Popped in for a cone of chips. Was given a poly box full! Top quality and tasty and some of great length. Other chip shops who serve chips like batter bits take note! Friendly lady serving and nice and hot.

Horrendous food, poor hygiene! Black curly hairs all over the food and food poisoning🤮 only went there due to Seagulls being closed fully regret my decision

Can’t fault their chips, honestly they’ve got me through some hard times and I seriously call them the best chips in the world! I would get them again and again day after day if I could and I’m tough to please on the chip front! They’re PERFECT!!! Very happy to live close by! I am not in any way affiliated with this shop but I’d love free chips for life as they’re amazing!!!! Nothing compares!

Picked up takeaway fish and chips this evening to sit and eat by the river. Good service in the clean and tidy shop. Didnt have to wait too long. Nicely presented in small cardboard boxes with little forks. Fish was fresh and tasty. Good sized portions of chips. Would definitely buy from here again. Locals were buying there too so that says a lot.

Pickes up a take out tonight for 4 of us and certainly will not be going back. Medium portion of chips was more like EXTRA SMALL at a medium price. Fish was tasteless with the worst batter I’ve every tasted, soggy and tasted uncooked. Very poor and will not be returning.

We visited this chip shop on the August bank holiday and took our food down to the riverside... where my daughter promptly dropped her meal, we went back to buy another and they insisted on replacing it for free! Food was excellent too, cannot fault this place!

The idea- nice fish & chips by the lovely river. ( river lovely) Staff- lady seemed polite, gentleman didn’t acknowledge at all. Food- greasy indeed so greasy it was going through the box, easy to rectify this by draining fish for a bit longer & making sure oil is fresh. Chips not as greasy as fish and we’re ok. Price- £8 for ( at time of review) cod and regular chips and one can of coke. So not particularly cheap. THE HORROR- black hair found on chips!!!! ( straight in the bin)This and the fact that both the server and the cook had filthy clothes and aprons on, caps not covering their hair properly, has put me off ever recommending this place or using it ever again!!!!!! And all this at time of Coronavirus a national pandemic!! I should have heard the alarm bells when I had seen the filthy aprons and t-shirts under them... I’ve been to high town many times and both fish & chip shops are very good and immaculate. In this chip shop it was just all wrong. 😔

We travelled down to Bridgnorth especially for your excellent fish and chips they were delicious and we will definitely go regularly.

Went it for a quick back of chips for my daughter. Whilst I appreciate it was 8.30pm and not that busy these should have been chucked. Can’t believe they have served this. Won’t be going back.

what can i say i'm shocked at the prices, they are extortionate, tonight we had 2 fish and chips which were £7 each and two sausages and two small curry sauces it came to £19, i doubt they will be in business long. looking at other reviews it seems i ain't the only one who feels this place isn't up to scratch. Think its time to try elsewhere. the food was very greasy as it dripped out the bag on to my trousers luckily i managed to get the grease out of my trousers otherwise i would of been sending them the bill. I eventually got a reply from the owner telling me rubbish about how they source locally and how they peel potatoes by hand which i know they use machines to peel potatoes and how they reduce their carbon footprint compared to anywhere else then telling me that we should pay more for the food its a chip shop not a restaurant for god sake. he was very rude and arrogant, let's just say i certainly wont be using there again that's for sure.

We have an excellent chip shop near here we live so we have high expectations. Went here whilst on holiday, vey presentable premises, but didn't really enjoy, the fish lacked taste and the batter was soggy. Not great

Coming back to low town after seeing band during Bridgnorth music festival decided to stop off at Riverside fish and chips. Nice clean place and cooked us 2 roe which was ready in 2 minutes .Good food and great service.

Tried this chip shop a while ago and was really disappointed but decided to give it another go when driving past after a long day I just fancied something quick and atsty. Definitely won’t be trying again. The fish was horrible, bland with no taste and looked grey and soggy. The chips were hard and tasted like cardboard. Worst fish and chips I’ve ever tasted!

