Definitely a hidden gem! Blink and you’ll miss it. Staff were lovely! Very welcoming and friendly. We sat outside which was lovely on a hot sunny day as the sun has gone behind the building but it’s still warm with a lovely breeze. Definitely a dinner with a view. Prawns were lovely. Satay skewers were lovely. All very nice.

food had absolutely no flavour.

Classic Cantonese restaurant with beautiful river view, nearest station is Wapping, bus no 100 stops nearby. On Saturdays the area gets busier especially when weather is nice. Worth making effort to find this hidden gem.

Excellent food lovely atmosphere , we came here at the last minute so it was very full as it was Saturday , lovely atmosphere, staff very helpful and friendly , the food was amazing and reasonably priced , service was very fast also . Will be back

The food was good especially if you are a fan of the slightly more western version of chinese food, the service was actually fantastic and i felt very welcome. The prices were great for the area and having a view of the thames was awesome

We use this restaurant as all the local takeaways are not very good. We just had a basic set menu and it was very tasty, Chicken & Sweetcorn Soup, Duck and Pancakes, Sweet & Sour Pork, Sizzling Chicken and a prawn dish, Rice and Vegetables a couple of beers and a very enjoyable evening. A shame that it is closing down soon as we now need to find a replacement

We first came here about 18 years ago when we lived in Wapping. All of the team remember us every time. Great food as always. It’s a certainty we’ll be back soon! Thank you, as always for a great dining experience.

This was personally my first visit to the River View but my family and friends have been coming here for years, which says everything you need to know. The friendly attentive service along with the excellent food quality makes this restaurant a must go visit. Everything on the menu including the drinks are reasonably priced and although internally the restaurant could do with a little refurbishment this isn’t an issue and I will definitely be returning in the very near future.

It was just about on time. But the delivery man wouldn't come to the door! He made me come out to his car in the pouring rain. Remind me again what the point of ordering food to be delivered is? And the food was disgusting. We left most of it. I paid 58 pounds for this. It was just awful. I felt like I'd been conned. The dumplings especially were very obviously stale. It was just nasty. If I'd ordered it in a restaurant I would have sent it back.

The service was friendly efficient. It’s a comfy homely restaurant, no need to dress up as the furniture is well used and its a relaxed atmosphere. The food was fresh and delightful with a window seat overlooking the river.

Old-school 1990's Chinese food. High quality ingredients, lots of fresh chilli in the szechuan. Love it.

Mon épouse ma fille et moi sont allés à Londre pour voir le cirque du soleil donc nous sommes allés manger dans ce restaurant chinois pour l’entrée nous avons pris galettes de sésames et des nems les galettes était tres grasse et fade ainsi que les nems pour les plats principaux nous avons choisi boeuf aux bambous ,des pates chinois aux légumes et poulet,crevettes a l’ananas caramélisées et loup de mer avec sauce nous avons trouvé c’est plats banals tres peut de goût nous avons étés tres déçus

The crispy duck was our favourite so far and the service was quite good and fast!

Had the set menu option which was tasty and well portioned. Service was great and attentive on a busy night, all in all a good experience and we shall be returning

We stopped here and tried a few different dishes. We love the Chinese food at this restaurant. The restaurant has a beautiful design, fast and attentive service.

The food here was really good, and considering you are in London so were the prices, the service was good as well, it had lots of covers so getting a table on a Saturday evening without booking was possible. The large open planed dinning area is very big with its original steal beams on show in the restaurant giving it’s tell tell signs this was once one of the many old wear houses in the area. Set on the river Thames it was lovely seeing dusk set in and lights coming on all over the city. Try to get a window table! The staff were seen cleaning and doing a thorough job of it as well. It was very close to Wapping overground tube station so very accessible for a night out.

Our waitress was very kind and transparent, always nice to be around authentic people ! Food and drinks arrived quickly, there was a hair in my prawn toast, however this was fixed with utmost efficiency which I was extremely pleased with! Food was tasty and affordable, great value for money ! Coming from a hospitality background myself, this goes to show that mistakes don’t define the experience, but how the mistakes are handled makes all the difference ! Will come again ! Good job guys

I had the pleasure of visiting River View and was thoroughly impressed by the quality of their food. The standout dish was their lobster, which was cooked to perfection with a succulent and juicy texture. The crispy aromatic duck was also a standout dish, with crispy skin and tender meat that just melts in your mouth. The flavours of both dishes were well balanced and expertly executed. The restaurant's atmosphere was also top-notch, with friendly staff and a comfortable setting. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Chinese dining experience, and especially for those who are fans of lobster and crispy aromatic duck.

Food was good but not the best we have had we had to order more food because what we had was not enough also not cheap also this service charge which is getting more and more common you should be able to leave what you want especially has the more you spend the more charge you pay I think you should be grateful that people are using the restaurant

There was a good choice of dishes, food was fresh and flavoursome. The staff were attentative, polite and lovely to deal with. The restaurant itself is a little bit tired looking but was clean and had a good atmosphere during our dinner.

