Really wonderful and unique culinary experience and the staff are both knowledgeable and really friendly. It’s best suited for an intimate dinner and I think negative reviews are an adverse reaction to that. But come with four people at most and you’ll have an absolutely wonderful experience.

Service was amazing, our waitress was extremely knowledgeable and patient in explaining the menu to us, it was obvious she knew the menu extensively and was very good in making sure we picked the choices suitable for us. For starters, we had a grilled shrimp and the beef tartare, both were amazing. The sauce for the shrimp was delicious and the beef tartare tasted fresh. For mains, we shared the cornbread which had the perfect balance of sweet and savoury. We also had the fish (which was disappointingly a little dry but the sauce was still great) and the lamb which was perfectly cooked and charred. We finally had the dessert bun which was also extremely tasty. I was initially worried about the service, costs and portion sizes from the reviews but I can 10000% say I had the complete opposite experience. Service was amazing and we were stuffed full. We were pleasantly surprised at the bill, it wasn't too expensive, considering how tasty the food was, we felt it was good value for money. Credit definitely needs to go to our waitress for helping us out too!

Hugely overhyped restaurant. Some of the food was good, some wasn't. Some drinks were good, some weren't. The prawns were fine, the steak tartare-ish dish was padded out with so many tiny radish cubes that my dining companion (a chef) felt the experience of the meat itself was totally compromised. He enjoyed his lamb. One dish, the vegetarian main (a remedial, flavourless stuffed courgette stump at £26 which, had I made myself at home, I'd have ditched on completion before giving up and ordering in), was so poor I had to insist they remove it from the bill - they had left it on despite me explaining, when they finally asked while clearing the largely uneaten plate, that it was very poorly executed and I couldn't eat it. The restaurant manager then came over to me to tell me she'd tried it and that I was wrong - which we found incredibly rude. We had drunk and ordered generously, our bill for two people was £200, so I felt this churlish, stubborn refusal to accept my very valid complaint on one key item showed a lack of experience and finesse. To treat customers with that level of contempt for simply pointing out a shortfall is unacceptable - restaurants should thrive on feedback, and be adept at managing it gracefully - especially from very well seasoned fine diners who paid a lot for light meal. The rest of the team were delightful. There are far better small kitchens in Soho with more consistent chefs - go to Ducksoup or 10 Greek St.

Marta and I had such a lovely experience front to back yesterday at Rita's. Our 2145 booking was happily accommodated when we checked in around 21:00. Rob was really attentive and gentle but in no way too much so. We got two gratis Gilda Martinis whilst we looked at the menu, I smiled all the way through. My favourite pintxo, a delicious martini, oil on the surface, who knew?! Y'all did! Lucasta then very descriptively took us through the menu using words like 'unctuous' which obviously set me off. The conversational and present tone of which is totally at the centre of my perfect restaurant fantasy. We went with her recommendation and got shrimp and beef to share amongst some other bits. To drink, a picante Vs Paloma, so so balanced and lifted me up in the warm evening, and a house Rita which I didn't try but went well with Marta's outfit. Then wine, Sangiovese, bellissimo. Everything slapped. The music was light, a little unpredictable in a friend's at home kind of way, but romantic, also in a friends at home kind of way. The lighting was perfect and illuminated the food really nicely. Rob gave me a tomato liqueur at the end. Unctuous. Thankyou Rob, Lucasta, the bartender, the chefs, Missy, Gabriel, errybody :) Louie E Marta x

While on the pricier side, the food was delicious and of high quality. The atmosphere was romantic - we were seated in the back room where it was slightly quieter and intimate. What we enjoyed most was the brilliant service - I didn't catch our waiter's name but he was very attentive and had great knowledge of the food and wines. I noted on our booking that we were celebrating a birthday and the team kindly brought out a scoop of ice cream with a candle and birthday note, which was a lovely & appreciated touch. I would definitely recommend Rita's for a special occasion meal.

Our dinner experience at Rita’s was quite disappointing. The restaurant itself is charming and well-suited for a date, with its cute interior and prime location in the heart of Soho. However, despite the pleasant ambiance, the food left much to be desired in terms of value for money. While the flavors were nice, the portion sizes were surprisingly small for the price. We ordered three appetizers, two mains, and three sides, yet we left feeling unsatisfied. For example, the fish main course consisted of a single small fillet, and the lamb was mostly bone and fat. The drinks were enjoyable, especially the Negroni, and the wine selection was extensive. The service was also commendable; our food arrived promptly, and our waiter was friendly. We voiced our concerns about the portion sizes throughout the meal and again when we received the bill. After a bit of uncomfortable discussion with the waiter they removed the tuna sashimi from our bill. It’s a shame that the high prices are not justified by the portion sizes. I believe the restaurant should either lower its prices or increase the portions. Overall, I would not return, as it seems to be a hit-or-miss experience depending on the current menu offerings.

