Attended a wedding reception in the events room. Clean and set out lovely. Staff friendly, efficient and welcoming, helpful, we needed a plaster for a toddlers kicked toe. Staff member brought 2, plus a sterile wipe. Prices, not too expensive.

Visited for a wedding reception, lovely venue, nice space, well decorated. The food was externally catered so can't comment on the venues for, however the bar was well stocked and the service was good. If local I would certainly try one of their Sunday dinners.

The 1st time i have been here i work up The road at calow at a nursing home and Been wanting to try the carvery here for A while went today and got to say the Food was lovely meat bigger slices than Anywhere i been and also leeks and Others that not tried before only very Slight issue mashed potatoes lumpy but All the food was lovely great service by The woman who cut meat to and friendly Service from her and the guy also would Definitely go again very soon thanks Again.

Great place would go again.. very out of the way though..big car park and very spacious garden.. great for summer time drinking..

Booked for a wedding after party 30th March 3024. Excellent value for money, lovely room with a well stocked bar and fantastic buffet. The room and service exceeded our expectations and therefore we would highly recommend this venue. The DJ they sorted for us was superb. We could have paid a lot more and got a lot less. Will definitely be booking this place again for any future gatherings. All our guests were very complimentary about the night ❤️

Great bar with a very friendly atmosphere and whilst only having a small menu it was cooked to perfection and delicious.

Attend a wake, I'm not sure if the catering was done by the Riverside Club, but assuming that it was, then it was excellent. They catered for food allergies . Spacious area and excellent bar service.

Please everyone, ignore the poisonous lies posted here by Joanne Botham. The young man she refers to, is always outstandingly professional, courteous and polite. We have patronised The Riverside for over fifteen years and never had reason to complain about the food or the staff. The food is always delicious, as it has been tonight and all staff are warm and friendly, especially the two whom Joanne refers to. The terms of endearment - 'Darling', 'Love' and so on, just add to their charm and make us feel extremely welcome. We dine at the Riverside three times a week because of the wonderful staff and the atmosphere they provide. The female staff have also been dumbfounded by the harassment to their colleague, stating that if the young man did not work here, then neither would they. Young man - never change! You and the chef are absolutely amazing! Keep up the good work.

Big match on and they had 2 young girls behind the bar who were very slow and can't have been there long as when asked a few questions they said they didn't know. Took ages to get served and they served people who had pushed in so wasn't taking note of who had been there awhile. Went to get the carvery and the plates were wet and dirty. Nobody on there for ages either so we just stood examining the plates which all had food stuck to them. Didn't find one clean plate. Dishwasher obviously not cleaned them properly and they were not dried as water all over them. Beef was dried like a prune and only a bit of turkey left so we asked to swap for something off the menu instead. Food came out pretty quickly to be fair but think the carvery man was also cooking the meals as people who had been waiting for him to cut the meat ended up cutting the meat themselves. Ordered chicken in a basket and a kids chicken chips and peas. The young waitress asked who the chicken was for and I said we've ordered kids chicken and chips and chicken in a basket so she gave the plate to my granddaughter. 5 min later and I'm still waiting so asked the waitress and she said the chicken in a basket is coming. It turned up and it was a kids chicken nuggets meal. Granddaughter had then smothered my chicken in ketchup so I complained and got told the chef is stressed so she can't do anything so I ended up having to eat a kids portion due to them giving the wrong meal to the small person. The whole thing was a farce from beginning to end. I felt sorry for the staff as not their fault. Whoever was in charge needs demoting . Big cup final match and Sunday carvery day and there were 3 maybe 4 staff behind 2 bars, carvery and in the kitchen.

Great place to come and watch football, have a meal or play snooker or pool.

Been coming here 12 yrs and today I got attitude from the Sunday Carvery Server 25/02/24, using the excuse hes had a long week so he thinks its ok to be obnotious to customers . ( Dont take your personal stuff and moods out on customers its bad for business be professional). Extremely poor standards of customer service score 0 also 0 for customer satisfaction also , the young man totally ruined our Sunday meal out !!! It would of been a total fail as a mystery shopper score on customer service . ( He ruined it with his bad attitude for the hard work of the rest of the Team I also might add !!!!!.) Clearly this young man has lack of people skills and does not set good example to the younger members of staff to learn from at all, if he thinks its ok to be obnotious to customers as the standards set ! Extremely poor considering customers pay for a service instead they get bad bratty attitude ,this will loose footfall within this business if this young mans attitude isnt reigned in as made the place feel unwelcoming and unapproachable to come for a meal , customers money can be spent else where that offers a friendlier service and welcoming environment ! Customers miss the other friendly man that does the Sunday Cavery also that pops in and out to fill the trays ( hes worked here years ) , hes far more professional to serve customers (Front Facing Role)and makes everyone feel welcome than the obnotious young man currently doing it with a severe attitude problem! Ps people sat eating meals dont want to hear also the young mans voice also bellowing across the room whilst eating our meals which are ment to be enjoyable and pleasurable experience ,instead were having to listen to him gobbing off , being patronising to the younger female staff saying u alright darling , loud enough for it to agrivate customers trying to chill out at Sunday lunch ( clear lack of professionalism all round by this young man) . These young girls should be treated more respectfully by this young man addressed with a less sexist remark infront of paying customers and it is a big no no within the workplace ! He need reminding of your company policy and procedures as well as workplace legislation and law of how colleagues should be treated respectfully and customers also for that matter !