Very easy to get to by bus this restaurant has a superb location on the Thames with a small open patio and a very pleasant interior ambiance from an old warehouse conversion. The menu is a huge list of Chinese staples, a little generic but well and quickly prepared with good sized portions. Service is friendly and efficient, prices are reasonable with an adequate drinks list at surprisingly low prices compared to the London norm. Not outstanding or particularly special this restaurant is worth a visit if in the area for standard Chinese cuisine.

Slightly generic Chinese restaurant, good location on the Thames with deck, in converted warehouse, pleasant ambience, easily accessed by bus. Extensive menu of staples , reasonably priced including wine. Food was quickly prepared and served in generous portions. Service was friendly and attentive . Not a destination restaurant but a good choice for Chinese if in the area, would definitely return.

We held a 40 + guest birthday party 23rd August here. From planning to the actual day it was faultless. The manager was very helpful as I was constantly calling up to clarify details. We use a private room with the river view. On the day the food was freshly cooked, good portions. All the guest were pleased with the food of excellent quality. Wonderful service from the staff and very professional, even with the restaurant at full capacity. My mother, the birthday girl was really happy and we are grateful to receive such amazing service. Thank you!!!

My food turned up initially over 2 hours early ehen i wasnt in but after speaking to the restaurant they were very helpful and a fresh order was sent later. It seems the delivery times on just eat don't match the restaurant's opening hours. The food was delicious though and I will definitely be ordering again.

My daughters 18th birthday We had a lovely meal it was a lot busier than it’s been for a long time. We go here quite a lot as it’s one of our favourite restaurants. We drive all the way from Essex and have never once been disappointed.

The restaurant was really busy (which is great to see) but that did mean service was slower than usual. This is one of the best Chinese restaurants around, and we’ll worth a visit. I’m fortunate to live close by so visit often.

I booked a table for 10 people. Everyone enjoyed the food as there were so many choices. And all delicious. The service was also excellent, staff were very attentive. Overall we had a lovely time and we will definitely be back.

I really enjoy this restaurant. Ambience is always nice and quiet and the attention is very good. Nothing wrong with the food either and there’s a good offer for the lunch set menu.

Other than the great location I have nothing good to say about river view ! It’s just your regular 1980’s out-dated Chinese restaurant. Amongst other things poor quality ingredients badly cooked in a dreadful setting. I was really hungry when I came here so I should have enjoyed the food even more but it was terrible. Satay chicken was dry, Peking ribs they forgot the sauce but was over cooked and once again dry. Chicken in cashew nuts and beef in black bean sauce was slimy and the ho fun noodles were all stuck together with just the sauce on the outside. I don’t understand how there is so many positive reviews ? I am beginning to question open tables recommendations ! Basically apart from the location everything needs to change. Come on shape up Wapping doesn’t deserve this restaurant !

Stumbled across this place on Google and so happy I did. I didn't have a Chinese I was loyal to in London and now i do! The first thing you notice is the absolutely gorgeous views of the city and the balcony over the Thames, when the night fell there were pretty lights everywhere, really captivating. Food was all cooked freshly, tasted incredible and a massive variety. the duck and pancakes were a particular highlight. Service was attentive, friendly and not too much, but someone was always on hand when I needed them. Really nice atmosphere, buzzy. You need to go here!

The place was buzzing and the food very good. They were very focused on making sure we all felt comfortable the tables were spaced out and between customers chairs and table were cleaned discreetly. They have some great wine reasonably priced.

The pods are warm and lovely! The service was fantastic especially Meet and Arprit, they were both very polite and provided us with everything we needed. The location is lovely and it’s a good experience. We will return again!

Great food as always from River View

The food from River View is always excellent, the delivery service very friendly and speedy. We are always delighted with it, and order from them most weeks of the year.

The food is nice but it’s nothing spectacular. Delivery took an hour and 45 minutes and the the food is overpriced for very small portions. No free prawn crackers on an order of £40 is something that needs to be looked at by the restaurant.

Food was phenomenal / far superior to a normal takeaway so you could tell it was from a proper Chinese restaurant. Slightly more pricey than your usual but definitely worth it. Tried some unusual things like the soft shell crab & pepper asparagus, spicy aubergine in addition to the usual - all excellent. Will be frequenting again and can’t wait to go in properly when it’s open again.

Usually like River View a lot, but got the order wrong this time (got ho fun with black bean sauce not ho fun with beef & beansprouts). Also took 75 minutes. Food was nice still (it is a good restaurant) and an honest mistake, but still...

Breakdown of order: Wun tun - (burnt won ton wrapper and no content) inedible Spare ribs with chilli and salt - fine, not a lot of spice but that's a taste preference Prawn crackers - (stale) inedible, Crispy shredded beef with chilli - tasty, Spicy beef in chilli & black bean - ok, Special fried rice - ok, Chips - (under cooked and some rotten looking) inedible. So disappointing - does not warrant an average five star rating based on this order.

River view Chinese restaurant at Wapping has a great menu & the food is delicious. It has lovely views with an outside seating area. I would really recommend this restaurant. xx
