First time visiting there. I loved it

It was fine, Price was quite high, At least give me ketchup instead of charging 35p per satchet !

Nice place by the river. Worth a visit.

The waiter was very friendly, the space is cozy and with good views of the river ... Very charming place ! The potatoes were nice , I didn't like the pie of chicken and mushroom so much .

Not dog friendly. Which is very disappointing as we waited to sit outside and enjoy the area but we're not allowed. We had to go elsewhere.

If you have Coeliac's Disease or any food allergy please avoid this place at all costs. Asked about gluten-free and was advised that their gluten-free pan was not safe for Coeliacs due to cross-contamination and that they 'don't do allergies'. The others in my group were able to order food but thought it just okay and it was noticeable that other people left with large amounts of uneaten food. The only toilet was not clean and in need of a few repairs. Only tried as Tuckers closed early. Xx

Me and my husband have been coming here for a couple of years we came on Monday 17th of Feb at 4.30 for Mini fish and chips and peas to eat in we had to wait 20 minutes when it arrived it was on a polystyrene tray we expected it to be on a plate with a knife and fork not just a plastic fork we was very disappointed and we used to rate you 10/10 now we rate you 5/10 is it under new Management

Food was decent enough but the service was absolutely shocking. All the staff looked incredibly annoyed to be there and lacked any form of manners even in the simplest terms.

Said it was open on google and all closed up when we arrived at 6pm, when google says open 11am-9pm everyday. Tried a couple of times. Very disappointing as we travelled here for the Gluten free fish and chips and had to rush and try and find somewhere else that we could eat then.

Lovely haddock and chips today. Friendly staff. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Right by the river. The chips were freshly cooked. Highly recommended 👌 👍 👏 💯

Didn’t accommodate for my friends nut allergy according to him “don’t do allergies here”.

Worker refused to show allergy menu was really rude and said we don’t do allergies here

Went to Riverside Fish bar 2hrs before they closed. Had very little options. Only offer what ever was left. They got our order wrong (fish and chups with a sausage on side). Then while we was sat down they turned the lights off and on repeatedly. Staff being very childish and laughing about it but my Mrs I am with has epilepsy and could have set her off.

I can see why this place is popular. The chips were really good, and the mozzarella sticks were cooked to order and, as a result, they were "proper" mozzarella sticks. Not like plastic, rock hard ones you get at fast food places.

We cannot fault Riverside Fish Bar. Friendly and attentive staff, really good prices (£7.50 for a very reasonably sized fish, chips and gravy to sit in and eat).

The quality of the food is a 10/10. Yet incredibly unfriendly. We all have bad days but it certainly isn't the customers fault and to this lady behind the counter, you aren't doing the customers a favour by serving them. Hope the rest of your week went better.

Chef was really rude as soon we get in the place rushed throw ordering even if there was no one in line and was throwing things around in the presents of customers in kitchen. Also having dispute between co worker. Will not be going back to this place ever again.

Discovered this place when we had a walk into Matlock Bath in the summer. It's fantastic to know they serve gluten free chips at any time, rather than it being on a specific day. The staff were pleasant and sorted out two different requests (one gluten free, one Muggle), with plenty of salt and vinegar available. My wife had gravy on hers, but I'm unsure if a GF option is offered. Next time we go I'll find out and ask about sausages and other things that may have changed. They have a sit-down café / restaurant if you fancy a more relaxed meal with proper plates and cutlery, with an outside seating area. We had ours to take out and it was enjoyable to walk along the side of the river with a tray of chips - just like the old days!

Food was great, younger staff were lovely, place was clean, but one member of staff was exceptionally rude, kept cutting us off during our order, pulling faces at things we said, at one point whilst we were waiting for our food next to the tray that they were putting our food on, she said to other customers “I’d serve you but they are stood in the way, so I’m just waiting for them to move” as if she hadn’t specifically placed our tray there, we obviously moved, and but still stood waiting, she then told us we had all our things which we didn’t, and a younger member of staff came over and gave us the last of it, just really uncomfortable and strange, really rude from the offset, we were polite and calm with her didn’t react and she was just really off putting, there’s plenty of fish n chips in matlock you can miss out on riverside, you might as well go to Karen cafe

Great fish and chips, 10 out of 10

Late afternoon when we went in, only had chips but brought to the table and they were hot and with some crunch

I always go here when in Matlock Bath. It is always busy as it has a great choice of food and drink They have plenty of staff on hand but it is a very busy place so expect to queue.

