Road Trip in Hackney

Turned up on Saturday at about 1am - thought it would be ok as I heard it was open till 4. We actually built this into our plan as someone recommended the place to us. Unfortunately we were met with strange, aggressive door staff who asked whether we had had a drink already and when we replied “a couple” he said “no you’ve had too much to drink”, which wasn’t remotely true and quite rude in the circumstances. He could have just said “sorry lads we are not letting people in after 12” or something like that. I’m sure some people do turn up drunk and shouldn’t be let in but it just seemed an excuse not to let two blokes in (perhaps it was perceived there were too many men in there already or something) but the manner of the interaction left a sour taste in the mouth. We weren’t the only ones - a group of four veteran blokes in front of us were turned away also. Very strange and disappointing.

Great service by ozzie and pk, very professional and fun! Good prices for drinks and nice fresh food will be back!

Great quirky little place. Chilled during the day for a nice lazy lunch. Busy and vibrant at night for some drinking and music

Everyone in this place is rude and weird. The staff on the door are friendly and kind but there are a) too many security guards considering how many people there are in the venue (none!) and b) weird men who are way too old shouting at everyone for no reason. Everyone smiled until we got a drink and then they out of nowhere started screaming at us to sit down, not to go outside, they took our drinks out of our hands and put their hands on me to move me from the bar to the seats when I am a 5”3 female and they are a 6”2 man. This was because they said it was “unsafe” to be stood up. They screamed, shouted and argued for no reason. The worst was a mixed race/light skin security guard in a du rag about 5”10. He shouted for no reason and undermined his colleagues who were monitoring the room. Music is dead. They played Taio Cruz and Tinie Tempah.

Guy in his 50s in the queue behind us was clearly looking for a fight. Came up and heard our Irish accents and started threatening my partner asking where we were all from. Started to go for him and had to be held back by his friends to stop him swinging (at relativly sober people hust having a chat ourselves). We left the queue a little shaken (and had some lovely lovely clientele come and chat to us and ask if we were okay). We watched as a bouncer came and spoke to him, friends still banging on his chest trying to calm him down at this point. He had to be told off in the queue for trying to start a fight in full view of the bouncers and then we watched as he was allowed in. My partner had a quiet chat with the bouncer about how aggressive the guy had been and how unproked it had been just warning him to keep an eye on him for the sake of the next person he picked on. Bouncer looked like he felt sorry for us having our night ruined but his only reply was "look I'm not a babysitter". At that point we figured we knew all we needed to know about how rough the club was permitted to get and were glad we had decided not to go in.

Cool place, having been to some dive bars in places like Vegas, they've recreated that vibe pretty well. Was passing on a Friday night for the first time in years so stopped in for a few beers, covered outside area a big plus, as is early evening happy hour! Staff friendly.

I went the other day. The IPA was nice enough, staff were friendly and place had a nice vibe. Is also has a covered outside area which is a huge plus during these odd times when we have to drink outdoors in the cold English summer. I was intrigued as to how it would be reviewed on TripAdvisor and their low ranking is ridiculous. Regardless of my good experience, I will go again purely for the wonderful responses from management to some very unfair reviews. Please keep them up, they made me giggle. And if anyone else goes to Roadtrip and feel the reviews are unfair then I’m sure that if you can write a nice one then would make a big difference given the huge hit our hospitality industry has taken

Approach as a group of guys: "Sorry we don't allow groups of more than 5 guys in".

Not a single rock song played. when asked , DJ said "what , do you want me to play ACDC all night" haha shocking considering England is the birth place of a great many rock bands. expect venga boys and the like

We didn’t realise this was a full Vegan Restaurant when we initially looked at the menu but it looked amazing! After ordering we realised it was 100% vegan food as stated at the top of the menu ... which somehow we over looked in hunger. The food was absolutely amazing! We both had the Cuban Sandwich with Potatas Bravas as a shared side. Staff are very friendly and it’s got a great atmosphere! Would definitely come again

Ordered burger chips and pint, chips been forgotten to be put in the system, after it wasn’t possible to order more because run out but after other tables got theirs...

