Loved this place before. New ownership. It's horrendous. Blokes don't know anything about Turkish cuisine. Will not go back again

This place was brilliant and I reviewed it as we had been going for years. Change of ownership and the place is awful. Meat is rubbery and totally tasteless. Everything is badly spiced and sauces taste burnt and harsh. Could not be more of a contrast and disappointing. Such a shame!

Often get takeaway and menu is good across the board. Friendly service and good food, especially the yoghurt dishes

I first dined in Soul Flame in 2016 and was delighted to return last month and find it just as brilliant as ever. The food is absolutely delicious. It’s freshly and expertly cooked. I’ll not be leaving it another 6 years before returning!

Unbelievable wraps… Juicy and tender meat - all cooked right in front of you to order. Don’t even hesitate trying this place!

Cant praise this place more - I travel from Richmond to get my takeaway. Great quality ingredients and very good value ! We all love a good kebab and I have had a few in my time but this place is an absolutely authentic Turkish charcoal grill. Special mention for the skewers of lamb chops and ribs even ! Also Chicken wings & Kofte & Shish. Mixed salads come with pomegranate dressing & Garlic sauce or chilli & tomato sauce and are generous. The flat breads and pittas are also very fresh & smokily grilled. Bulgar wheat Kisir / grilled Halloumi cheese and Imam Bayaldi are incredibly tasty ! Staff are very fast & efficient and very friendly. Just wish they were in Richmond !

I ordered takeaway from this establishment last night and the amount of food I received was utterly pitiful . Obviously this restaurant doesn't believe in courting repeat business as if there was ever an experience to guarantee you never want to spend money there again this was it . I enclose a pic of the chicken swish for 12.50 which is advertised as including " charcoal vegetables " as you can see I received the tiniest slice of onion and that was it vegetable wise.A very disrespectful , greedy way to treat your customers. Very disappointing.

One of the best restaurants in Putney. Friendly, knowledgable staff that serve very tasty, very big meals, you'll leave full and satisfied. I had a Lamb Shish with rice, veg and salad, with garlic dressing and it was all Gluten Free 👌🏻 Delivery available too!

Always pop in for a take away but ate in on Saturday early evening. The best lamb chops I've ever tasted - amazing!! Small restaurant area but very friendly staff. Would recommend a visit

The food was good but I believe both the shared hot meze and the shared platter are quite expensive since I have seen larger portions for that price in other Turkish restaurants . When I asked some more yogurt they brought a dish for which they charged £ 4.50 (cacik) and they didn't have any sweets or spice sauce.. I would say it deserves 3.5 stars but it is not a cheap eats since eventually we spent £30 each in a not so glamorous location. Their red wine called Yakut was indeed really good.

We were in Putney for a gig at the Half Moon and happened across this lovely little gem whilst looking for something different for dinner. I had the moussaka with salad and my friend had the lamb shish with salad. My moussaka was delicious plenty of well seasoned lamb mince topped with an almost souffle like bechamel topping. My friend's lamb was melt in the mouth and both salads complimented the meat dishes perfectly. We had no room for dessert but were presented with a mini baklava each wurh the bill. If you like Turkish food you will not be disappointed. It's just a shame that I don't live closer as I would certainly revisit.

Small hidden gem serving up some of the tastiest, and best priced, authentic Turkish cuisine. Very clean and excellent service. Highly recommended. Well done guys!

My husband and I walked by this place, looked in the window and decided to come back the next evening. We were not disappointed! The food was as good as it smelled and nice portions!

We've been here lots of times, and I would go again. I've had amazing food and less than amazing, I recommend the full menu is well worth it. The staff are nice. I wish they still had Pamukkale wine!

Stopped coming last year, when all staff changed, the lentil soup tasted like dishwaterand the meat was tough. Tried again this year, to find everything was again excellent.

It your normal rubbish kebab here - awesomeness on a plate. Get the mixed kebab platter - enough for even the most gluttonous of people (see attached).

