Restaurant At The Bunchrew Hotel in Highland

We had a wonderful meal here from starter to dessert, the menu is very well put together. I had the scallops to start, beef fillet for main and Delice for dessert, all highly recommended, the beef main course was one of the best pieces of beef I have ever had. Simply outstanding!!

This was a celebration meal for my wife’s birthday. It is a lovely Victorian building in beautiful grounds. The food was ok - the main element in the dish was invariably good - scallop / cut of beef, venison etc. The other elements were very ordinary- my vegetables were cold. The staff were friendly but didn’t seem comfortable- it felt as if they were trying to provide a level of service that was beyond them - for example, trying to recite the different ingredients in a dish but not remembering them. We weren’t offered a pre-dinner drink but we managed to shoe-horn this into our menu choices. Overall, the experience was dated. It felt as if they were trying to be posh - it reminded me of going to restaurants in the 1980s. Bunchrew has a lot going for it - with a bit of updating and staff development it could be a five star review. I’ll not be going back until I hear they’ve made some changes.

Delectable fine dining with great Scottish produce. Extreme care was taken on checking for food allergies. Had the three course meal - scallops, salmon and venison cooked to perfection. Amuse-bouche was inventive, tasty and memorable. Friendly and professional service without being intrusive. Would highly recommend and will be back again. Decor has a dated charm but views are exceptional. If in inverness go for meal here.

Stayed here on their Afternoon Tea, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast deal and was blown away by the food, simply amazing. The Chefs are so talented. If we thought the GF Afternoon Tea was delicious, then bring it up a notch with their 3 course GF dinner, finished off at breakfast with the best eggs benedict I have ever eaten, GF or otherwise!

This is my second visit to this traditional Scottish hotel for lunch. You drive in down a 1/2 mile drive through beautifully kept grounds, then you see the house and the Firth. The service is excellent and the food fantastic, the dining room has lovely views over and down the Firth. They have a very good wine list. Lunch was perfect.

I loved the whole experience. From the moment I set eyes on the doggy welcome bags, I was immediately sold and we were not disappointed. We were made to feel so welcome as a family, even when my teenage daughter locked herself out her room. Lots of hotels we have visited have said they are dog friendly but this one truly was. The food was fantastic. The staff, exceptional, they are a credit to the hotel and really made the over all experience extra special. Especially the two staff members who were working on the Friday night When we arrived, engaging, friendly and nothing was too much of an ask. The views were breath taking. We cannot wait to return in the summer. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We were so pleasantly surprised by dinner here - we were booked into the hotel as s stopover, didn't realise the evening would be a highlight of the holiday in itself. At £35 for 2 courses or £45 for three, the food is not cheap but we thought it was excellent value for the quality - starter is preceded by perfectly-executed canapes, freshly baked bread, in our case accompanied by a whipped beetroot butter. Tea coffee and petits fours are included too. We enjoyed perfect mushroom veloute and scallops with a lobster jus, followed by monkfish and venison. Everything was excellent, as was the service. Drinks in the gorgeous lounge in front of the fire before and after. The dining room manages to be both grand but informal - steeped in history with portraits of the ancestors adorning the wood-panelled walls but staff ensure the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Wines on the pricey side but an extensive list if you're out for a treat and no pressure - we loved that wine by the glass was delivered in individual carafes allowing us to pour it into beautiful glasses at our own pace. Very safe during Covid times too with lots of social distancing etc. A very lovely experience, thank you all.

We went here on the last night of our stay at the campsite next to it so could walk there and have a drink. The set menu had some very different dishes on it but those that we had were excellent and there was something for the vegetarian in our party. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was very clean and comfortable clean. The only thing i would say that if you are a person with a good appetite this might not be suitable place for you.