I booked a table for my Boyfriends 30th Birthday to watch the Liverpool game, A very large area was reserved which was great! (12 of us) Deposit was paid straight back over the bar on arrival and the staff were so friendly ! Little slow on serving (in fact very slow) but they have been new. But i have to say we were so happy with our experience and we'll 100% be back .

So I went looking for a sports bar to watch the F1 and after a few blow outs arrived here. Staff were really nice and changed the largest tv over for me. Beer taste test offered and beer nice and cold. Had to listen to quite a few pretty loud punk songs mid afternoon on a Sunday and no sound on the tv but felt like a pretty good vibe

I came here for after work leaving drinks for a colleague of mine. The happy hour 2 for 1 drinks I ordered were vile, way too strong and badly made. The young looking girl behind the bar admitted she’s new to this and I basically had to instruct her on making new drinks. As the original drinks weren’t consumable I understood the replacements would be free of charge. However, when I was sitting down finally enjoying my drink the girl came over with a card machine and said shes sorry but she has to charge me! Ridiculous. Because of her incompetency and inexperience at making drinks I had to pay?? Never going back and I don’t advise people bother with this place if they want quality drinks and service.

Great evening in this bar. Drinks and atmosphere great. Well worth a visit when in the Old Street Area.

A fun place with good music some of the time!!! The crowd wasn’t the best with some lairy characters and took a very long time to get to the bar.

Estamos en la ciudad para el juego de los Raiders / Seahawks NFL este fin de semana y es la noche del jueves. Queremos ver TNF pero en Londres, eso significa viernes a la 1: 20 am. No ha sido fácil encontrar un lugar cerca de donde nos alojamos en Shoreditch. Por recomendación del personal de Craft Beer en la calle y con la confirmación del sitio web de que estarían jugando, nos dirigimos a Roadtrip. No en ninguno de los televisores cuando llegamos, pero cuando preguntamos si lo jugarían, el personal fue muy servicial. ! Es realmente una clase de club nocturno a esta hora; así que el fútbol americano no tiene una lista de reproducción de videos típica de los jueves Así que junto con un DJ realmente fabuloso tocando éxitos de los 80 s; ¡Pusieron el juego en uno de los grandes televisores para nosotros! ! ! ¡Realmente impresionante! ! ! ! ¡Diez pulgares para el equipo en Roadtrip! ! !

Visité este bar hace algún tiempo porque un amigo mío estaba reservado para tocar allí en una noche de música; así que fue un poco decepcionante cuando llegamos afuera para descubrirlo como más un bar deportivo que un lugar real. El personal fue grosero desde el principio: casi me negué a volver a entrar por dejar mi identificación abajo mientras iba a descargar cosas de la camioneta, ¡aunque le dije al portero que me vio irme y me observó todo el tiempo!

Visitamos este bar para tomar bebidas viendo uno de los partidos de la copa mundial. Todo estaba bien hasta que de repente cambió nuestra orden de bebidas. Red Bull que estábamos bebiendo vodka así que cada bebida que te dan la lata de Red Bull y luego la sólo necesitamos un vodka. Después de 90 minutos de que el azar decidió comenzar cualquier vertido de heces de latas de Red Bull abrió plana que tenían en el suelo detrás de la barra en nuestra copa y se negó a darnos la puede pero tuve la audacia para intentar cobrar el mismo precio de £2. 49 por bull plana color rojo cálido es un cachondeo total y nos fuimos después de esto sucedió dejando 2 bebidas en la mesa. El tipo del bar se cuestionó por qué, de repente cambiaron y él simplemente se encogió y dijo "porque eso es lo que es "sí bueno, entonces ¡hasta pronto! ! ! No visitar las señoras loo o a menos que estuvieran en peligro de explosión.

Visited for late night drink after seeing Nick Cave at all points east.

