No volveremos.

Been to this restaurant on a number of previous occasions and was extremely pleased with everything about it. However, my sister and her husband came to visit and we went for a meal on Saturday night. The starters weren't anything to write home about and when we ordered the mains two of us wanted rib eye steak but they only had one left so I had wild boar burger, which was on the dry side, my sister ordered a chicken dish that was stuffed with leeks and something else but hardly any stuffing in it and my husband ordered duck which was a bit too undercooked for his liking and small portion sizes. Desserts were up impressive so all in all a bit of a let down for us all. Won't be rushing back!

My wife and I visited Saturday evening, 23 November. Had three attempts to get our preferred wine of choice eventually settling for a bottle which the staff reduced in price for the inconvenience. The meal was excellent the only fault being the base of my scotty bread on which my haggis and pigeon breast sitting was a little burnt , but having left that, every thing was delicious The premises seemed to lack a little atmosphere but the young staff were very attentive. A fine meal, with a good variety of choice ( I had the venison main course) with very reasonably priced wines (Italian house Merlot at £9.00 excellent). Overall good value for money If we visit Dumfries again I know where to dine..

First impressions were of a clean, well managed restaurant. The daily specials menu had enough choice of seasonal dishes to meet all tastes. The quality of service was excellent. The wine choice is good and prices very reasonable. The starter of scallops with black pudding and crispy parma ham was the best I had ever had (10/10 for presentation). We went on to enjoy the steak platter and chilli prawns with linguini and garlic bread. Unfortunately, there was no room to enjoy a dessert. The prices were very reasonable. The chef took the time to speak to us about our experience. His comment that his target was to ensure that every customer left satisfied, was, in my view, certainly being met. The "Park" has its own unique style and ambience. I would recommend it to anyone. I cannot wait for our next visit.

We ate in the restaurant of the Hotel we stayed in as a stopover and was totally impressed by the quality and unbelievable value of the meal.I had the salmon from the main menu and my wife had the sea bass. Neither of us can remember eating better versions despite paying several times more in other restaurants. Our children had delicious children's meals that we would have happily eaten ourselves! The early bird menu had a wide choice and the specials were tempting, every meal we saw go past looked fabulous and we had food jealousy for several. Ours arrived quickly and I cannot praise the chef enough, everything was perfect. We finished with a delicious cheese board with oatcakes while the children demolished the sticky toffee puddings. Service was fast and friendly and you would not believe how little we paid for everything, suffice to say we could have spent more on a decent takeaway and drinks from a supermarket!Well done to all at the Park, if there is any justice in the world you will soon have a waiting list for tables and you can double your prices to where they deserve to be. Many thanks for a memorable meal and a thoroughly pleasant surprise.

Don't be put of by the façade and surroundings. The food is spectacular. The wine is very good and way too cheap. We ate there for the first time after finding it on Trip Advisor as the restaurant we actually wanted to eat in was fully booked (Hullabaloo). Food in this place was much better, half the price and with fantastic service. I was amazed to find out he head chef was on holiday and it was actually the sous chef who was on his own when we visited. If this is the standard prepared by a sous chef I can't wait to go back and see what the head chef can do. Best food in town by a country mile! Do try the scallops and stornoway black pudding with parma ham with apple compote - outstanding.

don't be put off by the hotel frontage - we thought we'd gone to the wrong place. We're told the hotel is being done up by new owners, but it doesn't show yet!Persevere. The restaurant is round the back and downstairs, and the room itself is spacious and quiet, and very nicely appointed. The menu is interesting, and supported by daily specials which do change daily! We went on Friday, and were so impresssed we returned the next day, to find new delights. The chef is very good, and succeeds in balancing imaginative dishes with solid staples: he clearly needs to cater for a range of customers at present, though he deserves a reputation as a very good cook, and someone to seek out for a serious eating experience.Link that with really friendly front of house staff, and ridiculously low prices for wine (£4.50 for a decent 50cl of house wine), a relaxed and unhurried atmosphere, and 'generous' portions, and you can't go far wrong. We had two courses from the a la carte, plus (quite a lot of) wine, and left with a bill of just over £40. Twice!Go now before he realises what a bargain he is offering.

