Khan's Restaurant & Grill (Southampton) in Southampton

I've been here before approx just before covid. The first time was better. This time unfortunately the standard had dropped considerably. The food barely had flavour and the meat was very dry. I mentioned this to the waitress but she didn't do anything about it. So I spoke to another waitress who said she'll speak to the manager. The manager never arrived. She seemed scared to speak to him. Other than that, the portions are very small for the price you'll pay. Parking options are terrible. There is a paid car parking nearby but in the day it's full and after 8pm the 10 minute walk to the restaurant doesn't feel safe. I won't be coming again and I don't recommend you do either.

I do not recommend the restaurant for the following reasons . 1- The Salad is very poor . 2-The food is not worth the money especially with stupid charge of service per customer( 3.5 pounds). 3- most of the Asian restaurants provide free tea and dessert but this restaurant does not . 4- The price is even more expensive than other asian restaurants in Southampton

First the restaurant doesn't provide any discounts for students or Nhs workers 2- the price very expensive compared with other restaurants in the area and recently they add £3.50 per costumer for service which is unfair and radiculous .

We come here quite often they took my order we order lassie but didn't get we didn't get even water they not even ask for any but they put 10% service charges.

Not value for money at all 4 adults 5 children ordered 2 big platters should serve 5/6 people twice so basically 12 people on menu amounting £180 which absolutely not problem but the entire food that’s arrived was shocking was not enough for 4 /5 people forget about 12 the 2 karai that came had probably had 7/8 chicken and lamb.. where it’s state 1/2 kg .. guys don’t rip people off

“Had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. We found a hair in our food and politely requested a replacement, but the staff was extremely rude and unprofessional in their response. Instead of addressing the issue properly, they behaved disrespectfully. Good customer service is just as important as good food, and unfortunately, this place lacks both. Definitely wouldn’t recommend!”

I should of never walked in when I saw the 'K' letter missing from their name outside the restaurant. Also, the food was missing taste, the lamb curry was absolutely awful. Me and my wife also got bad gas and really messed up stomachs, that lasted for a few days. AVOID.

Overall the food is great. Specially the FISH and Kababs and plain rice tastes like heaven. However the Lamb Karahi was better before. Now it seems like the Meat is cooked separately and the tomato paste has been cooked separately. No taste at all. Overall I will recommend KHAN restaurant. Don’t forget the lentils Soup 🍲

We friends (Abbas, Mehdi, Saqib) visited this restaurant 1st time and the food quality was excellent. we didn’t find this kind of taste from the last week in UK. Recommended for the others in this area as number one reastaurant.

What a beautiful place! From the moment we walked in we were warmly welcomed! The menu has lots of lovely food on offer! I was stuck for choice! I had the lamb tika kebab and this was absolutely delicious. The meat was incredible. Melted in the mouth and so flavoursome. Partner had the chicken kebab and that was also flavoursome and like butter to eat so tender! We were pleasantly surprised to be given salad and lentil soup before the meal. This soup is so good. The place itself is very clean and tidy. We will definitely return!

Not a great experience... food was bland, the lamb to rice ratio for the qabuli pulao wasn't great, meat was dry, there was 1 medium piece of lamb with so much rice and the rice lacked flavour. The chapli kebab had too many tomatoes and the curry was overpowering with tomatoes. Service was better than the food. Atmosphere wasn't good as we were sitting next to a large group of people who were obnoxiously loud and had zero courtesy.

Food sometimes tasty, terrible service. The meats were lovely. Salad seemed sad. Bread was okay but not great. Options for sharing platters is very limited. We were not greeted at the door by any wait staff. When I asked about our booking (we had accessibility requirements), we were ignored and had to seat ourselves. Our party of 4 sat at a 4 person table, before the wait staff almost immediately asked us to relocate to a table for 6 - despite us having clearly visible mobility issues (a person on crutches). You want tap water for the table? Forget it. Additionally, two of the paid drinks we ordered simply didn't show up and we never received an explanation why. Trying to pay for the bill, it was very difficult to hail any of the staff using eye contact. I don't think I've ever been in a restaurant where a guest clearly straining themselves to look in your direction (and not at their food) isn't a sign that your guest would like something. Two servers made eye contact and stared back for several seconds, and both ignored me. I had to stand up and walk over to (the manager? stood by) a till. Overall I was disappointed with the experience.

Really really tasty, I love it. We went as a group and ordered the big platter with everything, absolutely fantastic! The lamb was soft and tender, chicken juicy and tasty plus the fish was stunning. The front of house staff are delightful and bend over backwards to ensure a good time is had by all.

Honestly speaking, It is one of the best if not the best in Southampton. Great taste, amazing service and clean. We are an Arabic small family just had a delicious lunch there, and we all impressed by the food and service. Thank you khan restaurant, and wish you more and more of the success.