I’ve visited this once before and had some issues but decided to give it another go this weekend. What a mistake I made. First time visiting the place wasn’t busy but there was a feeling it was dirty. My main big bear though was being overcharged. Could have been a genuine error and fortunately I was sober so noticed. The reason for my latest visit was to watch a football match. It was clearly advertised on the chalk board at the entrance that it was being shown. We found a seat and noticed the rugby was on but not too many people were paying attention to it. However I went to the bar and specifically asked if the football would be on as the rugby was being played and the pub fairly full. So you can guess what happened at kick off time as the rugby stayed on. I went to the bar to be told the football wouldn’t be on. I commented to the girl at the bar that it would have been nice to be told and that it was advertised that the football would be on. No apology came and she questioned when I had asked about the game being played.The issue here isn’t with the rugby being on (or left on) but the fact that the pub was quite happy to have £20 worth of drinks off me until the build up, pretty shoddy customer service and left me trying to find the game whilst it was being played. Add to that my clothes stinking of frying oil and unfortunately I won’t ever be returning. Much better places can be found in this area. Avoid this one

Even though the bar was closed for a staff night off, Kris went out of his way to meet me and return my purse, which I had left there by mistake. Very grateful.

Me encanta este pub! He estado aquí muchas veces y no tengo ninguna mala experiencia con personal. Es un buen lugar para tomar una copa con unos amigos por la tarde y volver después de todos los lugares ha sido el cierre. No he comido allí, ya que cambiaron el menú griego.

Absoultly terrible customer service. The so called manager who looked like he was high as a kite couldn't even string an apology together for complaint of paid for food that didn't arrive due to staff error. Refund was relunctly given, even though the food still hadn't arrived!! We left disgruntled with a sarcastic wave from the manager who was smoking directly outside the entrance. London and visitors avoid at all costs.

Amigos del trabajo y yo fuimos a viaje por carretera para unos tragos anoche. Pasamos una noche aquí con el personal del bar cordial y sin problemas de ningún tipo.

Bebidas finas, mi hamburguesa, pizza terrible de mal amigo!

El camarero me dio una factura de 5 libra, sabiendo que era un turista que no podía pasar a otro sitio. Cuando nos reunimos con nuestros amigos de Londres más tarde en la noche te preguntan donde me dieron la moneda antigua. Yo era un poco sospechoso de la barman cuando mi cambio vinieron desde debajo del hasta no. Evitar este lugar.

I have been there many times, and I never got an outstanding service. The worst moment was when I tried to get there and while being with a mixed group of people (something I find completely unfair - some other would find it machist), we weren't able to enter by being in a 3/2 ratio boys/girls, something terrible!! And the bouncers laughing about out pledges was the pinch. Amazing customer service, guys... There are plenty of places that offer the same than you and aren't this nutsy, Good luck with this same approach.

Estábamos acercando al final de una noche de despedida en el este de Londres y quería terminar la noche con unas copas en un bar guay con buena música. Una búsqueda de Google dieron pocas opciones, de las cuales recorrido parecía genial, con una ubicación práctica demasiado "Rock & Roll bar" dijeron. . .

Terrible olor sale del inodoro y disperso por todo el bar.

Teníamos el desayuno vegetariano ofrecidas en los fines de semana. Comida llegó rápidamente y sabor agradable y el chef fue lo suficientemente amable para sustituir la tostada con más berenjena. No es demasiado caro!

this place is open late mid week. The drinks are reasonably priced. good vide, feels very safe. there is interesting artwork in the gents loos. Good outside area. My biggest gripe I have is that they charge you 50p to use your card. Which is probably going to stop me spending about £40 a time there.

Come in on my own as staying at near by hotel. Food was ok - fish and chips. Beer not cheap, but had football on, but no sound though. Convenient as local, but I wouldn't rush back.

I have been coming to Roadtrip for years! There are not enough terraces in the area, so this is the best choice on a warm day. The drink selection is good (they even have a local cider on tap) and the food is good value. Burgers are juicy and the thin crust pizzas are good to share. Recently, I have discovered that they have a basement venue downstairs too! Most of the shows are free entry and it is quite a fun plan with friends. Staff have always been friendly. Will keep coming back!

Keep it simple. Staff don't speak English well enough to work in this industry. Food hit and miss. Reasonable choice of drinks.

Where to go for brunch on a Sunday, I did spend a fair time looking around to find that most places are closed. I did eventually stumble on to Road trip. A cool looking place selling the best brunch around, really!I go in to get some service as clearly the only member of staff near me is the chef having a cigarette. I go in order my flat white & a full English & wait.It does not take long for my tepid coffee to arrive, this is a universal problem at the moment, coffee everywhere seems to come no hotter than the blood in my veins. I drink this in 5 seconds to stop it freezing. The breakfast arrives, looks impressive, 4 rashers bacon, 2 sausages, 2 eggs, beans etc. all very tasty apart from the sausages are colder than my coffee. definitely worth a re-visit, just needs a little more TLC from the staff & it will be a winner all the way for brunch.

