A perfect afternoon tea experience spent with friends and family at Rushton Hall, it’s my 1st time and will surely visit this venue again - the staff were friendly and very helpful, special mention to Jade who served us and Wey who was a delight to meet as she is very courteous and professional in her approach to the clients, I left feeling welcomed by highly trained staff at this venue 👏🏻👏🏻well done-hope to visit again Danielle 🤩

Over-priced with pork chops at £28, and fish & chips at £18. Even bread was charged at over £4. Service was slow and haphazard, 45 mins to get a single starter, which was a poor oxtail broth and three tiny tortellini, described as bland. Apparently plenty of staff but poor restaurant supervision. Having spent 50 years in the restaurant business I am well qualified to comment. Must try harder.

Wasps. There were lots of wasps at the window where we were sat for afternoon tea. I pointed this out and the member of staff said they had previously got someone in to deal with them yet more were there. There was no where else suitable to sit. The staff did come to collect the dead wasps and to stamp on one on the floor. The afternoon tea itself was just ok but not worth the £35. It felt like they had bought in the food. There was one chocolate dessert item that was very good. The scones were quite bread like. The building itself is lovely and the surroundings are great. The staff were all very polite and courteous. If there were no wasps I'd give 3/5.

Had an average experience here which was a bit disappointing given the price and overall ambience and charm of the hotel. Arrived at 8pm for our prebooked table to be told it wasn’t ready. Had a drink in the bar and eventually got to our table. A succession of small but disappointing errors: waiter brought the wrong drink, another waiter dropped and smashed a load of glasses. They then told us our main dish had sold out. Had to order a more expensive steak which arrived with cold bernaise sauce - we asked for more sauce only to be told the sauce had sold out. The steak was tasty and cooked as requested. Summer veg on the side was tiny and hardly anything. We then got a dessert which came with the ice cream already melted as the plate was warm. They replaced the ice cream but with a completely different flavour. After spending over £100 on the meal I did have to ask them to reduce the 12.5% service charge. Silly errors let this fine place down. Expected more of Rushton Hall and felt the staff needed better training and service could have been more refined

Afternoon tea disappointment. Terrible service throughout our afternoon. It was meant to be special occasion for us , unfortunately it was ruined by waiting staff who couldn't care less. Every time we wanted to order something my husband had to get up go to the bar and ask. We waited for 30 min sitting at our table and nobody came in to take our order . Shocking behavior for such a lovely place. Food was good but really do not recommend this place .We expected something really nice ( even McDonald's will bring you food to the table ) .

I booked Rushton Hall as part of a hotel birthday trip. When we arrived at the hotel the receptionist asked what my name was and when I told her she repeated back completely the wrong name, she was also a bit sniffy with us when mentioning the fine dining, saying there is fine dining but it is £70, and my partner got the impression that she was insinuating that we couldn't afford it.

My friend is staying at the hotel in a couple of weeks and is hoping to dine at the restaurant. As she has medical dietary requirements she rang up today to see if she would be able to be accommodated ( bearing in mind a chain like pizza express can accomodate her) she was told she might be too 'awkward'. When my friend eventually said that She can eat plain fresh fish the lady said that they always have fish so she can just choose that! Her whole tone was dismissive, rushed and made my friend feel like a nuisance. I am writing this as she does not have a trip advisor account. I can believe when i look at the prices of both the hotel ( that they are booked to stay in) and the restaurant that in this day and age they can't be more accommodating or at the very least be less begrudging in tone.

The Tresham Restaurant was open for dinner but the only choice was a fixed price menu at £55 per head. I was staying overnight on business and although my expense allowance is generous, my expenses are not this generous! The lounge menu was only available for an hour between midday and 1pm and the hotel do not serve any other food in the evening apart from room service.

Dinner was excellent. In particular, the pea starter and the chocolate dessert were amazing. Only the service did not quite meet the level of the food and accommodation. For example, the pre-dinner drinks in the beautiful hall were very slow to arrive.

The website for Rushton Hall claims it does the "best Sunday lunch in Northamptonshire" - well, I sincerely hope not or Northamptonshire has got problems! I visited here with family and the hotel itself is stunning with beautiful grounds. We were asked to arrive early, presumably to enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the great hall which was very nice. The service up to this point was impeccable; the problems started when we went through to the restaurant. In short, the food was so bland it was almost tasteless. I had the cauliflower velouteto start and in addition to very little flavour, it was also barely warm. The bread rolls, which arrived only just ahead of the starters, were far from fresh. I then had the roast beef for main - again, I have never had a plate with so little flavour! All the components of what should have been a good meal were there, but it managed to be completely bland and unexciting. The other key problem was service - at no point were we offered another round of drinks, and I couldn't help but notice to large food stains on the waistcoat of one waiter. For a restaurant which clearly sells itself on pomp it really failed to deliver. I am sure there are far better roasts elsewhere in the county!