Spent 10 days in Dumfries & Galloway, our final two days in Dumfries. For our last night we wanted somewhere nice to eat and our B&B owner told us to try this place as it was getting good reviews locally. We had had some good meals during our trip south but this left us believing the saying "leave the best till last". The food was mouthwatering, my wife had Scallops followed by Pork belly (a favourite of hers) and said she had never tasted any thing better. I disagree because I had steak and asked for a Brandy sauce-this wasn't on the menu-but was no trouble to them. Cooked to perfection and complemented with a lovely velvety sauce, I can't recall having had a better steak in this country. The restaurant was tastefully decorated and the staff were very pleasant. Two courses with a nice bottle of House Red for under $ 60. This is the 1st time I have written a review, I just felt the need to tell people about this gem.

The ribeye steak I ordered was great value at £16.99 including all the trimmings and tasted terrific. We had the grand kids with us and there was an adequate kids menu again at reasonable prices. This is the second time we have dined at this restaurant. The first time I had one of the best steaks I have ever had. As a fan of my meat medium rare I often find it being served cold which was not the case at the Parks. I was very impressed. As for cost, it was reasonably priced especially considering the portion size and quality. Great onion rings. The second time we chose to try the new Early Bird menu. The burger was absolutely delicious and came with a massive portion of tasty chips and salad. This is an excellent restaurant and on both visits the food has stood out on its own. The surroundings are coming on too as the place becomes more popular and they can afford to spend more money on it. The prices are fair for the quality of the food and about average compared to the other local restaurants. The Early Bird Menu is fantastic value of money considering the quality and portion size.It wasn't busy on either occasion but it still had a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Great soundtrack playing! I so desperately wanted to rate this full marks on everything because the food was so good but the service let it down just a little. On our first visit, the waitress explained she was new so we didn't mind the little mistakes, forgotten steak knives, running to other staff before she could answer any questions (What's the house wine/soup of the day?). Our second visit, we had the same lass and although her serving skills had improved slightly her service was still a little rusty. Again, simple questions about the menu left her giggling awkwardly until someone could assist. In conclusion, the food was so good, I can forgive the waitress for now...

Me and a friend went here after thinking we should try somewhere new for dinner and seeing all the positive reviews on trip advisor made it look great but I was completely disappointed. The surroundings were very simple - not a place to get dressed up and go to at all. The atmosphere was pretty much non existent and some of the food was a bit strange. With such a small selection on the menu (about 6 starters, 6 mains (not including what was on the specials board) and about 6 desserts, I was thinking that each dish would be of a really high standard but unfortunately I was wrong. I had the roasted vegetable stack to begin and it was cold and a bit gungey. The duck with vanilla and orange reduction was smothered in the sweet sauce and fairly sickly. The dessert was apple and berry crumble (just apples but with a couple of berries plonked on top) and was so hot I had to wait at least 5 mins til it was edible, and then it was very disappointing. The wine I ordered at the start of the meal (white) was room temperature and so I asked the waitress to put it back in the fridge until the main course but that didn't improve it much. Generally I don't like to moan about things like this but I was really disappointed by the meal and wouldn't recommend it. The saving grace was that the girls working were lovely, but I wouldn't go back.

Excellent food, well prepared. Service was friendly - maybe not the most experienced but that didn't matter. They may need to think about the overall ambience which can be a little "cold" if there are few diners. We liked what they had done with the decor - just needs a little warmth here and there. They were extremely attentive to a very unusual dietary issue which involved them adapting several elements of one of their menu items. Both waiter and chef spoke to me before we settled on a dish. This was all handled in really friendly manner.
