Roberto's in Sefton

Went for dinner on Saturday night, myself and my wife. The one thing that gets my goat is when both dishes aren't served together, my wife's main dish came out before my own and she had to wait for my pizza to arrive. Its not hard people to get this right especially when there is only two people to serve. My wife's dish was lovely she said, my pizza was a little well cooked on the base for my liking. I would have like to have a pizza cutting wheel instead of making do with a next to blunt knife. But apart from the above not a bad experience, the place is nice inside and the staff very helpful.

This is the second visit here and it was fabulous! The food was great and you can't go wrong with any of the dishes. Would highly recommend the lasagna, salmon fillet and pene arrabbiata. Kat, our waiter was phenomenal and went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was exceptional. He was very attentive and made sure that we were enjoying our meal. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with soft lighting and nice traditional portraits around the restaurant. I would highly recommend it and looking forward to visiting you again soon.

We booked a table and arrived early to a restaurant that had 3 tables full of people. We waited for 10 minutes to order a soft drink each, we were 2 people and my daughter who is disabled, the order was wrong. How can a lime and soda and an orange in soda be so wrong.... As we had waited so long we had decided what we wanted to order, food wise, however, the girl who gave us our drinks couldn't take our food order. So many staff and no one could do everything, they had to get someone else to do something.... We waited a further 15 minutes until we asked another member of staff if we can order. We were told they would send someone over to take our order.... After 30 minutes of being in the restaurant, we were told that the kitchen was 'backed up' and they will take our order soon!!! Backed up, 3 tables used inside and a few outside!?!. Whilst looking around I noticed the chef, wearing the white jacket and not a lot of hair, was downing glasses of wine, thinking no one would notice! So unprofessional. Eventually we ordered. I ordered a child's meal for my daughter and asked for it to be blended as she is disabled and needs a blended diet. This wasn't done. The chef chopped up the spaghetti a bit and that was it.... We got our starters and within a few minutes our mains arrived. We sent them back until we ate our starters, which were very underwhelming. We ordered the cannelloni for mains and, after a blast in the microwave, and after we didn't burn our mouths off, it was also very underwhelming. The chef needs to go back to school and learn about seasoning and flavour. Honestly, we went to this restaurant about 4 years ago and it was amazing. How has it deteriorated so much.... I hope the owners take a good luck at this review, as the people on the table next to us had very similar issues, and deal with the issues raised.

Visited Roberto's for the first time and it was fabulous. It was a busy Saturday and the restaurant was full. Luckily they managed to fit us in. The service was quick and efficinet and the staff really looked after us. A nice atmosphere in the restaurant as well and it was traditionally italian decorated. The food was amazing from the starters to the deserts and we were impressed by the open kitchen the restaurant had. The food was really delicious and would highly reccomend the Alfredo and the steak which were fantastic. Thank you very much and looking forward to visiting you again!

We went to Roberto's tonight, after seeing a recommendation on a dog friendly Southport site. We were en route home from a dog show, with our 3 small dogs in tow. I ran inside to ensure that they catered for gluten free diets, and checked that dogs were allowed inside. The staff members were so kind and friendly, and insisted that they catered for both requests. Dogs are allowed in the seating area near the window/door, and outside. This is perfect as it means that nobody is seated near a dog who does not wish to be. The venue is spacious, with enough space for all parties, including booth seating for families and larger family groups. I had the penne arrabiata and garlic bread with tomato, both gluten free and I confirm that I felt well after both (a key concern when you are gluten free!). The sauce was absolutely gorgeous, and the pasta was cooked to perfection. My husband had the house combo and an eton mess for dessert. He says that both were delicious. I am so glad that we tried Roberto's: we are going to return this weekend after another show! Thank you to all staff. It was the friendliest place we have been in a while.

Was looking forward to visiting Roberto's for a little while but sadly very disappointed. I had the penne aribiata. The pasta was perfect, that's where it ended. Sauce was bland and tasteless. Slight huk of chilli and nothing else. I then had tiramisu. No taste of coffee and the sponge fingers were soggy and hadn't been dunked in coffee before using, again fairly tasteless. Will I look forward to returning.........no a chance.