Absolutely disgusting. Fish and chips for two with a drink each for nearly £20 and straight into the bin. Hard, Old, dark reheated rubbish. Entirely inedible and the tiny amount we consumed have also given us both a bad tummy! Don’t go here!!!

On a day trip to Bridgnorth. Popped in to Riverside Fish n Chip shop with the wife. Had a cone of chips each. Walked down road and sat on a wall to eat. Chips were dark, almost see-through, rock hard and saturated with fat. I ate 3 and my wife ate 1 and then they went in the bin! They had clearly been kept a long time and gone in and out the fryer several times. By miles, the worst chips I've ever eaten. Couldn't be bothered to walk back to complain and didn't want to spoil our day with an in-shop rant but suffice to say we will never be going there again. Tried to redress by returning to the top of the town to another chip shop- the lad there assured us that there chips were always fresh. We had a tray to share and, unfortunately, ended up with another trip to the bin!!! Bridgnorth is certainly a lovely town in a beautiful location but it seems maybe the worst place for chips! Don't worry Bridgnorth...we'll still return...with a packed lunch!

Very rude poor service from female assistant aged 50 plus. 3rd time been in and had bad service from same lady she should take advice from younger staff member who was lovely and clearly embarrassed by her behaviour. This assistant has been rude and aggressive to us on a few occasions not what you expect from a lady aged in her 59’s plus. Not good for business.

Sadly our fish and chips were very disappointing , tasteless on first mouthful and only got worse, curry sauce was runny .. not a pleasant meal at all . We won’t be visiting again.

Think there must be a new owner here been using this chippy when we come to stanmore hall for a few years the mini fish tonight had so much batter on it was not very good soggy and doughy used to be loght and crispy not good

Bought food for my niece and nephews who were visiting prior to a family funeral. We found the food to be dry and tasteless but we were so hungry after a long day travelling most of us ate it but unfortunately, mine went in the bin.

We moved from down south to Bridgnorth two and a half years ago. We tried all the fish and chips shops in the town during this time. Riverside has the best chips that we have ever tasted and very generous portions too, they are real proper chips, not loads of crispy bits but really nice properly cut chips made from good quality potatoes, also although the choice of fish is limited to just Cod the fish is excellent too, and they will always cook from fresh if you ask. The owners are very nice people who really do value their customers and are always welcoming and friendly. We have never had a sit down meal as we live nearby, but there would be no difference in quality, the only thing is if you do want a sit down meal it is limited space. Have had take outs at all various times, and the quality is consistent and still very good.

On returning from along day at hospital my son and I decided to get some chips from riverside chip shop.They were not even edible, obviously not fresh but brown hard and reheated.I was so angry ,my son's went straight in the bin but I took mine back and showed them the sourfaced woman that had seen served and charged for them,I asked her if she would eatake them....to which she replied,did I want some more! NO I DON'T was my reply.I will never waste my money in there again, although I am sure the salt and vinegar are delicious.Can't rate lower tan a 1 to submit so 1 star for the salt and vinegar

My Husband and I had our lunch in the restaurant, I had the a fish dinner special the portion was big, my Husband choose the sausage dinner and could not eat it all, both meals was very well cooked and clean.There is a wide menu including a children's menu all at very reasonable prices.We will certainly be going again when we are next on Holiday and could highly recommend it.Well worth the money.

A good day on the Severn Valley railway topped off my a fish and chip lunch that everyone enjoyed. The service was good and the quality very good. Prices were good for sitting.