I would highly recommend this hotel to to anyone, fab food and location. I was here a year ago for a friends get together which we all said the next day that we would love to come back. I hope to be back soon once lockdown improves

We stayed for one night at Bunchrew House Hotel (picked at random online) and ate dinner at the restaurant - we were delighted with dinner and our stay! It's a little pricey but well worth it - everything we ate was absolutely delicious. The dining room is beautiful and there are lovely views (which would obviously last longer in summer!). The staff were lovely, warm and welcoming and really made us feel at home both at dinner and in the lounge and bar. Would highly recommend.

We stayed for 4 nights and had without fail excellent imaginative food, from the amuse bouches all the way through to the desserts and always served with a smile by the lovely staff.

From the moment we entered till the moment we left the staff were on hand friendly efficient and courteous! A magnificent hotel with class and style. A lot of history as well. A good variation menu and a well stocked bar especially if the Single Malt! Full recommended and would be back soon as possible!

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Bunchrew earlier in the year, had great service, beautiful food and gorgeous scenery, what more could you ask for other than George Clooney to share it with you!

The dining room has great ambience, and complements what is clearly an assured hand in the kitchen. We ate at the restaurant on 3 consecutive nights, either two or three courses. A six or seven course degustation menu is also available, with matching wines if selected. We found it odd that there were no specials reflecting seasonal or daily variation in produce. We also noted that on each night there were large groups which arrived around 7pm. They were not all in-house guests. Staff were clearly under pressure with the enhanced numbers. The dining room appears capable of accommodating around 60 people; staffing is appropriate to a much lesser number. We were early diners, so it didn't impact us too much, but had we chosen to eat later I suspect we may have found the service compromised. The restaurant does double service as a breakfast room; breakfasts are as you would expect, heartly and with extensive choices.

Good menu options either 2 or 3 course a la carte, or a 7 course taster menu with matched wine option.

The setting, service and sustenance were all superb. A delightful evening from start to finish in a beautiful setting with great ambiance.

As for the hotel, please see separate review. Due to mediocrity, but mainly for their revolting pricing policy, I was able to give only two points. It remains a mystery for me how they got any awards. Neither is there any notable quality, nor value for money. They charge 650 for their better rooms which is reflecting self-confidence.

Bij binnenkomst gelijk vriendelijk ontvangen, hadden niet gereserveerd en kregen een mooie suite zonder meerprijs. Onze kamer was super met een geweldig bed. Savonds lekker in het restaurant gegeten, prijzen van het eten liggen wel vrij hoog.

Hermoso lugar pero servicio horrible (como en ninguno). Y Requime de Mozart también es hermoso pero no relajado como la música clásica con un café de la mañana. Después de pedirle a amigos un cambio de música, simplemente lo apagaron. No hay música en absoluto. . . : (

El maitre - d secte en el lujoso salón, discutió el menú y tomó nuestro pedido. Luego nos sirvió nuestras bebidas y deliciosos canapés antes de llevarnos al comedor. Cada plato era hermoso y sabroso, presentado de una manera perfectamente sincronizada en el entorno elegante, casi real. ¡Era perfecto para cada detalle!

If you like modern, fine dining then Bunchrew House is for you! We have had two evening meals in quick succession - mainly to check that the first meal wasn’t a fluke! My husband has visited Scotland every year of his life (he’s over retirement age so quite a few times!) and his statement after our first meal was that it was the best meal he’d ever had in Scotland. The menu is imaginative and the food is just delicious. If you want meat and two veg with chips this is not for you! We will be returning as soon as possible.

had a 2 night stay and an afternoon tea in this wonderful old house ,staff couldn't have been better I have stayed in many 5 and 6 star hotels around the world and the people working here deserve to give them selves a pat on the back had a wonderful stay

Visited for 1st time as part of a larger group for afternoon tea, had expected we would overlook the Moray Firth but no. Savoury bites, sausage rolls were lovely apart from the rolls which tasted as if had been made day before and dissappointed only roast beef and smoked salmon for fillings. Tea and coffee were replaced but felt we had to find somebody to ask. In all honesty, didn’t feel it was worth £25.