Myself and 3 friends decided to treat ourselves to afternoon tea. We visited in June. I have actually been to RH for AT at least 5 times before, but not since 2013. I was disappointed by the cake selection - the cakes tasted like they had been bought in - they seemed plasticy - not like a home baked cake at all. The macaron was awful - I think it was bubblegum flavour or something - totally inedible. The sandwhiches were lovely, so were the fruit scones. The plain ones were very boring. Not enough clotted cream or jam. Beautiful surroundings and lovely presentation, just disappointing on the sweet items. Save your £ and just have a cream tea or go to The Dining Room in Northampton.

This is my favourite place for afternoon tea. It may not be the cheapest but in my opinion it is one of the best. The attention to detail appeals to me, the way that the food is arranged, the way that the crockery is placed in front of you. Each pastry is a masterpiece that it is almost criminal to eat it, but fear not, if you do the waiting staff soon tempt you with a 'top up' of sweet treats should your cake stand look as though it has room to spare. The food is of a high quality, the sandwiches were fabulous, I'm not sure how they manage to make a cucumber sandwich taste so heavenly, from a food that is fairly tasteless! My godmother and I were not rushed into finishing our food, the staff were attentive but not intrusive. The service was faultless.Afternoon tea is served in the great hall, with fabulous architecture as your backdrop and comfortable seating you soon loose track of time.I am a huge fan of afternoon tea and whilst so many establishments have thrown together an attempt, it is such a delight to find an establishment that raises the bar to gold medal standard.

Came here for afternoon tea and enjoyed it so I booked a family table in the restaurant as a treat for my wife’s special birthday. We were not disappointed. The venue is astonishing. Driving up the approach road through the beautiful grounds you are given a sudden view of the house which is breath-taking. When we arrived we were all seated in the main hall for drinks prior to eating. It is eye-watering. The dining room is wood-panelled and open plan, not cosy but very atmospheric. The Sunday lunch is £35.00 per head including tea/coffee and hand-made chocolates. The quality of food and the service you receive for that is unbelievably good. Homemade bread and focaccia primed us. I had pea and mint velouté with ricotta as starter. Never had it before, it is a frothy soup and was amazing. The roast beef main was superb, cooked pink although if you prefer it can be cooked more. The finest part of the meal though was the strawberry Romanoff. The best dessert I have ever eaten. My belly testifies that I am an expert pudding eater too. It was simply beautiful, in taste and presentation. My son had it as well and we both said at the same time “wow, just this dessert justifies the price of the meal”! The cheese selection was outstanding with an excellent cracker provision. Delicious coffee with a platter of hand-made chocolates finished us off. This is a destination venue and the toilets are glorious!

For the final place to visit with our friends from South Africa we decided to have afternoon tea and cakes at Rushton Hall. Although we have lived nearby for 10 years its our first time to Rushton Hall. (used the cross country practice course many times). We were greeted with a very warm welcome. The disabled parking was filled by no disabled drivers including contractors vehicles and no one made an attempt to assist. The ambiance was first class. We were shown to a table and service was prompt. The food selection for all including my GF range was excellent. Made fresh GF scone's - very tasty. The wine was superb. The only issue was the main male waiter was abrupt; gave limited eye contact and didn't make us feel welcome. So overall a bit of a disappointing experience. I am sure we will go back again one day and try the main restaurant.

Formal looking restaurant with well spaced tables but rather quiet on a Sunday evening so lacked a bit of atmosphere. Reasonable menu choice with 6/7 options for each course and varied enough to suit most tastes. Very professional, friendly service and a good pace. After a very tasty amuse bouche we both opted for a duck starter - my wife loved the duck liver mousse and I was equally pleased with my confit duck mix - both beautifully presented. The mains were also very good but didn't quite hit the mark of the starters - the scotch egg should really have had a bigger egg and my beef was excellently presented but a bit unbalanced - too much horseradish sauce and lacked some potatoes. We finished on a high note with an excellent lemon meringue desert and reasonable cheese board. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the evening and would go again if lived more locally.

Choosing to spend this amount on a dinner is something we reserve for special occasions (our wedding anniversary) - I have to say that this restaurant is really wonderful, easily as good as any of the Michelin star restaurants we have eaten in, and on a par with the best meals we have enjoyed in England (such as The Ritz) and abroad. All dishes were superb, and our photos don't do justice to the expert presentation - a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach! We'd love to come back one day!

