ROAST DUCK INN in Welwyn Hatfield

I order the beef chow mein and instead got egg fried rice I’ve never had it before and I didn’t like it the dish was quite plain and also the wrong dish, and the dry barbecue rib is quite plain. Sad to say it was a waste of my money. As nice as it looks it was very plain.

Onky one one little gripe, we had 2 large spring rolls, both tasty, but one was only vegetables and a single prawn- the other had meat and prawns. The rest was really good and free prawn crackers- always welcome! Thank you!

Delicious - a massive cut above a normal Chinese restaurant. Fantastic authentic dishes as well.

We no popped in on a whim and were really pleased with the selection of dim sum and authentic food. Will definitely return!

Our favourite Chinese dine-in restaurant. Great authentic food, fast service, family friendly (high chairs and baby changing facilities available). We’ve come to eat in many times for both lunch and dinner - we always leave very full and happy (they have very generous portions!)

Horrible sweet and sour sauce which I had put over all my meal - sorry, threw it all away.

Genuinely the worst food I’ve ever had in my life. The satay chicken turned up stone cold and the roast duck smelt and looked like it had gone out of date. The food was inedible and has been completely thrown away. Avoid at all costs

Food arrived early (no complaints!) as always it’s good quality and decent portion sizes. One of the best Chinese takeaways I’ve had!

Ordered a whole crispy roast duck at 8.00pm. At 9pm a cold, fatty and stodgy portion of duck turned up, minus every other aspect of the order. No pancakes, no sauce, no onion/cucumber. We called the restaurant REPEATEDLY for 30 minutes and they refused to answer before finally closing at 9.30pm One of the worst Chinese experiences I have ever had in my life, the most disgusting slab of fatty gunk and appalling service. Will never order again while I'm still breathing.

I've never encountered a Chinese takeaway who deliver half a duck with no pancakes, no sauce and no onion and then don't answer COUNTLESS phonecalls when we're trying to call. From what we did receive, the *crispy* roast duck is covered in fatty, stodgy cold skin, grease is literally dripping from the container in rivulets and it was nearly enough to put me off of duck forever. I ordered a replacement dinner from New East - they may take an age to deliver but the food is better than this shi..

Absolutely lovely food. Super tasty and plenty of it. Family run business where all the staff are friendly. Highly reccomended just be careful not to over order as portions are very healthy sizes.

Dry Barbecued Spare Rib - very good Kung Po Chicke - very good Beef Chow Mei - no flavor overcooked noodles and burn black part of or something black from pan. First time half gone in to bin. Ordsring from couple years and that was first time.

it was cold. The sweet and sour sauce was like vinegar. The portions were small for the price I've never been asked what size I want my noodles before you order beef chow main the noodles are the size they are not worth the money £41.40 I only ordered from here because my usual Chinese was shut happy valley best in hafield and cheaper and you get more terrible

I really love the food from The Roast Duck but the portion size is really disappointing! £10 for a main in a small container. When I first started ordering from here a couple of years ago the mains were much bigger. Not sure I'll be ordering from here again.

This used to be a really good traditional Cantonese takeaway/restaurant. I loved the traditional dishes which were shown in the restaurant and not on the takeaway menu, so if you’re into traditional stuff, it is better to visit there. But the last few times I ordered takeaway it REALLY put me off. The quality has gone downhill and I lost respect for this place after serving rotten food (which seems to be a theme with Chinese restaurants in this area due to tough times I assume). But I draw the line when it is an actual health hazard! I ordered crabmeat and sweetcorn soup which unlike many restaurants, is served with real crabmeat. But the last time the crab was rotten and had an ammonia smell (which could kill someone). So I called up and they sent a replacement, only for it to still smell of strong ammonia, rotting seafood is NOT a joke! I also noticed the roast duck tasted old in the last orders I made. Very disappointed as I used to love this place. But why put peoples health at risk just to save money? It just shows the little respect that this and other establishments have for customers.

worse meal ever. The cheek from them to hand pick all the fatty pieces of roast pork and duck to the point there was no actual meat in the entire meal is disgusting. If they do not like the 30% offer code and think it is ok to serve these same paying customers the offcuts and pieces they would not be a sell elsewhere and think they can hide it in a takeaway instead, is not how to treat customers especially loyal ones. duck skin rolled up does not detract the fact you did not provide ANY meat

2nd Best BBQ Duck and Pork ever tried in the UK. (Best one in Leeds). Reasonable price and good portions. Got a BBQ takeaway and warm it up at home. Still so crispy! Way better than any shop in London.

( everything else put me off)and the king prawn with garlic sauce? Omg ii sounds so nice when you say it lol....let me tell you ! Mushy, very salty and loads of coating ( flour?) ....so please is a no no no no no.....I did paid 26.90 for what? OMG I DONE THE MISTAKE TO ORDER AGAIN! THE WORST! THE DUCK? Perhaps a bad day for the Chef, I am a regular of more two years but had to return the Singapore friend rice which tasted a bit uncooked and you could taste flour. Also returned the the chilli beef . A replacement was offered for the rice but could not accept it because the quality was just too poor. Did not request a refund to make my disappointment expressly clear.

Most of the food tasted bland.. chicken and mushroom, king prawn chow mein, house special fried rice, BBQ dried ribs, all tasted bland. Lack flavour. I could not eat it

I love ordering takeaway from this restaurant. Food quality and taste is good. My go to meal is the special fried rice (containing shrimp, roast pork, chicken & peas). Sometimes I’ll order vegetarian spring rolls, egg fried rice or chicken chow mein. It’s easy for me to call and order in advance. Food takes about 10-15mins to prepare and ready by the time I come to collect

Have to say I’ve been looking for a decent Chinese for a while, I’ve ordered twice from here now and it’s been nice both times. Came slightly cold but I do live around 2miles away so understandable but I would rather whack it in the microwave for a few mins for a nice Chinese rather than have a close hot one!! Haven’t eaten in yet but would give it a go! The unsuspecting ones always are the best!! Would say give it a try!

Have to say I’ve ordered from here twice now and been really nice both times, not the hottest but I don’t live close so that’s understandable, struggled to find a decent Chinese but this one I’d say worth a go!

This unassuming small restaurant in Hatfield dishes out authentic Chinese food - in particular bbq roast meats. Recommend the stuffed tofu, aubergine and peppers as well (my favourite dish there)

This order was meant to arrive between 18:25 to 18:45, then changed to 19:05, the order arrived at nearly 19:10, the food was cold. I am not happy about this order and paying full price for this.

The only reason it’s 2* and not 1 is because the sweet and sour sauce and noodles were nice. The food was delivered far too quickly.. it was reheated for sure you could tell by the consistency and texture of the food, the chicken felt like hash brown texture.. and the beef was near inedible

Food good as always, however we ordered the BBQ buns, but that's not what was delivered. They were buns but tasted completely different.

Tofu with vegetables was in a tasteless slimy sauce. The rest was okay but generic. We need to accept that there is no fresh, good quality Chinese in oir area.

The food is absolutely delicious, roast duck, salt & pepper squid, pe pa tofu, noodles, aubergine in black bean sauce, special rice, beef brisket, sweet and sour pork, garlic stir fried veg, all amazing and exceeded expectations. Been here alone, with family and as couple. It’s simple basic but clean, that’s all you need. Prices are quite high, but it evens out to the taste and quality, portion, aslong as it doesn’t rise any more. Better than paying loads and small portions like some places. Highly recommend a try! We don’t live in the area but definitely visit every 1-2 months.
