Such a great location right on the Den almost, great to sit and watch the world go by. I am giving a score of 3 because the baguette I ordered was a part baked baguette that was served to me unbaked, buttered and filled, for £8, not cheap, when queried I was assured it was baked, it wasn’t anyone could see that, I was offered a refund, which I declined, as its run by volunteers, however, you can’t sell under cooked food!, my advice is order a toasted baguette, unless you like raw rolls!

Really enjoyed our lunch 10/10 for food ,the young man who took our order was new in role but clearly trying hard .Cleanliness in ladies toilets was not very good , which is normally a standard for me when I imagine cleanliness in a kitchen.

Came here on a cold, sunny afternoon for High Tea. Wow, it was not only bloomin gorgeous but also loads of food. Couldn't manage it all and had to take some cake home with me, which I'm eating while I'm writing this review! Everything is homemade, the sandwich fillings more than generous, the scones are to die for with plenty of cream and jam and the frangipane tart I chose has really crisp pastry and took me back to my childhood when my mum used to bake it. I can most definitely recommend this beautiful tearoom if you're looking for a traditional home baked cream tea. Will most definitely be returning. Thank you so much to the friendly staff aswell.

We really enjoyed the gluten free fruit scones and particular credit to the cafe as we were told they were homemade. Also, the setting is lovely and full of character and well worth visiting.

What a waste of money. We had a ‘high tea’. Two very small slices of toasted bread with little filling on top A VERY STALE scone !!!! And very old lemon cake. Don’t waste your money. !!!!! I’m not sure how long those cakes were actually baked. I’m assuming a lot lot longer than we have been in Devon !!

We had to ask three times today for our table to be cleaned, each time the person said yes but never appeared ! It's even more important at the moment. The clothes used we're left on a table and reused several times, surely they should discard a cloth when used ?

This cream tea was so good we didn’t have time to take photos! We stumbled across this lovely building on our way to the beach and had to pop in. The scones were beautiful and clearly home made, with generous portions of jam and cream. Lovely varied menu and very reasonably priced. The staff are volunteers, but could not have been more helpful and even recommended some more beaches for us to try. We plan to return to try the savoury scones!

We popped in here to shelter from a short sharp shower mid morning. My wife opted for toasted tea cake and I had a cream tea for one with a glass of milk. It was "Eat out to Help out" time. Our bill was £3.50 !!!!! AND...... the scones were divine. We recommend a visit when in the area.

We had a very wet day on our break in dawlish and whilst visiting Teignmouth we came across this tea room. The outside looked a little run down and didn’t give the inside justice. There was 8 of us and we were quickly set up with 2 tables side by side. We had some lovely cream teas and chocolate cakes. Bargain with the eat out scheme too. Lovely service and would recommend.

Came upon this tea room by chance when wandering along the promenade and so glad we decided to stop there for lunch. The staff were wonderful and made us feel so welcome. They had lots of vegetarian choices and an absolutely delicious cream tea. The baguettes were lovely and the price was extremely reasonable. We were sorry we found it late in our holiday as we would have liked to go back.

We were attracted to the building which used to be a cinema, but is now used as a church, with a very pleasant tea room in the foyer. The staff, most of whom are volunteers were very friendly and efficient, and the cream teas that we had were amazing, the scones were warm from the oven, served with delicious jam and clotted cream. A cream tea for two was £7, which was very good value. Thank you, we really enjoyed it.

I regularly visit as the staff are simply the best! Excellent espresso, nice relaxed but warm ambience. Great to sit in the sun any time of the year as its' huge outside space faces south. Located in the town but near the beach and the Den (green) it is perfectly placed. Home-made food which is delicious. Best value in town.

Enviable position overlooking the gardens and the not so "Grand Pier" for this exceptional tea room. Its previous lives this building, (apart from being a one time derilict eyesore) was an impressive cinema, and laterlly, a music bar. Now a much more sedate and attractive tea rooms style cafe. this enterprise has, connections with a local church group, who volunteer to run this charming tea room. With a relaxing 1920 -30's look to it, the teas and especially their cream teas justify a trip here. Very good cakes and scones. Certainly worth futher investigation and another cream tea.