Ate there this evening. The food is Turkish soul food and made with fresh ingredients. I ate Incik (slow cooked lamb shank on a bed and sauce of braised celery, carrot, onions and fresh herbs and spices) with two chunks of potato. It came with a choice of Bulghar (like couscous, but flavoured with herbs also) or rice. I was also offered bread F.O.C. The meal was was authentic and delicious. I know the latter because I tasted it,I know the former because the charming new waitress Kubra had only been in the UK for 10 days (a native Turk) and vouched for the authenticity of the food. "Just like home". She was charming, welcoming, polite and easy to chat to, which when you are a sole diner is a nice touch. My meal with a glass of house wine (very good) came to £17.15. No service charge was imposed but I tipped anyway. I would certainly eat here again.

Lovely food but when you order takeaway the packaging in comes in is so unnecessarily wasteful, doubling up containers and including plastic silverware even though we didn't ask for it or need it. Hope they change their packaging options soon so I can order from them again.

I took my 3 sons there last night prior to going to Craven Cottage. Two of them had taken the rive bus from the city and wanted to eat in a grand pub set just back from the river but sanity prevailed and we sought out this gem.

This is not a high end restaurant and is actually more fast-food (great) Turkish food. Staff are not very relaxed and from about 9.30pm make it very clear that they want you to leave. Not a great selection of beer. Vegetarian Platter is great value.

Have eaten here several times and never had a bad meal. The hummus and chicken shish are particularly good. All the kebabs are cooked over a charcoal grill which imparts a lovely flavour. Great lunch menu deal too.

I went there for dinner a few times now and I was always very satisfied.

Really good food & very friendly chef who puts in everything to make the food so that it tastes like home cooking.

I went there with some friends for a sit down meal on a Sunday night around 7pm and it was busy. I am not surprised either given how fantastic the food really was. I had hommous to start with flat breads and then chicken shish and chicken wings with rice and salad. I have to say it was excellent! Very healthy very tasty and moderately reasonable in terms of price. I am a big fan of Turkish and Lebanese food and it's great to see such an authentic restaurant in putney. Its also cooked with traditional wood and charcoal so the taste of the food and the smell is great. Soul flame is a welcome addition as we are now struggling for good restaurants in putney. Only one slight reservation is that it is cash only! In this day and age the transaction costs are minimal so I'm a little surprised about that. On the whole a great place to eat and I will definitely be back

We came here for a quick dinner before a night out and really enjoyed it. The menu is comprehensive but we only had mains. The huge lamb doner with yogurt was delicious and very meaty. The stuffed aubergine was very flavoursome and tasty. The dishes were served with traditional rice and salad. Service was good. Prices were fine for London but it's annoying that they only take cash! We will return to have another dinner and try some of the mezze dishes.

Since opening I eat here often due to the quality of food and relative value - it's quite cheap and the food is of a high standard. At the price point the food is astounding - definitely great value for money! The staff are very friendly and informative (check the pictures decorating the walls). Very happy about our visit. Yes, might not be the most romantic place, but food wise it is great - felt genuine, good value and large portions. Staff was also friendly. So happy about the visit and will return.

I ordered a take away Adana kebab from here the other day, portion was generous and it was very good. When I went to collect my kebab there were 4 uniformed police officers collecting take-aways and they said that they ate from there regularly which I think is probably a good recommendation!

Last year a friend mentioned the lamb chops here so we finally got round to trying them and are now going back weekly. 4 chargrilled lamb chops, some rice or chips and a little salad at £14 seemed steep but turned out to be good value considering the quality of the meat. There are also the usual hot and cold mezze and good lamb moussaka and veg moussaka as well as the usual other lamb, chicken and fish dishes at this small Turkish cafe and takeaway that has much better food than its predecessors on this site. Most mains are £10.50 or £11.50 and the final bill always seems reasonable but we don't usually order alcoholic drinks except sometimes beer. Lunchtime offers a starter, main and soft drink at £7.50. The main course with this set meal is somewhat smaller than the a la carte versions but this is great value. The only disappointment was that one lunchtime there were no hot drinks available as their machine was not working or something (English here is generally poor and service both untrained and inexperienced, so we had to guess). That was the only time we asked for tea or coffee as we generally have ayran: a diluted, salty yoghurt drink which comes in a small carton.Bring cash!