Our favourite restaurant. Excellent food freshly cooked. Gary and staff are efficient, attentive giving friendly service. We have visited many times on our own, with friends and a celebratory large family party. A vibrant atmosphere without being chaotic. This lovely Italian eatery never disappoints.

Came across this restaurant a few months ago, and can say its now our favourite spot in Southport, all of our kids love a day out in Robertos/ premier bowl, perfect for family’s, lovely consistent food, and happy attentive staff

Not worth the price for the quality of the food, and the staff were very rude to us and acted like dealing with children was a pain.

I visited this restaurant Last Thursday night and had a lovely meal. But the waitress we had seemed to have her head in the clouds! We waited ages for our drinks and she wouldn't stop talking to other customers, not doing her job at all. The chef even had to come out to continue to do her job while she did nothing. I love this restaurant and the food but she made this a horrible experience for me.

Arrived not knowing what I really felt like eating! The manager Claudio was really impressive, he asked if I wanted help, I agreed but not sure how he could help if I didn’t know myself! Well he asked a few questions, found out my likes and dislikes and suggested a recipe that wasn’t even on the menu! Couldn’t have been more helpful, and it was delicious! I was looking at the menu outside and the restaurant owner came out to speak with me. I went for a walk and returned later to have a meal which was very good. Being a Tuesday it was very quiet so lacked a bit of atmosphere. Recommend a visit as good value for money as well.

I visited here alone when travelling in business. It is surrounded by the usual chain casual dining restaurants, Nando’s, Frankie and Bennys, Chiquitos so it stands out with its charming gingham tablecloths.

Opposite the Premier Inn, 5 min walk to Lord St and fair ground. Excellent Italian, I travel the world and this is a great find. Food very tasty, light Pizza Garlic Bread, amazing pasta (so tasty), excellent service, nothing too much of a problem, dog friendly.... on a hot day nice to see bowls of water outside. The free parking voucher a nice touch.

Visited the restaurant a week ago and had a nice meal (lasagne) at a reasonable price ie £6.95 per person. Visited again a few days later and had the same meal for £9.95 each. Presumed we would get the same meal for the same price as advertised on the outside board. Both lasagnes were cold in the centre. Thought we had found a nice place to eat but on 2nd visit were very disappointed. Came away feeling ripped off! Won't be going again

Went in for lunch, midweek, paid a la carte evening prices for a chicken salad and a penne arrabiata. Portions were quite mean to say the least and we both left still feeling hungry, but the quality of the main didn't inspire a stay for dessert. Wouldn't return, but should have heeded my instinct when we walked in and only 2 people were in the huge restaurant. Having now read some previous reviews I think they need to up their game in a very competitive business.

Visited straight from the cinema at about 7.30pm, the restaurant was not busy. Drinks were brought quickly. Starter & mains were ordered a few minutes later. After 1/2 HR we still did not have our Garlic bread with cheese. No staff checked in with us & It was difficult to get their attention. The mains were brought to the table but still no starter. We mentioned it to the girl who served us, at this point we said we didn't want it but she would get one. We could hear the staff arguing about it. The garlic bread turned up after my daughter & I had finished out mains. It got eaten coz I was still hungry as portion size was disappointing. The staff & management offered no apology & were totally disinterested.

Food was pre-booked for a specific time and after several of us asking where it was it finally came out 1 and half hours late and the food was very average! The manager/owner was extremely rude to everyone and wouldn't apologise for such a delay! Wouldn't return!!

Came in a large group so pre ordered our meals and were assured by the manager that our meals would arrive by 7.45pm as we had plans after....despite pre ordering, our meals didn't turn up till past 9pm which then ruined our plans for afterwards. The worst part was how rude the manager was to us and didn't care or even apologies but just argued. Our lasagnes came out cold in the middle and had to be sent back. Staff were rude, service was poor, food was below average. Will never come here again.

