We recently enjoyed a most excellent dinner at Cape to Cairo in Bishop Auckland and think this little gem of a restaurant tucked down a side road in the centre of town deserves the highest praise. We received very personal and attentive service from the owner who couldn't have done more to ensure our experience was a truly memorable one. The menu is full of very interesting dishes and prices are extremely reasonable - it was hard to know what to choose - and we were more than delighted with the Durban curry, Cape Burger and Chicken four ways. We also thoroughly enjoyed an impromtu bonus performance by a Zimbabwean A cappella group - truly amazing! We will certainly remember our visit to Cape to Cairo very fondly. Thank you very much!

Visited yesterday evening for dinner and a catch up with a friend and I wasn’t disappointed! The menu is fab and caters for every taste. We went for the sharing platter which gave the opportunity to try out several dishes at a time and it was very tasty and filling. The service was very professional and with a smile! We didn’t leave a thing on our plates and I will be back with my family and other friends soon!

Small breakfast with a mug of tea £3.50. Cafe was busy but food was served in good time. Enjoyable visit!

This cafe is a popular haunt with locals and can be found up a side street just around the corner from Wilkinsons, serves a variety of traditional British grub, the coffee was very hot but tasted more like milk than coffee (latte) cheese on toast was acceptable as quite bland not somewhere I'd opt to visit in the future oh & check what you're charged against the price list!

Ate early evening so not as busy as expected to be later, food was superb and service was helpful and lovely. A great little Indian restaurant with a warm welcome and a quick walk to the wonderful view of Durham Cathedral.

Had a nice drive up from Leeds. I was absolutely starving and in desperate need to find somewhere good to eat in Chester Le Street. I had a mocha which was beautiful and I double cheeseburger meal with onion rings. I was happy and so was my stomach. Will definitely visit again! 😁