My wife and I visit restaurants regularly. This place opened on Putney High Street so gave it a try! Absolutely loved it! So much so that we go back at least a few times a month, we even bring family here when they come to visit!A little on the small side but maybe that adds to this restaurants character but by the food you'll be blown away! Tried the majority of the menu now and have never failed to get something that doesn't taste great! Definitely recommend a visit, if you have a few friends try the platter it's out of this world!!

Have eaten here a number of times now and never disappointed. We tried the calves liver which was excellent and the homous with lamb which came with a salad and extremely soft bread. We then had the lamb spare ribs and the cubed lamb with yogurt. The meat is always so succulent-juicy and tender-very tricky as it is all charcoal grilled, but they get it right all the time. They serve good Turkish wine too.

Great restaurant,great value for money with a exceptional quality product,I love the open flame cooking that greats you once you enter the restaurant.The staff have a great energy that rubs of on the clients.I suggest the grilled lamb liver.

I succumbed to a late night 'kebab' thoughts on the way home and ventured into Soul Flame to get my fill.Hey I like my old school kebabs (at the time, though often regret in the morning), but this place ain't no typical kebab shop and doesn't do typical kebabs.Meat is cooked raised over coals, so no grill residue from previous customers choices.Ingredients are fresh and have additional salad options including olives - a nice touch. And it all pays out in the taste, which was blimmin great.They are more expensive than your corner kebab shop but well worth it (both then and the next morning)

I have eaten here three times recently, the food is cooked to order, typical Mid East menu, grills, salads, dips and bread with a few daily specials. I rate this place up with the best on the Edgware Rd, fine quality food well cooked.

I absolutely love this place... you can either eat in or takeaway or Deliveroo now... I always have the best experience with these guys... the food is super tasty and you can guarantee that Morat and his team will make your visit a great one. They also have a private dining area downstairs which is really good. Definitely worth a check out.

Ate here after visiting friends from the area and they had booked it. Don't let the look of the place put you off. The food was amazing. The service was really good and the staff were really friendly. We had the large sharing platter between 4 and it was a good amount. The food was really nice. Would definitely go back and eat here if I am in the area again and I would recommend it.

Excellent lunch deal!! Great hearty food. Good for a vegetarian like me. My husband loved his kebabs. We eat here at least once every fortnight.

Frequented by a family member and we soon realised why. A modest look belies the quantity and quality of the well prepared many varieties of first class kebabs and grilled meats. A very good family atmosphere is an additional bonus.Overall a 15/20

We found this place about half a year ago and have since returned a few times because it's so good!Loads of choice, the food is fresh, deicious - and there's plenty of it, too!Staff are super friendly and will go out of their way to exceed customer expectations. This restaurant may be good for in-house dining experience, but this is not the place to go for a quick bite to eat or a cheeky take away. Myself and a colleague went in for a quick healthy lunch to take away, ended up costing us £8 for a plain chicken wrap and £12 (!!!!) for a small chicken salad (I use the term 'salad' in the loosest sense).The chicken was dry, the salad was a miss-match of greens they had found. The best part of the meal was the humus (which you had to pay extra for).Be aware of ordering without looking at the price list here!

Soul Flame is without doubt the best Turkish food in London and I've eaten plenty. We stumbled upon this restaurant on the high street after a leisurely walk along the riverside. We were in the mood to EAT and Soul Flame didn't disappoint. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food and salads were fresh and delicious. I'm vegetarian and the choices were endless. My husband isn't and confirms that the meat and fish are divine. We were so happy with our experience that we returned within the week with friends, who after eating, enquired if a food delivery was available in their area. The restaurant has a wonderful friendly atmosphere. The staff can't do enough to please. We have just bought a new home Putney and finding this little gem of a place is the icing on the cake. Oh speaking of cake, they do a baklava style dessert with clotted cream ... to die for!!!

Both take-away and seated, Soul Flame pedals good, good food. We had hot and cold meze and shared. Everything, without exception, was so good it's almost misleading to give special mentions. Even the flat bread was fantastic. That said.... DO NOT miss the Calamari. Very good value, I'd go out of my way to re-visit.