The food here is beautiful, lots of choice on the menu. I went for the lasagne and wasn’t disappointed.. it was the BEST lasagne I have ever eaten. It’s a shame I don’t live closer to Southport, I would eat here all the time! Kids eat free too which was fantastic, AND the portions are big! My children loved it

Went here Saturday night for my Husbands birthday, were made to sit at the front by the door even though we said we didn't want to sit there as it was extremely windy and cold on Saturday night so everytime the door opened you were hit by a gust of cold draft. Restaurant was only half full and there were tables further back. Sat at the table for a good 10 minutes trying to get the waitress attention as we hadn't been given menu's or even offered a drink. Young waitress kept looking elsewhere, by this time I was ready to walk out. A few minutes later we managed to grab the guy's attention and got menu's and eventually another lady took our drinks order. The food was nice when it arrived although the side order of fries were horrible.

Quiet Sunday night Italian! Very tasty Fettucine Alfredo. Tasty Breaded Garlic Mushrooms starter. Other couples here too plus families with children. Service was friendly and quick! Good drinks selection, have visited in the past and enjoyed a good Illy coffee.

We were seated quickly, served promptly and after drinks arrived we ordered food from the kids and adult menu. The food was lovely; hot, flavoursome and more-ish (I could have eaten the garlic bread side order all by myself). Would definitely visit again.

Went just after lunch so was not busy. Had an excellent risotto and the other party excellent pasta, House wine also very good followed by proper Italian coffee. Food cooked to order so a slight wait but worth it when it arrives, Waiter very good not hovering like they can in some places.

A group of 6 of us ate here after visiting the cinema it was wonderful.

This is one of our favourite restaurants and a place we usually pick for family occasions. Staff are always welcoming and food is delicious.

Visited here once again on a short break in Southport.My daughter and I think the Lasagna is a delicacy, the best we've ever tasted , it melts in the mouth.

'R'/Roberto's is a good find in this chain dominated car park and concrete quarter of Southport...albeit a fairly modern and handily located base for sea, lake/park and fun fair with 3 hours of free parking.

Never been here before and I`m glad I called in with 2 friends.

We were all staying in the motel opposite this restaurant so decided to give it a try. The meals were superb: freshly cooked and presented beautifully. As we were leaving one of our number asked about a certain obscure Italian dish. Within minutes Roberto had supplied a frozen container full of it which we stored in our freezer-bag and it survived our eventual journey home.

It was a Sunday night, so obviously would be quieter than previous nights.

We visited completely at random on Saturday when it was very quiet inside. It took a while to get food but I'm pretty sure there was only 2 people working and I wasn't in a hurry so didn't mind.

This is our second visit to this independent Italian restaurant. It is so nice to find one that is like this type of restaurant used to be. I had the best fresh sea bass, charred with diced tomato olive oil and greens. Just superb. The staff are all helpful and the owners really care about what they are serving and customer care.

Attention to detail from Oscar was second to none. Food was extremely delicious and served well. Thouroughly enjoyed the visit and will definitely be returning. Only gripe I would have is for the restaurant to play italian music rather than pop otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

First visit good menu choice and good price both of us had the tropical pizza very nice with plenty of topping, staff were pleasent and did not do the annoying thing of keep asking how is your food is every 10 minutes, will go again.

Best Italian in Southport! visited with friends before the cinema, we asked the waiter we had just 45 minutes and he kindly warned the chef. food came out only 10 minutes later and it was hot, well presented and tasty! excellent service, nice atmosphere, good music, great food! what can you ask more? definetly will be back

After a long day touring Southport we spotted a little Italian which had an appealing menu. So we walked in to wait 5 minutes to be seated (near the cold breezes coming from the open door). Drinks came quite quickly and we ordered a garlic bread to start and our main meals. 25 minutes go by.. I ask a waitress where our garlic bread was & she advised it was coming soon.. 5 minutes later a cold, dry and tasteless garlic bread arrived - we were that hungry we just ate it. Half an hour after we finished our ‘starter’ I asked the waitress again where our main meals were as we had ordered over an hour ago and she huffed that she would check. By this point 2 other tables had left due to slow service. The waitress didn’t come back to let us know where our food was and I could see tables around us were also getting frustrated. A further 10 minutes later the abrupt waitress served our mains with no apology and rolling her eyes. I had chicken pasta which was extremely bland - I just couldn’t wait to get out of there. We even found the loo’s were disgusting and no toilet roll in 2! Whilst paying we shared our bad experience with the waiter to be brushed off with ‘there’s only 3 chefs’. I expected a discount at the least but of course this wasn’t the case. It is safe to say we won’t be visiting here again!!