Great food in the 3 AA rosette restaurant let down by some strange ingredients that just did not work in some of the pretty and flamboyant dishes being served. Staffed by unwelcoming frosty waitresses and a similar barman in the lounge. They need to up the ante in terms of welcome and customer service. We did need somewhere to put our coats but no-one bothered to ask. Main course was the best (Roast Beef). The arrival at the hall was awesome, the staff made you feel very welcome and the meal was lovely. Disappointed for a couple of reasons, firstly being put at a table with two sofas that were a distance apart so that conversation was too difficult as it was impossible to hear what was being said. We were moved to a much better table but if this hadn't been available not sure it would have been acceptable. On making the booking for afternoon tea I explained some allergies the party had. However on arrival we were asked again and staff were clearly not aware of my initial conversation. When the the food arrived it wasn't correct but we decided to just accept it.The sandwiches were plain, the cakes were uninspiring and limited in content. Then we were offered the petite trifles, given an extra one by mistake and told, never mind one of you can have it! For the price very disappointing, will go elsewhere next time. Staff very attentive and accommodating and the venue fantastic but too pricey at £25 not worth it.

The vista as you drive up the drive sets the scene for what can only be described as an experience which explodes the taste buds!!!! We were greeted and shown to the great hall. Where we were presented with a drinks menu/ price list...and our menus. The maitre'd came and took our orders, placed cushions behind my mum, aunts and my back to make us comfortable and waited patiently while we discussed the wine list... When our table was ready a waiter came to take us and our drinks through. The Great Hall is a wonderfully authentic room in which the decor, furnishings and fire place do it perfect justice...how ever the dining room/ restaurant did nor fall short of ambience. The meal that followed was not just a piece of art but every course had a wonderful explosion of tastes on each plate which all complemented each other.........totally and utterly yummy!!!!! The timings of each course was perfect enough time in between to saviour the tastes but not to long to get board or star finger tapping. The maitre'd had a quirky manner and was entertaining, efficient and fun, whilst being highly attentive in a non intrusive manner. The waitresses and waiter where also very attentive....they made you feel as if you really were their very special guests and nothing was to much trouble....considering their was a large wedding on in different Roos and 12 other people in the restaurant not including the 5 of us ...it takes some skill to attend to everyone and make them feel unique.Yes the price tag is in the upper bracket at £55 per head for the food...but it was worth every penny and more.....this is a gastronomical delight which tickles your taste buds and is definitely worth the money. It has leapt into my 2nd favourite restaurant in UK... And when we go again it might make 1st place !!!!!Thank you for a wonderful evening and for making it special for my family.

The Restaurant Manager then arrived to welcome us, and shortly afterwards a waitress arrived to take our order. A few minutes later the waitress came to inform us that the table was ready and we followed her into the restaurant, The décor was excellent and everything we expected. The food was exceptional and very well presented. Nothing was too much trouble, we both felt thoroughly spoiled. It was our first visit to Rushton Hall but certainly will not be our last. After lunch we strolled around the gardens which I felt could have been more colourful, but still nice and peaceful, and certainly helped our food go down. The one blip was that myself & one other had ordered soup which just didn't arrive. Staff were apologetic but it meant meal started without us & when the leek/potato soup did turn up it was bubbling as though microwaved - although still not that warm! However they made amends with a superb main course of Roast Beef & love the fact that amongst the vegetables we also had cauliflower cheese. We visited the Tresham Restaurant at Rushton Hall on Sunday 3rd November. We rang up on the Sunday afternoon and they fitted us in the same evening. We asked to go straight to our table when we arrived, as we only wanted to drink a bottle of wine with the meal, but were informed that people order their food in the bar area before being taken in. We were left in the bar area quite a long time before being taken in, well past the time that our table was booked for. There were bits of mashed up bread rolls under the table in the bar area where we sat, but the enormous room that we were in was oozing with history and felt very regal. The restaurant was filled with couples except for our party of three, so our guess is that they were hotel guests because this old stately home really is totally out in the middle of nowhere. The food gave us the impression of an ambitious chef that yearned for Michelin recognition but just wasn't quite consistent enough with the standards of cooking. Everything was presented beautifully and plenty of advanced cooking techniques were demonstrated but the seasoning was off on quite a few of the dishes, this generally involved the use of too much salt, especially with green vegetables. They were obviously using top notch ingredients, the meat and fish were absolutely superb, the saucing was good but somebody seemed to be sprinkling far too much salt on the dishes before they were coming out to the tables. The service was done by a selection of pretty young ladies and it was them that really saved the day. They weren't pompous, Taylor in particular was very confident and professional and they seemed to work well together as a team. If the seasoning had been better I would have considered giving them a 5 because this was classy and ambitious cooking using some very expensive ingredients such as foie gras, scallops and truffles. Some people have complained about the prices but fifty five pounds for a meal in such historic surroundings with such expensive ingredients is not totally unreasonable. I just wish that they had paid a little more attention to the seasoning here because everything else was spot on.