Très belle salle de restaurant. des moquettes sur un vieux parquet qui craque, des boiseries... C'est digne d'un manoir hanté ! Amuse-bouche (saumon fumé et pruneau au lard), velouté de céleri avec un verre de prosecco, beetroot assiette (charred goat's curd, endive jam, raspberry balsamic) avec un verre de sancerre rosé, lemon and lim sorbet, bien raffraichissant en guise de trou normand, halibutt avec un verre de pouilly fumé, ardgay venison, petits choux en dessert avec un vin de dessert de New-Zealand. C'est fin, c'est délicieux !

Comimos en el restaurante, con preciosos alrededores y vistas del Firth. Había una opción entre su menú a la carta o un menú de degustación. Fuimos a la carta y comenzamos con las vieiras cosechadas a mano seguidas de un lomo de venado con papas dauphinoise y verduras de temporada. La comida era deliciosa y cocinada a la perfección!

Castle like hotel restaurant. Very cosy, luxurious salon and restaurant. Beautiful setting. Drinks before dinner were served next to the open fire in a comfortable setting. Nice sauvignon blanc from Chili. Good wine list, though somewhat expensive (glass of sauvignon blanc for 10 pound sterling). For dinner one can choose from a three course dinner (£ 49,50) or a 7 course dinner (£ 65,-). We had three courses. As a starter scallops and salmon. Both were very good dishes, beautifully presented and of very good taste. As a main dish we chose game pastry. Simply excellent. We chose a simple glass of Rioja crianza (£ 10,- !) to accompany the dish which was a good glass of red wine. The caramel kind of dessert was good and again nicely made up. The only dissapointment of the great evening being the espresso coffee. The coffee was luke warm. We should have sent these back, but we did not. Friendly staff. Great dinner.

As soon as you reach this hotel close to the woods and looking over the gentle canal you feel like you are no longer in 2018. Then you open the wood’s door and ring the bell on the table, the game is on!

Dinner was just superb. Well-prepared dishes, impeccable service, and pleasant staff made each breakfast and dinner that much more special. The venison was prepared perfectly. Scallops were cooked to perfection and the flavor profiles within the dish were spot on.

What a lovely setting and the Staff are Very Friendly and look after you.

Lovely setting although we were seated in the bar while others seemed to be in the dining room or lounge for their afternoon tea. However, we enjoyed the comfy sofa and the warm fire. Service from staff excellent. Lots of tiny bites on the cake stand, plus a few very dainty savouries and one scone each. It was pleasant and enjoyable but extortionately expensive for what it was. A delicious afternoon tea can be had in many other establishments for a third of the price. Prosecco was an extortionate price per glass - one can purchase a whole bottle for that amount! Do not feel the prices are justified, so although it was pleasant experience, we will not be repeating it.

Took our daughter for her 5th birthday treat with granny’s today and had a lovely afternoon. We were lucky to be seated next to the fire and served some beautiful cakes and scones by the two very friendly waitresses. My daughter loves an explore and everyone member of the team we came across from those cleaning the rooms to the lady in the office were so polite and accommodating. Out afternoon spent at Bunchrew was faultless. Keep up

The restaurant is old and tired (just like the hotel) and most of the tables (except for a few in the front rows) have view of parking lot and garbage area. When you ask for a table with a nice view, they pretend that those tables are booked although on their booking list, there are two??... Breakfast was ok, but not worth the bother for dinner...

Having held high expectations from Bunchrew through past experience, I was rather disappointed on my recent visit for afternoon tea. Living in Cornwall, I am rather used to cream teas so was hoping for a more "Highland" flavour being a "native" to the area.The "savoury" selection was below average, the scones were extremely sweet and misshapen. The cake selection was reasonable although we took away most of them. Service was not great - our waitress didn't seem to know the contents of the food e.g. described a lemon posset which was in fact passion fruit. The premises (particularly the toilets) need refurbishment. The plus points are the location, the venue itself, good pot of tea and the fantastic company I had with me.

