RITA'S COCKTAIL BAR LIMITED in Southampton

Went there for lunch. We were the only people there, but we still had to wait for 45 minutes to get our order, which was cold when it arrived. Staff were barely available and I had to go and find someone to complain about the food. Really disappointing.

Everything at Rita's is absolutely fantastic! On Sundays, they specialize in roasts, and we decided to give their pork and beef a try – both were incredibly delicious and generously portioned. The flavors were rich and satisfying, leaving us thoroughly impressed. Not only was the food exceptional, but the cocktails and mocktails were also top-notch. Each drink was expertly crafted, delivering a perfect balance of flavors that complemented our meal wonderfully. The ambiance at Rita's is warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for friends to gather. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, perfect for a relaxing get-together. Overall, Rita's exceeded our expectations in every way. From the delicious roasts to the delightful drinks and lovely setting, it's a place we'll definitely be returning to for more memorable gatherings!

Arrived at 19:45 and was informed that there is an hour wait on food which we accepted upon entry. However, had to wait an to order the food and asked the staff multiple times to order drinks. Once the waitress came over to take the food order a gentleman interrupted and stated there is an hour wait on food. Which we again accepted and stated that we would like to order as no one has approached our table. Once the food arrived it was incorrect and starters did not arrive. The food was very mediocre with quality, not worth the money. We have to ask multiple times for the bill to various staff members and requested the incorrect food that arrived to be taken off the bill. Finally, left the venue at approximately 22:40. Extremely poor food and quality of service. Not worth the time or money

A delicious eatery that's a must if near..

The music enticed us in and the beautiful blonde blazered hostess kept us. Wide selection of exciting cocktails and delicious draught beer. The music had us grooving, all thanks to the brand new DJ. The staff were great, strongly recommend, have a great night my party people!

We visited Rita's to try the Sunday Roast, we have to say that it was delicious & fantastic value for money. We had the sirloin of beef & there was plenty of it, it was really tender, cooked perfectly & had a lovely flavour, the roast potatoes could do with being slightly crispier but there were plenty of them & lashings of lovely gravy. The place was a little quiet but at least the service was quick & friendly, we will definitely go again.

Why do you play such loud music so early in the evening?! Booked for social drinks, now this bar is set up for seating and drinking not really dancing as it's a small venue which would normally be so nice. Our table was booked for 7:30 on a Saturday yes music is to be expected on a Saturday night and we planned to stay all evening but the music they were playing was so unbearably loud, believe me were not being party poopers, we were a group of 25 - 40 yr olds. I would understand if they turned the music up later on in the evening but we couldn't even hear eachother talking across the table, when ordering drinks we couldn't hear the staff and did mention how loud it was but the hour we were there the music seemed to just get louder and louder and spoiled the atmosphere. We 100% are all for everyone enjoying their time and have spent time in various cocktail bars but having such loud music so early in the evening just put us off staying. We moved to another bar where music was still playing but we could at least still talk and enjoy our evening. For the size of venue and the set up they need to think about the volume levels! Shame as the staff are lovely and drinks were good.

Been here a couple of times for roast dinner now, and they do an absolutely fabulous roast dinner! Great portion size and generous amount of gravy, which is rare in a lot of places now. Beef was cooked beautifully! Highly recommend!!! Edit - absolutely gutted they've stopped doing roast dinners. Very poor decision because they will lose customers including me ☹️

The owner (Nicky) introduced herself to us at the bar and proceeded to inform us in a very scummy manner that it is table service only. I can only assume that Rita is an alias that she had developed over the years due to so much negativity (from her direction only of course). Nicky (Rita) needs to develop her emotional intelligence as I would imagine the vast majority of her catchment area has nowhere near the level of thick skin that a person such as myself has.

Nicky (who is Rita) turns out to be an awfully rude person who has no interest in making a nice environment for customers. If you try to order at the bar you’re sent to “the staff” to be seated. At least she’s making good money by adding miniature pegs to cocktails… £25 for 2 gin and tonics from a lovely staff with a rude boss.

Bao bun is very authentic. And we also ordered pink lady and water lemon fizz, very tasty! Wonderful Atmosphere. Suitable for dating.

