Not the best… the chips were soggy and undercooked, the mushy peas were just peas and somehow tasted salty. Won’t be going there again!

Been going to river queen for over 24 yrs, even though I live now on the other side of Chester, special sweet curry is unbelievably nice and its what I've been buying from them for 24 years. No one else does this dish, and unlike other Chinese take ways in Chester they sell proper prawn crackers

Got the special satay it was just okay nothing special and it's pretty expensive too but I think all the takeaways around garden lane are overpriced EDIT after a few months here I've realised the prices are pretty much the same citywide so I guess I was just used to the cheaper Manchester prices lol friendly staff tho 👍🏻

The chips and spicy chicken is the best i have had in the whole of Chester and believe me, I have had lots of it. The meals are very affordable and the quantity is very big. The lady is very friendly, I'm definitely coming back for more.

Food is no good. Ordered fried rice and the rice like being rinsed 100 times and stick together. Bamboo shoot is surely canned food since no taste at all. Just avoid 1 star because price is low.

Asked for a certain meal, and would not leave a certain item out off the meal because I'm a vegetarian. Staff very rude. I'll go elsewhere from now on. Don't go here.

Had a delivery last night, fantastic customer service, very clear with our order and also made changes needed, food come in good time and was perfect to eat. If you want salt and pepper chicken it's the best place to go. I'm sure I'll be ordering again in future.

Lady said the Chinese word 'crazy' after I left when I came by at 23:30pm & asked for cod & chips. (She said all the cod & chips ran out) I felt embarrassed that I came by fairly late even they close at 23:45pm. I'm going to find another place that is more welcoming

Possibly the best Chinese I’ve had, with an incredibly varied menu! My only complaint is their chowmein, it’s very sauce heavy and I prefer it dryer.

We were packinh to go back home to Southampton. I asked hubby to see if he would get us a Chip Supper. He came back with some Fish for us and some Chicken for me, and a portion of Chips. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, both the Fish and the Chicken. The Chips were really tasty too ! Will definately be going back there if we come back to Chester again. Thankyou !

Great food, big portions, a garden quarter institution

Ordered Chicken curry and sweet and sour chicken, was very disappointed. Curry did not taste like Chinese curry, the chicken was rubbery and the sauce was like water. The sweet and sour chicken tasted like cheap chicken nuggets. Will not be going back there at all would recommend you stay clear if you're wanting Chinese from here, chips were however nice.

If you want some Chinese takeout, be prepared to wait atleast 20 minutes. And if you think you're in a chinese takeout, you would think theyd have chopsticks. Hell nah these guys are fake af. Would not recommend spending 7 pounds on a terrible portion of chow mein. This is worse than Whites dining hall.

Ordered there special chow mein with egg fried rice it was massive the place looked nice and clean polite staff but looking on there menus it says HALAL is that there meat if so I'll be stepping aside.....

If I could give no stars I would have. I ordered beef in black bean sauce. It was bland to say the least. Not one black been near it. I can only describe it as stir fry in gravy, watery tasteless gravy at that. The fried rice was overcooked to the point of burning.....It's now, well 90% of it, in the canal. The benefit of boat life. I should have read the last review. Avoid....it is terrible food.

This chippy used to be really nice but after what I received tonight I can safely say that I will not be ordering from here again. The chicken curry was watered down, the rice tasted like it had been rinsed with either washing up liquid or perfume and the prawn crackers were stale! Not worth £12.00. The only thing I can say was 'decent' was the chips!