If you're looking for a special place for afternoon tea you would be hard pressed to find better than the Bunchrew House Hotel. We were delighted to find they had a special offer for a free glass of prosecco with the tea, and really enjoyed the whole experience. There wasn't a curly cucumber sandwich in sight, but delicious hot home made pork and apple sausage rolls, savoury choux buns, black pudding rolls, choux swans and the most delicious array of miniature pastries, cakes and desserts. Be sure to book in advance so that you're not disappointed. Will definitely return with my parents when they visit in the autumn.

All the good things I've been hearing about the food here are true. 4 of us had lunch and it was all very good. The sweetbreads were delightful and the scallops were good. Ample cheese on the cheese course and the desserts looked well turned out.Service was efficient and polite.Lovely building and setting.Thumbs up 2 rosette dining. Well done chef, you know what you're about. We will all be back!!!

We stayed for one night at Bunchrew House and visited their restaurant. The food was to die for! The goats cheese tart melted in the mouth. We were served a choice of bread and opted for the unusual shallot and bacon slice which was soooooo tasty. The slow cooked fillet of beef was flavoursome and the accompaniments delicious. The service was impeccable. We are definitely going to return in the very near future.

Excellent food, and good old fashioned service. Starts with an amuse bouche, ends with petite four. All courses we had were delicious, and left no room for dessert. The petite fours more than made up for no dessert, so leave room for them!

Atmospheric formal dining room charmingly decorated for Christmas and with knowledgable and attentive wait staff.Amazing, wonderful food.Husband had smoked duck breast starter served with a Scotch Qails egg - cooked to prefection. I had salmon starter with caiver that was also wonderful. Main courses were: a mouth meltingly wonderful veinson and hake with mussels served with a lobster velouté sauce to die for.

Beautiful house and good food. We were left for 15 mins in the drawing room without being shown to our pre-booked table or offered a drink. We were then repeatedly ignored despite our attempts to get the staffs attention.

We returned this year for a family celebration and again enjoyed a fabulous meal. The menu had a varied choice and had something special for all tastes. It was thoroughly appreciated by all and the whole evening just perfect.

J'avoue ne pas avoir été bluffé par les plats, par contre l'accueil dans un petit salon le temps de choisir nos plats et que notre table soit prête était très agréable. La salle du restaurant intéressante par l'ensemble des portraits qui décoraient les murs. Grande salle, propre, pas trop de proximité entre les tables. Les plats étaient bons préparés avec d'excellents produits, mais rien d'exceptionnel pour le prix.

Wir waren zweimal zum Abendessen im Buchrew Restaurant und jedesmal begeistert! Nach dem Empfang am Kaminfeuer mit einem kleinen Drink wird man zum Tisch geleitet. Das Personal ist überaus freundlich und serviceorientiert. Die gepflegte Einrichtung und der wunderschöne Blick nach draussen sind eine ideale Grundlage für ein gastronomisches Erlebniss. Und in diesem Sinne hat die Küche auch einiges zu bieten! Auf der täglich wechselnden Speisekarte finden sich Gerichte, die mit großem Sachverstand zubereitet werden. Schmackhaft, anregend, aber nicht verkünstelt. Das Preisniveau ist durchaus hoch, aber angemessen! Wir kämen gerne öfter, wenns nicht so weit wäre!

Abendessen sehr elegant u. gut, gehobene Klasse. Frühstück gute Auswahl u. sehr gut, wird serviert, kein Buffet.

We stayed on the property and chose to have dinner as a convenience but we could not have been more pleased with the meal. We each had two courses, I chose the scallop starter followed by salmon and my husband had rabbit followed by the cheese course. The service was excellent as was the food. We would not hesitate to have dinner here again.

C'est tout à fait sympathique mais pas exceptionnel. Bref, ce n'est ni moyen, ni très bon mais bon, sans plus. La gentillesse du personnel fait oublier certaines déceptions culinaires.