Rita's in Soho was a huge disappointment. Our group of five was squeezed onto a four-seater table, making for an uncomfortable dining experience. The food was overly oily, and the cornbread had an odd salt-sweet taste. While the prawns were decent, they were nothing special. The 600 grams of steak was inedible, full of fat, and we had to spit most of it out. The fries and salad were also drenched in oil. To top it off, they forgot our side dishes, which were only comped as a meager gesture. The food took over 50 minutes to arrive. Overall, a disgraceful experience. We won't be returning.

A terrible experience. They put us on a minimum 4 person table where we took turns eating because there wasn’t enough space to move our hands. The appetisers were below average (cornbread was disgusting). The steak was mostly fatty and had nerves inside that were so chewy it was inedible. We were forced to spit out half of the steak otherwise we would choke. The sides came after we finished eating our mains. The sea bass and lamb was okay but all bone tiny portions that should be for appetiser and overpriced for the size. It couldn't have gone worse.

It’s a shame to receive this kind of service where you’re in a nice place like this. For those looking for aperitivo - it doesn’t exist there. You’ll be asked to consume mains even if you’re only sitting at the counter or the bar and only want to eat a few nibbles and starters to share. Also we found extremely rude to be given the bill when we didn’t even ask for it.

I may have been a bit harsh with my first review, so here's my second attempt. the food, starters were pleasant and flavourful. my main (I ordered the lamb) was a tiny piece of a chop, with a side of another tiny slice of lamb meat and few cabbage leaves. My dish was poor, and the portion size was ridiculous for the price (£29). my gf ordered the sea bass which she said was decent, but again portion size was tiny for the price range. I raised my concerns about the lamb dish which they kindly removed from the final bill. the mains took 45mins to be served, we raised this with the waiter who felt the need to "prove" a point by bringing us the order sheet which showed that the mains took 30mins from when the starters were cleared. that's a total of 45mins from when we placed our order. my maths added up. the service was decent, the waiter behind the bar was great, he let me try a few of the wines before deciding. All in all did the food take too long, yes. Did i think the food was average, yes. Do i think it was poor value for money, yes. will I be back, nope.

10/10 Food, Wine and Service! I very rarely review places but this was well worth a visit - tasty and original dishes, a great wine selection and service (Abigail and others) that went above and beyond without being in any way pushy (a “modern American” restaurant without the pushy American service!). My recent visit to this restaurant was marred by a frustrating billing issue and poor customer service. While the food was tasty (though a bit pricey), the trouble began when I discovered I had been charged twice. Despite presenting clear evidence to the waiter, I was asked to return the next day for resolution. Upon my return, the same unhelpful waiter refused a refund again, saying that he had to investigate the issue despite the evidence being clear. Later that night, a call admitted the mistake, but to my disbelief, the waiter asked for my credit card details over the phone as the only way to process the refund. Overall, the service left a bitter taste in my mouth, would not come back.

Overly expensive, the main dishes were so small that it was not even fit for one person and definitely not worth it unless you want to feel like you’ve been scammed. The food was such given in such tiny portions and was pricey for its "quality" and quantity. The waiter was very friendly in the beginning and put on a rude attitude as soon as he realised that we didn't order much dishes, amongst 5 people we ordered 3 starters, 2 mains and a drink each. He did not speak at all from that point on because us ordering less than his "perceived" amount got him upset. The rest of the staff seemed quite nice. The portion of fish we had was not enough for 1 person. The same goes with pasta. If you're gonna dine here, ask for a plate of mussels and a portion of bread and butter, and you'll have a decent meal. Anything other than that, you're wasting money and won't be full or remotely satisfied. I have no idea why this place is recommended. Moving forward, I'd avoid it luke a plague, but if you feel like splurging a lot to have a poor dining experience, then go for it.

In the words of The Streets - Rita's is fit but they know it. In theory it should be brilliant, but there's something about it that leaves me not quite satisfied. The food is great, really great. A bit pricey, but not killer. Everything on the menu tastes great and it's a nice and casual-ish atmosphere, but with an odd edge of performative cool. Like how you imagine having dinner at London Fashion Week might be. Not necessarily helped by the enquiry "still or sparking?" when you arrive. I thought only Mayfair was hanging onto that sort of thing. Rita's food is really good, and if that description of the atmosphere sounds like it's for you, then you're onto a winner. If that sounds a bit stressful, maybe try somewhere else.