My daughter has just moved into a flat in Putney and we wanted somewhere to relax after a busy day. Soul Flame was a very welcoming place, with excellent staff, who helped us to have an enjoyable evening there. The food, although basically Turkish was very varied. There was plenty of traditional starters - the aubergine dip was especially good and a wide range of main courses, including plenty of vegetarian choices - the ham shank in a tomato based sauce was excellent. The wine list was very limited but the house red was good. Also excellent value for money. Hope to return when next in Putney.

The foods are excellent. We visited here twice during our short 3-day stay at London. The best we tried is the lamp rip cooked by charcoal. That's definitely of great taste. Highly recommended.

We visited for an early dinner.We tried humus with bread and the mixed flame bbq meat. The lamb ribs were the best, followed by the chicken wings. Very tasty! Even the simple salad with olive oil and vinegar tasted amazing.Special recommendation to try a traditional yogurt drink. It matches the taste of the meat very well.Also it was very good value. I'd need to come back to visit again!

Delicious food, authentic flavours, healthy, authentic staff. Came across this restaurant by chance after walking the Thames Path. Definitely the best Turkish food we have eaten...anywhere. The venue is also very clean, serves alcohol and is very close to Puney Bridge Underground. We will go back. Jo Australia

I've eaten here twice recently on business trips to London. Very warm welcome followed by tasty and well presented food. Recommended if you are in the area.

What a lovely little find! If you are drinking in or around the bars of putney, you can't go wrong to grab a bite to eat from this place. Great quality food. For me though, the best thing is to grab one of the limited tables inside and then sample some of the great choice of dishes they have to offer. You will not be disappointed, and will not leave hungry, all for a very reasonable price. Nice ice cold beer, even the house red from Turkey wasn't bad. Flaming good value!!!

Noticed restaurant at new year so finally got round to trying get it.Had looked up menu online so had decided in advance what to order, arrived and menu had changed (3 weeks later website still showing old menu) but not disappointed. Food was better than excellent and staff were really nice, even gave us a complimentary baklava dessert. Definitely going to go again

I live round the corner from here & thought it was just a take away until recently but decided to try it once I realised it was a sit down restaurant. Went here for a quick bite to eat & work & was very impressed. The service was fast & the beer & wine was really cheap for a decent sized portion. But the food really impressed us. Freshly cooked to order not greasy manky kebabs. Loads of fresh bread & salad & amazing chicken & kofte with delicious yoghurt. Will 100% be visiting again & my advice would be to go hungry as the portions are huge!

After finding the 786th best restaurant in London i was very excited to try it.I ordered a takeaway, the lamb was dry, overcooked and so was the turkish sausage.For £9 for the lamb the portion size was rubbish! £15 for main and starters, id pay no more than £7 for that again.

My party of three shared the yogurthu kofte, lamb and chicken shish combination and a couple of starters. All the food was hot, fresh and very tasty and the service was friendly and quick. Food plus a couple of bevs came to ~£35. Will definitely return.

We go here quite a bit and get a takeaway, it feels like you are eating in a beautiful Mediterranean country rather than Putney as the food is delicious and fresh.The staff are always pleasant and I've never had a bad meal from here.

Had an enjoyable girls night out at Soul Flame. The food was delicious - both the meze and the mains. Everything looked so good that we over-ordered. Service was helpful and friendly and provided a doggy bag for leftovers with no problem. Unfortunately the Friday evening we visited the restaurant had no fish dishes at all which was a shame as we had partly gone there for this. Other than that though, all was fine. Good atmosphere, though not one if you're looking for a romantic meal.

We came here based on TripAdvisor reviews and weren't disappointed - the chefs at this casual dining place are magicians. Try the full platter - succulent meat, fluffy rice and flavoursome dips at a decent price. We went back a few nights later we were so impressed.

As a tourist from Australia staying in a AirBNB locally, I couldn't believe that a place in humble old Putney would sit so high on the rankings for London restaurants. I decided to check it out with my wife and three kids. Wow, wow and wow. If this wasn't the best meal we have eaten out then it is definitely the best Turkish. We order the £39 platter for 2-3. Unfortunately we made the mistake on loading up on the tasty dips and bread mezze which come out first, because when the meat and rice platter came out we didn't have enough space to fit it all in. Amazing, delicious or scrumptious do not do this dish justice. Sadly I only have five more nights in London which means only five more opportunities to eat at this tremendous restaurant.