A wet windy day in Teignmouth, I popped in for a quiet coffee & cake. It’s very peaceful, with quiet background music. Friendly lady served me, really good sized 2 shot Americano with hot milk. I was tempted by freshly baked flapjack £2 - huge! Nice atmosphere, comfortable chairs & a slightly “retro” décor. You really can’t go wrong! They do some nice cooked food too. Recommend.

After taking a stroll along the Promenade to the entrance of the harbour and back on a blustery afternoon, we were gasping for an afternoon cup of tea. The nearest welcoming sign opposite where we had parked was that of The Riviera Tearooms so we hastened across into it's welcoming warmth. The staff were friendly and the teas were delicious. Noticing a bit of the architecture, it took us but a few minutes to realise that this was not a converted hotel as we had first thought but a revamped old cinema.

The special Christmas Full Afternoon Tea was absolutely amazing. We started with open sandwiches which had very innovative flavours, followed by little savoury tarts which were to die for. Little cheesecakes were especially nice. Definitely great value for the money as we got more than we could eat. Highly recommended.

We went for our friends baby shower. We had booked weeks in advance. The food was of poor quality, the sponges were “fresh” but were so dry - mine even had a hair in. The egg custard tarts hardly had any filling in and the carrot cake didnt even have any frosting on. The sandwiches were poorly presented they looked like they had been cut with a blunt knife and were tasteless. When we asked for more spoons to eat out deserts with we were told we had already got spoons - these were the teaspoons we had for our tea and coffees when we had arrived. We were then given 3 spoons for the 7 of us. Don’t get me started on the staff. They were grumpy rude and not interested in resolving our issues like the lack of spoons and the 6 carrot cakes for the party of 7. Considering we had booked weeks in advance they hadn't even managed to cater for the correct number of people in the party. Would we go again.....definitely NOT. Both the food and service was appalling. We should have stuck with what we know but wanted to try somewhere more central to us all.

Completely disappointed after my friends had gone to so much trouble of organising a baby shower for me as a surprise. My friends had booked this months in advance and on the day the staff were checking dietary requirements as they weren’t sure. Even after lots of emails back and forth. There wasn’t enough cakes for everyone and when pointed out to the staff that this was the case, she shrugged and said well that’s all we have made and then walked off. Not to mention that when we actually did sample one of the cakes there was a long hair in it , plus it was very dry and tasted as though it was made days ago. The egg custard tarts had hardly egg custard in them and was taken up with mostly pastry. Obviously this was very off putting. Sandwiches looked as though they had been made by a child. Presentation was awful. We also had to use our dessert spoons to stir our tea and coffee, after asking quite a few times we still didn’t get any teaspoons. We were offered take away boxes for the food that wasn’t eaten, needless to say we didn’t take much. The staff did not care at all. Service was appalling and had such a bad attitude. We have explained our disappointment to the manager/owner over emails and we even filled out a feed back form before we left on the day. Nothing has been done. Won’t be going back and definitely won’t recommend.

As usual, a warm welcome from The Nobody Inn on a snowy night. Fought our way through literally 4 cms of snow to go to the Beaujolais Nouveau event. This new wine was matched with a classic Boeuf Bourguignon. Both perfect. The temperature from the cosy fire and the welcome were both warm. Some locals in the pub rescued us and pushed us out of the snow drifts - very pleased to join the other guests. Always been a great pub.

Nice place - had breakfast here a few months ago and it was great. Back in the area today looking to do 30 minutes work with a coffee (quiet inside with lots of seats available) and was told when my coffee was delivered that no laptops were allowed. This is not signposted anywhere and I did not feel welcome, even with my laptop closed. Left without drinking the coffee and went to Cafe Latino where I was much more welcome, they offered the Wi-Fi password and the coffee was great. Probably won't come back to The Old Library, which is a shame!