Would give 0 if possible. We were here at 6pm, not overly hungry, and the server just kept insisting we ordered more food. Rude, aggressive, and way to chilled service over the night. Many times you could see 3/4 servers gathered in the bar area at the entrance chatting and joking. We asked to remove the service charge at the end and whom I assume being the manager came to the table to argue and insist it was our problem for ordering too little, and that they, as a small business, cannot afford this.. Never apologised for their subpar service and kept insisting it was our own issue. Do not recommend at all, and based on their previous replies to the negative comments here, I can only deduce they do not take criticism well. Food was ok, nothing to complain about nor good enough to come back. There are many other small businesses around the area which I would recommend over Rita’s.

Forever in our London top 5, Rita’s was a great experience. We had a late reservation and chose to sit outside. The staff was exceptional, helpful and informed: even though we were far away from the rest of the customers, the waitress kept checking on us and we never felt unattended. Each dish was properly explained, our questions answered (yes, we sometimes have questions) and she was very pleasant. The food is a party of flavours, every dish came with a surprise. The pasta and sausage ball starter were tasty and the pork chop had potential but one of our two orders was pretty dry. The devilled egg which is always a crowd pleaser was far too tangy and oily and the skewers were flavourless. The service was a mix of nice people and us continuously needing to ask for drinks or a drinks menu which is strange for a Saturday night - they certainly could have made more money off us. Rita's in Soho: A Cozy Culinary Gem with Al Fresco Charm I recently had the pleasure of dining at Rita's in Soho, London, and it was an absolute delight. The restaurant is nestled in one of the most charming streets in Soho, setting the stage for a wonderful experience. As soon as you approach, you can sense the inviting vibes, and upon entering, you're met with just the right lighting and design that creates a cozy and warm ambiance. Rita's may be on the smaller side, but it exudes a super welcoming atmosphere. The service is exceptional, with the staff wearing smiles and greeting you with utmost courtesy. However, the highlight of the experience has to be the food. Rita's specializes in Modern American cuisine, and it's undoubtedly become one of my favorite places to dine in London. What's truly impressive is that each time I've visited, the menu has had exciting variations, all expertly crafted with amazing combinations of fresh ingredients. You can clearly taste the chef's expertise in every bite, resulting in incredible flavors and taste. The restaurant's commitment to working with local farmers ensures a farm-to-table experience that further enhances the dining adventure. Even the desserts at Rita's are a memorable experience, far from being an afterthought. The small plates designed for sharing make it an ideal spot for a romantic date night, perfectly complementing the enchanting ambience. While the wine selection by the glass might be somewhat limited, there are lovely options available by the bottle. To top it all off, Rita's offers a patio and small tables out front that are perfect for enjoying a beautiful London night al fresco. This charming restaurant in the heart of Soho truly combines all the elements for a memorable dining experience. Rita's is a hidden gem that I highly recommend for those seeking excellent food, a warm atmosphere, and a touch of outdoor magic.

Incredible little spot. The food was beyond amazing and the waiter we had was above and beyond, she gave us the best recommendations that made for an amazing meal. You HAVE TO have the Gilda and the reviled eggs, plus the crab was also gorgeous. For dessert we had sorbet with tequila shots that we drank slowly (upon request of the waiter) !!!! 10/10

Delicious food and service was on point. Mark (or Marv, was hard to hear!) our waiter was extremely attentive refilling water before we could finish and provided details on dishes. We were those annoying types who ask what every dish is like, how it’s cooked or served with. Ha! We ordered the crab, pork, and chicken - all very tasty and cooked to perfection but I’ve given the food 4* only because of the portion sizes…

Incredible. In a city full of generic menus (burrata’s and ceviches and tartare’s) Rita’s truly offered unique and delicious dishes.

The service is really poor and the waitress was very rude and disrespectful, we were all shocked by her behaviour. The atmosphere is nothing special and the food is above average.

Lovely place with a great ambiance. Food was good although a little pricy for what it is. Definitely worth a visit though!

Lovely staff, but the food is expensive for what you get. All of us left hungry-ish after 3 corses. For about £100 per head (with wine) it’s not the best.

10/10 met all expectations as we had heard so many good things about Rita’s. Cute date night spot or perfect for a group of 4 at dinner. The steak was unbelievable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. So so good !

The beef tartare portion was generous but lacked in the taste as it fell flat. The pork chop was delicious but overall felt that the food was overpriced.

Not bad but really not great with a slightly puritanical vibe, mean portions and a couple of misfires - a mediocre fish course, soggy chips and a tatty loo. Liked the chicken, pork and beans, and rice but overpriced for what's on offer.

