Wonderful example of an old-school cafe with modern twists to the menu. A wide selection of options and pleasingly busy. The staff are friendly and helpful, they ensured we had a good time. A takeaway service runs alongside the sit-in space, which is charming. The food was excellent as was the coffee.

I have been staying near this cafe for years and now kicking myself that I’ve not been in before. Honestly the best breakfast I’ve had in a long while. The cafe is your traditional no frills type establishment, but it’s warm, clean and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. Coffee was good and HOT - which is hard to find nowadays! We had one full English and one vegan (sausage, mushrooms, spinach, tomato, beans, and delicious bubble & squeak) Hot tasty food on hot plates, what more could you ask for? I’ll definitely be back every time I visit Putney from now on:

What a pleasure to find a traditional cafe so close to Putney Bridge underground station and the Premier Inn where we were staying. We had breakfast there three times and found a warm welcome from the latest family member to run the place in the 45 years the family has been here - so nice to hear Italian being spoken even by the younger generation. The tea was very good, unusually so in my view, and each breakfast, whether beans on toast, fried eggs, sausage or bacon sandwiches was equally delicious. This is not haute cuisine, I hasten to add, but a thoroughly enjoyable traditional breakfast. You will not find an impeccable decor but you will get a piece of history in the making! The photos above reflect the cafe perfectly. We would not hesitate to recommend it and will certainly be back.

I love it here. The friendly staff and their welcoming attitude put you at ease in what could be a rather bleak environment , otherwise described as a retro 1950’s gem with a certain cinematic quality. All sorts of people sitting around eating and reading the papers . Ham eggs and chips unsurpassed and vey good value. I enjoy it more with every visit.

It is fair to say that this establishment sets the gold standard in charming, friendly, down-to-earth service. The gentleman in charge understands the true meaning of hospitality; each and every customer who comes through the door is given a warm, enthusiastic welcome. I used to frequent River Cafe when I worked in the area intermittently from 1998 onwards, and had last visited the cafe almost 15 years ago. Despite the long hiatus, the owner managed to recognise me when I popped in for breakfast with my partner this June. The ship is still as well-run as it ever was; the team comprises family members with a professional dedication to their work. River Cafe is a refreshing contrast to the anaemic, soulless, plug-and-play corporate coffee shops that plague our high streets and town centres. If I were a Fulham fan on my way to Craven Cottage, I'd make a point of stopping off here for some nourishment before a game!

I have used this cafe many times. The staff are very friendly and the food is good. A special is available every day and there are numerous dishes & sandwiches/panini available. By todays costs very very reasonable. I would recommend this place highly. The only time to not go is when Fulham are playing at home as it is exceptionally busy then and tables are always full.

For 45 years this has been a family run traditional working men's cafe, which are now surprisingly rare. Directly opposite the entrance/exit to Putney Bridge tube station, it opens at 7am and closes at 3.30pm weekdays, 10am to 3.30pm on Saturdays and closed on Sundays. They remember you, and your regular order and are friendly and helpful. Grandad still helps out during busy times. Order and pay at the counter, then sit down and they will find you. Takeaway sandwiches are also popular here. Food comes quickly. Quality of ingredients is somewhat poor but it is an inexpensive place. The chips are always hot and consistently and impressively better than at many of the more expensive establishments we've eaten at. I've been coming here off and on for nearly 20 years, whenever I have business nearby. Pre-plandemic they used to be crowded at lunchtime. It's quieter right now but business will no doubt improve as workers continue to return.

Classic caff with tea for 90p and great ambience. Open from 7 a.m. to 3 .30 p.m during the week. Good full english breakfast and lunch. You almost step into it when coming out of the only tube exit there is at Putney. Pay attention...

The day before we went to River cafe we went to Murano in Mayfair. The bill in each location was virtually the same, but there is a huge difference in quality between these two places. Don't get me wrong, RC is very very good food,...

Its opposite Putney Bridge station, and it's NOT THE River Cafe - don't be misled by some Reviews on TA, they've mistaken it. I had a full breakfast, two good americanos, and two toast. £7.50 - in London! Service by the family was good, friendly;...

“Tuve el placer de visitar Brioche Coffee en Balham, ¡y fue una absoluta delicia! El bagel de salmón era fantástico, perfectamente fresco, sabroso y bellamente presentado. El ambiente acogedor y el servicio amable hicieron la experiencia aún mejor. Sin duda un lugar al que volveré para tomar un buen café y deliciosos bocados!” Ali mejor camarera.

Fantastic food, cakes and service. Really can’t fault it. Recently bought a large cake for a birthday and it was extremely reasonably priced and just as good as the individual cakes

We are incredibly grateful for the outstanding service we received for the celebration of our dad’s life in November 2024. The venue was perfectly equipped and ideal for the occasion, and the food was both delicious and well-organised. The staff were incredibly attentive, ensuring everything ran smoothly, and the DJ was lovely, creating a wonderful atmosphere for everyone. A special mention to the exceptional manager, Klyde, who’s warmth and kindness made us feel right at home. We look forward to visiting again soon!

We waited half an hour for the worst cheese n tuna toastie I’ve ever had : soggy toast, a few flakes of tuna, a bit of tasteless cheese. And I got a dodgy tummy straight after. It reminded me of the last time I went - Dux months before - when I ordered sour dough toast and after 20 minutes was given some slightly crisped, non toasted bread. There’s a reason why this place is mostly empty, most of the time …..