I went there after reading about it - but as the atmosphere it didn't meet my expectations. (but it was a midday, and almost entirely empty - it has the potential to be better at evening). The waitress was not that friendly but the food was delicious! I only had a salad - salasparagus, but it might be the best salad I've ever had.

This is such a conveniently located spot that I've gravitated here many times. Its a nice vibe on a rainy Sunday. Its weird on a Friday night. It has awful service on a Saturday. I mean, its hard to really get a feel, but its got booze and when that's all you need then who cares right? Its wildly decorated, I swear I see something new each time. The beer its funky from the tap so I'd go with a bottle or a cocktail. Overall its a good place and I'll keep coming!!

Stumbled across this on the way to a gig - the decor and decorations were great however the service and food was well below average. Our food took over 35minutes to come out - pizza and a ciabatta - and our friends shepherds pie took well over 45minutes to arrive, and when it did it was small and flavourless.I imagine if you're after a drink this place would be fine, but for food go elsewhere. Wait staff didn't speak English, so enquiries about how far away our food would be was met with a blank stare and walking away rather than offering any help.

Briefly spent time in this pub for a few drinks but a general disappointment must be highlighted.At the entrance, the bouncer will ask to check your pockets (airport-style) besides the ID. We mainly stayed inside, ground level; downstairs there was a live session (£6 entrance).At the ground level, "TopHits" music with DJ, ambience set for informal dates or couples going out with friends without having to dress up. Service ok, men's toilets definitely quite small.I cannot find big fails but not even features to stand out of the crowd, certainly it's not an exclusive venue. it may be just fine for pre-drinks only.

Stopped in for a beer, nice selection but kitchen wss not open. Early in the evening so it was very dead, I'm staying close but I'm not sure if I will go back, I did enjoy the music selection.

Not had a great experience here, drinks were ok to start and then tried to order food, they didnt put it through properly, got the order wrong, the guy cooking was rude, no good service and no smiles, food was awful, will not be back.

Came here for a birthday gathering and just had drinks (no food). Venue itself is okay. Wide array of drinks, but pretty expensive IMO. We a few tables reserved for the group but a short time into the night a staff member told me to move from a table as they were removing it for the night. At this moment I happened to be seated alone there while a few were smoking outside or going to the restroom and about 5 of their drinks were on the table. I pleaded with her to let us stay until they returned to pick them up as we had JUST bought all these drinks and I couldn't hold them all myself. She was very rude about it even after i explained they would be right back and it was the birthday boy who had reserved all these tables. It was very clear we had just spent a pretty penny to buy all these drinks and had reserved tables for a large party, but it felt like we weren't valued customers. Finally she agreed, but it left a bad taste in my mouth and I would never come here again.

Went here one evening for a drink and burger. Smeller very much like toilet cleaner. Also a box of rat poison under where we were sitting. bar man grumpy. Beef burger with cheese nice and well cooked -Really good quality beef. My partners Cajun chicken burger was pink and not great. Music Good. Drinks reasonable- 2 for £10 for cocktails and two beers for a fiver.Probably wouldn't rush back there but it's ok for a cheap burger and beer

Booked for Super Bowl. No draught beer after 12. They ran out of food and worst of all there was no sound from the game. We left very early and watched the rest of the game at home. There are basic things a bar should get right but this one doesn't deliver. Avoid.

Non lo consiglio per mangiare anche se non abbiamo mangiato male, ma più adatto per bere ed ascoltare musica. Ambiente bello e vivace, pieno di gente ed aperto fino a tardi, non male. Prezzi nella norma.

Much better selection of bars in the area. But it's open remarkably late 5,30am+ which is its main selling point in my eyes as most places close by 2 nearby

No glamour, little atmosphere. The owner tried for edgy artistic and ended up with dirty and dull.Plenty of great independents in the area which actually do something original. Nice outdoor area but on a main road so never going to be that attractive. Nothing to see here.