Met a friend (4 adults 2children)for dinner here as he highly recommend it. What an absolute joke. We was told to be there for 2:30. Was told a tabled would be cleared for us. Waited 20 minutes and still no service or table. The tables in the function room where not cleared by anyone. After waiting for a while longer we just picked a table cleared it ourself as I had two hungry young child as well. Went to get our carvery and was stood 15 minutes waiting for the chef to come cuts the meats. Again after awhile of waiting I went to ask where the chef was and got a rely he's serving drinks in the other side. ( shouldn't the chef be on the food side) after waiting over 45 minutes we just took what meat there was cut and started with the rest of the meal. My son who doesn't like Sunday dinner ordered sausage and chips. We had nearly finished our meal and had to ask where his meal was. It was sat on the side and was Luke warm.. We'd of been better going to macdonlds. Never again

Poor service reg food. No end time on the menu but the tables had menus on them. Went to the bar just before the start of a match to be told food was not being served at 4.30pm. Food was being served at 4 and no indication that it wouldn’t be going forward.

Brilliant as always, came for an 18th birthday party.

Went there with family and friends. There was this guy staring at me from inside as i was sat outside. He was staring the whole night making me feel uncomfortable. It turned out this guys name was Craig. Made me feel uneasy and uncomfortable the whole night.

Had a few Christmas and birthday parties here, always a good atmosphere and a fantastic buffet done.

Had our wedding reception here, the team have been brilliant , rang us a few times to double check everything was in order 😀

Fantastic Beer always clean glasses and always lively with gas and good heads defo the best pints here by miles for miles too! Defo stop by this place for a pint if your in the area!

We had our wedding reception here and everything down to the last detail was absolutely perfect, carvery was bang on , staff couldn't do enough for us. The bar staff were polite and very attentive. Gregg was fantastic. The clubs own dj was bang on too. We Would definitely recommend to family and friends. Thank you to all that made our day as special as it was.

Lovely little pub, friendly staff, parking area is small, and road outside can be busy, so care needed if outside with youngsters

Foods over priced for the quality. Pool and snooker tables are dismal and ruined. Toilets are clean and well presented, which is a big plus for this establishment. Staff are always respectable and decent too. The sports hall absolutely wants some work doing to it. Will want managing better too as not to allow it to get back into the state it's in now. Would give it a solid 4 stars if food wasn't so pricey and the sports hall was cleaned up and improved.

We held my nephews surprise 18th birthday party on Saturday. The staff were amazing and the food was delicious. We all had a wonderful time. The karaoke went down a treat. Highly recommended for any type of function.

Food is good and great value as is the beer/lager. Guinness also a decent pint too. Games room needs some attention, pool tables not working properly, same with table football. TV's good for football

Had our work christmas party here. A super location for chesterfield, close to the town centre. Lovely large room. Staff were very friendly. There was a great selection of drinks. Would easily look at this for a party event for my personal use - we all had an amazing time ! Thank you Riverside.

Had my friend's 50th birthday party here in the Clayton Suite, Emma the Manager was brilliant to deal with, so helpful and enthusiastic. The room was clean and has it's own toilets, access (with a short ramp), and the carvery rolls were delicious, We went back the following day to pick up equipment left overnight and had lunch there. Food was great again, and the service excellent. Only a small car park so if they have a function on in both rooms parking can be tricky but apart from that its a hidden gem. Thank you Emma and the team for helping us make the party a great evening,

4½ Stars for this vast pub with great food at very reasonable prices, really friendly/helpful bar staff, TV screens showing sport everywhere and a welcoming atmosphere. Beer prices were fair as was the choice available. We went to play pool and if one of the balls hadn't been missing I'd have rated the Riverside 5 Stars. The homemade steak & ale pie was simply wonderful. Definitely recommend and will return

Held my girlfriend's 50th party here the small of the rooms staff very friendly and polite. Room was very clean and private bar for our own guests. Had the hot roast buffet which was very good we only had around 50 ish guests and room felt comfortable. When we collected all the birthday gifts next day (sunday) call in for your Sunday roast lunch or order from menu you won't be disappointed great food 👍 👍👍

We had a golf weekend in chesterfield Friday 17th to Sunday 19th we were booked in the Riverside for our evening meal the food was fantastic the staff were absolutely amazing we went back on Saturday thoroughly enjoyed the place fully recommended well done to all involved cheers

Pleasantly Surprised, very clean you could see and feel it on entery. It was a private members club but now it's a good pub. Menue sheet didn't do food justice, we arrived just before chef's finishing time but not a problem pick meals and definitely could not complain about quality or quantity or even price. Will be back.

After attending a relatives wedding reception I had to put a negative review. Never before had a group collectively had to return so many drinks to the bar because of very bad beer and seemingly watered down spirits, the buffet consisted of cheese spread sandwiches and previously frozen quiches that were to put politely sloppy. To top it off some drinks were ordered which a new member of staff didn't know how to do (fair enough) and got quite upset when they came out wrong -it happens! But! Then a senior ? member of staff then came out onto the floor of the party and had a massive go at the person who had ordered the drinks apparently for upsetting a staff member, I think this is unprofessional at the very least and the nicest thing I can say about the venue is that it is poorly run and I will NOT EVER recommend it to anyone.
