Not a great experience at dinner, staff seemed to be muddling through with no direction. Tomato soup was very nice, then I had a veggie curry & rice which was lacking flavour with a dry half of pitta bread. Very expensive & not very appetizing.

I stayed here for 2 nights for work purposes and with the hotel being a “Macdonald’s” and a ‘spa’, I expected the highest quality. Oh no, this was a massive disappointment. The room and hotel is generally tired but clean and ok, no real complaints although definitely not high quality. Marks in the carpets and walls, torn wallpaper, damp in the bathroom, it certainly wouldn’t meet the standards of Chanel 4’s ‘four in a bed’, I’m really not sure how they get 4 AA stars! Breakfast was great on both days, good food and great staff. The corridors to the rooms have radiators but these were not turned on leaving the spaces very cold. On both evenings at meal times the ‘management’ seem to make arbitrary decisions without any consideration of the impact on their guests or their poor staff who were left to deal with the fallout. This is unacceptable. On the first night I was informed that the restaurant, in which I had booked a table for myself and a colleague, was closed due to short staffing, and hence all guests were directed to the bar area. Ok no problem, however this contains just 9 seating areas of which only 6 that I would consider suitable for eating at, unless of course you want to eat from your lap. On the first evening the bar was full leaving staff struggling to cope meaning guests were waiting for both the bar and food. The restaurant menu was only made available after my request as I was not impressed with the bar menu and neither are what are advertised on their website. On the first night, I had roast chicken and a side of haggis which was great, compliments to the chef. On the second night, again the restaurant was closed yet on this occasion only the ‘bar’ menu had been made available to guests. This menu is not great, is very limited to sandwiches, salad, a few starters and burgers certainly not great for anyone with any dietary restrictions, irrespective of those wanting a good range of choice. Also offered but not on the menu, and this turned out to be the best of a bad choice, was fish and chips. I had this and it was delicious, so again compliments to the chef who served lightly battered fish cooked to perfection with home made chips and a lovely minted pea mash. Not a huge portion which was perfect for me. So all in all not too bad in terms of the food being quality, although had the fish and chips not been offered as an option, I probably would have done what another guest did and order a takeaway. Really, as this price? This hotel is certainly not as advertised and so the hotel is not meeting their contractual obligation towards guests as they promise one thing and do not deliver. This is totally out of order. The guests and staff are being severely let down by management who were nowhere to be seen at such a time of short staffing, leaving a skeleton staff to cover both reception and the bar/meal orders, alI saw was the receptionist, one waiter and I was led to believe there was just one chef for probably one of the busiest times for any hotel. I lost count of how many times I heard staff say sorry. Prior to coming here on this occasion I had made a booking for December, for myself and a colleague, and again, for work purposes. However once guests are here they become a captive audience at the mercy of a management that does not seem to care, so I will be cancelling this booking, never to return. A shame because it is the staff and their hard work that try to make this a place good.

Dined with friends on Saturday evening at teatime. Food was lovely, well presented and cooked to perfection. Two young ladies, Hannah and Claire, were our servers for the meal and they are a credit to the hotel. Both were very attentive and nothing was to much trouble for them. Beveridge manager also deserves a mention, we had a small issue in the bar prior to dining and everything was dealt with quickly and to our satisfaction. We will return.

Extremely disappointed with our stay here for many reasons. We had arranged to go for an overnight stay as a family for Easter. We were told there were Easter activities on the Sunday from 12-4. We arrived at 2pm and told the activities had finished. When we went to the bar before dinner the pints poured were completely flat. We then went for dinner and even although we had booked through booking.com for a family of 4, 2adults and 2 children for DBB we were then asked to pay £10 a head for the children’s dinner. The service was slow throughout the day/night and we waited 25minutes for our bill to come. The bill was wrong and while we tried to sort it out the waitress cleared away an almost full bottle of Prosecco (which they charge £37.50 for the bottle). If I’m honest the restaurant prices did not match the ‘pub standard’ food we received either. Apart from all that, the cupboard door in the bedroom came off the rails when opened which was also dangerous. The staff were fine but the overall experience wasn’t good and I personally would not return and would not recommend to others.

Got engaged at this hotel years ago so it is a special place for us and it used to be the place we would go to for special occasions. Went for a birthday meal this week and will NEVER go back. Service terrible, staff disinterested, food tasted like it had been frozen or bought in, dirty cutlery, cold food, warm wine and all completely overpriced. Bar staff were rude, slow and constantly had to leave the bar to get things. Cocktails appeared to come out of a bag and tasted terrible and it literally took over 20 minutes for our drinks to be served. Prawn cocktail at over £10 contained the cheapest of prawns in what could only be described as pink water which I presume was from them being defrosted. There was one small piece of tomato and two slivers of lettuce in with the prawns. Main course was lukewarm and the sauté potatoes were a large potato cut lengthwise and fried. Absolutely no presentation at all. Passion fruit cheesecake tasted fine but the kitchen had forgotten to remove the plastic wrapping so it was obviously bought in. Staff asked ‘are you guys finished?’ when they weren’t standing chatting and giggling at the reception desk beside our table. Tables were also laid out like a school exam room which looked terrible. Our request for two coffees at the bar after dinner was met with a huge sigh from the waitress who seriously looked like she couldn’t be bothered and didn’t want to be there. Litter and wires beside our table in the dining room looked messy and unsafe. McDonalds would have provided better food and service than this MacDonalds.

