodity coffee that when a flat white is prepared correctly it's often sent back for not being hot enough so they probably just end up giving the masses what they want.

I admit that I am a coffee snob. I roast my own green beens and make posh single origin espresso looking for the perfect shot! Uk coffee shops are largely dire. For example any coffee shop in New Zealand would knock the socks of a Uk version. However, Roberts is the exception to this. Like the cafe the coffee is quirky but wholesome and is consistently fresh tasting and well brewed. Their standard blends are pleasant and they offer a good range of single origins in a french press. Their microfoam and latte art need work but that is easily forgiven as they know how to make good tasting coffee! This is the only place in the Merseyside area outside of a couple of places in Liverpool I have found worth a second visit!

Nice coffee. Suffers from being attached to Cedar Farm. Judging from the accents and fleets of Range Rovers (or Mawdesley Tractors as I now call them) Cedar Farm appears to be a detached piece of the most snobbish bit of Surrey transplanted in to an isolated, flat agricultural area of Lancashire. If you can bear to overhear all the talk of Henrietta and Gideon's exploits at private school and how Giles is up for promotion in the investment banking department - then you might enjoy this place. Non of this is really the fault of the coffee shop, but down to it's location. I rate the coffee shop highly, but unfortunately it attracts a really snobbish crowd, creating a rather unpleasant atmosphere.

I might have been here a long time ago but I just visited again recently on my own for a coffee and cake, hoping to find somewhere for some quiet computer work. Taylors is a casual sort of place with a good mix of seating and an overflow area in the mini arcade outside. I liked that you place your order at the counter but they bring it to your table. What looked like homemade cereal bars proved delicious but I must say I found my coffee rather bland. True, I hadn't asked for any particular blend; this was obviously their standard offering. Staff were working hard though they seemed a bid jaded. Coffee roasting and grinding takes place in some rather old looking equipment in an untidy and rather casually fenced off area to one side of the café – though that's probably part of the charm. For some minutes after I arrived a noisy grinder was running but once it had finished I found the café generally peaceful. I had a second coffee and cake! Unfussy free wifi is impressive. I'll come back again.

The Good:- The coffee (Columbian filter coffee of the day) and cakes were good; my chocolate muffin oozed chocolate and gets a ten out of ten. My Wife didn't comment on her muffin but I guess she was happy enough. It is always nice to have the option of filter coffee but I also like to pay a little more for a bottomless cup so popular Sates side. Servers must be aware that it only has at best a twenty minute shelf life, too before it oxidises and gets unacceptable. The bad:- This place attracts families with young kids and the noise level was hard to tolerate. I do not like to see staff members chewing their nails behind the counter with no attempt to wash their hands afterwards. Two staff members were guilty of this. One male working behind the counter had a face like a robber's dog; he didn't seem at all happy to be there!
