It’s a good cafe for a quick bite and coffee, would recommend dropping in for a quick snack. Staff friendly and place was clean

First time here for us. Visited for breakfast after staying overnight at The Huntsman Inn to celebrate my 65th birthday. As an alternative to our usual full English my wife and I both chose scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on toast, we're so glad we did as it was excellent and tasty. There must have been at least 3 eggs each and plenty of smoked salmon too. The tea and coffee we each had hit the spot too. Paul and his very able assistant (apologies we didn't catch her name!) were delightful. At 11:00 on a Monday morning it was quite busy, a sure sign that they're doing things right. They fully deserve their No. 1 spot on TripAdvisor. We'll be back.

Called in for a coffee, finished up having full breakfast. Absolutely brilliant. Friendly staff and food was excellent. Will definitely be back as we need to sample those scones!

Me and my mum came here for an early lunch, only to not realise how early we came and lunch had not started, we told the waitress we will wait to order until lunch was being served and stuck with our lunch however the owner came out as told us he will make a start on our lunches for us! We found this so amazing and sweet, my mum had been a few times and said how great the service is and I couldn’t have agreed more! Such a lovely home environment! I will deffo be back again!

After our first visit in Holmfirth we thought of having a coffee and quick bite before heading home. After a search on tripadvisor we thought to pick Riverside cafe since it scored well. Oh boy what a great option. The place inside is lovely . The owner ? A great funny character. The food amazing!!! So fresh so tasty and plenty of it too . My partner got the chicken, ham and mozzarella panini. It came with chips and salad . I got the cream cheese and smoked salmon bagel. Another great dish . Salmon was full of flavour and tasted like it was just made fresh for me. If I’m in the area I will sure go back to riverside cafe.

We found this great cafe on our latest visit to Holmfirth. I highly recommend it, excellent quality good and a friendly service from staff.

We ate at the cafe/restaurant yesterday afternoon, can't fault anything whasoever and felt it deserved a mention here. The food and drinks were amazing and great value for money. The owner/chef has great banter with his customers, was such a warm and inviting atmosphere. We would go back to Holmfirth to have a mooch arounbd just to visit again and sample some of the different dishes on offer it was that good an experience.

Went for lunch on Friday lunchtime and it was closed therefore I am struggling to find 100 characters to describe it.

First visit to this charming cafe , sat outside and had a lovely Homemade cheese scone … was delicious 😋 Will return . 😊😊

All seven meals ordered for our family lunch were delicious and much enjoyed. Portions are generous but not overwhelming and the salad was super-fresh. Cake for pudding was epic in scale! We’ll be back!!

Fabulous cafe in a great location. Good food and really good value but best of all were the hosts who couldn’t do enough for us and even gave us watermelon to cool us down on a seriously hot day! Would give 6 stars if we could! 👏

We arrived at the cafe at 2:15pm on a Wednesday in July and were met at the door to be told that the kitchen had just closed so only tea and cake available. This seemed quite strange that in peak season after the year we’ve had that they close the kitchen at 2pm! Surely the kitchen would be open the same times as the cafe? As we were looking for lunch at what was effectively still lunchtime, we took our custom elsewhere. We were looking forward to trying this highly rated cafe on the last day of our holiday but were disappointed by what seems to be an odd decision. If this was just a one off then so be it but if it’s their regular thing, they should publicise this fact.

Excellent breakfast cooked to perfection by Paul. Who entertained us during our meal would definitely recommend this place if you are visiting Holmfirth. 5 stars for food and customer service.

Visited last week for a trip away and came across this cafe for a fry up. Did not disappoint and was at a great price. Couple who owned the cafe were great characters also.

Came in for the “superb” full English as recommended by friends, took one look at the specials and traded it in for a venison & game casserole and roasted pork belly with sage mash, did not disappoint, melt in the mouth pork belly on a mountain of fresh mash and the game casserole was half demolished by my fella before I could a pic! Very generous portion even before the 4 sides came out, stuffed and very reasonably priced. The chef and front of house were very friendly and couldn’t do more for us and others in the cafe, definitely be back to work our way through the rest of the menu,

We called in here for an early lunch due to inclement weather and had one of the best meals ever, really good baguettes, amazing chips, good portions too, excellent service too. Huge slices of cake and the chef was very funny too. Really great find but note there is a set of steep steps up to the property but if you can make it then do, you won’t be disappointed.

Been 3 times now!! First time we decided to visit Holmfirth and had our lunch in the riverside cafe, really nice food and big portions. A couple of weeks later we were back for our Sunday lunch. 1 week later, went again !! We live in Leeds, so have to travel a bit, worth the drive though as the food is delicious. Thank you for the free cake you gave us the last time we were in, really appreciated and delicious.