Bad staff. No courtesy check when we had our mains. Garlic bread was substandard. Our server was polishing cutlery and throwing the cutlery down creating us to have headaches whilst eating. Didn’t get asked if we needed re fills and I’m not shocked as to why the place is so dead

We visited here on Saturday night after receiving some good news but it was absolutely SHOCKING! The place was half empty we ordered our drinks and 20 minutes later I had to call the staff over to ask where they were! He calmly said oh yeah I’ll go and get them!!!! When he brought them back we ordered our food plus a starter ... really wish we hadn’t of bothered! Whilst we sat for 50 minutes watching all the other disappointed customers waiting for their drinks we were getting more and more frustrated! After over an hour I decided we were going... I went to the till and asked to pay for our drinks and mentioned that we had waited too long for our food and all I got was oh ok then!!!!!! No sorry no nothing. I DO NOT recommend this place at all it was an absolute shambles and will not be making the 30 minute trip there ever again!

Called in Sunday night as this is our go to place after a trip to Vue, service was fast, from time of walking in to getting our starters 15mins, had the meatballs to start always very good here, my wife had the breaded mushrooms, very tasty, to follow one of the best Calzone you will get anywhere, my wife had the Margarita and as always done with the Naples style base, all washed down with a couple of very well kept Peroni, perfect. will be back very soon.

Delighted to stumble across this hidden gem, on the parade it's easy to loose robertos against the chains that dominate the frontage.

Unbelievably shocking service and incompetent staff. Went for a meal and waited 30 minutes to get the wrong starters (they were for another table). Btw, served before our drinks as well! When they gave us our actual starters they got the order wrong: garlic pizza, the. Garlic bread with cheese, which should be without, served after the main pizza. I had to laugh that they kept bringing us garlic pizza meant for another table throughout the evening!The mains arrived 75 minutes after we sat down and besides from being very average meals, the calzone was served with half of it completely burnt and we had to send it back (didn’t bother waiting again for another!). We even made friends with Other tables experienced similar issues to us. The bill at the end of the meal was completely wrong: both the garlic pizza never ate it and the burned calzone and(just for an extra) 2 burgers instead of one. When we complained they told it was because they were short of staff. If this is the case, we should have been warned upfront there would be a long wait - not served in an appalling way! To top it off - we didn’t even receive an apology during the meal!

I haven't visited this restaurant for a few years.

The restaurant is nice enough, very spacious but quieter than you'd expect for 7.00 pm on a Saturday. However there were no tables at Nando's, and we were all hungry. The service was good, and the staff friendly. The pizzas we ordered were average, and I found it a little pricey. Confounded by the fact that we were charged for two pints of Peroni that we didn't have. Unfortunately I didn't realise this until I got home. I realise it is incumbent on me to check the bill before paying, however I just gave it a quick glance as I was with my family who were all ready to leave. I hope this was a genuine error, however I will not return.

Very friendly family run restaurant. Food cooked to order so be prepared to wait whilst it is cooked. Roberto has been in Southport for many years and he and his wife, daughter and staff endeavour to make your visit a happy one. Mid range prices some may find it a little pricey as there are no voucher that I know of to use. I think there should be! Please. I would happily recommend Julia his wife is really kind.

A very clean well set out restaurant. The menu was a great selection of proper cooked Italian food, the service was excellent only to be topped by the food it's self, it's a must visit and I will be returning soon. Highly recommended 👍

Got to say I was impressed, the food was lovely and tasty, service was fab, the guy was on his own I think and he did a great job. I am very picky and would defo go back there when I am next in Southport.

I chose Roberto's because I was too tired to go into town in search of dinner. I was very lucky. The food is delicious and not over-priced. Service is very friendly and efficient. Not to be missed if you in Southport.

