£39 for a 3 course Sunday lunch or £36 for 2 courses?! No veggie roast dinner option although I was offered frozen veg sausages or just a load of veg. It was VERY expensive for an average service and an ok meal. The carrots were hard and no green veg but other than that it was ok just VERY expensive for what it was. Also the front.l of the building needs some attention, entering is quite depressing with peeling paint etc Also we ate in the bar and a local came in and was chatting away to the bar man and frequently swearing at high wasn’t pleasant

Very disappointing food. My husband ordered steak with peppercorn sauce. There were no peppercorns. I ordered a fish dish in a sauce with mussels. The mussels were extremely difficult to open. Thank goodness I didn't fall ill. Perhaps they were just not cooked enough. The dessert was 3 miniscule scoops of ice cream from a local company. Oh and the nibbles left much to be desired. The home made hummus was just roughly smashed up boiled chickpeas and had no flavour. The foccacia was the only redeeming feature. All this and a bottle of wine for £100 was rather steep! Very sub standard food for the price.

We booked a cream tea here for £15.50 each. Must be booked 24 hrs in advance. Absolutely beautiful and very tasty. They catered for an egg allergy without a problem. Complete range of sandwiches, salmon and cucumber, cheese and pickle, beef and tomato, ham and mustard and egg mayonnaise, scones with jam and clotted cream, cakes and petite puddings. Beautifully displayed serves with tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Couldn’t fault it

Sunday night is a quiz night that could be heard in the room, not a pleasant experience, Car park could do with some attention in need of repair. Room not that special for 4 stars, breakfast, was ok not a real full English, disappointed did not have any vegan options on the menu, even though we put this preference on the booking form, it obvious they don’t read the information provided. Staff are friendly though my rating would be 2 stars.

The service was friendly and knowledgeable with no waiting. The recommendations for food and drink were spot on. We both had the sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection. For dessert one had Eton Mess and the other had a selection of icecream/sorbet. The Eton Mess was delicious and came with a strawberry and mint icecream which was to die for. There was a good choice of icecreams/sorbets, the highlight of which was the gingerbread icecream. Worth every penny, woukd go again.

I had a baby shower at the Randolph last weekend with 16 of my nearest & dearest. I lost my last baby last year unfortunately so cancelled my previous booking I had made & when booking for this time round Jenny kindly said to make a donation to my chosen charity instead of paying them the fee for the function room. Which I thought was so lovely! On the day- The food was delicious, we had a fork buffet & the quality was amazing. The only thing I would say was to have had some more normal meat rather than the cured but that’s only because I couldn’t eat it! 😄 It was all really chilled & everyone had a lovely time.

Visited for a family get together, late booking for 7 but were superbly accommodated on a table in the bar so we could bring our dog. The meal was superb, every dish was tasty and beautifully presented and the service from Jenny was fantastic, thank you so much. We are resident and so lucky to have such a lovely restaurant/bar/hotel in walking distance. Without doubt one of the top places to eat in Southwold, it is well worth the walk (circa 20mins) if you are staying in town.

We ate in this restaurant for the 2 nights we stayed and also for breakfast. The breakfast choice was very good with the ‘Full English’ coming with Gareth’s home made black pudding 😋. There is also a selection of cereals if required. My wife enjoyed the muffin and poached eggs which were cooked to perfection. Breakfast is also open to non residents so if you are meeting friends they can join you. She likes to see a runny yoke but many establishments fail to achieve this. For the evening meals there is also a nice selection for starter, main course and dessert so it is easy to find something you like. There is a wide selection of drinks available from the bar and there is also a good selection of wines. We also noticed they do afternoon teas although 24 hours notice is required and a lunch time menu selection. Staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Would thoroughly recommend eating here and of course it’s a no brainier if you are staying at the hotel. Why would you go anywhere else?!.

Grandparents, 2 families each with a young child aged 3 & 2-yrs wanted a traditional Sunday roast whilst staying in Southwold. We walked from our seafront rental in less that half an hour. We were well looked after and the roasts were good with plenty of veg and gravy. They have the Adnams range which kept the boys happy and enough choice of wines for the girls. The highlight for families is the extensive play area to keep the children occupied throughout a long Sunday lunch.

Food was just OK but the big let down was the service. Very understaffed and the young lady who served us had an insolent air about her. We appreciate that she may have been in a bad frame of mind as she seemed to be doing everything on her own after the young waiter disappeared. But that should not reflect on her treatment of guests. Fish and chips ordered by three of us, fish excellent chips were dry and unpalatable. Waited several minutes to pay our bill as our waitress was on the hotel reception phone.

We stopped at this restaurant on our way to visit family for the weekend. We chose from the ‘light snacks’ menu although there was a more substantive lunch menu with a good selection. I had a seasonal ciabatta with turkey, cranberry and stuffing which came with a decent helping of crisps and some salad washed down with a pint of Aspalls! My wife had a bowl of mussels with white wine shallots and garlic. A classic moules marinières!, served with a piece of ciabatta which tasted fantastic. Will certainly stop here again!