Hello guys, I am an Uber driver✊ I came to Southampton once again today again here we go! and dropped my customer at the Norwegian cruise lane a gigantic ship, so went to Khan’s Rasturant and I ordered soup, suddenly smelled the barbecue, the smell was amazing, also the Dal soup was amazing and delicious too, I recommend it to you guys, if you come to Southampton you should try this, the atmosphere here is lovely and the fresh bread was made on spot it smelled crazy attractive. Great time and I enjoyed it so I recommend this Rasturant for you all. It was my first time here! When I come next time to Southampton, I am going to be not missing this tasty soup again , “I just wanted to say how amazing the soup was! Every spoonful was full of flavor and absolutely delicious. It was the perfect comfort meal, and I’ll definitely be ordering again soon. Thank you for such a wonderful dish!”

We had dinner tonight.. Food was delicious.. Specially the Chapli kebab.. Though my husband liked the lamb chops as well.. Their staff was friendly but we didn't like their service at all.. Cause when your left over foods that you want for takeway food.. You have to do that by your own.. That thing we didn't like..

I visited expecting authentic Pakistani cuisine as advertised, but it turns out this is actually an Afghan restaurant, and unfortunately, the food was a huge disappointment. The naan was so hard it was practically inedible, and the chicken Karahi was overwhelmed with large chunks of ginger and tasteless and bland , making it very unpleasant to eat. To make matters worse, what was supposed to be tarka dal looked nothing like tarka dal but boiler lentils. I want to caution anyone who might be drawn in by the promise of good Pakistani food – this was hands down the worst dining experience we’ve had

Went for a meal order was taken promptly. We ordered Charsi karahi, lamb chops, Tika kebab, chapli kebab. They were served with bread and.rice. Lentil soup and.salad was complimentary. The food came in reasonable time was hot, and the taste was original. The karahi and chapli kebab stood out and had the original taste. The.prices were reasonable and.the service was friendly. Thank you for serving such amazing and authentic food, I'd highly recommend this place.

The family is so delicious! The lamb chops and chicken are both delicious! And it’s very, very tender. The most important thing is that it’s such a cheap meal! Come and eat! Recommended, it has become a canteen haha.

Seemed OK at the start however customer service skills were lacking. We went for my 30th but it was not worth the hype. The complimentary dhaal (lentils) were the best thing about the whole meal. The chicken karahi was not at all a karahi, it was smothered with tomatoes. The rice was disgraceful, we've had afghan rice and its so delicious this was not. Chicken wings tasted nice on the outside but gooey in the inside.

Pretty good afghan restaurant. It’s quite clean, food quality is better than most halal restaurants. Food amount is okay, not that cheap but we have big stomach. Hopefully the ventilation could be improved

Wow what a beautiful place to dine out, was very pleased with the food quality and level of service. Traditional Afghan food available here made to the highest standard. Me and my family were there from Birmingham on a short vacation and decided to dine here, thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommended.

Been to Khans too many times to count now! With different family and friends. Always enjoyed the food, atmosphere and overall service! Staff are always friendly. Chappli kebab is amazing, as you'd find in Pakistan. The karai and qabuli pulao and equally amazing too! Highly recommended! Also, for children who don't eat spice, the Mumtaz kebab is perfect!

We recently visited the resturant on 14/06. There should be zero stars to Select as well…The nan bread offered was hard as wood, requested for fresh one , the manager was quite rude and misbehaved by gestures!! Didnt not lik the service, they have waitress’s which dont listen and pay attention to you even if the resturant is not busy and you are one of the only customers sitting… overall food is good but service and managers attitude was really unpleasant! Dont recommend as the first option food, keep it 3rd or 4rth to be honest!

Ordered my food from khan’s restaurant, Got my food what I excepted , the food was amazing, specially chapli kebab was exactly like you get in Peshawar. The tika, chicken,kofta kebabs and lam chops was cooked very delicious qabuli rice was testy. Highly recommend for dining or takeaway ❤️

The Chapli kebab and the grilled chicken I'd nice, freshly prepared alongside the naan. Don't get the breaded chicken tenders, just cheap frozen packet tenders. The naan was hard and cold. Service was a little laid back. Large restaurant

Good Afghani food but expensive

The food wasn’t very nice, charsi karahi had no real taste to it, the chapli kebab was mild, didn’t like the daal soup and the oreo milkshake didn’t taste like oreo, just tasted like milk. Customer service also wasn’t very good, not very helpful, even forgot to bring the milkshake. Wouldn’t come here again

Definitely a 5 star. The best Afghan restaurant in the UK. Their Qabuli has the original Afghan taste.

Love this restaurant, delicious food

Came here once last year and I loved the food. Went back a second time and was not impressed. Naan was rock hard, chicken was chewy, dry and over done, lamb chops were chewy and so so bland… I could go on.

The kebab was actually really dry the tika kebab was dry and cofta kebab was very oily and the bread was old.

Very pathetic..took 2 hours just to make chicken karahi.. Will never come back

Charsi Karahi. Oh my God, it was just tomato soup and boiled lamb. Had a terrible taste. Went there for iftar with family and got very disappointed. 👎 The only good thing was that the lentil soup was very nice.

The food was fresh and delicious We have ordered many dishes for the entire family. All of us were so delighted with taste and awesome service. I recommend to all. Many thanks for serving best food I will be seeing you Khans Grill soon.