This is the best service I have ever had in Southampton ! I came here for my birthday today and the staff was very welcoming. Needless to say he also wanted to know what to do next and took good photos of us. Will come back to this restaurant in the future!

Wow what a night. The music, the food and the vibes were great. First of all I would like to shout out the dj who was spinning some absolute classics, great guy (thanks for the chips). Also a big shout out to the team especially Pedro, Prince and Big Mo? (the bouncer) all were most understanding of our needs and very welcoming of our return later on in the evening, even given us our private space. Definitely will return.

As a foreigner I don't know the the legal law about drinks quantity however I think that 5£ isn't worth the drink spirit.It would be better to choose beer!

Was sat outside and waitress took cocktail order. Paid up front before dronks which was very odd. Drinks took 30 mins to arrive then waitress asked how we wanted to pay. Thankfully we had receipt to prove we paid 30 mins ago. Not great service and had to chase for drinks.

Lovely cocktails here just too expensive (£55 for four drinks) to give it 5 stars. The cocktails aren't that good!

Enjoyed a lovely Mother’s Day meal, and there was a relaxed ambience in the Restaurant. We experienced great service, it was prompt and efficient, and the young server with curly hair was very attentive

We had a night out with my colleagues. Rita's is reasonably priced. The chicken and champagne pie was delicious and good portion. One of our waiter was lovely and very friendly, the other one must have had a bad day. 10% service charge is reasonable. We enjoyed our visit. Thank you

I'll be honest, we had been at a bottomless brunch before we went to Rita's. We were two sheets to the wind so I'm not sure how reliable this review will be. I shall attempt to keep it factual. We got espresso martinis that cost a tenner each. There were pretty lights and fake flowers. Staff seemed confused by the gaggle of middle aged women that stumbled through the door (totally fair). Toilets were nice and they were clean.

Only given them 1 star because that was the only option, would be 0 stars. We came here for some drinks after a work meal. As I walked in the lady on the door gave a snidey remark “I thought there was only 4 of you” which I replied no there’s more of us. We ordered our drinks and I went to the toilet when I came back my work colleagues said they’ve taken our chairs away and were not welcome. So we left, I believe it’s because our face didn’t fit. Shame because this was the most empty bar on Oxford street, I don’t believe they will survive another year here with that attitude. Will never go here again disgusting customer service

Certainly the best roast dinner in Southampton. We have had roast in loads of restaurants and no where has been as good as this. Will definitely be back, thank you.

Went for food ..27 or so pound on a lobster roll..no sides.literaly a hot dog roll with bits of lobster ..had to go to another restaurant after for I was so hungry.definitly over priced .service was 5star

I love it here it feels so classy! I’ve been in and had cocktails and mock-tails on separate occasions. There’s a cocktail that’s biscoff flavoured and comes in a martini glass (I want to say it’s called a biscoff Martini but that’s probably not it at all) and a mocktail called the butterfly pea something or other (I don’t know how I’ve forgotten the name of it that’s going to bug me for days). I mention these two because they are my absolute favourites! I’ve only ever been in the late evening, they decorate their drinks stunning and you have live music and a beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Had a Sunday roast and thought it overpriced for average food. My wife had a cocktail which was expensive and nowhere near what the cocktail should actually taste like.

Popped in as we were walking past for a couple of cocktails with friends Ended up having some small plates to share. Incredible food Service impeccable, giving advice on drinks and if we had ordered enough food for the four of us. Decor great, atmosphere great….definitely gonna return for a Sunday roast

Superb Sunday lunch, as always, Yorkshire puddings the best and no problem catering for our large party. We "discovered" Rita's last summer while looking for a venue for a celebration. At Rita's it was a total success and many in the party go back again and again!

Amazing food (the Sunday Roast is off the charts!), Friendly staff, and live music with DJ and sometimes even with Sax 🎷 This place upholds the legacy of the great Oxford Street

We went for a hen do. Decor is nice and it had a good atmosphere, but we were a bit disappointed that they didn't try and sit our group together - we were spaced over three tables. I had chicken burger and a side salad. Burger was a nice fillet but tiny, and salad was three little gem leaves, some parmesan and a drizzle of basil oil - paid over a fiver for this. Expected better /more for the prices. Beer was over £7 a pint. We had a good time, but this wasn't necessarily facilitated by the venue, we could've been anywhere! For the prices you're paying I thought the toilets could've been better - wonky seats etc.