Visited her again and fancied diner meat and chips only to be told they don’t have any donor meat. This is the third time this has happened, very disappointed. Bought some chips instead they were greasy and over salted. So have decided I won’t be going here again. They disappoint me each time I go

Wanted to sit by the river and enjoy a fish and chips tea so visited this chip shop as it was the closest to where we had parked. The lady was currently serving somebody when we went in but decided to carry on her conversation after she had finished serving the customer which left us standing there like lemons waiting to be served. When we were served we received our order of 2 fish and chips and 2 pots of sauce quickly. We sat by the river to eat them and when we took the boxes out of the carrier bag the grease had already come through the boxes after a 5 minute walk. When we opened the boxes the chips were brown and swimming in grease. To taste they were just soggy. The fish wasn't much better which was bland and poodled in grease. At the high price they are charging this was extremely disappointing and made us very thirsty for the rest of the evening. Definitely won't be returning here anytime soon.

We called in for some fish and chips having smelled it as we cycled past. Served by a lovely young lady who quickly served me a large fish and chips and a fishcake and chips served in a cardboard box and a paper bag respectively. We carried the food in my bike panniers along the river until we could find a seat which meant that sadly the batter on the fish was a bit soggy because of the condensation. Still, both meals were tasty and there were plenty of chips, too many in fact as they ended up in the bin.

Estos tienen que ser los más pescado y patatas fritas en el precio de la zona. Estábamos disfrutando de un día en el río ayer y decidí caminar a lo largo de este chippie. Cuatro de nosotros pedimos pescado y patatas fritas y tuvimos que esperar junto con otra pareja para el pescado para ser cocinados. Había un pescado sentado en el gabinete y sabía que iba a conseguir.

Vine aquí para el carnaval a lo largo de lado con un amigo decidimos tener pescado y patatas juntos. La cola era ridicious era de esperar debido a la gran fin de semana sin embargo, el personal era muy cortés y se disculpó por la demora y el pescado y las patatas fritas eran para morirse empanada perfecta y no grasa y las patatas fritas estaban razonablemente bien preparado y salados. Deberá visitar de nuevo!

Very pleased to have finally found a decent fish and chips localish to home .. Lovely fish ...not dry and crisp light batter... Chips were nicely cooked Nice service...although might be a struggle if the place was busy !!!

Perhaps one of the best fish & chip shops around, the quality of the food is second to none and first class service, the prices are acceptable

Went a few months back and ended up throwing the chips in the bin, they were cold,dark brown and tasted like they had been refried twice and left to go cold.Living in Bridgnorth I thought I'd give it another go as it had always been a great chippy..........Went tonight same again, Scallops were cold, dark brown (almost as if they had been fried in castrol gtx) chips were rubbery and powdery with the occasional crunchy bit that tasted like something from the bottom of a dirty toastie machine. It's a damn shame, as it honestly used to be fantastic.

Popped into this place when walking down to the river to do a spot of fishing. What a surprise when I opened the wrapping. I dont know if they thought I was a big eater but there was loads. I wish I could catch a fish as big as the one they gave me. I shared the meal with another fisherman (didnt know who he was). There was no way I could eat the lot. My advise, By one portion and share it. Ok, it may not be the cheapest in the town but is certainly the best for quality and amount. I visited during the summer over a Bank Holiday. Very busy but the staff still managed a smile and a warm greeting. Try it, Get your chips, walk down to the river, sit and stuff your face, Like back and watch the energetic people rowing up and down the river or watch a jerk with a rod waiting for a jerk on the other end

This shop is great for eating fish and chips outdoors. Nice and fresh fish. Enough in a portion to share.

Popped in with my daughters today, been past many times but never eaten there. Was not disappointed, food was lovely , chips just as you like them , well cooked with plenty of salt & vinegar! The girls loved them and told anyone they met afterwards how much they enjoyed them, definitely worth a visit.

Heard good and bad things about it.So,called in after going shopping over the road...Seemed to take ages to get served,staff pleasant,food ok. Would call in again.

The food from this chip shop was the worst food we have ever had.the chips where rubbish and I would advise anyone not to have a potato fritter if u like potato in the middle of them.The worst chip shop we have ever been to.The peas were the only thing in the chip shop that I would recommend.

