We met with some of our family for brunch, 10.30 Sunday. Just managed to get a car parking space. There was a queue to get in but it soon disappeared. Our food was delivered quickly by cheerful staff. Our granddaughter enjoyed looking at the goats. She’s a little too young to feed them. We will go back. Maybe aim for a slightly quieter time. The cafe was less busy by 11.30.

I’ve been several times to Rickyards and have also recommended to friends in the past. However, today was very poor. My friend and I arrived and found a table outside, ordered 2 coffees and then waited half an hour for these to arrive. They were lukewarm when the waitress eventually brought them out so not enjoyable at all. The waitress was lovely and apologised for the wait but why only have ONE person making the hot drinks when you know it’s always busy at the weekends? My friend and I have said we will never visit at the weekend again. I know we weren’t the only ones to complain either. Two men next to us had to go and ask where their hot drinks were and a couple the other side were served their breakfast which then went cold while they waited for their tea and coffee too. Not good enough for such a popular place.

Visit regularly & always find food, service, drinks & menu top notch. This cafe offers very good value for money & it’s always busy because of that. It’s clean, friendly & well staffed, so when it’s busy the food is still served in a timely manner. Lastly I’m delighted I can take my dog there too !

Visited here this morning with my son, daughter-in-law and two Granddaughters, so a mix of ages, it’s very busy but the wait was virtually nil, we ordered breakfast items, it’s very clean and the food was hot, the coffees were delicious. We fed the goats outside, there’s extra seating all around outside, some over look the pond, it’s a fabulous view from here. The toilets were spotlessly clean. The staff are very polite and it felt like whatever you asked they would find a way to accommodate you.

I visited the Rickyard cafe for the first time today I was quite shocked when I first walked in, but my children loved it, we sat down for lunch and was greeted with smiles from a brunette girl and a blonde boy, my children were particularly interested in the orange halloween jumpers. It was amazing atmosphere and I was seated straight away, we sat down and went up to order our food, our food came very swiftly followed by our drinks, everything was amazing quality and the staff were very polite, after this I took the youngest of my children outside, who insisted to have a photo, a very polite blonde man with a short ‘mullet’ like hairstyle, the one who greeted me on entry, offered to take mine and my child’s photo, he was very cheerful , and my child seemed to make good friends with him. Overall I would definitely be visiting again, as everything was top notch and way above standard, Its nice to see such a nice cafe in such a nice area. I would recommend especially if you have children who are interested in animals, although my child was scared of the goats a first he eventually came to the realization that they were very affectionate and enjoyed to be fed, even my oldest son enjoyed it. I don’t usually write reviews but I think this deserves a good one, would definitely recommend.

I was here at brunch time today and a young chap, I didn’t quite catch his name but I think it was digbee, he served me my brunch. And he was quite rude at first as he just slammed my drinks on the table and walked off, didn’t say a word or didn’t smile. I let that go and decided to carry on with my day; but then when he came to collect my drinks and proceeded to swear under his breath and say “this fat b****” . I found this extremely enraging and unkind. As a result of this young disrespectful chap, I won’t be approaching this cafe any time again! Disgraceful!

Really nice place, but was a little noisy. The breakfast food was fantastic, I ordered the vegetarian option and opted for a poached egg, unfortunately the eggs tasted very strongly of vinegar, otherwise a nice meal. As someone previously commented, it did feel like the staff were watching ready to clear the table as you finish your last mouthful. Gripes aside, the location is great, the goats were a real treat and overall the food was good, a little expensive, but good.

I had already been twice in a week, so decided to take my son and grandaughter for breakfast. Although it was very tasty, it was quite expensive. However, on every single visit, the staff were hovering to take our plates. I only put my knife down, and they were asking to take plates away. This made me feel like they wanted us to leave seats as soon as we had eaten our last mouthful. The staff were quite young and really lacking smiles, something that costs nothing, but adds to a pleasant experience. Won't stop me coming as setting is beautiful.

I've visited Rickyards a few times now and i've never been blown away by the food but it's in a good location and the little ones love to see the goats. Anyways, today I visited with my two young children (ages 1 and 3) and my dad for lunch. I got them settled down at the table outside and went in to find the menus. I couldn't find any "little ones" menus so I asked a member of staff and she abruptly said in the "little ones" box but in a way that was belittling, I had already checked in there and that's why I was asking her. She obviously didn't want to help further. There was then a big queue so I waited to be served. As I got to the front of the queue to make my order, I had completely forgotten to check the table number. I explained where we were sat but the staff member said she couldn't take my order and I'd have to leave the queue to go and check it and rejoin. At this point an even bigger queue had formed behind me! So I would have had to have joined the back of the big queue after already waiting 10 mins. I can't understand why they couldn't take my order & then I could pop back with my table number so they could carry on serving or I'm sure the staff are familiar with where the tables are. Instead they were expecting me to queue twice. The staff member who I'd earlier asked the menus about again rudely commented to me that they were too busy and I had no option to leave the queue. I decided to leave. I really won't be returning as the food really isn't great anyways and combined with bad service, I'd much rather go elsewhere.

Female staff on till didn't ask who's next, just served someone who wasn't, but most importantly didn't apologise for error when this was pointed out to her.

What a delicious meal we had yesterday evening! Steak and kidney pie for him, fish pie for her, both served with hot seasonal vegetables. Delighted to see traditional pub grub back on the menu, and in generous value-for-money portions.