The chips looked like they was from the bottom of the bag. Luke warm at best I've seen bigger fish in pets at home. Not worth the money at all. The kids meals the sausage was nasty and almost cold. The nuggets the meat inside was brown wish I'd of gone to Charles now

The food was acceptable, the disgruntled member of staff slamming drinks on to the counter and complaining about being there was not.

FISH & CHIPS £6.50 WHERE ELSE COULD YOU GO.

Mint chippy number 1 place in Matlock bath in my opinion , cod is perfect every time

Stopped here for tea before we went to the illuminations very nice gluten free fish and chips only lost a star due to the toilet it's not the best and I really wouldn't have been able to get my wheelchair bound girlfriend in there as it was like a broom cupboard

Never been, if you see this place look directly opposite CHARLIES is the best chip shop in Matlock Bath. That's where I was having fish and chips and a cool pint of Johm Smiths!!!!

Food is ok ,they do a mini portion of fish and chips .just average nothing to shout about .

Late evening stroll around Matlock Bath, great fish and chips. Sat outside by the river staff efficient and friendly although charging for sauce after paying £12 is a bit of a letdown.

It's a must stop for us when we visit matlock! Never have to wait long to be served and the food is always really nice. With 2 kids they enjoy having something different each time and they'll ask if we're going to THE chippy, even they know we only have from the riverside.

"Summer driving to Matlock Bath is a joy!" My middle son exclaimed."It's so beautiful!" You should really enjoy this drive. The verdant bucolic forest is a delight to view as you drive up to Matlock. And you can point out the different types of trees to your children. Common Ash, Oak, Poplar, European Beech, Sycamore Maple, Crack Willow, etc. are just a few species you can point out. Riverside Fish Bar is amongst the most "popular" in Matlock Bath, as you can see. The staff are super friendly and will go out of their way to help you. Try the Haddock, Chips and Mushy peas. Delicious!

If someone eats oil-covered fish and chips, he or she has it in a minute, but the wait to choose another dish is very long. And the worst thing is the lack of any seasoning, not even salt for the fries

Nice place has good reviews there is seating outside as well. There is river Derwent behind so when you are sitting outside you can see and the view is so calming you can sit there and relax after having a nice meal. I guess it will get busy on certain days we were there on a weekday, and it was evening so not many people.

Food was nice but the lady who served me was very rude and barely listened to a word I said and served me more food than I'd asked for. my partner heard me clear as day and was sat down at a distant table.

Fantastic fresh cooked cod and chips and brought to our table.

Very nice chip shop, right in the river front with indoor and outdoor seating. The food was brought out to us after a short time. Battered sausage and chips made without fault. Staff were very nice. Parking can be found in small quantities by the roadside, or plenty a short walk from the train station. There's also a fun confectionery shop next door.

Huge, piece of fish considering it was supposed to be a mini fish and chips. The chicken burger was delicious and again huge. It was made with breast of chicken not that horribly minced stuff and was coated in a light slightly seasoned batter. It also came with a can of drink of your choice. It's a lovely location overlooking the river and the seating inside is nice and comfortable. Considering a meal for the 2 of us came to £13.80 I don't think anyone could complain about the value for money. We got a friendly welcome on entering and the service was great. We will return if in the area.

We eat here every time we’re in Matlock, but yesterday has put me off any meat or fish, we went with friends, sat outside and ordered fish and chips, and nuggets, anyone who had chips is fine but anyone who had nuggets or fish are throwing their guts up today, really disappointed.

I absolutely love this place, good hot food and a happy atmosphere. My last visit. Prices have shot up drastically,my latest visit..26.05.24 seemed to be lacking in customer service . Shame really

Spot on everytime we come! Staff are always welcoming and smiley! We don’t come too often. Me and my partner like to come to Matlock Bath for our anniversary every year. Finishing with cod & chips before we head back home. We always have to wait for the cod which is the best news so we know it’s fresh and piping. Never disappointed. Very clean, warm atmosphere

Had gluten free fish and chips fried in a separate fryer. Also for anyone who wants halal you can ask for the gluten free fish and chips as they’re fried in vegetable oil in a separate pan. Was £7 for mini chips fish and peas. Drinks and sauces all reasonable priced. Good value and very fresh hot and tasty food served.