We were looking for somewhere to eat and came across this fish and chip shop. After deciding to go for the sausage and chips, we asked if we could sit inside as it was raining. They only had two little tables, but it was a very small shop, and they said yes we could. Really tasty food and large portions and really good price, thoroughly enjoyed them. will go back again when in the area next

Good parking friendly staff but food very tasteless. We had 1 adults fish chips and curry sauce. 2 senior citizens with mushy peas fish and chips. Very large portions. Clean environment under 15.00 but I felt was not good for value to to lack of taste fish seemed slightly under cooked not white and fluffy chips in felt were last night's chips won't go back there in a hurry

Always head for this place if around Bridgnorth and fancy fish and chips. Never had a bad meal. Always cooked well and friendly service. Reasonable prices too

I boat a kids menu from them for taking away. The selling lady was watching tv all the time she made that menu and when we got home I was unable to give to my son that chips because was very dry and hard to eat.

On visiting Bridgnorth this was a last resort (only as we couldn't find a pub with garden to eat). The cod was nice but best of all was the chips, although when you opened it they weren't much to look at, they were so crispy they tasted so good! Probably best portion of chips I've had in a long time.

Generous portions of chips, but the fish can be very over cooked. Have been several times and the first time was very good, don't know if it has changed hands but the pleasant lady who first served was not there, and the fish was very over cooked with a very dark brown batter, which we had to take back and get exchanged. I will say though that they do serve a very generous portion of chips which are nice if they put enough vinegar and salt on.

Had a few meals from here in times gone by, and was a bit let down to be honest. Fish had been overcooked and was dry. However, since it's changed hands, I've found it much improved. Very generous portions as well.

A visit to Bridgnorth is never complete without a visit to the Riverside we have always found their food to be well cooked and presented hot and generously portioned . Fresh too which is always a bonus!!! The box keeps it piping hot so you can take the short stroll to the river find a bench and relax and enjoy . Keep it up team .

I along with my son have been coming here for a good few years now and we can honestly say we have not had any bad grub. We come visit every year on our travels fishing and we have always enjoyed every scrap of food we have eaten here. Portions are huge and fish is always very well cooked even better that it is served in a box (we don't get that up north) keep up the good work chaps and we will see you soon

Popped in on a weekday evening for a bite to eat and the large chips was a huge portion, I'd class the price as very reasonable, I thought the staff were perfect, I prefer my chips with a bit of colour I smother them in vinegar and salt they were perfect if ever I'm in the area again id definitely eat here.

The chips are quite nice here but the female staff are awful!! Customer service poor, one is really slow, both never smile. There used to be a lovely lady there, chatty and pleasant; I believe she has moved to another eatery, Riverside's loss. It is close for us but we avoid purely based on this.

Had standard portion of chips and two Roe. Threw away 80% of the chips as they were small ends that were burnt and cold as were the Roe that weren't much better - disgraceful that one of the owners (who served this awful food) can think this is acceptable - shameful!!Won't be going there again!!

Quick and easy fish and chips for our first night of short break away, reasonably priced and food was great.

Pleasant friendly staff (especially the owner). Tasty fish with good quality batter. Not overly spoilt with the number of fish eateries in Bridgnorth but riverside is highly recommended.

What happened here. The last time I wrote, gave this place a really good review. This time the chips were orange and horribly greasy, some were not cooked. The fish wasn't properly cooked either and half the batter was soggy. No, no. I may not be back in Bridgnorth for another year, at least, but I won't be back to the Riverside ever. Unless, some better reviews come out. No I'll be going back to Clacton where the fish and chips are excellent, consistently.

Had a meal fro here, I was so ill later that day! Greasy fish and chips and it was so expensive! I live locally and prefer the chip shops up Hightown.

when l have had food from here l get the feeling it has been standing for some time, to be fair this could be due to the time l have visited when they have been relatively quiet.Saying that l would visit again as it is in a convenient location in the low town

Good fish and chips served in plastic trays, quiet busy so you sometimes have a wait. Not so impressed with the Kebabs but overall, pleasant staff

All food cooked fresh and plenty to choose from. Shop very clean and staff helpful. Nice to be able to buy smaller portions.