Dreadful experience when organising a family get together. After weeks of confirming a menu, being promised by 2 members of staff that the menu WOULD NOT change spending time organising a pre order alongside paying a hefty deposit, the Randolph demonstrated how completely incapable they are of handling a large group. After speaking with the owner they weren't even willing to do a chicken dish for a couple travelling 6.5 hours from Scotland. The customer comes first philosophy definitely doesn't apply here.Luckily for us we found a fabulous nearby pub that did some unbelievable food and couldn't do enough for us.Go spend your money elsewhere! :-)

The restaurant at the Randolph hotel looks much more modern than the building exterior would suggest. The menu was quite extensive and there would be something to suit most people. I started with whitebait and it was so generous I began to think I had been served the main course size by mistake, they were accompanied by two large pieces of bread. My main course was a Parmesan coated pork chop with celeriac coleslaw and a pile of what I would call chipsticks, described as frites on menu. Couldn’t do the main course justice as was almost full from my starter so definitely couldn’t manage a dessert. Waiting staff were pleasant and Adnams shandy and glass of Rioja were good. Very reasonably priced.

Lovely clean modern hotel/restaurant. Very quiet for saturday lunch and deserved to be much busier. Beer food and wine all very good indeed, chicken dish was gorgeous we both had, puddings lovely, coffee and ginger biscuits to end, reasonable price for such good quality food. Only downside was the staff kept vanishing so we had nobody to serve us when we returned after lunch for a drink before going home, we waited 10 minutes by the bar and no body appeared so we just left. other than that which was possibly down to limited staff needed elsewhere it was wonderful, will definitely go back as that was by far the best food in the area we have had and we have covered most bases there over the years.

We were on holiday in the area and wanted to do Afternoon Tea as a treat. Must admit we originally looked at The Swan, however it was fully booked. So glad it was as we would never have found The Randolph! Phoned up to book a table and the person I spoke to was chatty and friendly and asked if we had any special requirements. Arrived and were promptly shown to our table and were asked if we wanted tea or coffee. Food and drinks were served quickly and were delicious. Sandwiches, sausage roll, scone with jam and cream and a selection of cakes - lush. Enjoyed the tea so much, we decided to book for dinner the Friday evening - again delicious. My husband had the Steak which was perfectly cooked and I had the Pork and Apple burger which was also very good. Dessert was melt in the mouth good! Cheesecake and the Coconut Cream and Pineapple. Definatley worth going out of the way slightly to get to (its in Reydon so about 5 mins drive from Southwold) and no problems parking as there can be in Southwold. My husband and I both had steak for dinner and both were delicious. The breakfasts were equally top notch - we will certainly be back!

Afternoon tea is definitely the ‘in thing’ at the moment. So many eateries host an afternoon tea and whilst the options are endless, for me, it still has to be classic, it has to be traditional with the small cakes and sandwiches and adding a twist to this classic afternoon etiquette gives it something that little more unique and special.

Our first visit to the Randolph for a family evening meal. Delicious fish and chips, and they did a half portion for my daughter which wasn’t on the menu, and there is also a kids menu. Other members of the party had hake which was also very tasty. Very good puddings, I had roasted peaches with panna cotta, my father in law had a sticky toffee pudding which he really enjoyed. A nice garden with a children’s play area and a big car park. adnams beer and a good wine list, i recommend the adnams white burgundy which I haven’t had before and was lovely. Friendly staff and good service. Will definitely visit again.

The Randolph Hotel is easy to find and has a large car park at the rear. On entering the hotel reception area it is clean light and we received a warm welcome. We had reserved a table in the bar area for Sunday lunch and were glad we did. The roast beef cooked to perfection and very flavoursome with fresh vegetables. The roast pork was equally as good. We did save room for pudding one of which was croissant bread and butter pudding with ice cream and chocolate tart with roasted almond cream ..

What a great find! We visited twice while on holiday in Southwold. Great service & well kept beer. A delicious steak (cooked to perfection) and lovely surroundings. Don’t let the temporary scaffolding put you off! Give it a try!

We enjoyed a delicious lunch in the newly refurbished bar/restaurant. The weekday warmers are particularly good value and really satisfying as well. My sausage/bacon hash with egg was most tasty , while the sharing platters of mixed smoked fish are really good, granary bread might have worked better than the soft white loaf. Desserts are somewhat pricey, but intricate and varied. My creme brulee with rhubarb, rhubarb compote and wonderfully soft home baked shortbread biscuits hit the mark. The staff are all friendly and most attentive.

walk the 15 minutes it takes from the top of Southwold High Street, and eat here instead of the complacent Crown or Swan. Artfully presented food, veggies cooked au point, creative desserts, interesting vegetarian choice and good value - certainly for Southwold! Highly recommended.

Away from the weekend hustle and bustle of Southwold, The Randolph was an oasis of calm. We were there for Sunday lunch.

I was blown away by the food, really good value for money, super tasty and very accommodating. My Mum is dairy intolerant and they changed the prawn dish which was originally in a butter sauce to prawns in tempura batter!!. I have eaten many times in Lowestoft but for us this has been the best !!
