Riverside Tea Rooms in Northumberland

A gem. We stumbled across this café and couldn't have been happier with our food and service. Will definitely be back. Beautiful walks nearby along the river and saw Roman wall. You won't be disappointed.

Visit here often. This is the best cafe in the Hexham area. Staff are lovely, food and excellent and huge portions. Dog friendly and can't fault it.

We went for lunch and had a very enjoyable meal. The staff were friendly and helpful. The good was well presented and tasted as good as it looked. Would recommend and shall certainly go again.

A great stop on the way to and from Newcastle,the service is excellent as is their keich and scones and cakes. Instead of using the A69 busy road take a leisurely drive on the Roman road and make a stopover here you will not be disappointed.

We stopped here by chance as we really wanted to use the loo on our way to see Hadrian’s wall. The quiches on display looked amazing so we decided to stop for lunch. So glad we did. We had warmed quiche with salad, chicken and chorizo salad and cheddar savoury. Everything tasted fresh, home made and most importantly delicious. Plus the service was very friendly. The cakes looked good but we had no space left so we took some away.

A friend visited the restaurant and we jointly put this review together… as she brought me back a generous slice of breakfast quiche…Wow, it was amazing, a full English breakfast in a quiche. It was stuffed full of breakfast goodies and was absolutely delicious.

Found this little cafe on the way to Hadrians wall. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Food was good and had decent sized portions. Would recommend for anyone on readying themselves for a walk on the wall.

We have eaten here a few times and called in for a takeaway today you always get a warm welcome and a smile and the food is lovely.

Absolutely wonderful place. The food we had was delicious (veggie salad, jacket potatoes, gorgeous cakes) and the service was fab.

This was a gorgeous spot for lunch. Initially we had planned on just having a coffee but the atmosphere and counter filled with huge portions of bacon and egg pie, scones and muffins made us change our mind very quickly. One of the things I really liked was the generous-sized tables which were well spaced out in the cafe so that you didn’t feel you were cramped or sitting on top of other customers. The waitresses were friendly and attentive - smiles count for such a lot and they welcomed us as we walked through the door. We had the baked potato served with cheese, crisps, salad, coleslaw and chutney for under £8 - and tomato soup and a hearty prawn sandwich. I would like to thank the staff for making this such a pleasurable stop. The ploughman’s also looked very tempting so I will have to return one day!

We were looking of somewhere for coffee and scones with friends and found this lovely cafe just over the bridge at Chollerford. What we found was a wonderful display of home baking in the form of pies, cakes, and other lovely treats. We had the Ploughman’s sausage roll and wow, what a lovely filling it was. Generous and very tasty. Prices are also very reasonable so all in all a great find and one that we will definitely revisit when we are visiting Wark next time. Well worth a visit if passing or living close bye.

Lovely restaurant with excellent food. The quiche, sandwiches, and salads were all tasty. It all seemed homemade. The desserts looked excellent as well.

Stopped for a drink and cup of tea, returned for an early supper. Amazing salad, excellent friendly service, excellent value for money. Only wish we didn’t have to leave so early tomorrow or we would have had breakfast there. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant.