Given the reputation and cost of dining at this restaurant it was for a special occasion that myself and a party of six people decided to book an evening meal. As host (and bill payer) I really did want my guests to have a positive experience; however, it was not meant to be. Firstly, my glass of cider was placed before me with what appeared to be a complimentary fritter on the rim. I asked for it to be changed and, in a lighthearted manner, enquired if chef had perchance taken a swig out of it whilst eating something with crumbs, My prawn cocktail duly arrived and I have to say that the copious amounts of vinegar that must have been added to it made me wish I had a pH meter on my person in order to ascertain if it was as acidic as my car battery. Then for the main course..... fish and chips. What could go wrong? Well, it did not taste like cod nor haddock and so I wondered if I was tasting guppy, mudskipper, catfish or whatever. Point is, it tasted horrible to the extent that it behove me to inform the waitress that had I offered my cat a taste it would most certainly have scratched me and written to the RSPCA complaining about its feline rights being infringed upon in matters culinary. My guests had little good to say of their meals: a wee while later one was sufficiently bold to opine that the mash potato which accompanied her chicken milanaise was hiding under the piece of battered hen and showed a distinct connection with that fabled powdered mash potato advertised on telly in the 1970s by wobbly, low budget puppet aliens. My other guests duly came out of the woodwork with comments which basically hinted that we'd have been better off going elsewhere. On a serious note, a great disappointment when all is said and done. A place to avoid.

The menu is pricey, but you get the convenience of not having to go out of the hotel, or to find a restaurant, to queue, and to risk having a stressful time, so I was very happy to be able to "stay in". We had gnocchi for our main course, and a cauliflower dish for our starter, and it was very nice.

We are stopping here at the hotel, and after a long drive to get here thought we would be able to relax and have some quality food in the restaurant, however, that was not the case unfortunately…. Staff were pleasant enough, but there was the atmosphere of a covid ward in there, no soothing background music or anything to lighten the mood. Like a white shirt collar in an extra marital affair my wine glass had last nights lipstick still around the edge, which once alerted the waitress changed for me, it was at that point I knew through that small lack of attention to basic details, our stay wasn’t going to be for me… Ordered a nice and simple fish and chips, fresh north sea fish and chunky chips it was written as, the fish wasn't too bad at all, although my wife despised it almost as much as my snoring, and like her home made cheesecake it had a soggy bottom, but the chips were not cooked through, still had that raw crunch in the middle, how on earth you can’t cook chips is beyond me. We also ordered a bottle of red, unsurprisingly we paid £30 ish for a readily available £9 bottle, usual hotel tricks. I would avoid eating here if you want to pay for quality food, if you eat anything then get booked in.

no one on reception upon arrival so we didn't know where to go for afternoon tea. Afternoon T when eventually arrived was wrong. should have been for vegetarians. waited 20 mins for correct food after waiting 40 mins for the first time. some of the bread was stale so we had to complain about that. we asked for different sandwiches to which they brought cheese and pickle. nobody liked pickle so total waste. we also had to ask for a corner near where we were sitting to be cleaned. full of spiders and beasties. in our room we requested glasses when these came one had lipstick mark on it. It gets better at breakfast. my niece took a croissant for breakfast and was nearly sick. it should have been custard inside. smelt like smelly cheese. waitress apologised and said she would mention this to chef. You could with your food at breakfast tell which was freshly cooked and what wasn't. For a 4 star hotel you would expect a better service from them. Totally disgusting and we are all very disappointed as we were looking forward to the afternoon tea and overnight stay that we had booked.

Just! Wow! I visited the crutherland on business and WOW! The staff, WOW! The food, WOW! Just WOW! I'm actually in love with the MacDonald hotels WOW! The speyside water in the rooms? WOW! This place is a MUST! The shin of beef was AMAZING!!! We met the head chef, Kevin Jamieson? WOW, talented and a beautiful man. 10/10 will visit again! PLEASE VISIT THIS HOTEL! On a more neutral approach, this hotel did reach the standards my business partners and I were hoping for. We have seen a lot of mixed reviews but it was really the food that did it for me, I had the braised beef (I think someone had called it the shin of?) and my business partners had the pollock which was very well worth the money! Rather large portions as well, the rooms were very comfortable and we had lots of space in the double bed for us. The main dining hall was stunning! The carpet was beautiful, I had to ask a member of staff who made it but they didn't know as they were only new. We had a cheeky wee nosey into the ballroom as there was a wedding on the next night I believe? It was just WOW! Stunning, if I was ever to get married...I know where I'm going ;) (winkey face). My recent visit to Orion Way restaurant left me utterly disappointed and dissatisfied. The online menu promised a diverse selection, but upon arrival, it was shockingly limited, especially in terms of vegetarian options. To add insult to injury, the quality of the food was abysmal. My carvery arrived with cold meat and to my horror, a hair nestled within. The incompetence of the staff was apparent throughout the entire ordeal. Simple requests like straws or coloring for my one-year-old were met with blank stares, forcing us to fetch them ourselves. The pinnacle of incompetence came when what I can only assume was a manager, brought over extra cutlery on a woefully inadequate tea plate. In the process, a knife slipped off the plate and struck my daughter, leaving her visibly upset. The lack of immediate action or even basic concern for her well-being was appalling. Despite this traumatic incident, there was no offer of first aid or any meaningful attempt to rectify the situation. To add insult to injury, we were not even offered a token discount for the horrendous experience we endured. In summary, Orion Way restaurant not only failed to meet basic standards of hygiene and service but also displayed a shocking lack of empathy and care towards its patrons. I strongly advise against dining at this establishment if you value your safety and well-being.

Usually love this place. But I’ve just been in to order some food. Watched it being made, one item was a cheeseburger. There was a young boy working in there who I watched blow his nose into a tissue and didn’t wash his hands. He then proceed to put his manky fingers all over the cheeseburger which was for my young daughter. Told him and the older woman I wasn’t happy about him not washing his hands. Didn’t even get an apology and the wee guy still didn’t wash his hands when he handed me my refund. If this goes on in front of your face, imagine what you don’t see.
