Great food, service and nice atmosphere inside. A great local pub for myself having just moved to the area. Will definitely return

I enjoyed it here was really long delay on pudding but they knocked it off the bill but everything other than that was satisfactory. The staff where great very professional 👏 Lots of empty tables at 18:40 yet fully booked to 8pm which is only 1hr 30 away had a feeling this would happen. Had to drop my star rating they always judge me by how I look.

Lovely surroundings, food was just ok, service was lacking and kitchen very slow. Not been back based on overall experience and cost. Did very much like the refurb. Visit eo Jan23

Arrived and order was taken quickly by lovely wait staff. I had the goats cheese starter and it was absolutely delicious. My partner had the bruschetta starter and his daughter had the wild mushrooms. Everything was beautifully presented and full of flavour. We all ordered the roast beef dinner as it was Sunday and we fancied a roast. This was delicious, generous portions and the roast potatoes were nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Beef was perfectly cooked tasty. Even though we were full we had to try the desert so we ordered the chocolate and salted caramel tart. It was divine. Decor gave the place a lovely cosy atmosphere. We will definitely be going back.

It’s a real shame as this could be an amazing restaurant. We’ve been a number of times. The most disappointing thing is that we’ve never had a bad meal here. The food is always amazing, every single time, which is why we keep giving it another chance. But last night was the last time. The bar is the biggest let down, the last few times we’ve been they run out of both draft beers, peroni and moretti, and last night they also run out of bottles of peroni too. It’s Saturday evening, and no beers apart from bottles of Corona. It’s happened a few times when we’ve been there. Lots of empty tables again. It’s 7pm on a Saturday night. Absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever, not many people in dining. In fact one table left within 5 minutes of getting their seats because of the lack of choice at the bar they chose to leave. The decor in the restaurant is beautiful, the background music is lovely but there is just no atmosphere as it’s so empty on a Saturday night again. The staff are all young kids. They’ll all very lovely but seem to mill about by the bar with nothing much to do. The ladies toilets had no toilet paper in it, again this has happened before. Such a shame as this could be a wonderful restaurant!! So disappointed. I’ve given it 3 stars purely because the food is always fabulous . Everything else lets it down.

Great place to eat. Friendly and very helpful staff! The food was exceptional standard. Can recommend the Cambrian Prawns starter, chicken Millianaise main, and Eton mess for pudding. All delicious. Will definitely return and recommend. Thanks Alba for a very pleasant evening.

I have just had a sunday roast there today, it was amazing,staff lovely as well. So cheap 2 courses for 1995,will be returning again, and will be trying dat night tea there.

We hired the venue for a family funeral. Sue could not be more helpful. The buffet was superb with good quality tasty food. Bar staff were also very attentive and polite. We are very appreciative and will definitely return for a meal out. Would highly recommend.

Food was great- Our server Ruby was amazing and waited on a party of 14 very good.

Visited with my partner for the first time, probably will be the last time too! My pasta was completely bland and was basically watery tomato sauce, left more than half, my partner had the steak and chips and gave it a 5.5 out of 10. Garlic bread was really nice though. Waited a while after being seated for our order to be taken despite the restaurant being empty. Staff were friendly too.

This is such a great place! The food is amazing. Nice selection of meat and fish dishes. It was hard to choose as they they all looked good. I booked a table for Sunday at 6 pm to enjoy a roast dinner for two. Unfortunately, I received a phone call just 15 minutes before our booking informing us that they had run out of various menu items. The only options available were pasta, pizza, and flat top steaks. While I understand that stock outs can happen, being informed at such short notice ruined our plans and left us unable to find an alternative restaurant in time. This experience was incredibly disappointing and I will definitely not be returning. I suggest that the restaurant look into improving their inventory management to prevent this kind of issue from happening again.

First timers and absolutely loved the food, the service, the atmosphere, not a bad word to say. Can’t wait to come back.

This place was unbelievable the Decor was beautiful the music was so chill and the staff were just so lovely honestly the kindest people. We got steak and lamb and I have to say it was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. we will definitely be back. Thanks for a lovely night.