Firstly, an apology to ‘mine host’ that none of us finished the fantastic bloomers we had for lunch. Due to a late breakfast rather than lack of quality.We were asked if we minded doggie customers being allowed in, which we didn’t.Sad to see trade slow due to lack of visitors - hang on in there!Go there if you are in Holmfirth and ensure its survival.

Just popped in on spec and despite all the covid restrictions we had a warm and relaxed welcome. Full English was really good, atmosphere good, prices good and staff very friendly. A little gem this place and not surprised all the reviews were so positive.

We visited today last minute and we were with our Labrador, the owner was extremely accommodating.We both had coffee/tea and a chocolate cake each.The cake was perhaps the best we have ever had (homemade), it was delicious without being too chocolaty. Just delicious. The coffee was good too.We really enjoyed our brief visit here and if we comeback to holmfirth we will return to this cafe.The owner was very nice too

Discovered this place for a lunchtime visit on a rainy day. Things brightened up from the moment we stepped inside from a very warm welcome, a good menu choice and, when it was served, food which well and truly met our expectations. Well done. Have already recommended to friends and need to find an excuse to visit Holmfieth again!

The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is huge and absolutely delicious. Vegetarian and vegan options available. Couldn’t eat it all there was so much but everything was cooked perfectly! Would definitely recommend.

A hidden gem in Holmfirth never visited this cafe before I won't make that mistake again what a fantastic little place to eat and watch the world go by. All food cooked to personal liking even a chilli we were asked if wanted mild or hot. Large portions staff were really helpful the owner and chef was hysterical brilliant sense of humour and banter with his staff we will definitely be back when in Holmfirth next thank you for a really enjoyable eating experience.

Love this place, food is great and the staff are excellent. Best full English in Holmfirth. We live locally and always come here despite the abundance of local eateries. If you live in Holmfirth or are just visiting you need to pay a visit.

Popped in on our way to Haworth and found this little gem with fantastic servise with quality food served. Everthing you expect and more.

The owner, Paul, put together a private party for my best friend's 50th birthday. We could to choose our menu. Mussels for starters. Paul surprised us with 3 x different types. The Paella we had for our main was tasty and filled with lovely seafood. I would give this little restaurant 5*.

The Riverside Cafe does a fantastic breakfast, it’s first class. The guys who run the place are incredibly friendly too.

Blimey, don't come here expecting a small lunch snack as we did. The prices may be a little above average for a typical cafe but jeez you get your money's worth - luckily they do doggie bags too. We both had a hot baguette and ordered a side of chips but not realising it came with a large salad and coleslaw too. So sadly no room for cake/pub. Plenty of choice for a fussy veggie like me, including breakfasts served all day. Friendly folk, great find. Only downside for some folk is that the steps may be a little steep to access.

We called today with our 6 year old granddaughter who said her food was yummy yummy.She asked for crisps and was given a home made one to try which she thoroughly enjoyed.As Grandad was eating his salad he passed her his celery, next thing...... a plate with a full stick of celery appeared for her.A very enjoyable visit, thank you, we will be back.

Had a day in Holmfirth wanted a light lunch, wow had mushrooms on toast and partner had Cheese and Onion sandwich it was huge, came with bowl of salad, coleslaw and chutney. Staff great and friendly.

Visited yesterday had the beef baguette, chicken/bacon sandwich with chips, as the ovens had been turned off due to being quiet.. this was no problem at all,the staff were more than accommodating and super friendly. Chef gave us a slice of steak pie to try at home... we will be back to have that! To die for.. over all lovely cafe,little extras in the loos, quirky decor, staff are lovely...food=FABULOUS!

Don't be deceived by the exterior, this is a delightful cafe, with a European Bistro ambiance.We loved the fact that there were candles lit during the day, which made it very welcoming and cosy. This is where other cafes fall down, they neglect attention to detail. The menu was very extensive and they served plant milk. It is also dog-friendly, space permitted.One of the main surprises was the size of the portions.... HUGE!Paul made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed his singing.

Nipped in for a coffee after our walk round Digley Res nearby.Arrived pretty close to closing time on a Sunday, but still made feel welcome. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals, all fresh, hot, nicely presented large portions making them fabulous value for money. Great choice of menu, lots of tastes catered for. Best hunters chicken I've had in a long time. It's only a small place and unfortunatly it's not suitable for wheelchair users or folk who struggle with stairs. We were really pleased we went in and wouldn't hesitate to return. Service was friendly, professional and appropriately attentive. Nice little gem of a place.

This is a slightly quirky place but in a good way though, the interior is really unusual and definitly my sort of thing, superb quality coffee and tea and the youngster with us loved the hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows, they do a really good range of hot and cold food with a varied menu choice, the food range is from snacks and salads through to restaurant food with today's special being 'fresh sea bass with a noodle chilli and garlic salad' well worth a visit!