Me, my partner and two of our friends went for a Sunday roast recommend by a friend. I don’t really do reviews but had to and it was actually the best roast dinner we had ever had! Best food, best service and what a lovely place! We have booked for next Sunday and can’t wait! 10/10 and I’m recommending to all my friends and family so impressed thank you all.

Amazing roast for a Sunday plus the drinks menu is top tier, staff always very polite and look after you. The lobster Mac and cheese is also a winner! I come here from outside of Southampton and it's well worth the visit. Thank you Richard and team

I am absolutely mortified by this place. Me and my friends went to this place on a Saturday night for drinks. The drinks took a very long time to arrive and were the wrong orders and sizes. At the end of the night when we had to pay. I said I was not happy paying the service charge as the service was not good! The blonde lady then said “ you can afford Loiboutin shoes but you can’t afford service charge” I have never been so shocked by such a rude comment by someone in CUSTOMER SERVICE! I would NOT recommend this place. There are plenty nicer places to go in Oxford street. Save yourself the disappointment and go anywhere else!

A great vibe, fantastic cocktails and nice atmosphere too. Staff are friendly and efficient. Not tried the food but I've heard it's good. My go-to place for an Old Fashioned and a relaxing drink in the heart of Oxford Street.

Excellent cocktails available. Service is good, too. Great vibe. Reservations highly recommended. Went to book for a Tuesday recently was you'd they weren't open. Will definitely revisit :)

I booked to have our Christmas party this year at Rita’s Cocktail Bar, and I am extremely glad that I did. Even though we were a fairly sizeable group the service was absolutely fantastic, the food was incredible and the atmosphere made for a great festive gathering. Would highly recommend this place 👍🏻

Rude, passive aggressive front of house manager. My friends and I walked in looking for a table, not realising they want to seat you themselves here. The front of house manager walked after us and got our attention saying “I was shouting ‘hello’ at you but you kept on walking” - well it is pretty loud with the DJ in there! She showed us to a table and we sat down but one of my friends wasn’t feeling well so we decided to just call it a night before ordering any drinks. We left after just a few minutes and the same lady shouted after us “Bye, bye, BYE THEN!” as we walked out the door. Awful attitude for someone in a customer service role.

Really disappointing experience. Food was extremely small, tasteless and overpriced. Drinks okay. Music was too loud for the dining area and choice of music didn't match the mood. I wouldn't recommend this bar/kitchen.

First time visiting this bar on Saturday (15th) for a birthday, group of 10 of us had the best time, amazing DJ playing the best tunes, we danced all night. Friendly staff, loved it! New favourite evening destination.

Nice drinks but utterly disappointed at the end when waited for ages once requesting the bill to then be told ‘I’ve never had someone pay like this before’ as I was getting the change out for the bill by the owner. She was abrupt and rude and on this note I would not return to the bar. It was embarrassing, no patience from her front at all but I was happy when having to wait for the bill in the first place.

Our waitress ran down two streets to return my bag tonight after I accidentally left it behind. She also gave excellent advice on cocktails and fantastic service all night. Please pass on my thanks - thank you so much! We had a lovely time.

Booked this for a meal the night before our holiday, the place is very well decorated and the staff were very friendly and helpful, the cocktails are amazing and the DJ was fun, however it's not a "Full meal" type place and that's our fault for not checking, but the few bits we did have were excellent, the sliders were well cooked and the prawns were excellent, for a night out with cocktails, music and a few snacks it's a brilliant place.

Fantastic looking place let down it's service and prices. Staff tend to be distracted by customers too often and forget that there are people waiting. Plus you're charged a service charge on top of every round. E.g. £15 for a cocktail and a bottle of Estrella? Sorry but if the service was impeccable you wouldn't mind but it just didn't hit mark for me..

The welcome is not great, staff don’t realise the customer is the most import, beer not cold enough and cocktail to a low standard, both in terms of volume and preparation and forgetting how it should be “delivered”. Together with the time taken to deliver the drinks I would recommend going to Marco’s beer is better, cocktail is better and service is better so just a much better experience - don’t know what is attracting people here ??