Food was lovely, but more veggie options are needed. I don't know if it's just on a weekend or because it was mother's day, but there were only 2 veggie starters, and 3 mains to pick from. The nut roast was nice but more pasta options would be great.

Visited this place based on a friend's recommendation. Ordered the Ribeye steak (£28), but was disappointed to find it tasted fishy. Despite informing the staff, no action was taken, and I was still charged the full price.

I recently visited this restaurant for the 1st time. I was blown away! I had the tomato and mozzarella bruschetta starter and wagyu burger and fries for main..absolutely delicious. The burger was so tender and tasty. I will definitely be going again. The staff are lovely, so friendly and helpful. 10/10. Can't wait to go again.

The food was good however the 2-course deal had no rump steak and a replacement steak was not available. This was 1500hrs on a Saturday so it leads me to believe it's a tactic to get punters in! We had to eat pasta as there was no rump steak, the pasta was quite tasty. Desert ordered Crem B and again the advertised shortbread biscuit was replaced with 2 digestive biscuits, I found this out as it was being served, dessert was ok. Overall, it seems like a pleasant place but needs to improve its menu updates or buy more stock!

My family and I as a group of 20 went on New Year’s Eve. Great atmosphere soon as you walk in. Fabulous food, wine and service. Considering we were a large group all eating different dishes the food was excellent and would highly recommend. Will definitely be going back.

Ran out of draft beers had no cider did not sell it had no soft tonic water won't go there again

Went for our wedding anniversary last night. Lovely atmosphere, food was excellent we had starters and mains, fabulous selection of drinks which went down a treat, and a complimentary glass of fizz each which was a nice touch. Definitely will be going back soon to try more on the menu

Great food and good value for money.

Lovely decorated restaurant. Helpful, friendly, attentive staff. Food was really nice and a good size. £76 for two 3 course meals, 2 beers, one glass of rose and a Diet Coke, great value for money.

Just popped in with a friend to have a couple of beers, very good service and nice selection of drinks. Friendly staff and very nice place.

Beautifully prepared and presented food. The cherry sauce with the duck was particularly tasty. Would also recommend the thrice cooked chips, top quality.....never has a chip been so beautifully prepared! Only 4 stars for the service as there was very lengthy periods between courses. We were a big party, we did pre order however. Also no facility for us to pay individually, the restaurant could only take 2 cards per party.Obv no good for a party of 12. Fortunately, we all paid cash bar one. Feel a software update would eliminate this. Overall, a lovely dining experience, would recommend The Alba.

I went here last night and it was a bit of a mixed bag. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the best part of the visit. We had the scallops to start and the cote de beouf for my son and the duck breast for myself. The scallops were beautifully cooked and very tasty. When it came to the main course we were disappointed as both the dishes were overcooked and the cote de beouf was a bit chewy because it was overcooked. The flavours were all there and the dauphenoise was outstanding however the way the meat was cooked ruined it. The chips were very nice. Finally my son had the chocolate brownie which he said was delicious and I had cheese. Overall it's a nice place but for the way we received the meat is the reason for my rating. The bill for 2 was £140 which is a bit expensive. I may go back in the future and retry, as what was wrong is easily fixed.

We got there 5 minutes early and told to sit at the bar and wait whilst they got the table ready (all tables were set already and the restaurant was quite empty). Bar-man got us a drink even though both beer taps were out of use and a dry martini and lemonade had to be sieved due to bits being in it. We were ignored for 20 minutes until we were finally told that our table was ready. We sat there for a further 20 minutes whilst staff seemed wander around aimlessly. We were only approached to be asked what we would like when they saw us putting our jackets on to leave. Really disappointed as heard good reviews but the service was abysmal. Can’t say for the food as didn’t get a chance to eat anything.

We are so lucky to have Alba near us! Food, Service and vibes are all perfect! We have been around 5/6 times now and when we have booked for a special occasion, the staff have been so attentive and lovely! We are vegan and love how many options we have to choose from! My husband and I love Alba and will continue to visit regularly! :)

I saw Alba were on Just Eat so called to do a collection. We got 2 pizzas, skin on fries and a kids chicken strip meal. I arrived and the staff were lovely, offered me a drink while I waited. The pizzas were gorgeous! Skin on fries were fresh! Will definitely come back here either sit in or takeaway! Thank you x

Service was diabolical staff seemed more interested in setting empty tables than serving. Four draught beer on tap all off. This was a Saturday night. Never seen a dessert or coffee menu wasn't offered. Memorable for all the wrong reasons .