Had a huge lovely cod. It was cooked perfect. Definitely recommend this place.

Quite a few fish and chip shops in Matlock bath to choose from, so when we chose Riverside fish bar for our freshly cooked cod chips and peas we made the right choice, absolutely delicious.

We always use this 1 because the staff are good happy and do not dither..great tasty fish and chips see you soon

Ordered a mini fish and large fish meals. The batter was soggy and the fish was tough, chips were under cooked and mostly green or from bruised potatoes. For the price you pay it wasnt worth it

Excellent Haddock chips and curry sauce.

Not what it used to be. Ordered: Mini fish n chips with curry sauce £6.50 Large chips, cod + curry sauce £12.30 Considering the price difference there was very minimal difference in portion size. Might as well have saved £6 and got another mini. Not freshly cooked. Food came out within a minute of sitting down. When ordering I was looking at the fish that looked like it had been sat for a while and that is what we got. Chips were alright. The curry sauce however was lovely. Staff didn't seem too bothered, floors slippy, toilets dark and dingy. Unfortunately won't be coming here next time.

It was great to find a chip shop/café that does gluten free, poached cod! Beautifully cooked and a generous size! My partner had battered fish n chips with curry sauce - massive fish! A warm, friendly welcome on arrival. They have a bar, so alcoholic drinks available too. Toilets available upstairs. Great decor! Would recommend a visit.

It's a fast food eat in out, not the best around there. The best is over the road called Charlie's eat-in. If you can get in now, that is a five-star place.

Very nice restaurant where you can eat the traditional english meal of chips and fried fish. Very well located and with a very beautiful view.

Food was ok but the cleanliness of the place leaves a lot to be desired. Tables all dirty, seating looking very tiered and stuck together with tape which was peeling off. The toilet was absolutely disgusting , not sure if it had been cleaned in the last few years by the looks and smell of it, little black flies flying around the toilet. The staff looked like they hadn’t washed their uniform for some time either and all but one were not interested in customer service and disinterested in anything other than chatting to each other. Was going to ask for a refund but couldn’t really complain too much about the food. Hopefully my stomach will hold strong tonight. Will not be coming back which is a shame as this is our regular place to visit when in Matlock.

Was super excited to eat a gf fish and chips and when arrived at home and opened the box realised they gave me a small fish instead of large as ordered. The lady at the counter wasn’t listening at all hence we repeated the order 3 times clearly not enough times though we paid for full portions. Extremely disappointed as can’t even go back now to exchange/complain.

Great all round customer service, hospitality at its best, Chris, Rachel & all staff very friendly, courteous, polite, restaurant very clean & tidy inc rest rooms, well lit, food arrived in a timely manner, quality & quantity great, nicely cooked & presented, 10/10, highly recommended & would go again.

Always busy when the illuminations are on, but always worth queueing up for. Delicious as always.

If I could choose 0 I would... 0/10... where do I honestly start.... my daughter on her first holiday.. she buys 2 x fish and chips ... £18 ,,,, That was a big enough shock .... takeaway .... only to find both fishes filled with parasite worms ..... I'll add a photo so u can see. obviously being a mum of a teenager, you can imagine I messaged them... only for them to then reply it's normal .... yes parasites can live in fish... but its not normal . and I expect a refund at the first instant! day 2 and no reply for refund... instead now completely ignoring me ... and blocked me on my other Facebook! but its ok this is my old account ! but hey now due to the rudness the arrogance and the disgusting fish ill happy leave My review everywhere I can on line, Google, everywhere!!!! As after my call to the environmental health department they said its due to quality issues . poor quality fish . so I say no more. then I see you have deleted the comment someone wrote about the gluten free food, not actually gluten free as it made them unwell.... so it's a shame they have not written a review. thinking u blocked me pretty quickly to stop me leaving this review .. but guess u failed ! Just filter here and read worst comments, all the food poisoning!!!

Just short of £15 for fish and chips with two waters and a can of pop. The chips where ok but the fish was fried to an inch of its life.