We were OVER CHARGED and then were confronted by the nasty, arrogant manager who didn't believe us, so we ended up just leaving (out of pocket). Would highly recommend skipping this place for one of the other bars/restaurants in the street. I'm never coming back.

A lovely choice of cocktails on order with the opportunity to order your tried and tested favourites. Great atmosphere, though booking is a must if you want a table, which is what we did.

I loved the vibe in this bar and all the staff were so friendly. Being from London I have my pic of some amazing places to drink as well as some amazing bars to hang out in. This was my first time at Rita’s in Southampton and it was just a brilliant night. It was nice to meet the owners who were very friendly and welcoming, the cocktails were amazing and a special shout out to Nelson, the bar manager; he now has pride and place of making the best chilli margarita that I have had in the UK. His cocktail making ability and his personality made the night a brilliant one. If you’re ever at Rita’s, ask for Nelson because he is the man!

Came here for the Queens Jubilee celebrations - 03/06/2022. The atmosphere was fantastic! We had the BBQ which was way too much food for 2 but was really tasty and the presentation was top notch. The staff were fantastic! We moved tables twice - once because we decided to eat so wanted a proper table and then it started to rain so we wanted to go inside. The staff were more than accommodating and even told us to leave everything and they'd bring it all inside for us which they did. We felt the service was better than some 5 star hotels. Very reasonably priced given the quality of the food, drinks and service. We'll definitely be going back!

I went to Rita's on a Sunday afternoon to have a roast and I can only say the most wonderful things! The meat (chicken) was so soft that almost melted in my mouth, the potatoes were the best I have ever had, the Yorkshire pudding was handmade and the Cauliflower cheese was so creamy and tasty. Finally the portions were just amazing! I struggled really hard to finish my food because it was so well served. The staff was respectful, caring and always checking if we needed anything. We had an amazing time and it was worth every penny! Well done to everyone!! ;) And thank you so much!

I recently visited Ritas for my birthday celebration but unfortunately it wasnt a postive experience. Firstly i booked the venue as they provided a gluten free menu option. whilst having this option i was informed that select items wouldnt be available due to the oil being contaminated even though i had prebooked and they were aware i was GF. i felt that the server made me feel responsible for the fact that you offered gluten free but could not provide this. Throughout the evening, i felt the host was rude, abrupt and unhelpful. The servers was also rude. i always feel anxious due to being gluten free when i dine out for food and this has definitely not helped. I wish it was more of a positive feedback being left but I feel I have been left with no choice. i will not be recommending this place and also will not be returning.

A private venue for 30th Birthday in town, the food was fabulous, the service was quick and professional, great music. Our 80 guests all had lots of amazing cocktails. Thank you to Nicky and Richard work so hard to make the night so special.

Lovely bar, nice to have something in Southampton that’s a little bit more special. The staff were friendly and super helpful and the food was really good quality. Would make a perfect venue for a girls night or a special island occasion. The little touches are just lovely. Highly recommend and can’t wait to have an excuse to return.

Came here for valentine's day, the food was lovely. The restaurant and the atmosphere in the place was great. However, service was lacking, one hour for starters to arrive and then nearly another hour for the main.

We normally come here for cocktails on a Friday evening so thought we would check it out for a roast dinner on Sunday. Firstly, we got seated without any menus and then had a waitress come over to take our order even though we hadn’t seen a menu. We asked for a veggie roast in which they brought over a side of cabbage with bacon bits in, which we returned and the waiter clearly thought it amusing as he took it away. The veggie option was this poorly put together bit of rice, which feels strange to have as it part of a roast. No one checked on us when we were eating and when the waiter came to collect our empty plates he just said ‘oh the chef will be happy that you finished it all, thanks for the feedback’ he didn’t even give us an opportunity for us to say actually we really did not enjoy it and the service wasn’t great. We genuinely just ate it all because we were so hungry (except the cabbage of course). It was very expensive for a roast £18 per person for 2 poor quality roasts. Will definitely not be coming back here for food and does not feel very veggie friendly.

Staff have attitudes problems, first round of drinks was £11 then ordered the same drinks and it was £24?! They wouldn’t have said anything if we didn’t notice. Refused to serve us after 11:30 so we had to leave
