First time here celebrating our mother's birthday. Food was fabulous, service was excellent and the decor was wonderful. The prices are extremely competitive and great value for money. A daily set menu was available, 2 course for £15 or 3 course for £21. You can pay £3 to upgrade to the salmon dish which I would highly recommend. £5 to upgrade to the steak which I will do next time. All round an exceptional dining experience. Regards Richard

Antico is a really good Italian restaurant. We chose pizza and a rocket salad with shaved parmisan. The pizza was great, with good toppings and a traditional well cooked base. The staff were welcoming and the service was quick. It was good value. They also offered a two course special if you ate before 6.30.

Dont be disheartened with the outside appearence and staircase to get to the actual resteraunt area once upstairs. This place is a little gem, with a beautifully decorated resteraunt. The prices are very reasonable and the staff very attentative. Our group ordered a mixture of starters, Italian and roast dinners, with puddings to finish off; we couldn't fault any of it. We will definitely be going back.

Stopped here to use the rapid car charger outside so popped in for tea and a snack. Hadn’t booked. They couldn’t have been more friendly.

Went for a birthday on a Sunday. The service was excellent, friendly, and accommodating (they even sang happy birthday, as it was my Dad's 75th). Their Sunday lunches were great. I had salmon, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and got to taste both beef and lamb. Both were so nicely cooked, tender, fall apart in the mouth. The calamari starter was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend it for Sunday lunches, as it's the best I've had in the area. We will definitely be visiting again.

Lovely food reasonably priced friendly staff and service

Ordered a first course of tomato and asparagus on some kind of bread. Lots of bland tomatoes but I had to hunt for asparagus and only spotted half a dozen pieces of stalk which, if joined together, might have produced 2 to 3 cm. Shocker. Will not be returning.

Staff are amazing and foods the best you’ll find

We were recommended Antico from a work colleague. Couldn't thank them enough this morning. Everything we had was fresh, beautiful prepared, the perfect temperature. We will definitely be going back.

The stairs should be mentioned on website as they are steep for older people or disabled, It was a bit cold when we got there but we got there at four oclock so it had just opened, Despite that the food was beautiful and the service and room is beautiful and worth a visit .

Absolutely the best Sunday lunch I have had since being in the area. Would recommend this place to visit lovely food attentive staff warm and welcoming book a table you won't be disappointed.

Table of 14 all were happy with their experience tonight. First visit and must say very well decorated and has a lovely feeling. Nice welcome and service throughout was excellent. I had 3 courses calamari which was a bit disappointing and a bit chewy. Salmon in saffron sauce with mussels with veg. Lovely well cooked large piece of salmon but I would have the skin facing up to keep it crisp. The veg was perfectly cooked. Then tiramisu with was large and fine but needed a little more kick of coffee. Will definitely call again.

We love Antico's in Durham...visited many times, including my husband's 60th birthday and for Christmas Day 2023. Excellent food and brilliant service from staff, very reasonable prices.

Good food and very friendly environment

Food cooked from scratch, fresh. I can believe this as it took nearly an hour for our food in an empty restaurant. The manager is serving and doing his best, it lacked that buzz a restaurant has. The food tasted good and there was plenty, a good choice of drinks and food on the menu, but nothing to show chefs special options. I hope this picks up as it's a nice Hotel, bar and restaurant.

Love this place. Friendly staff, excellent service, great pizza. Went in there with our young kids and everyone was extremely welcoming. Highly recommend.

Good food and atmosphere, prices have become more reasonable than my previous visit (after the rebranding of the restaurant). Food was good but could use a little more flavours - seafood options were excellent. We had a few spritz drinks which were very good.

I went to durham for the first time for my wife's birthday and I wanted to take her for dinner for a special place. I selected antico after going through some reviews. I think I made the right choice. The staff was amazingly friendly and well trained. No words to express how delicious the food is. This is a highly recommended restaurant for anyone who is interested in Italian food which has a good mix and variety of choices. Definitely a place to visit next time when in durham. Fillet steak was overcooked when asked for medium. I was polite enough to eat as in company group However when mentioned on paying bill i found the front of house male was quite rude and he openly said that because i had eaten it he would do nothing also did not touch the chips rather soggy. Shame as starters where beautiful

Antico went off some time ago and I stopped going . As a result I decided after a break to try it one more time . I am so pleased that I did . Change of ownership has transformed this little gem back to its full glory . It’s buzzing again and with superb food . Best prawns and mussels in Durham cooked to perfection . The new owner and staff could not be more helpful. Fabulous !!!

This is still a good place to eat, but not as good as it was a year ago. Staff now changes too frequently

This was our first visit to Antico for our anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised. Could not fault the food it was very tasty and filling. The staff were lovely - we even got free desserts due to a tiny incident when a bottle of wine was needed from behind our table so we had to stand up for a moment while they got it - I didn't bother us in the slightest and free dessert was a lovely gesture. The prices are very reasonable. Its quite warm in here so dress lightly. The atmosphere was lovely and we will definitely be back.

Probably the best Sunday lunch I've had in a long time... cooked to perfection... service amazing and wow... cheesecake to die for. Seriously you guys are great. Our experience at antico Durham was fantastic service , food and ambience was amazing . As Arnold schwazzeneger would say I will be back.