We had a wonderful few days at the Bunchrew Hotel recently and so enjoyed the food in the restaurant that we started and ended each day at the hotel restaurant. Everything was prepared with care and beautifully presented. Breakfasts were hearty and tasty and dinners were exceptional. The chef was happy to accommodate my requests for substitutions and my teenage daughter's vegan requests. Afternoon tea was delightful. The dining room is beautiful and cozy and exactly what you want in an Inn in the Scottish Highlands!

The menu changes daily and is of the highest quality produce. The service is excellent and the meal and wine were worth going back for.

A sunny afternoon in the Highlands with great friends in a fabulous location.The service was nothing short of fabulous, the afternoon tea/scones was delicious as was the GnT and coffee's.On a different note the prices are somewhat expensive albeit a fab location, but in all honesty a number of the local garden centres match this service with more bang for your ££. Its worth a visit, but ensure your wallet is loaded up.

We had a fabulous meal in the restaurant while staying at this hotel. My husband had the duo of beef and I had the wild mushroom risotto. Both were fabulous and we both had desserts which were also great. The staff were nicely attentive and very helpful with anything we required. We would definitely recommend this restaurant. The location is stunning.

We met two of our friends, who were guests at the hotel, here for dinner. It was not only a stunningly beautiful building, the staff were exceptionally thoughtful and gracious. We had a delicious and beautiful meal overlooking sunset on the loch, and then sat and visited over drinks in the drawing room. This was a magical evening, and if I ever return to Inverness, I'd love to stay here in the hotel as well.

We just stopped for coffee, and enjoyed some lovely home made shortbread. The atmosphere was comfortable, the decor traditional for the grand house. The view over the water and around the property most enjoyable. Highly recommended for a reprieve from the daily routine.

The chef is a little too ambitious. It look us some effort to cut through the lamb while the pastry claimed all taste. Way out of balance.The cheese plate for dessert was just served and without any explanation. All cheese are promised to be from local suppliers so it would have been nice if they told some about the choices.

A lovely room to eat in and excellent views if you are looking out to sea. No long waits between in courses

Restaurante no lindo hotel com pratos especiais e muito bem servido em local de decoração medieval . Vale a pena também o café da manhã , especialmente os eggs benedicts !

The presentation, flavour and lovely atmosphere were all present here. The meal was delicious. We had both Dinner and Breakfast and absolutely no complaints regarding food and service.

Met with friends to enjoy what we hoped would be an enjoyable afternoon tea, sadly this was not the case.We had pre booked, when we arrived there was nothing set up or even an area reserved for us, I guess we were lucky the place was not busy. We waited about 30 before tea finally arrived, a further 10 mins before any food arrived.Sandwiches were ok, pickle on the cheese sandwich was more like jam ! Scones were dry and toasted, clearly not freshly baked, no butter .......Cakes were all very dry and not appetising, shortbread was soft.Never again .......my friend had been at the Drumossie hotel the week before and had an outstanding experience ........I know where I'll be booking next time

Hubby and I enjoyed a smashing quick lunch break here on Thursday- despite forecasts of storms this place is interesting and located alongside the loch giving amazing views.Had salmon sandwiches which were bursting with succulent fish, a cold glass of bubbly and hot chocolate - yummy:) We were so pleased we popped in here- looks like a fairytale castle.

Sensational food, wonderful views and excellent service. Well worth making an effort to seek out. Great choice

Staying near Inverness and by chance landed here for evening meal. From speaking to woman at reception and having meal it was faultless. Food was excellent and the dining room so quaint and stylish. Staff so friendly and very good at their job. View from dining room idyllic. Furthermore staff very knowledgable about gluten free options :)

Amazing food. Excellent quality and amazing taste. Had pheasant for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I had Two courses, and a suprise starter. Modern presentation..BUT, the taste was excellent and consistent. The textures where interesting, and the colour and presentation where city standard. The views onto the Firth added a special dimension.The service was very good, and friendly.For a special meal in the area I would go again. To be fair, I would visit again for the food, when I felt like a relaxing and enjoyable treat.

Great food, very good service, the best place we dined in the area. Beautiful view from the restaurant, overlooking the lake!