What a great restaurant! Creative food for the sake of flavour, which is very refreshing! Loved the chicken liver parfait toast with loquat special and the moreish ‘tiny’ martinis. Will be back for sure

Basic looking restaurant with far from basic food and staff. We were 5 so we shared plates. All were cooked perfectly but the fish was exceptionally perfectly cooked, flaking but moist and perfectly seasoned. Highly recommended.

The "Caesar Salad (+ fried chicken)" (£10 + £6) may not be the best Caesar salad in London (I prefer the one at Morty & Bob’s, King’s Cross), but the fried chicken is a showstopper - crisp, juicy, and perfectly fried. Try their "Fried chicken roll" (£14) or enjoy it with a salad, although the Caesar could be improved. Their "E5 Sourdough and Butter" (£4) is a tangy delight from a Hackney bakery, and the "Roast Pumpkins and Stracciatella" (£11) offers a perfect balance of sweet and savory. The "Eggplant Parmigiana" (£18) is oozing with cheese and rich tomato sauce but be warned that the flavors can become overwhelming towards the end. Full review @jagglet on Instagram.

It identifies as New American, more like Old French😅 the portion sizes are tiny but the flavour and presentation were good👍🏻 liked the atmosphere and service too. It’s a little on the pricey side and didn’t appreciate 15% service charge😒 for us it was easy to get a table but I’d imagine on weekends and during busy hours you’d be waiting for a while⏳

I’d wanted to go to Rita’s for ages and it did not disappoint. I went for lunch and had the caesar salad with fried chicken, the palomito (grapefruit soda) and blood orange juice, and it was all divine. My partner was recommended the espresso with peanut milk, which was incredible. Service was impressively fast and the waiters were very attentive and thoughtful, giving advice on their recommendations. The vibe was also lovely and cosy and romantic, great for a rainy afternoon in Soho. I have to shout out to our lovely waiter Brent, who was very accommodating and kind when we called and said we were going to be late.

OMG pricey, boring and lousy food. I really do not understand how can people like it. Most of other restaurants in Soho are better! Such a disappointment.

Love it, exactly the kind of restaurant that London needs more of. Trendy but tastefully done. Great options and great tasting food. I loved the jalapeño poppers!

Young, hip and fun. Rita’s is a slice of Hackney’s flair in the heart of Soho. The staff, ambiance, playlist and wine list give Gen Y/Z in a sporty way. My personal view is that the food (on my visit) was slightly lacklustre in comparison - general lack of zest and vibrancy, but maybe that’s more to do with what the modern American kitchen has to offer….much like it’s foreign policy - isolationist and unapologetic? We went for: Olives Gilda- 5/10. Nothing to write home about Wings - 5/10. Way too much Cajun seasoning for my liking. Serving with the same Aioli as the fries would be a winner Stracciatella with Pumpkin - 7/10. Lovely texture and perfect crisp. A jovial evolution would be to add some zest/acid to liven it up a bit Beef Tartare - 7/10. Good consistency and texture that holds itself well. Herbal garnish is also fresh, but again, zest and vibrancy is rather dull and could be perked up a bit Braised Lamb - 8/10. Very tender and a nice texture with the beans. Crazy Crazy Pet Nat- 8/10. Fun, very drinkable, notwithstanding the 3x markup. All in all, a welcomed addition to the Soho circuit. Look forward to a menu rotation packing more punch to live up to the rest of the experience.

UNDERWHELMING. Disappointing experience, not worth the hype and lacks hospitality. Waitress kept reminding us we only had the table for an hour and by the time we left, the restaurant was still relatively empty.

I don’t have the slightest idea why this place is popular. Below average decor (if any) and mediocre dishes. We were in and out in 30mins after a reservation that we did two weeks prior. Thank you but London has way better stuff on offer.

Great unique dishes. Amazing taste and atmosphere. Service was fantastic. Only minor point: if you order a starter or side it's nice to share with someone else, or even if a single item, enough for someone else to have a small bite, ordered the jalapeno poppers and although delicious it was a thin slice of jalepeno an anchovy and olive on one stick. For the price and size I'd expect at least two or enough for perhaps two people to enjoy a small bite.

Rita’s had a great atmosphere with amazing service from the staff. Although all dishes were great, I felt like the steak hash and the Caesar salad were too heavily seasoned with my dining partner and I finding it too salty at times. However, dishes like the onion squash soup and the panela cake definitely made up for it which fused atypical ingredients together to create new flavour profiles for me. I have head many great things about Rita’s so I believe the salty dishes might have been a one off for me. I would still come back to dine in again.