Had afternoon tea here with some girlfriends. Positives: lovely surroundings inside and out, negatives: poor customer service, we were booked in for 3.40 and table was not ready, had to tea and coffee arrived but no sugar or milk, had to ask several times for the sugar and gave up in the end ( was advised by the waitress that she had asked herself 3 times for sugar for us and it still hadn't come, can't understand what was so difficult in arranging for a bowl of sugar). We also had to ask for more tea and coffee (shouldn't they come round and offer this without having to ask, my friend got up from the table to ask for more tea and was told sternly to go and sit down). The waitress did explain there were only 3 members of staff but that was the hotels problem not ours. Food was nothing special, felt it was overpriced at £22 each (would recommend The Granary at Fawsley, only £10 per head and excellent service and food). Felt very disappointed.

All good! Service was friendly and attentive. Food was great, especially the fish. We had private dining in the Great Hall and pre-dinner drinks outside - both venues were lovely.

Smashing afternoon at Rushden Hall. Lovely warm welcome from Ty and a very informative afternoon too. Ty was an excellent host who knew everything about the hall. He made our day a memorable one and after our first visit in June we have since returned with friends in July. The food was delightful and plentiful alongside the vast range of teas or coffee on the menu.Would definitely recommend a visit as afterwards you can take a stroll round the splendid grounds to walk off all the calories you've just taken on board..!After attending around ten or more establishments for afternoon tea I can honestly say this place is in our top 2 for food, and no.1 for hospitality as you are 100% made to feel welcome and special at Rushden Hall. Please attend and see for yourself, you wint be disappointed.

Starter fine. The main course was excellent.Dessert and cheese was disappointing. Cheese served with uninspired biscuits and the soufflé was a poor effort both of which really let the place down. The service is very good, almost too good. As soon as you finish your plate is whisked away with lighting speed. We asked them to slow down a little so we were not to rushed!Breakfast is excellent.

This place has a lot going for it, but somehow misses the mark. Menu needs to be changed more often the food was very good. However for the price it should have been better

Probably more expensive than others of similar quality but attention to details is good.Menu was the same both nights which persuaded us not to eat the second night. It was good but not for a repetition!

My husband and I visited for afternoon tea and was very disappointed. I have a seed allergy and asked that food be prepared accordingly and then revived sandwiches containing whole grain mustard seeds! Expected better attention to detail from here. Service was lacking and staff were disinterested, no where to put my jacket and the toilets were not clean.

Food was a culinary delight. Each course was a surprise. For the cheese board you had the opportunity to choose 6 of your favourite cheeses. What a great idea.

We were suitably impressed by the quality of the food. It lived up to its promise of being excellent. We were a party of four and the service was impeccable, there was no waiting at all for the food, the restaurant was beautiful and the staff very diligent and friendly. We were made to feel important and this was what we had wanted for our evening out. The same goes for the breakfast the following morning. What a treat to be pampered so well. Thank you to all concerned.

Good place for a reasonably priced lunch/early dinner and the Meal Deal is especially good value for money. The choices on this menu are not as wide as when we first started visiting but the meals that are left are sufficiently varied so I'm sure there would be something to suit everyone. We do occasionally order from the main menu depending on when we visit but our favourite time is during 12-6 Monday to Friday when the Meal Deal operates. Our server yesterday was Louise who makes you feel 'special' even when rushed off her feet and cannot do enough for you. When time allows she will always stay and have a chat which is quite refreshing these days and much appreciated. We'll be back shortly so looking forward to another reasonably priced meal and with any luck we'll be met by the friendly face of Louise once again. Can't wait.

Been before, had a takeaway. Was quite nice. Decided to take my partner and 6 month old baby for lunch. Got there at 1pm on a Saturday, the place is open serving people. For us to be turned around and told us the kitchen is closed but coffee is still being served. Turned down another customer behind us with the same answer. I would have thought a little coffee shop would have open arm invited us for food too if we wanted. 2x customers with a possibility of spending what £20 each? So because they couldn’t be arsed to cook some food they lost £40 of business! Yet they sit there with outdated decor and quite a dull appearance. Get some effort put in jeez!

Wanted to try the Monday Club menu so booked for 5 p.m, this was our first visit and we found food to be extremely delicious and well presented by friendly attentive staff, everything was served at the correct temperature and dishes were of a generous size so my compliments go to the chef... we will be back!