Went for the early bird tea. The aperol had no flavour and tasted of water even my husbands shandy didn't taste good. Starter of potatoe skins were nice. For mains we got pizzas and they were very poor. Base wasn't crisy and not alot of flavour. Staff were lovely but won't be going back

Food was as expected and service was brilliant would definitely go again.

Went for a family meal for six tonight, all starters and mains were great and served well, the staff were great. The main I had, lobster ravioli was absolutely perfect to be honest and the whole table commented how nice the food was. It’s a little gem 5 minutes from the city centre, would definitely recommend

Was treated to a surprise 30th birthday here with a party of 32 people turning up. Staff were very welcoming, food came out quickly and was lovely! I’ve only recently moved to Durham but will be making this my new regular Italian restaurant going forward

Lovely evening. Early one, New Year's Eve.

The location is very close to DC, so it’s very convenient to come and eat there. It's a good Italian restaurant Restaurant waiters are very good Ordered creamy mushroom chicken, a pasta and an Italian dessert with raspberries. The chicken is a piece of chicken breast. The chicken doesn't feel very fresh and is poorly cooked, but the creamy mushroom sauce is good. The pasta is a little salty but overall tastes good The best dessert of the day but I forgot to take a photo

Just visited Antico for the first time and it was an excellent experience! Nice decor, the staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive without being intrusive. The food was excellent. Really tasty and there was plenty of it. The prices were very reasonable too. We were a table of 10, there to celebrate my 60th birthday. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who conducted the communal singing of "Happy Birthday" to me and brought the cake, my wife had arranged, to the table. We'll definitely be back in the near future. Update:- Just had our second visit. Shouldn't have taken so long to return really. All I can say is it was every bit as good as the last time. Food excellent (try the spicy scotch egg starter it was awesome!!) Staff were great, same level of attentiveness without being intrusive. We definitely won't wait as long for another visit.

Beautiful Sunday lunch here today which was great value. We eat here whenever we can. The food is always gorgeous and the service cannot be faulted. A lovely friendly place..highly recommended!

A pretty fancy Italian restaurant in Neville's Cross, the penne all'Arrabbiatta was great, if a little under salted, and the brownie was tasty too. A good experience overall - worth checking out!

Not the best salmon dish I've had in terms of flavour/quality, but definitely excellent presentation and service. Dessert was amazing all round though, thanks for having us.

We visited 3 weeks ago for the first time. The staff were accommodating and friendly, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The starters were delicious, especially the one with the prawns and chorizo! As a main we got the seafood platter which was £32, but it was way overpriced for what it was; the portion was for one person only, and it was way overcooked! P.S. We had been advised by the waiter in advance that the seafood platter was ideal for one person, and we were ok to share as we were having a starter each anyway. Based on how good the starters were I believe this restaurant has great potential and would recommend, but would recommend avoiding the seafood platter.

Absolutely fab. Food was the best I had for a long time, service unobtrusive yet there when needed. Really a treat will definitely be going back. And very reasonably priced, especially early bird menu! Still great but early bird menu more limited

I took my son and his partner for a teatime meal while up visiting. What a great find. We had the early bird special menu. The choices on the menu were great, portions were really generous and the food was simply excellent, so tasty. To top it all the service was spot on. This family run restaurant is a must visit if you are in the area, I know you wont be disappointed. (no I am not related 🙂)

It doesn’t look much from the outside but once up the stairs and inside it is a lovely place. The staff are very well presented and proficient. It’s clear they know how to give their customers a spot-on dining experience. Our visit was a Saturday night, and they were busy. Its definitely top quality Italian food. I booked online, and then rang them a few days before to make sure they had my booking. As it turned out I needn't have bothered as their system sent me an email asking to confirm my booking just before anyway. Can recommend.

The worst tiramisu I have ever had - had to send it back. It was profusely dusted with cinnamon!

The menue was incomplete making the excuse that they where closed the following. They didnt have a great selection of drinks. The staff seemed quite unconcerned. I shall not return.

Very disappointing. Lots of food not available, drinks not available, excuse was closing for 2 weeks for refurbishment. Not advised of this when we booked. Even food we did have was not a good standard. Unlikely we'll go back

The staff were welcoming and helpful, the.menu was varied and the food well presented. Amongst the best Italian restaurants I have visited.

Bit disappointed with the menu no lasagne left and it was only 8pm. Not the best atmosphere unless your a regular.

Hubby and I have eaten here previously and always very impressed with both food and staff, tonight we had the fillet steaks both medium rare with the prawns in garlic butter absolutely cooked to perfection, I cannot recommend this place enough food fab and the staff are lovely, welcoming and attentive but not in your face, after a very disappointing boxing day steak in The Rib Room at Ramside this will be our go to steak place nowxx

Good but not exceptional either

Came here for a meal while visiting family in Durham. Had a wonderful meal. The scotch egg to start was beautiful and the gnocchi for my main was perfection. Service was great. Atmosphere spot on. Can’t wait to come back. If I was local I’d absolutely be working my way through the menu, trying everything. Highly recommend.