Myself and Daughter dropped in for Breakfast. Staff were Welcoming, Friendly, Professional and Helpful. Food was Great, Freshly cooked and well timed. We loved the decor and especially the little surprise upstairs, outside the toilets. The Music was good “for my tastes.” A new, latest, favourite place in the village. I will be a regular and be recommending to friends when visiting these ends.

Called in for lunch, they could not have been more welcoming. We're vegetarian and just wanted a bagette which wasn't on the menu but not only did the chef accommodate us he suggested some additions and we ended with a wonderful meal and reasonably priced.

We called in for a lunchtime snack and I had a Ploughman's lunch, with a bit of everything. It would have fed 3 people. My wife had a straight forward Panini, but that was also very good. Friendly service and home prepaired food.

Called in here for brunch on a quick trip over to Holmfirth from Greenfield. If you want great home cooked food in huge portions then this is the place to visit in Holfirth. Breakfast was delicious with excellent products. Will definately be back.

I will be honest and say we tried a couple of other eateries before we came here, purely because they were slightly closer to where we stayed. I’m pleased to say that Sids cafe and Beatties didn’t offer a full cooked breakfast which my other half was looking forward to. We went to the Riverside and the service was outstanding and the food amazing. The full breakfast had bacon,sausage, black pudding, fried bread, beans, tomato, mushrooms, hash brown, egg and toast, what a feast!! My bacon and egg sarnie was massive! Thanks guys, you rock!!

Well just would like to say went Here for sunday lunch ,had a sunday roast dinner it was absolutely amazing will definitely go again , different kinds of meat loads of veg , roast and mash potatoes and fabulous gravy and Yorkshire puddings one word AMAZING

Today we found the best place to eat in Holmfirth. We had tried to eat in 5 other places without luck. My daughter has multiple food allergies. The lady who served us listened carefully and patiently to our request which was to be flexible with the hot bagette fillings to suit my daughters needs. The food was prepared and served very quickly. It was set out beautifully. The food was tasty and portions very generous. We will be returning whenever we pass through Holmfirth now. Can't thank you enough, it is very hard to please my daughter nutritionally and with her mental health issues. Thank you for being so caring and especially patient. 5 STAR service and food. Lovely! We visited the Riverside Cafe while having a walk around Holmfirth. The cafe is opposite the market hall and overlooks the river (surprisingly!). It was a bit drizzly so we didn’t eat out but there’s a nice little terrace you can sit at outside.

Well worth the climb up the stairs stairs great beef and ham sandwiches, coleslaw, horseradish and an enormas bowls of mixed salad , 2 coffees at a very reasonable price. We wll come back , didn't have room for a cake but they looked delicious. .

Go up the stairs from the road and you find the most homely of welcomes - I hesitate to say a 'Yorkshire welcome' (being from Lancashire myself), but it was great all the same. We walked in and all 3 couples there had dogs with them - we nearly apologised for not having one. The food is great, portions substantial, wine is there if you want it, and the banter/ chat makes it all. A terrific spot.

We found this hidden gem, visible from the car park in Holmfirth and opposite the Holmfirth market and we’re so pleased that we did! The owners were so friendly, the service was brilliant and the food superb!! You reach it up a small flight of steps onto the terrace. We initially only dropped in for a cup of tea but the extensive menu looked so inviting that we settled on a sandwich each. My oh my, such a lovely sandwich, nicely presented with a huge varied salad bowl, coleslaw and pickle for me with my cheese sandwich and a huge salad bowl,coleslaw and horseradish for my partner with his beef sandwich. Lots of lovely veggie options! The interior is so lovely and interesting and there is a terrace too, where we settled initially but went inside as it came on to rain. There are tables or comfy sofas available, as you wish. We will definitely visit again!! Thoroughly recommend this place to anyone! It is a small cafe so please we don’t want too many people to visit at the same time as us next time, as we want to be sure of a table again!!!

Originally called in this cafe for breakfast. What a lovely surprise; opposite the Market Place , up a few steps and a cafe with a small balcony that allows for perfect people watching. Please note; the balcony is the only small thing this cafe possesses. A good range of breakfasts, lovely selection of vegetarian foods....Had smoked salmon in a brown teacake (I come from the south & we know them as baps!) it was HUGE. All with a good cuppa too. The staff were friendly, very helpful, telling us about and finding a map and directions for the various locations/landmarks around the town. We enjoyed the visit so much we called back later for lunch; again the food was very good and portions king sized And all without breaking the bank! Exceptional value. Visited Riverside amidst the arts festival, and the owner was very welcoming, even with all my dodgy dietary requests (gluten and lactose intolerance and no meat!) and the food was amazing! Was dancing and eating in the rain!
