PICCO d'italia in County Durham

The food is fresh and the customer service is perfect. If you wanna experience real Italian taste this is the right place for it.

Not sure if there are bew owners, but the food was cold and bland, informed the young passengers working, who, didn't speak much English. Not a great experience would stay clear

I’ll start with the positives in that it’s quite a charming pleasant restaurant and the staff were all very polite. However, the food is another thing and really not great in my opinion. I’m actually surprised by all the reviews raving about the food as our experience was a complete contrast. The pizza’s were some of the worst I’ve experienced, presentation wise looked great but these are reheated pizzas. The bases were so tough and dense, really had to use a lot of force on the pizza cutter. We ordered fries, which were dry and soggy, almost like they’d come from somewhere else or been reheated. Maybe we had an off night, but I suspect this is the standard of food. We were hugely disappointed and would not return.

The best Italian food In Durham. Even better than Bistro Italiano on claypath. Value for money it can’t be beaten. Quality and freshness of food also can’t be beaten. The staff are so polite too. Found this place upon wandering around Durham looking for an Italian and so pleased we did. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Such a sweet little place. Got the gnocchi to take out and it was really tasty, the perfect texture and a great portion! Staff were lovely too, very accommodating. Seemed like a great atmosphere inside, will definitely be back to dine in :)

Food was absolutely superb, all fresh and great quality. Great value for money on the lunch menu. Especially the tiramisu dessert which was unbelievable! Would return.

Hidden gem. Incredibly friendly staff. The food was delicious. Portion sizes were good and I would regard the prices to be excellent value considering the above. (Didn't cost much at all). Thank you for a lovely meal. If we're ever back in Durham I am certain we will return. Really pleased we visited Picco today.

Authentic Italian food in an Authentic Italian atmosphere. 3 courses for under £15. Can't fault it. And fabulous wine. Food was fresh and delicious. We will be back.

Don’t know if we just caught them on an off day but we did not have a good experience here, we initially came in as a walk in, place was half empty but waited ten minutes for staff to come and actually seat us, then after getting seated the wait between getting served to getting food was just ridiculous as well, when the food finally did come it was so bland and flavourless, was really disappointing. On top of all this and me saying that the food was not nice at all, upon asking for the bill they then added a service charge on top of it, 10% it was. Now we normally tip that’s no issue but it just felt so rude for them to add this on without customers consent, especially after the customer making a complaint, we didn’t even bother mentioning the wait time either, didn’t bother tipping after being frustrated by this. Now I know this isn’t the restaurant’s fault but just so people are aware, the place had two other tables full, which we were unfortunately sat right next to, both full of obnoxious uni students who were just ridiculously loud and just had no courtesy for other people in there.

First time going here. From walking in the staff were very friendly and polite. Didn't wait long for food to arrive. Food was really nice and would definitely go again. Loved the atmosphere.

Amazing service, very good prices and great food!

The location is great and the view is amazing. We tried the gnocchi, carbonara, capriciossa pizza and prawns. The first three tasted average but the prawns was excellent! Have had better gnocchi and pizza and wouldn’t recommend these but the other two were great! Service was excellent and great vibe overall!

Great little italian, excellent food and great views of Durham. Pizza is prefect and the canolo are not to be missed.

We had a thoroughly excellent lunch here - the food, service and prices were all absolutely spot on. In particular we all really enjoyed the Focaccina All’Aglio - that was superb. Would highly recommend Picco to anyone visiting Durham and will certainly be back next time I’m in the area. Thanks for a lovely lunch 🙂

We arrived in quite late and the staff were happy to serve us even though we were the only table. Excellent food and lovely inexpensive cocktails. Would definitely recommend!

Came here with some friends and had such a lovely evening. Really kind staff, brilliant service and amazing food. Would 100% recommend!

It is such a wonderful place! I have been here on Saturday evening with my friend - it was fairly busy as it was early evening. The charming decor, kind staff and amazing food - I had tartufata pizza which was phenomenal and tasted so delicious and my friend ordered meatball pasta which was so delicious as well. Staff members, who were kind and were there to ask and help with any questions. Highly recommended

New pizzeria in Durham. Excellent food, generous portions and good prize but best of all, very kind, polite and attentive staff. Nice decor and excellent Italian music playing in the background as well! Our child enjoyed a lot his pasta and ice cream, and they also brought some colours for him to paint. We will go back again for sure!

New restaurant so offering deals. Gave it a try when wandering past and glad we did. Attentive staff, lovely food, prompt service and value for money. Stairs up to restaurant a bit scruffy but don't let that put you off. Definitely worth a visit. Vegan options too. We'll definitely be back.