Absolutely fabulous food and service tonight in Alba. Over from Dublin to visit family in Melling and were taken here for dinner. It did not disappoint and was such a pleasant experience. Thank you to all the staff and utter compliments to the Chef and the kitchen staff. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

First time at Alba came recommended and wasn't disappointed. Sunday Roast beef dinner was exceptionaly good. Service was also spot on. The feel and look of the restaurent was a pleasant surprise. Very cosy and tastefully decorated. So happy we've discovered this little gem. Will be visiting again shortly.

We had a lovely meal here at the Alba. The starters were nice, but it was the mains and the dessert that were lovely. Particularly the duck main and then the upside down pineapple cake. Service was fine, decour pleasant and prices reasonable.

Bf brought me here for my birthday meal (bit late lol) food was lovely and this was off the set price menu. Decent portion. Bf had the seabass and I had the chicken! Big portion and excellent chios!

Me and my partner went there last night 31st march been wait to go there for ages, lovely enviroment friendly staff from the host to Rachel our waitress to the young lad behind the bar who served us while we wait to be seated and at the end of the night wen we met Sue, food was amazing wine was delicious and service was a good 4 star service in my opinion, could not fault anything but on a personal note didnt think they needed the plastic folaige around the place, besides that it was 10/10 from both of us and we will definately be back soon, keep up the good work guys i reckon this over time will b an amazing place to eat and u never know one or two famous faces could b dining ther soon. Some of these reviews are shocking and tell more about the people writing them than it does the establishment. I have no affiliation to Alba but from a fellow business owner, I don't think some of these people realise just how much resources and risk goes into setting up a new business. The owners have a history of giving to their community and some people are just intent on getting a freebie or they'll put a poor review on Google. Even when genuine mistakes do occur, have none of these people ever made a mistake in their workplace? What is wrong with some people? Well done to the owners for not only their measured, controlled and professional responses (I don't think I could do the same) but also bringing a great offering to the area in difficult times. We'll definitely be visiting very soon.

Great food , lovely friendly service, bathroom needs attention

Meals were first class and the service was incredible

Pub chef trying to be an Italian chef. The place itself is nice, apart from the toilets. As for the food, not great, it's clear the chef was just used to cooking at the Horse and Jockey. Disappointing as it was great to see a restaurant opening up in Kirkby as there isn't any especially an Italian one. Unfortunately won't be going back. It's funny how everyone who puts a bad review is a disruptive customer. Same with trip advisor reviews. Wierd coincidence hey!

Had our first meal here tonight, four adults. It’s not cheap but worth it! All four starters and mains were excellent with great presentation, staff are very pleasant and there is a lovely atmosphere.

Booked online with ease, gorgeous restaurant with fantastic decor. Crisp white table cloths and fresh flowers. Staff were amazing, very polite and attentive. Food was delicious, was able to chose from main menu and specials which was great. Lamb shank was amazing! We decided to book a table yesterday for our daughter visiting from Yorkshire. The booking system was great paid the deposit and received a text and email to confirm booking. Upon arrival we were greeted with 2 lovely ladies that took us to our table explained some dishes were not on the menu but were replaced with other delicious meals. Lovely young waitress looked after us nothing was too much trouble. Now for the food absolutely devine and worth every penny and to be honest I didnt find it expensive at all you certainly pay for top noch quality food and we will certainly be visiting again cannot fault anything. If you have not been try it you wont be disappointed. If I could give more than 5 stars I would for the service food and welcoming atmosphere

Interior is fantastic staff amazing friendly very romantic and personal. Starter was over cooked thru replaced and second time was perfect I got ribs they were big and tender just missed maybe a side dip would of sent them over the edge main I got lamb shank cooked lovely just the mash lacked seasoning lose a star for being Italian and not making own pasta but we will be back