Just out for a day trip to take Mum out to the shops. This restaurant is close to Matalan and Dunelm, with plenty of parking and you can walk onto the pier from here as well. This was our first visit to Roberto's and there was plenty of seating and good choice on the menu or drinks list.The food was good and hot when served and the seasoning was excellent. We both said the portions size was very good and Mum had a light bite Pizza which was ample for her. We will come again.

From Eighty plus right down to teenagers this has tasty food to suit all. A family favourite that brings us all together.

Visiting Southport for a short stay between Christmas and New Year we stumbled across this restaurant. There was no problem getting a table as the restaurant seemed quiet which put us off slightly at first. However the waiters were very friendly and the food freshly prepared and piping hot. We shared garlic and rosemary on a pizza base followed by smoked haddock and pea risotto with a poached egg for me and spaghetti and meatballs for my partner. All delicious. Only thing preventing a 5 star rating was the inability to supply the cocktails on the menu. Would definitely return.

We also went with our Pilates group, 18 of us all had excellent meals. Good service, portions and value. Also food was hot, we all chose off the set menu which was excellent value. ! We have never been to Roberto's before although knew it from Lord Street. Our Pilates teacher selected it, must say a really good choice.

Went with my son and his family, last week nice and quiet, service second to none, food outstanding, garlic bread yum yum !! Will definitely return.

Visited Robert’s Friday night, With friends from my wife’s palates group. Food was excellent, service very good especially for group of 20. Will definitely return in the new year.

I took my grandchildren for a meal after the cinema.

4 of us called in on Saturday evening for a meal. It was very busy when we walked in but was showed to a table straight away. We all ordered a pasta dish and some garlic bread to start. After a 30 min wait we asked how much longer it would be? Was told 2 mins! Another 15mins later our pasta arrived which I have to say 3 of us really enjoyed bar 1 who ordered a seafood pasta. There was hardly any actual seafood in it my friend wasn’t impressed! After we finished our main we asked again where our garlic bread was ? They bought it over after an hour wait after we’d all finished our mains ! Who wants garlic bread for desert??? No apologies?!

We have dined at Robertos on many occasions over many years both on Lord Street and where they are now and have no complaints at all. Our visits to Southport have been made better by a reliable and delicious establishment. Had an early Sunday Dinner and food was excellent and served well. Staff friendly as always. If we lived closer we would frequent more often!

Back again in Southport (work) so we went in to Roberto's again for coffee a t 3oclock it was empty but we got a lovely welcome and great coffee . and we will be BACK

Nine of us went for an early meal. Everything about it was very, very good from start to finish (including spa-standard toiletries in the loos). We all had different meals and each one was delicious. The staff were all lovely and helpful. It was a lovely evening, thoroughly enjoyed by us all.

My family love Italian food and found this restaurant really good. My daughter has celiac disease and they were very accommodating, we particularly enjoyed the gluten free garlic bread they made for us. Great food, reasonably priced and very good service. We will be going again.

Ate here with my sister on a sunny afternoon and sat outside in comfy seating area. Food was fresh and very tasty. Waitress on her own but did a great job, we did not wait long for our food. Thoroughly enjoyable and great cocktails.

Salió del cine vue en 10. 30:00 un poco de hambre y recibidos en el restaurante, a pesar del hecho de que era casi la hora de cierre. Después de la cena tuvimos una gran conversación con los propietarios acerca de Tshirts, Roma y improvisada bañarse en rotulación estanques de peces! Una noche estupenda!

Visitamos hoy para comer con nuestros dos niños pequeños y no podíamos haber pedido una experiencia mejor. Al entrar en el restaurante, nada era demasiado problema. El personal era atento, educado y amable. El restaurante tiene un ambiente encantador, y usted puede realmente relajarse y disfrutar de su comida. Y realmente lo disfrute de su comida, ya que la comida es absolutamente fantástico. Estuve con un grupo de compañeros de trabajo. Habíamos pedido nuestra comida, así que esperaba el servicio rápido y eficiente. Lamentablemente no fue así.