This used to be the best fish & chips place in the Bridgnorth area - always took especially our overseas visitors there (last one in July 2014). But when we went on Saturday 28th Feb. 2015 -luckily just ourselves - we were very disappointed. The service was not what we had been used to. As there was no fish for our order (but being the in process of being fried) we were asked to wait but were then forgotten. The fish and chips when we did get them were well below the standard we had come to expect: the batter tasted of stale (slightly rancid) oil althoug the fish itself would have been acceptable. The chips were mediocre and quite soggy to say that they were supposed to have been freshly cooked. To make it even worse - the paper serviettes (essential even if one uses the tiny disposable wooden fork) smelled as if they had come out of great-aunt's bottom drawer. A disappointment all round - we can only assume that the place has changed ownership.

Always make sure to come here when I'm up in the Midlands, sometimes when passing through from Ludlow, Craven Arms, Church Stretton or even from Wales. Been into Bridgnorth twice this week but tonight went for a fish and chip supper. Huge cods, lovely batter and excellent chips. All lovely. Whatismore everything is nicely presented Wasn't too long a wait either.

Went here tonight as my usual in Whitburn street us closed. It was a mistake I won't be repeating. The girl serving couldn't have been slower if she had tried long wait for service they needed 2 people on. Had cod and chips not cheap at £5.50. Travelled the 1 mile home and oh dear soggy fish the batter was stuck to the paper despite me having it wrapped separately it all fell apart plus it was cold. Chips had obviously been hanging around a while OR double fried from last night. I have learnt a lesson and suggest anyone reading this does the same. Its the last £5.50 they will get from me. Absolute rubbish and it has ruined fish and chips for me totally.

Oh Dear!This is the second visit ,first was not good but thought it may be a one off!! Sadly mistaken, Donner Kebab fitted in the palm of my hand and was cold, fish undercooked and soggy, chips are served in a bag and became a soggy lump of greasy potatoes at the bottom of the bag. Don't ask for SFC it's been on the menu for months but not available YET!!The lady serving is brusque and rude, a very unpleasant experience all round. Try Seagull in High Town or Efes Kebabs!!!!

After walking the dog ... I decided to treat myself to a covert fish, chips and curry sauce.I took it back to the car (parked just over the road in the Co-op) ... only to find the fish REALLY undercooked and VERY fishy. It had literally soaked the chips and was making the paper wrapping fall apart.I took it back, declinded the offer of a replacement and took my money back.

Its not very often we visit this beautiful town of Bridgnorth, but when we do we always come to this wonderful chippy!

This until recently this was a brilliant fish and chip shop, and had built up a reputation for excellent food..unfortunately standards have fallen...not what it was...a real shame!!

This used to be very good but not so much anymore!Four fish and chips and all the fish we undercooked and soggy.The chips weren't much better and appeared to be chipped from green potatoes .Will not return.Shame

I used to use this place a fair amount . Once or twice per 2 weeks.The last 3 or 4 times it seems to get worse . Standards seem to have slipped my fish was half cooked soft rubber batter tasted horrible and the chips that were not black bruised or green were ok but still undercooked

The food is always freshly cooked and they give you good portions.No complaints. There is also a car park across the road.

Great team,give excellent service.Try the haddock give your order it takes seven minutes,just time enough to have apint next door,and you can collect amost delicious fish supper,with lite batter and gorgeous chips.

It's true this is the best Fish and Chip Shop in Bridgnorth and I could argue the best I've been to.The place (shop not fish) looks great and the food is tasty and not greasy. Good value for money.We live in Bridgnorth so we are here quite often but if you are visiting we strongly recommend this chippy!
