This is possibly one of the best reasons to travel to Tregaron if you are visiting Aberystwyth or Carmarthen or anywhere in between. The setting is tranquil and whilst on the main(ish) roads to Aberystwyth (24 miles) it is an easy cycle ride, I know, I do it. There are many reasons to review a place, here are just my main reasons to come here. 1. The staff are exceptional, such a friendly welcome any day any time. 2. The food is home made and products are from local farms and businesses 3. Did I say quiet 4. The prices are amazing considering the quality I do not say this from just one visit, I travel a 14 mile round trip cycling at least 3 times a week in nice weather to come here.

Called in for brunch, staff weren't really inviting I'm afraid, menu looked good so thought we would see how it went, when our food came the salad was mouldy and we put it to the side, we did mention it was off and was asked if we wanted some new, my question is? These businesses need us to survive, why arent they making sure everything is perfect before it is delivered to the table? And why arent they customer focused?

The cafe has a nice setting, the staff member that greeted us was polite and found us a suitable table. Our order was taken pretty quick. The all went downhill from there. 5 meals were orders, all of which were fairly quick meals to cook. The food took about 1 hour to arrive, the place was empty so no idea why it took so long. They brought out 4 meals and then 1 was missing! They apologized for the mistake and offered to make it again. They did attempt to make up for it by taking the cost of the bill and also took off the cost of the drinks so that was appreciated. The ham was poor quality and not an attractive colour. So all round not a great experience so we wont return which is a shame because it could be a great place.

We booked a table for 3.15pm on a Sunday afternoon and when we arrived there were several tables with used crockery and cutlery which could be excused if they had just finished a busy lunch service but the staff looked bored rather than busy. After having to enquire what the protocol was (NB Covid) we were seated and given menus. After 20 minutes the waitress came to take our order and drinks arrived quickly but the food took half an hour. We were the only diners there and had ordered a Cheese Ploughmans sandwich, a Smoked Salmon, cream cheese & cucumber sandwich (both with side salad and crisps), Southern fried chicken (with chips and salad) and a portion of chips & "dip". The positives for the food were that the chicken tasted ok & there was ample salmon in the sandwich. Unfortunately that was where the positives ended. The plates were all hot, so the "side salad"or rather garnish and coleslaw was all warm, as were the crisps (!) and the bread going dry. There was very little cheese in the Cheese "Ploughmans" (or rather cheese and salad) sandwich and for £7 it was very disappointing. The portion of chips came with mayo as the "dip" and the oil tasted old; some chips had obviously been dipped 4 or 5 times at least. There was a distinct lack of care shown in the quality of most of the food and also a lack of attention in the service. Nobody came to ask if we were happy with our order, not even when we paid the bill (maybe this was a ploy to stop complaints) . A very underwhelming first visit which is a shame as it's a lovely location with some very interesting art work on the walls but the dead plant tower in the corner didn't help the ambience.

On Sunday 25th August, the Bank Holiday, my friend & I who live in Tregaron decided to visit the Riverbank Café for lunch. After waiting half an hour without any service we asked how long it might be before our lunch arrived to be told by the waitress "they are working on it", though what that actually meant we were not informed. When the meal finally came it was presented by the waitress and an older woman who said "Here's your lunch as you were cracking the whip" a comment that made us feel that we should not have asked where the meal was and just accepted the poor service. The meal itself left a great deal to be desired, the vegetables were fine but the beef was tough, stringy and undercooked, resembling more brisket than a fine sunday roast beef, similarly the Yorkshire puddings were stodgy and below par (being from Yorkshire this is particularly noticeable to me). All in all the experience was poor, the service terrible and the food unacceptable for the £11 price tag.

This cafe has been open a year, and I am so annoyed with myself that it has taken so long to try it out! I would recommend others to try it as soon as possible. The staff are helpful and attentive, the surroundings modern and clean but, most importantly, the food is very tasty and well presented. I have never been asked before if I wanted my coffee medium or strong, and I really appreciate being given the choice (I like my coffee as strong as you can make it!). The bread is wonderfully fresh with a crispy, crunchy crust, and the bacon is out of this world. The cakes are so tempting, but I am usually too full to partake! Today I tried the milkshake, and if your tastes run into the rich and creamy, I would advise you to start there . There is a wide selection of fresh and cupboard foods available in the shop, and a staggering array of unusual items including tea ☕️. The frozen section hi lights the rare breeds available on the farm. There is a choice of seating - outside by the goldfish pond, in the gallery surrounded by local artists, by the counter with its tempting cakes, etc. There is ample parking, and the property is disabled friendly.

I have read good reviews of this cafe/farm shop. Yes the farm shop is worth going to and in a lovely setting. Unfortunately on my family visit the menu was limited to a carvery. We popped in here on our way down from North to South Wales on a late Sunday afternoon. It was open until 6pm which is quite impressive for a Sunday! There is plenty of selection on the menu, catering for everyone from cream tea to detox soup. We ordered the Ploughman's sharer which I think was £10.95 and chips with a dip for £2.50. I think it's great value considering everything was homemade and locally sourced - you could definitely tell. While waiting for our meal we browsed the farm shop which had all sorts of delicious foods, again all local. Lovely, clean surroundings and plenty of places to sit, everywhere had a different atmosphere. Would be great for big get togethers.

This farm shop and restaurant just to the south of Tregaron on the A485 has only been open a few months, but it deserves to prosper. The atmosphere is modern (within an old building), clean, shiny, comfortable and avoiding pretentiousness. There is a small farm shop within a much larger, nicely appointed restaurant. OK Chai overview: Bit too spicy for us. It was OK Chai. Room for improvement of recipe and blend. Price of Chai (regular): £3.85 - O Coffee one was okay. The chai was a little inconsistent and clumpy but you know what, IT TRIED. And that is what matters most. What are we all if not a little inconsistent and clumpy? A little rough around the edges? I know I am. I appreciated the chai, and I will continue to do so. I also liked the barista dude he's a nice guy. - Overall rating 3/5 - <3 3.5/5 - Spice 3/5 - Consistency 2/5 - Price 3/5 - K I love coffee one's atmosphere. Very studious, however the chai recipe still needs to learn a lot. It was OK Chai, not blown away by it, but it wasn't bad. Very much in the middle, not failing, but not excelling. This is really reflected through the consistency, which felt a little gritty under the teeth. However, the staff were so lovely and they are absolutely amazing. A* for them. The Chai however? Solid C grade. - Overall rating 2.9/5 - Price 2.8/5 - Spice 3/5 - Milk options 4/5 - Smooth 2/5

We like the Coffee No 1 chain and as we were in Cardigan on holiday, we popped in their coffee shop, along with the dog, for a short while. As with all Coffee No 1 shops, the staff are lovely - they even gave us a bowl of water for the dog. The coffees and Welsh cakes are delicious and all in all, we spent a lovely 40 minutes or so in the shop.

Absolutely shocking service. The attitude on the person who has just served us was appalling !!!!! I don’t think she’d appreciate being treated in the same way. Practically threw the food at us and that wasn’t before stalling everything on the counter. Clearly everything was an issue. Sadly she didn’t wear a name badge but looking at previous complaints the manager has the same bad attitude so I’m guessing it was her. I have written a complaint to their head office and I hope she is reprimanded. In such a pandemic she is lucky to still be in employment. I won’t be calling again.