I've been many times. Amazing food, taste great, stuff ready to gives you attention and very very clean! No excuses for not coming back!

A delightful small restaurant located near to Putney Bridge, specialising in Turkish cuisine. Monday to Friday lunch time special is £6.50 and this comprises of a starter, main course and a basket of hot bread. At the time of my visit a complimentary bowl of Turkish salad was also thrown in. The food was tasty and well presented. Staff were smart, tidy and polite. I left feeling quite full afterwards and thought that it was an excellent lunch deal. Will certainly visit there again...

Really enjoyed this place. The staff were very friendly even to the point of allowing me and my companion to continue to chat for nearly an hour after we had finished eating and then brining us a free baklava each. The food was great! We ordered the 2 kebab combo with grilled veggies and rice and it was really good. Meat was succulent and good portions. Also, served at our table upon sitting down was gilled bread, olives and a salad which was a really nice touch. Highly recommend this place!

I'm going to keep this simple. The food is excellent and staff is wonderful. The setting is simple, but comfortable; a neighborhood place that makes you want to move to that neighborhood. I had a fairly typical assortment of appetizers, kebabs and desert of baklava and it was all excellent at very reasonable prices. Go. Go now.

Came here for a meal on a Saturday night and wasn't disappointed. Food was very good and plentiful. Staff were welcoming and friendly and gave good advise on the menu. Complementary bread, dips and baklava which was all delicious. We ordered a platter for 2/3 people and it was huge, there was only two of us right enough so we couldn't finish it but was offered to take it away, which we did. Tasted baba ganoush for 1st time and could have ate it by the bucket load. Reasonably priced and a nice little place to eat in. Will definitely be back next time I'm in London.

We ate in (comfortable however not sure it's somewhere that you'd go on a romantic date..) however it seems that take-away seems to be more popular at this place. The food is delicious but big portions so make sure that you don't over order! The staff are charming and really add to the experience. Got some baklavas on the house which was an added bonus. This is a great addition to Putney High Street a destination not exactly short of the odd pub or restaurant. For lunch it does a spectacularly good deal, involving two courses from a fairly extensive menu for a mere £6.50! On arrival in an already pretty full restaurant I was taken to a banquette against the back wall in its long thin but clean and modern space. To my right sat a couple of gentlemen who chose a mixed grill for two which could easily have fed four and ultimately defeated them. I was more than content sampling the set lunch starting with Kisir, a plate of bulgur wheat mixed with tomatoes and a sauce. It had a perfect texture between being dry and a paste. The accompanying bread was spit on too. My main was cubes of lamb served with rice, onion slices and peppers. Again, everything about it was just right. I washed this all done with a 500cl bottle of Efes draught, at £3.95 cheaper than a many other establishments. Service was polite and efficient. I didn't have time for a baklava or shredded wheat dessert, nor even a Turkish. But the whole deal at just over £10.00 excluding service was outstanding. Unsurprising then that even on a Thursday lunchtime this place was doing a roasting trade.

An amazing amount of delicious food for an incredibly reasonable price. Bottled Efes beer is always a plus as are the delightful staff. Exceptional.

We had a dinner here at this restaurant because it was just next to where we were staying. This little restaurant has great Turkish style bbq. We had some Chicken skewers, lamb chops and beyti kebab. They were all very tasty.The starters we had, sucuk and cheese puff pastry were not as great as the main dishes but they were acceptable.The staff was super friendly and professional.If you are in the area it is a good place to eat turkish bbq.

It's becoming unusual to have truly friendly service in London, especially at this price point, but the staff at Soul Flame are absolutely lovely, and delivered everything with a smile. The food was delicious, with complimentary olives and warm (AMAZING) flatbreads. The portions of our mains were huge and absolutely delicious. I'm so glad to have found such a gem in our neighbourhood, I'll definitely be back!
